This was such a sweet audiobook; the voices really brought the story to life for me. I could understand all the emotions she was feeling. The story really pulls you into their life and it was hard to put down. This was my first book from Annah Conwell, now I need to read more of her books.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC.

This is a cute and cozy clean second chance, brother’s best friend, single mom romance. When the FMC’s life is spiraling, her brother and his best friend show up to convince her to move back to their hometown—obviously her brother’s best friend’s house is the perfect place. Only catch? Their childhood crushes have not eased over time. Slowly but surely the MMC works to bring down the FMC’s wall one piece at the time. Something extra special about this book is it has an epilogue for all the different couples throughout the series!
Thank you Net Galley for my free ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Book 4 of the But He's a Carter Brother series was released on Kindle Unlimited last August and now the audiobook is out. I received an advanced copy of the audiobook from NetGalley. Thank you.
The narrators did a good job with this story. I may have swooned a little over John William Maddox’s narration of Maverick. In the story, Evie says, “His voice is smooth and silky, like my favorite sipping chocolate I used to get in New York during the winter. I want to close my eyes and bask in it.” I can say Maddox pulls off that voice very well.
Evie’s brother Drew is the best friend of the last of the Carter brothers to find love, Maverick. Although Maverick actually has loved Evie since they all grew up together, Evie ended up marrying someone else—a narcissistic jerk. Fortunately, Evie and her 4-month-old baby are rid of the jerk, making way for Maverick to swoop in and rescue them. But Evie does not want to be rescued. She is quite adamant that she can take care of herself. No worries, though. Life happens and then love happens. Or rather, warm and gooey love is allowed to happen, finally. Maverick is a total cinnamon roll, except when he's being protective; then a dark side emerges. Briefly.
This story has sweet, serious, and funny moments. I particularly like the first boxing lesson. This book sort of glides over the serious issue of what recovering from living with a narcissist really looks like, but the focus is a sweet romance with the goal of getting to the HEA. And I’m willing to believe that the love of a kind and trustworthy man can do a lot of healing.
Those who read the entire series will especially love the final epilogue with short, in-the-future scenes with each of the brothers and their women. This is the first of this series that I’ve read, and I can tell from this book that the Carter brothers are a good bunch and it would be well worth reading all their stories.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC opportunity!
This was a cute story, but definitely felt a little fast at points. I could appreciate the slow burn at the beginning, and understood the history between them, but the random blurt out of her I Love You felt out of character for me, and also out of nowhere. I wish there had been more lead up to that point.
However, it was a good easy story and i loved that there was no third act breakup.

I was bored. The FMC was very annoying. Seriously, she had a problem with someone she's known almost all her life helping her carry some suitcases??? It was a little bit too much. Yes, she's hurt, but she takes it out on the people she knew best. Maverick was sweet, protective, and kind and totally needs someone else in his life than the FMC.
The narration wad well done.

Just finished But He's My Roommate by Annah Conwell, and wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions! Although this is the last book in the series, it's the first one I’ve read, and it definitely left me wanting more! The writing is witty, fun, and steamy.
The book was such a satisfying conclusion, but after listening to this audiobook, I’m definitely going back to check out the prequels to see how everything started. If this book is any indication, Annah Conwell has a talent for creating captivating, complex characters and relationships that draw you in.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this entertaining audiobook.

The narrator did a great job. Kept me interested and not wanting to stop. The storyline was cute and fun. It was inline with the other books in the series. Cute, fun simple and delightful. I loved the independent and family themes.

If you are looking for comfort and romance, you will find it in this book. But He’s My Roomate is like a warm hug with all the feels.
Evie and Maverick have been friends since childhood, but they’ve been apart for several years. They have each suffered heartbreak in their separate relationships. Evie is now a single mom who needs a safe place to stay and Maverick offers to provide that. But can they find their way to a happy ending?
Huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this fabulously narrated audiobook!

