Thank you to Harlequin Audio and the publishing teams for the review copy. The suspense and twists/mystery development were strong, the characters well developed, and the way the puzzle pieces came together was great! The audio performances sold me on this audio as well, I enjoyed the story a lot more as it was narrated by strong voice actors that made the book come together for me!

This is my first book from Seraphina Nova Glass but wont be my last, I really enjoyed this twisty mystery and how engaging I found the different characters and perspectives. I admit it was Flora and her group of friends, their podcast/true crime focus and their joyful exploration of old(er) age that really charmed me and yet I also was very engaged with Shelby, her experiences and worries as mother with young children and trying to navigate what happened to her and emerging threats.

I knew that I had to read this one after reading The Vacancy in Room 10. Nothing Ever Happens Here starts out with one of the most anxiety inducing scenes. There were so many stressors going on that had my heart racing right from the jump. From there I was absolutely hooked. I love a good cat and mouse thriller!

This is told in multiple POV between Flora, Mac and Shelby. My absolute favorite of the three POVs was of course Flora and her eccentric group of friends. I loved the geriatric group so much; there was so much wit involved in their chapters that it gave some comic relief to the otherwise intense and suspenseful story. I really appreciated how the three characters were intertwined and how each was dealing with the same but also different issues which led to one big mystery with other side mysteries that were linked to the big one. Love me some great twists and this one has some goodies. Buckle up for a wild ride with one great ending!!

I listened to this one via audiobook and it was narrated by Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski and Petrea Burchard. All three of these women were incredible, they complimented one another and they really brought each of these character to life. The audiobook is fantastic and super easy to follow!

Overall, another great read by Seraphina Nova Glass. Highly recommend this one to all my thriller fans!! Definitely check this one out! Huge thank you to NetGalley, Seraphina Nova Glass and Harlequin Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!!

A quiet little town in northern Minnesota, suddenly a hot spot for crime. A group of elderly retirement home detectives steal the show. Local business woman Mackenzie, whose husband has been missing for over a year is struggling to make ends meet. Her former employee Shelby was once held hostage in the cafe freezer receives an ominous note from captor while leaving work. Shelby fears for her life and her family as things start to happen.  The snarky comedy mixed with all the intensity of the thriller aspects work grwat together.

The cast of voice actors are simply amazing.

"Nothing Ever Happens Here" by Seraphina Nova Glass is a suspenseful thriller that offers an interesting mystery while taking its time to build up the excitement. The story is set in a seemingly quiet and small town where hidden secrets are just waiting to be uncovered. The character's perspectives are fun, and while the twists are there, some may feel slightly foreseeable.
The writing sets the mood, and the character development stands out. That said, the pacing in the first half moves a bit slowly, which can make it a challenge to stay fully engaged right away. It also didn’t feel quite as suspenseful as the other books I have read by Seraphina. Thankfully, the pace picks up in the second half, leading to a more satisfying conclusion, even if it isn’t entirely surprising.
I’ve found a couple of Glass’s other books even more enjoyable, as they had a brisker pace and unexpected twists. While this one was certainly a pleasant read, it didn’t captivate me quite as much. However, fans of domestic thrillers might still discover that it's worth giving a try!
While listening to the audiobook, I wished the narrators had a bit more intonation and inflection to bring the story to life.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio. This is sure to be a fun thriller for many.

This was a fun read, especially as it takes place in Minnesota. As someone who has lived in MN my entire life, I did find the "up north' stereotypes a little much a times but the story was cute and suspenseful at the same time.

This book started with such a bang and hooked me immediately. A little on the slower end, the story continued with a handful of captivating and very likeable characters and goings on that had me questioning whether it was all connected or just one big tragic coincidence. I loved the three POVs - they all felt like distinct characters with different voices and each played into the plot so cohesively. I really had no idea what could have possibly been going on and when I finally thought I did I was immediately proven wrong and surprised by the actual reveals.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I’ve enjoyed both so I’ll definitely be keeping her books in the rotation.

