I’m so sad to see this series end. It is a personal favorite I love the historical facts that get included Indiana’s books. They make the setting more interesting and exciting to see how these women fit in. This was narrated my favorite narrator Frankie Corzo who always does an amazing job

I, unfortunately, DNFed this. I plan to physically read it rather than listen. The narrators just didn’t work for me. Because of this, I won’t be leaving it a review on any of my platforms

A time was fucking had! I dont know if ive listened to an audiobook ive loved in 3rd person as much as this. Im also a dual pov lover but i dont feel like i was missing anything here

Hot, sultry, and tantalizing. I loved the back and forth, enemies-to-lovers story. I thought Herrera did a good job of playing out the will they won't they aspect and creating emotional investment in the story. I am so glad we finally got Aurora's story. Another excellent book from Herrera.

I began listening to this book, however, I could not get into the story. I talked with a few friends who also struggled with this book. I decided to DNF the book and I have heard the first few in the series are great, however, this was not the best.

I know that Bridgerton is overused as a comparison when it comes to historical romance. But I am not being generic here! The first time I watched the TV show, I had this bright and bubbly feeling that only comes from witnessing the creation of something entirely new. Adriana Herrera has tapped into that magic with this series. She doesn't just fit into this niche of reimagining regency stories. Her writing feels like the fulfillment of my highest hopes for this movement of diverse excellence. It feels like a revelation.
Aurora is an heiress who is determined to play by her own rules. She refused her brother's martial machinations, became a revered doctor in the upper echelons of society and runs an underground pro-choice medical practice. Oh, and the infamous Duke of Annan is absolutely in love with her! The poor man is several steps behind with wicked smart beauty as he tries to juggle his new role as Duke and his need to protect Aurora from the authorities. But OMG the way he loves her. It takes a lot of humility (and usually an argument or two to do the humbling) but he learns about the dangers women face and the importance of Aurora's work. She wants to limit their relationship to casual sex. He can barely restrain himself from telling her he loves her. They're both hot heads but that also means that neither of them will give up easily.
Frankie Corzo narrates both POVs and does a fantastic job with their combative personalities. Spanish was blended beautifully into the dialogue throughout. I was able to lose myself in the audiobook and feel like the characters were talking themselves. The spice jumps in quick and is used often as a tool to further their relationship. I'm fanatically obsessed and will be catching up on the earlier books.

This was such a passionate romp through historical fiction. Aurora was an incredibly inspiring character and it was so refreshirng to see a fearless woman who spoke her mind, took risks, and was not intimidated by a man with a name or a legacy. The Duke and his support for Aurora was perfection. I loved the audiobook so much! This was my first book by Adriana Herrera but it won't be last. Finding out this was a series just makes me want to go back a discover the others.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke is the last book in the Las Leonas Series, and it might be the most timely one yet.
Aurora has been using her skills as a physician to help women in an underground clinic and even knowing the risks that come with doing she is determined to help all of the women that come to her. But when Apollo, the new Duke of Annan, finds her in danger he is quick to offer his protection. As the new Duke, and the first Black Duke at that, Apollo is trying to find his place in society. As time passes the pull that Aurora and Apollo have to one another only intensifies.
This book starts with a literal bang and it’s exactly what I wanted! We’ve seen the Aurora and Apollo crumbs throughout the series and they were definitely worth the wait. Apollo won me over in book 1 and I just fell more in love with him in this one. He was so in love with Aurora and even though she was hesitant to feel the same for him, they fell in love with each other in such an honest way.
I loved seeing Aurora be so strong-willed about her work with reproductive health, and it just felt so important to read about it in a historical romance and then look at how this very issue is talked about today.
Frankie Corzo always does an amazing job in her narration! I listened to it comfortably enough in 1.5-2x speed.
The Las Leonas Series is what got me into Historical Romance and I’m sad to see it end but their impact on me will be everlasting!

What a GREAT finish to the series! I think this was my favorite one! Aurora was such a BADASS! Also, the issues she was dealing with felt so relevant to today. Apollo also isn’t a typical haughty duke and they both had a really sweet and spicy 🔥 time finding their way to one another! I really loved how this series approached historical romance and this one specifically.
Also… are we going to get a an offshoot series with Aurora’s brothers??
Great narration and Aurora’s personality really came out!