4.5 stars
Annah Conwell is one of my favorite closed door romance authors and this one did not disappoint. The yearning between the MCs was well written and heartfelt while still tackling some hard topics like past relationship failures and being a single parent. I missed a couple of the middle books of the series but I think anyone who has read them all will love this as a bookend. I especially enjoyed the bonus epilogue at the end for each of the previous couples' lives after this book ends.
The narrators were fantastic but there were times where I wasn't a huge fan of some of the voices chosen for the side characters. Sometimes those felt cartoonish.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC!

But He's My Roommate
A cozy romantic comedy
(But he’s a Carter Brother #4)
by Annah Conwell
Narrated by Kim Churchill; John William Maddux
I received an ARC of this audiobook through Netgalley.
This is the 4th book in a series, and I didn’t listen to the previous 3.
Coming late to the story I missed out on a lot. How many Carter brothers are there? Why were they so close to Drew & Evy? Where do they live? Why does Maverick live out in the middle of nowhere?
It’s a romance book, so, of course, there’s going to be romance, right?
There was no real romance here. There was never really a falling in love part either. The slow burn and slow sizzle never really hit their mark.
Instead this book came off more like an inevitable melding of two lives that was always meant to be. It was like the actual falling in love happened years before this book ever took place.
There were a lot of moments of controlling behavior throughout this book that are honestly red flags to me. Sometimes people think they know what’s best for you when they don’t. Sometimes people think they know best, and they are right about it, but that doesn’t give them the right to dictate another person’s life or choices.
Some parts of this book are really sweet.
If you liked the rest of this series it would be worth listening to.
I can’t recommend this book because I think it sets a bad precedent for brutish, overbearing behavior and for it’s cousin - dictatorial controlling behavior that is done out of love and kindness. Control is control - whether it’s done out of love or not.
I think the author means well. I am certain they poured their heart and soul into this whole series. There really are some great scenes and moments in this book. It is clear that the author loves these characters and their lives.
The narrators did a great job too.
So, while I can’t bring myself to recommend this book - I do want to make it clear that many people put their hearts into this book, and that this book deserves to be cherished by those who can see past the parts I personally have trouble with.

Annah Conwell is quickly becoming one of my favorite author's. Her characters are real, relatable and adorable. I cant even deal with these Carter's. I love them all so much.
Great audiobook and a WONDERFUL edition to the series. Mav has my heart.

The last book in this series
Maverick has loved Evie (his best friend's sister) for as long as he can remember. He just hasn't admitted it to himself, much less others. When she is alone and divorced with an infant, he begs her to move back to Georgia and live with him. As they spend time together, he finds he can no longer deny his love for her. Will she ever feel the same?
There are closed door, clean, and squeaky clean romances. This series is squeaky clean. Which, unfortunately, means there is little chemistry between the characters. I'm sure it is very hard to write when the characters never get past a chaste kiss. And, I am sure many people appreciate super clean romances. I prefer some tension and chemistry. So while this series is decent, it is not something that will stick with me. I will likely forget most of this by next month.
I did like how willing Maverick was to help with the baby. It was very sweet.
Kim Churchill and John William Maddux narrate the audiobook. I always appreciate two narrators for dual POVs.
I received an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media & Annah Conwell for the chance to listen to this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book is the final story in a four part series- I have not read the previous books. With that said I do believe one can pick up enough context clues and inferences to understand what you missed- but don't quite believe this reads that well as a standalone.
This story is enjoyable for anyone that adores brother's best friend, childhood friends to lovers, "he's not my baby, but I'll love him like my own", move from the big city to the small town, no intimate scenes and with a gaslighting ex thrown in.
The dual pov/narration was done really well and I would definitely seek out these narrators again.

This was the 4th book in an interconnected standalone series about a group of brothers; this was the first one I’ve read and I loved it! I actually listened to it on audio and it was dual POV with male/female narration. Both narrators had smooth voices (.loved them!). Maverick “Mav” is an excellent “book boyfriend” as the golden retriever trope plays out. He definitely falls first/harder; his loyalty and devotion is so strong and sweet. While this book is predictable, I absolutely loved it! It was heartwarming and clean. I will be going back to read the first 3 in the series!