This was a solid read and the audiobook was really well done.

This one had a bunch of characters and to be honest I couldn’t tell ya who is who other than the villain and the 2 main victims BUT that’s because of my attention span and it didn’t take away from the overall excitement in the book or my following the plot.

I liked how the scenario was one where you legit are like omg what would I do, how would I handle that. Books like that are always fun for me as a reader.

The baddie in this one, after setting sights on the next victim, really boxes them in…making them seem crazy and totally unbelievable. Which as a reader made me wanna scream (in a good way of course).

The baddie should’ve never underestimated his prey. They won’t go down without a fight, in the most delicate of ways. I enjoyed how this one wrapped up.

Overall a good read which I for sure recommend.

We have 2 mystery for the price of 1 in this story. There's Shelby, who survived an attack a year ago and recently started getting anonymous messages. We also have her best friend, Mac, whose husband went missing a year ago.

The story is told in 3 POV: Shelby, Mac and Flora, a senior citizen living in the assisted home run by Mac. My favorite POV was Flora and her friends at the home. They added an unexpected humor to the story.

I liked how the story unfolded and the narration by Brittany Pressley; Stacey Glembosk and Petrea Burchard brought all the characters to life.

Thank you @graydonhousepress @htp_hive for a copy of this.

It’s always the town’s where “nothing ever happens!” isn’t it? I really enjoyed reading this one. It brought all the elements of a small town thriller, who dunnit with the added enjoyment of found family, and a group of meddling senior citizens. The author was able to keep me guessing, as I followed Shelby and friends on their journey to solve the mystery. I found myself giggling about the senior citizens getting involved to solve the crime, and the humor that they brought to the story. The mystery itself was that I enjoyed following and trying to guess for myself too!

In the aftermath of a violent assault on a town member and the disappearance of a husband, a group of elderly individuals band together to establish a podcast. Their mission is to investigate the unsolved case within their community, with the ultimate goal of bringing closure and preventing it from escalating into a serial attack.

A twisty thriller where you don’t know what’s going on, who to trust or where the author is taking us! Wherever it’s going, it’s a heckuva ride! Every chapter took us in a different direction!

Shelby Dawson survives a harrowing attack in her small Minnesota hometown, but still has PTSD 15 months later. Her best friend Mackenzie is struggling because her husband disappeared the same night of the attack. Were the events related? And why is Shelby now receiving threatening notes? This mystery was a fun ride, and I loved the senior citizen characters. But I think I wanted more character development from the two main characters. Otherwise I really enjoyed it and loved all the twists and turns. Thanks to Netgalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Book Review: Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass

In the seemingly tranquil town of Sycamore, Minnesota, Shelby Dawson is still grappling with the trauma of a brutal attack that occurred fifteen months prior—a night that also saw the mysterious disappearance of her best friend Mackenzie's husband, Leo. Just as Shelby begins to reclaim a sense of normalcy, she discovers an ominous note on her windshield, echoing the threats of her past assailant. As unsettling incidents escalate, Shelby, with the support of Mackenzie and an endearing group of senior citizens from the local assisted living facility, delves into a web of secrets that suggest her nightmare is far from over.

Seraphina Nova Glass intertwines suspense with moments of levity, particularly through the charming antics of the elderly sleuths whose amateur podcasting efforts add a unique and heartwarming dimension to the narrative. The novel balances tension and humor, creating a compelling atmosphere that keeps readers engaged. The richly developed characters and the depiction of small-town dynamics evoke a range of emotions, from empathy and apprehension to amusement and hope. The book leaves readers reflecting on the resilience of community and the courage required to confront one's past.

This novel is recommended for fans of psychological thrillers who appreciate a blend of suspense and character-driven storytelling. Readers who enjoyed works like The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman will find Nothing Ever Happens Here to be an engaging and satisfying read.