A fantastic finale in this trilogy.
I loved this whole series so much. Truly had an absolute blast reading this last book. Their dynamic was so fun.
Audio narration was so good added a lot to the story.

All work and no play makes Dr. Aurora Montalban Wright ready to make poor decisions. Between running a women's clinic out of a brothel during the day and performing secret, illegal house calls for the suffering women of Paris at night, she finds herself at her wit's end and at the door of a certain Duke of Annan to blow off some steam - despite her best judgement. And newly minted Duke Apollo César Sinclair Robles is only too happy to oblige, if only to have something else to think about besides the overwhelming expectations placed on him by a society that balks at the idea of a man of color joining their esteemed ranks. As the lioness and her charming suitor grow ever closer - despite the threats of the past and the pressures of the present - will the star-crossed lovers-of-convenience be able to carve out a fairytale ending for themselves/ Or will Aurora's secrets and desire for independence, and Apollo's duty to his family and his title, keep them apart forever?
I am so sad that this series is over (at least for now?) because I am completely smitten with the way Adriana Herrera writes historical romances. This book especially struck a chord with me as a recently graduated female physician who struggled with the idea of needing to work harder and smarter than my male counterparts, and who may or may not have tried to use working myself into the ground to make up with perceived feelings of needing to make up for the flaws in my life. I also appreciate that Adriana can take a sultry and sizzling historical romance and also present a complex and nuanced novel on difficult, historically relevant topics (in the case of this book, abortion, grooming, and women's health) that feels very poignant and relevant to today's concerns as well. All-in-all, if you've loved the banter, pining, fighting, reconciling, redemption, and philandering of the other books in this series, you're really going to love this installment too!

Spirited Dr. Aurora runs an underground abortion clinic. She does not want marriage but wants a relationship. She offers herself to Apollo, who just came to be a Duke and sparks fly. The narrators did an awesome job with this one.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Harlequin Audio for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A huge thank you to Harlequin Audio for the review copy of this audiobook.
This might be the horniest historical romance I’ve read in a long time. It was so unexpectedly steamy hot, and I absolutely ate it up. The steam was balanced out nicely with such an incredible plot that was filled with historical accuracies. I was fully invested in this book, and loved the amount of the care and research that went into it.
Aurora was such an interesting main character. She’s outspoken, brave, works as a doctor despite the profession being incredibly rare for a woman during this time period. Most woman of the time lacked freedom and support—especially ones with dark skin like hers, but Aurora doesn’t let that stop her. In fact, she strives to help other woman and creates an underground system of health that’s intended to help woman in bad situations seek the care that they need. Unfortunately, she’s running out of money to keep the business afloat.
She’s matched up against our male lead, Apollo, who was just as interesting. He’s also a black character who’s up against white society. His father recently passed away leaving the Dukedom to him, his father’s heir. Along with the title comes its challenges. I loved that despite his rakish reputation, there was so much more to Apollo. His aunt is working tirelessly to find him a fancy little Duchess, but he’s far too distracted by the ferocious Doctor to give any of the woman a chance.
This book was rich with culture, scientific quips, and hilarious banter. I loved the dynamic between Apollo and Aurora! Apollo is head over heels for the wild woman, and Aurora doesn’t want anything to do with him. Too bad she can’t keep her eyes off him… they become tangled up when Apollo realizes that Aurora needs help and he can provide it. I loved the way their relationship bloomed, and the way their friends were watching the development with delight.
I hadn’t read the previous books, but when I saw this audiobook was available I jumped at the chance. The blurb was just too interesting to resist. Frankie Corzo did an incredible job bringing these characters to life. I enjoyed all the accents and was thorough impressed by her performance. I loved the way this book fully immersed me into the culture. Corzo’s ability to fluently recite lines in Spanish made it so much easier to imagine this world.
I was easily able to decipher which character was talking and pinpoint where each one hailed from with their varying accents. Despite jumping into the series, I felt like the narrator’s performance helped me understand the character’s background and relationships so easily.
I would gladly read another book from this author. This one dealt with such important topics like racism and misogyny, but never felt heavy. The lightness of the banter balanced it out well and left me feeling hopeful rather than devastated. If you love strong Latinx characters, yearning, fiery chemistry, and swoony dukes in your historical romances—you’ll probably enjoy this book.