Well, now that I’ve read the first and last book in the ‘But He’s a Carter Brother’ series, I’m committed to reading books #2 and 3 asap. Because…these brothers!!!! Some of the best scenes in the book include their playful banter and brotherly concern. And the text messages! Bwahahaha! So. Much. Fun!
Each book works well as a standalone, so no worries if you are new to the series. Though all the brothers and their significant others take up some page time in this book, it’s still easy to follow along. There’s also a sweet epilogue for each couple at the end which was a neat way to finish off the series.
So…Maverick and Evie…swoon, thud, and swoon some more. You’ll definitely want to have your fainting couch handy for the duration of the read. This is a slow burn romance (brother’s best friend, friends to more tropes) that’s taut with emotional tension. Love the way their relationship evolves over time. A lovely mix of gentle heat and laugh out loud humour. And, oh my, when the kissing starts! Toe-curls all the way!
A lighthearted romantic comedy with characters who captured my heart
I listened to the audio edition of ‘But He’s My Roommate’ narrated by Kim Churchill and John William Maddux. Loved the dual narration and these performers teamed up to create a memorable listening experience. Highly recommend the audio book.
My thanks to Dreamscape Media and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

I had a great time with this story and will definitely go back to reading the others in the series. I had a beautiful time with this story and the characters and I am definitely looking forward to the authors other works. Slow burn adjacent.

Evie is divorced and a single mom raising her son in NYC. She works as a fashion photographer but gets fired from her job as her ex is a model with connections. Her brother Drew and his friend Maverick go to NYC and convince her to go home to Georgia where she will have support & somewhere to stay while she gets back on her feet. The problem is, Evie doesn't like people helping her out and she would be staying at Maverick's house. They have been friends for years but have been out of touch most recently. As they live together, they discover their relationship growing into something entirely new. As Evie begins to heal, she finds herself willing to try again with Maverick.
But He's my Roommate was the first book that I had read in the Carter brother series. The book was a cute, short romance. Evie's character is shattered after her ex cheated on her and once she decided to start over, her healing journey was beautiful. She was such a relateable character going through motherhood alone with no support. The author captured how isolating it can feel to be a new mom with no support. Evie started off broken, but slowly begins to heal with the help of Maverick. Their relationship bloomed from friendship and trust and once it started, they both barreled into love pretty quickly. Maverick was the typical strong, supportive friend. Even though technically he was Drew's best friend, he and Evie already had an established friendship. He was so sweet and protective over Evie and her son and he continued to support her, even when she tried to push him away. Maverick's family of siblings and their partners was very close knit and provides the couple with all the love and support they need.
This sweet romance was perfect for those who want to dive in to a brother's best friend, friends to lovers, & forced proximity storyline. Even though this book is the fourth in the series, I read it as a standalone and really enjoyed it.

I was so sad to see this series come to an end! Annah has created such a wonderful family and heartfelt, meaningful storylines. It’s been fun seeing each brother find his happy ending. Their love for one another and their love for their deceased mother is a beautiful thing.
I enjoyed Mav’s book. He was so protective and supportive of Evie, and he was so good with Beckham. I’m a sucker for a big softie that loves kids.
The audio was very good. I always prefer dual narration and love that this series has had that for each book.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced listening copy. All opinions are my own.

This was a cute, closed-door romance between childhood friends (MMC is also brother’s best friend). There wasn’t really anything that stood out about this story. It’s something we’ve seen before in romance. That being said, I enjoyed the story and characters. I think this book makes a nice popcorn type read.

I got this from NetGalley so I didn’t realize it was a series. It can be read as a stand alone so it didn’t hurt the experience, I could just tell that the other brothers had stories before the MMC Maverick. The book is super cute and Maverick is a complete golden retriever. I love the friendship the main characters have.
Side note- if it wasn’t for reading the book here I never would have chosen it because the cover isn’t very attractive. I’m so glad I did because I will be reading more books from this author now.