I just love books with spunky elderly people. The characters were all delightful, the setting had me feeling frigid, and the twists just kept coming. Never saw the killer coming!
Narrators Brittany Pressley (a fave!) Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard really embodied the characters. When I started out I flip flopped between the audio and print but with so many characters I ended up reading it immersively. If you have trouble with lots of characters this would probably be your go to.

Nothing Ever Happens Here is a popcorn thriller with cozy mystery vibes, a winter setting and the best elderly side character sleuths. This story is multigenerational, told through multiple POVs, had a good twist, and even better side characters.

I love good side characters and this book has some funny, eccentric, lovable seniors who really helped drive the story. I laughed multiple times at these “silly antiques sitting around” as they navigated their way through learning about the world of podcasts and social media. Don’t get me wrong, there was a good blend of thriller, murder mystery, sarcasm, and humor. The plot was interesting, it caught and kept my attention from the first chapter, and had a twist I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed hearing the POV of the three strong, well developed FMCs, but those silly seniors made the story for me.

This was my first book by this author but won’t be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style. I have On a Quiet Street on my backlist TBR, and hope to read it this month.

The audiobook made for a pleasant read/listen, and it wasn’t hard to follow along. The story is told from three women’s POVs and the audiobook gives all three their own narrator making it easy to distinguish between characters. I’m a big fan of Brittany Presley’s work so I was excited to see that she was one of the narrators. All the narrators had great pacing, dialect, and inflection, doing a fantastic job creating suspense but also making the sarcasm and humor really pop. Overall, the narrators created a great listening experience and delivered a flawless performance from start to finish.

This started strong with huge plot points right off the bat which really hooked me. The small town setting worked well with the cast of characters. I did not figure out who the culprit was (in fact I had no clue!) which made for a suspenseful novel. I went between reading and listening and I preferred reading but that isn’t to say the narration was bad.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of both the print and audio of this title. I love listening and reading as it helps me get through a book much faster. The narrators did an excellent job with this one. Though parts of this novel reminded me of a cozy mystery, I enjoyed the quirky characters, especially those at the assisted living center who created the podcast and got involved. Had it not been for their intrusion, the story would have ended a lot differently. I also had the husband pegged for all of it (it's always the husband, right?) I guess you'll just have to read it to find out! Overall, I really enjoyed it. Part mystery, part cozy and very entertaining.

Hooked from the very first page!

A quaint Northern Minnesota town is rocked by mystery when Shelby is attacked and left for dead in Mackenzie's coffee house and Mackenzie's husband, Leo, vanishes. A group of seniors start a viral podcast to investigate the strange happenings. This cozy thriller from SNG features a group of senior podcasters who lighten up the suspense.

I cant wait to read more by this author!!

It’s been too long since I’ve been sucked into a good thriller, but I can always count on Seraphina to do the job. She is one of my favorites, and I loved her newest release! Her writing is always so entertaining. From the humorous meddling senior citizens of small town Rivers Crossing, to the clueless police department, the possible serial killer wreaking havoc, the captivating multiple point of views, the pacing, and plot twists, I was fully invested from page one. I became connected to the characters and felt for them throughout.

I couldn’t wait to get to the end and find out if my guess on who was causing all the craziness was right (it wasn’t)!

🎧The audiobook is narrated by Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard, and it was perfection! These women delivered top notch performances, and really made a fantastic story even better.

Thank you HTP Hive, HTP Books, Graydon House Books, Harlequin Audio and Netgalley for the ARC/ALC!

I was sucked in from the very beginning and while I think the first bit of the book was the strongest part, I enjoyed the thoughtful character development throughout the entire story. Trying to figure out the relationship between two incidents that happen on the same night was a journey that kept me invested and looking forward to each opportunity I was able to resume listening. I’ve read one other book by Seraphina Nova Glass and actually preferred this thriller to my former read. This was a really strong audio performance also, and while there’s a full cast of characters, I loved the listening format. Brittany Pressley is one of the narrators, who is always a fave of mine!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the opportunity to review this ARC!