* Thank you Netgalley for giving me the audiobook arc to review*
I really enjoyed A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke! It’s not your typical historical romance, and that’s exactly what made it stand out for me. Luz Alana is such a dynamic and refreshing heroine—fierce, intelligent, and unwilling to let society dictate her worth. Watching her challenge the British aristocracy as a proud, independent Caribbean woman was empowering and satisfying.
James, the Duke, pleasantly surprised me. He wasn't just a romantic interest—he genuinely respected Luz Alana’s strength and goals, and their partnership felt equal, which I loved. Their chemistry was strong from the start, and the romantic tension built nicely before things got steamy.
The historical and cultural details were another highlight. Adriana Herrera does an amazing job weaving in Afro-Caribbean history and identity, and it gave the story a depth and richness I don’t often find in this genre. I also appreciated how the book tackled issues like race, class, and colonialism without losing the heart of the romance.
That said, there were a few pacing issues in the middle, where things dragged just a bit before picking up again. But overall, I was invested in Luz Alana’s journey—both in love and in business—and closed the book feeling fully satisfied.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
First of all, if Adriana Herrera writes it, I'm absolutely gonna read it lmao.
This story follows Aurora Montalban, a physician who specializes in reproductive healthcare. She crosses paths with Apollo, a Duke with something to prove. These two had a very steamy dynamic, great banter - and I enjoyed this ALC! A solid 3.75 stars rounded up.
Thanks again!

Apollo and Dr Motalban 😍 What a pair! What spice! What message! As always, Adriana does NOT shy away from topics that should be talked about more! Aurora works as an underground doctor to women in need. But doing so puts her in grave danger. Not only for the time period but the men of these women. Another amazing book my Ms Herrera 💜
Thank you Netgalley & Forever Pub for a copy of the ebook/audio!

Apollo and Aurora are the 'it couple' of the CENTURY!!! I love a man who yearns and I love a powerful woman, and this book delivers both in a perfect, spicy, tension-filled treat!

Steamy! The chemistry between the main characters absolutely crackles, but I really enjoyed the author's character and world-building. She really brought the world or historical Paris, the French Riviera, and their relationships to the Americas and Caribbean to life. I particularly appreciated the ways the author grappled with the realities of race, colorism, class, and identity as these characters navigated their worlds. I often found myself wanting to hear more about Apollo's background or follow Aurora to her clinic more often. The narrator did a wonderful job capturing the voices and emotions of the characters, including using realistic accents and Spanish language passages. The pacing felt a little unbalanced with a rush of plotlines emerging and wrapping up too quickly at the end. Still, I'm eager to read the earlier books in this series and whatever comes next from this author.

This is my first time reading this author and she's amazing! The weaving of history, romance and suspense is great. It's a beautiful and powerful piece of women's fiction. I look forward to reading other books from your author. The narrator did an excellent job and the Spanish was lovely to hear.

This book was incredible! The banter between Aurora and Apollo? Top-tier. The chemistry? Off the charts. A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke delivers a historical romance full of passion, intrigue, and a strong-willed heroine who refuses to be tamed.
Aurora is a physician running an underground women’s clinic—fiercely independent and unwilling to let society dictate her choices. Then there’s Apollo, a newly titled Duke trying to navigate his role while resisting the pull of Aurora. Their fiery push-and-pull dynamic made this such an engaging read, and I absolutely adored the found family aspect with Las Leonas.
The romance between Aurora and Apollo is equal parts sizzling and heartfelt—watching them challenge each other while falling deeply in love was everything. Add in the high stakes, a touch of danger, and this book had me hooked from start to finish.
One thing I love about Adriana Herrera’s books is how much care and research she puts into creating these rich, immersive stories. She brings history to life in such a compelling way, and Aurora and Apollo’s story was no exception.
