A supernatural romance between a ghost (Nolan) charged with discovering the meaning of a young woman’s (Harriet) past. In the process of finding out why Nolan must guide her, they heal inner wounds and past relationships and fall in love in the process. The question is can they be together?

What if your magical wish came to life? He's the embodiment if Christmas spirit and he is here to change her mind

Well, damnit. Now I want a magic ghost for Christmas.
I love BK Borison’s Lovelight Farm series, so I jumped at the chance to read this. Having a handsome, charming, whimsical ghost named Nolan as my Book Boyfriend of the Year was not on my 2025 Christmas List, but it is now!
Harriet is being haunted by Nolan, a ghost who drowned a century ago. But Nolan doesn’t really don’t know why he’s been assigned to her. She seems harmless and so far their jaunts into her past don’t show why she’s being pursued by a ghost. So off they go to determine what in her past has sent her down the path of transgressions….until she thinks it’s for other reasons.
A fun, whimsy twist in Dickens’, A Christmas Carol. BK Borison brings you a romantic story about a girl who feels abandoned by her family and a ghost who has spent decades doing the same thing every Christmas. He’d like to complete his task and hopefully be granted to peaceful afterlife, but his newest assignment is not going as planned. Magic out of control, a missing reaper, and he finds feelings and sensations he hasn’t felt in over century.
This is a cozy holiday read that is best read by a fireplace, in festive pajamas, with a warm drink.
Thank you @NetGalley and @AvonandHarperVoyager for the advanced digital copy.

I can’t even put into words how much I adored this book. One of the best ROMCOMs I have read in ALONG time.

4.5 stars. Harriet considers herself a pretty good person, so she’s doubly surprised when Nolan, a ghost of Christmas past, shows up in her living room and implores her to change her ways. He’s confused too, though, when visits to Harriet’s past don’t reveal a heartless monster but a girl whose family didn’t appreciate her. But he has a deadline to meet, and no amount of goodheartedness or adorable attractiveness is going to keep him from doing his job.
A clever meta take on A Christmas Carol. Nolan and Harriet have crackling chemistry. I was trying to figure out for the whole book how this could possibly work out, and (no spoilers) wasn’t completely convinced by the ending. But the whole thing goes down like a mug of peppermint cocoa.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

How do I love this!! Magic… cats… music box… mistletoe… I was lucky to receive an ARC from NetGalley. Read this for the fun and magic. Read this for the mending of hearts. Read it for the reminder to be yourself and to believe in the magic. I love how B.K. Borison uses culture (The Christmas Carol) and adds a twist.

Harriet’s character is for all the optimistic, people-pleasing girlies who just want to be loved (🙋🏻♀️) She felt so real and I loved every moment with her. And don’t even get me started on Nolan the grumpy fisherman from the 1900’s that’s been sent to haunt her?? And the two of them together? Art. This book felt like a warm hug and I will be chasing the high that it gave me for the foreseeable future. 10/10. No notes. BRAVO.

I’m not a fan of Christmas stories, but once again B. K. Borison has drawn me in and wrapped me in a warm blanket of a book. Did I care the mmc was a ghost? Nope. Loved it. Great book!

Maybe I went in with my expectations too high since one of my favorite romances of the year was by the same author but this felt super mid to me. It’s cute and a quick read but the romance was kinda bland and the paranormal aspect could’ve been fleshed out way better. I’ll admit I cried my eyes out during the last 10% tho.

Thank you Netgalley for this beautiful arc from one of my favorite authors! I literally jumped out of my chair when I received the email with the ARC. This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it didn't disappoint!
Nolan is assigned to Harriet, a woman who is colorful, messy, laughs loudly and doesn't fit into the box her family expects her to be in. Nolan is grumpy at first, but warms up to Harriet's personality and falls in love with her. In the meantime, Harriet is struggling with her difficult family relationships and doesn't have people she is very close to. We go back in time with these characters, trying to understand why Nolan was assigned to Harriet.
I won't spoil the ending, but this was an absolutely beautiful read. I had an idea of how it would end, but was still very pleasantly surprised in how Borison wrote the last few chapters. I was in tears for the final 20 minutes. This one is a beautiful romantic read and I can't wait for the next two in the series!

Good Spirits is pure holiday perfection!! It’s a fun twist on the Scrooge story with a fun romantic plot. I loved the cozy banter between Nolan and Harriet. I have loved all of BK Borison’s books and can’t wait for the rest of this series.

I cannot give enough thanks to NetGalley, Avon, and HarperCollins for providing a digital advanced reader copy of this book.
Let me start off by saying this will be my favorite romance of the year. I absolutely loved the Lovelight Farms books by Borison and was so excited to see another holiday romance pop up from her. When I saw that this was a ghost romance I was a little put off by it, thinking it would be cheesy but this surpassed all my expectations! Harriet York was a complex, lovable, FMC and struggled with so many things that felt like looking in the mirror. Watching her individual growth alongside her relationship growth with Noah made this book even better. I loved getting to know both Harriet and Noah individually and together and found myself intrigued by exactly how magic works in this world. I can only guess how many other characters we'll be able to visit.
I can't wait to see where Borison takes this series. I look forward to snagging a physical copy of this and curling up with it this Christmas!

