I gave this book 2/5 ⭐️. I heard the audiobook and I didn’t enjoy it. Then I decided to reread the book to give it another try and I still ended up not enjoying it.
At first, it was entertaining and it started out good, but then it just felt like it was dragging so much. There were also so many characters to keep up with and multiple POV’s. I feel so bad, but I wanted to give my honest opinion. I couldn’t really get into it.

I enjoyed this audiobook. The story was great and I loved all the twist and turns that came up. Really makes the reader pay attention.

Nothing Ever Happens Here drops us into a quiet little town where life is predictable—until, suddenly, it isn’t. What starts as an ordinary day quickly spirals into a tangled web of mystery when a husband goes missing, a burglary is foiled, and the town’s ever-watchful neighbors start buzzing with speculation. The sleepy town vibe sets the perfect backdrop for a thriller packed with unexpected turns, where secrets lurk beneath the surface, and everyone seems to know just a little too much about each other.
With plenty of twists and a jaw-dropping revelation I never saw coming, this book kept me hooked from start to finish. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the story veered in a completely different direction, keeping me on my toes until the very last page. If you love small-town mysteries with a cast of quirky characters and surprises at every turn, this one is a must-read!

Overall, this was a solid thriller. It had some fun twists and turns, and the story loved leaving us hanging at the end of chapters-which did keep me interested and reading.
Where the book was lacking was in character development. I did like our characters overall. The big problem was our protagonists. Our first main character Shelby never felt fully developed, she was put through the wringer in this book and there wasn’t much more to her character. Making her a mom was the main reason we were meant to worry for her. Our other main character Mackenzie’s personality also revolves around being a victim-her husband disappears and seems to have defrauded them and others. The best characters are the retirement home characters from Shelby’s work. Though they did seem to be a shallow version of the delightful characters in Thursdays Murder Club.
Overall, if you are looking for a fun easy thriller to read I would recommend, as long as you don’t mind forgetting all the characters the day after you finish the book. 3⭐️

I don't think Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass is technically a cozy mystery, but it gave me serious cozy mystery vibes in the best possible way. The mystery is layered and kept me rapt.
What starts as a quest for peace and normalcy in the quiet, snowy town she's moved to quickly escalates when Shelby receives a mysterious note that makes it clear she hasn't escaped the past trauma she's been running from. The pacing is just right—slow enough to build suspense, but with enough twists to keep you on edge. Glass does a fantastic job of weaving in multiple perspectives, especially with the inclusion of Shelby’s best friend Mackenzie and her missing husband, Leo, adding layers of intrigue and suspicion. The absolute BEST part of the novel was the rag-tag group of senior citizens who accidentally stumble into true crime podcast stardom in their quest to help Shelby and Mackenzie solve the mystery. I could read a whole series with those delightful characters.
There are some predictable moments, and I did wish a few of the twists were fleshed out a bit more, but those are minor quibbles that didn't lessen my enjoyment of the novel at all. This is the kind of audiobook you’ll want to finish in one sitting (and I did!). A solid, satisfying listen for fans of psychological thrillers.

Nothing Ever Happens Here was an okay read for me. It took awhile for me to be invested in any of the characters and sometimes the pacing was off, but overall I think it was good. The mystery aspect of this was more intriguing than the thriller aspect. I didn't really get the thriller vibe with this that much. I received the ALC from Harlequin Audio & NetGalley, so appreciate the opportunity to listen and make this review.

I received an ALC of this book via NetGalley to read in exchange for an honest review.
“Nothing Ever Happens Here” is my second Seraphina Nova Glass novel this month alone, and now I’m adding her entire collection to my TBR. Right off the bat, our story hits the ground running. I was immediately drawn in by quick pace of the writing – this is not a slow burn mystery. There was no foreplay included here! Every clue that is revealed brings forward more questions than answers and kept me second guessing what my intuition was saying about the storyline. It’s an unpredictable but highly enjoyable wild goose chase with more than a few lovable characters, and maybe a couple you’ll just love to hate.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars
This is told in three different POVs, Shelby, Mack, and Florence. In a quiet town where "Nothing ever happens" something actually does happen. I loved the senior citizen voices. I loved the fact that they had a podcast. I would totally read another book if this were to become a series. I am really enjoying reading books that have fun and entertaining older characters.

I was intrigued by the premise but as the story progressed it felt very much like the show only murders in the building. While I love that show, this just wasn’t hitting the vibes for me in a good way.

Set in a small town, the story follows a woman who is attacked by a mysterious figure, leading to a series of events that unfold. Overall, it was “okay.” I particularly enjoyed the humorous conversations between the older residents at the place where the woman works, they were funny. While the narration was solid, the story itself left me feeling a bit bored.

This was a fun book. Told through three POV's (all in first person) the story moves at a good pace. It's a small town where everyone knows everyone's business and "Nothing Ever Happens"... until something actually does happen. I really enjoyed the bits of humor the senior citizens provided - I mean members of a retirement community having a podcast? You gotta love that. The book keeps the tension strong throughout the entire story - it was hard to find a good place to stop because I just wanted to see what happens next! Only negative thing is (no spoilers) I didn't love the way it ended. But otherwise it was a quick enjoyable listen.

Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A small town thriller full of suspense with hilllarious but engaging characters.
The story weaves a complex mystery, utilizing multiple points of view, including those of Shelby, Mack, and Florence.
The reader navigates the information to try and understand what happened to a missing man and an unknown assailant who is terrorizing the towns residents.
What I loved most about this book was that there is a group of older residents who have a podcast and seem to be tech savvy and are on the case. They are hilarious, and although the key points of the book are dark, there are so many funny points keeping it light.
In essence, the book delivers a thrilling experience with memorable characters, making it a worthwhile read for those who enjoy small town suspense novels full unexpected twists, and turns.

NOTHING EVER HAPPENS HERE by Seraphina Nova Glass
A suspenseful and twisty psychological thriller about a woman rebuilding her life after a brutal attack, only to receive a chilling note that suggests her nightmare isn’t over. I read this with my ears, and the full cast narrator team amplified the eerie setting and ominous tone. I definitely recommend this one in audio format. Another bingey thriller from Glass!

Seraphina Nova Glass’s Nothing Ever Happens Here is a domestic thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The audiobook, narrated by Brittany Presley and others, is easy to follow and gives each character a unique voice. The narrators’ pacing and inflection create suspense, highlight sarcasm, and add humor. This is an excellent way to experience the book

3.5. I didn’t love this… I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe too much going on, making it confusing and then a little boring despite all the ongoings! I like this author but this one was not my fave. Thanks NetGalley for the ALC!

I received an ARC of the audiobook and I really enjoyed it! This grabbed my attention right away and I couldn’t wait to see what the heck was going to happen next! This was pretty fast paced and had a few twists throughout. This was a great mystery, small town crime story, that kept my attention throughout the entire story. This was my first book I’ve ever read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last! I look forward to reading some of her other books! I’d definitely recommend this one especially if you like mysteries or you’re newer to the genre!

Holyyy Monkeys. I'm so glad I listened to this on audio. The chapters were told by different characters (and there were a lot!) but with different voices it was easy to distinguish them and know who was talking. The voice actors did a phenomenal job in making this an easy to digest listen. I was immediately hooked by the first chapter and ended up listening to the whole thing in one day. You know it's a good book when you start looking for chores to do so that you can listen to your audiobook in peace LOL One of the things I loved the most about the book were the emotions that were portrayed: the fear, the anxiety, the anger, the protectiveness, and even the feeling of being invisible once you are elderly. The author did a great job putting those feelings into words, and the voice actors did a great job of portraying those emotions. After the first chapter, I knew there would be a lot of twists. It was a wonderfully fraught and anxious adventure.
Set in a small town in Minnesota where it is a badge of honor to not have to lock your door, something terrible has happened. Mack's husband has disappeared and her best friend Shelby was attacked in her restaurant. As the months after the incident pass, Mack starts learning more about her husband. He has spent all their savings and put them in debt by a gambling problem he had hidden. As she digs and finds out all the dirt on her husband, she has to start wondering the same thing the town is whispering about behind her back. Did he attack Shelby and run off to start another life and abandon her? And then the attacks start back up and as more residents start to die, she knows she has to figure this out to stop them, because they have to be connected.

I just finished reading “Nothing Ever Happens Here,” and I’m still reeling from the experience. This domestic thriller masterfully weaves together suspense, mystery, and emotional depth, keeping me on the edge of my seat.
The story follows Shelby Dawson, who survives a harrowing attack, and her best friend Mackenzie, whose husband mysteriously disappears on the same night. The narrative is expertly crafted with multiple perspectives, including a delightful cast of elderly characters from the Oleander assisted living facility, who add both humor and insight.
The book’s unpredictable twists and turns kept me guessing until the very end. The author skillfully evokes a range of emotions, from fear and anxiety to warmth and camaraderie. The Minnesota setting, with its harsh winters, adds a chilling backdrop to the unfolding drama. Overall, “Nothing Ever Happens Here” is a must-read for fans of suspenseful thrillers with memorable characters and surprising plot reveals.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin audio for this audio ARC copy for an honest review.

This thriller was not what I expected at all! It has a cast of some of the most unique characters I’ve ever read. Five stars for this thriller that blends terror, fear, and elements of true crime.
This story is told from the perspectives of three characters: Shelby, Mack, and Florence. Each of these women brings a unique voice to the story. Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard do an absolutely phenomenal job narrating this one! Shelby has survived a harrowing and life-changing attack, Mack is trying to put her life back together after her husband’s shocking betrayal, and Florence thinks that she can help find the answers that everyone needs to find closure and move forward. Florence enlists the help of her friends from the senior living facility where she resides. They are a terrific group that brings humor and experience to the story.
You would think that with so many characters and three different narrators that this story might get confusing and difficult to follow. That is not the case at all! The chapters flew buy with many cliffhangers, and the author seamlessly blends the story together. I went back and forth with ideas of who might be the person behind this, but I was still very surprised by the ending. I was also angry. This story does an amazing job of showing how we still don’t take women and their concerns seriously. I could not pause this book because I had to know how it would end.
AND WHAT AN ENDING IT IS! This is a great book for your next book club!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the opportunity to listen to this one! This one is out now, and I’ve added a few more from this author to my TBR. I highly recommend this fast read!