Nolan and Harriet are now my favorite main characters from BK Borison. This book was so sweet! Sweetest first kiss I’ve ever read (mistletoe 🥹). Sweetest, soft boy longing (the mittens 😭). Sweetest coming into her own and finding that her worth isn’t defined anywhere else and BY anyone else but herself main character in Harriet 👏🏻. BK beautifully built their relationship and then as you slowly zoom out through the book you see how Harriet and Nolan are simply two halves of a whole. Gah! So good!
I LOVED this one! Loved it! Preorder it now, trust me.
I can’t thank NetGalley enough for the e-arc; what an absolute treat!

B.K. Borison is truly outstanding. Her ability to write the most heartfelt, funny, enjoyable, and swoon-worthy romances never fails to amaze me!!! Good Spirits follows Harriet, a quirky, grieving girl who's running the antique shop her aunt left to her. On the first of December, she comes home to find Nolan, the Ghost of Christmas Past (literally), there for her. Nolan is the quintessential grumpy man in ghost form. We are taken on a journey through Harriet's past, a budding friendship, and an unexpected love story.
Harriet and Nolan are two incredibly well-written, beautifully layered, and enticing main characters!
Harriet is witty, caring, gentle, and kind. For her entire life, she's lived with the struggle of constantly being watered down & shaped into a box she never truly fit in. Harriet's grieving the loss of her aunt, the one person who she felt truly understood her. Throughout the story, we get to see Harriet grow so much and it is truly wonderful to see. Seeing her find the strength within herself to stand her ground, be proud of the person she is, & love herself was so, so lovely!!!
Nolan is a ghost, a man whose life was cut far too short by a tragic accident. He's sarcastic, caring, fiercely loyal, and kind. Throughout his time in the afterlife, he's struggled with the fact that it isn't what he thought it would be. He's lonely, missing the life he should be living. We get to see Nolan grow, see his walls be broken down, a glimpse into who he is outside of all the soul auditing, and it is nothing short of wonderful!!!
The romance in this... I wish I could articulate how much I LOVED these two. An unlikely, unconventional pairing, who are truly the perfect match for each other. Harriet and Nolan both take the time to break down their walls, creep into the corners of each others hearts, & provide one another with the love, comfort, understanding & care they both needed. The chemistry & tension between these two is unreal!!! I literally blushed & kicked my feet. I cried!!! I laughed!!! I love them so much I can't explain it!!!
I didn't go into this expecting to cry, but boy, did I!!! B.K. Borison has written the most beautiful, special, & touching Christmas romance ever. This story is so layered, so well-done, & so unique. It was everything I wanted & more, per usual with B.K's books!!!

Stop it right now. This was so adorable. I was giddy the whole time reading it, and I may have even started tearing up toward the end. Get your hot tea and cozy blankets ready for this one, y’all.
The Vibes ™ hit the spot for me. Four stars! Thank you so much for the ARC!

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing B.K. can’t do.
how dare she have me longing for a ghost?
This was everything I needed and more. Harriet, my love. I see you. I am you.
Nolan, my touch starved baby, I see you too.
This book hit every note that was expected and unexpected. I laughed, I cried, I yelled (Mama York I am coming for you.) this was heartbreakingly beautiful and I would have expected nothing less.

I took off one star because I don’t believe romance novels are allowed to skip having an epilogue.
I wonder if book 2 will be about Samantha.
First of all, I can’t believe I got approved for a BK Borison arc. In the Weeds has been one of my all-time favorite comfort reads and I still have the old Kindle Limited copy downloaded on my Kindle. I will never get rid of that book!!!
As this author grows and continues to publish more books, her voice becomes more clear and I continue to enjoy her writing. I think the way she writes men is well suited to Nolan (but none more so than Beckett my king) so I like this book a lot more than I liked First Time Caller.
I don’t know if I fully understand the premise like (spoiler alert) does he return to the world with a Social Security card? a bank account? But that could just be me being nitpicky.
All in all a wonderful holiday romance with good banter, good characters, and good chemistry. Looking forward to the next one.

Wistful sigh... this book was such a lovely treat to read. I'm not a huge paranormal romance reader, but found this one particularly enjoyable and something special. You meet Harriet (the sunshine) and Nolan (the grump) in this holiday inspired romance. Harriet is living a pretty solitary life but still finds joy in the finding and sharing of lost or forgotten items in her antique shop. Nolan is a ghost of Christmas Past who pops up in Harriet's life to guide her through her missteps for a reckoning. What they find along the way is confidence, longing, perspective, and best of all love. How many lifetimes would you wait for your person? As many as it takes, indeed. A must read rom-com of the year for me.

i really didn’t know what to expect from this book but i am obsessed!!! becs absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. this was such a fun, steamy, and refreshing read and i literally don’t have the words to express how much i enjoyed it.
thank you so so much to netgalley and avon & harper voyager for the arc of this one!!!

Amazing perfection absolutely a delight. Borison has never let me down and I’m now in love with the ghost of Christmas past
