This book definitely kept me on my toes!! I LOVED the diverse cast of characters. The gang from the retirement home had me laughing. I loved the different viewpoints the story was told from. The narrator was also great!!

I enjoyed this "cozy mystery". I think my favorite was Florence and the other residents rallying together to figure out what is going on in the town. In the first chapter Shelby is assaulted and traumatized by an attack. The very same night Mackenzie's husband, Leo, goes missing. Months later Otto passes away in the hospital, but was it of natural causes? You'll have to read it to find out!

The narrators did a wonderful job and made this story much more enjoyable. The story itself was a good one. Good plot, charming and likeable characters, a twist, and enough details to keep you interested, yet not overwhelming. I give it 4 stars. Thanks for the light thriller.
Thanks to the publishers for an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for my review.

Nothing Ever Happens Here is a blend of small-town cozy mystery and a twisty suspense! It started in a dark place when Shelby is attacked at her best friend Mack’s restaurant and then veers into cozy territory when we are introduced to senior citizens turned amateur sleuths. I appreciated the levity of the scenes at the Senior Home, but I do feel like there were trying to solve a few too many mysteries. This was my first by Seraphina Nova Glass, I have heard her other thrillers may be more my speed (darker!) I will definitely try her other books!

🎧 Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard did a fantastic job with these characters! The varying voices worked very well with the multiple POVs and helped differentiate whose storyline we were following.

Started off strong but then lost steam. I did enjoy this book but there were times I would stop reading it for a few days because I forgot about it...

3.25 stars

Thank you for this early audio!

I wasnt a big fan of this one. I found it somewhat slow and cant recommend it. I wasn't crazy about the audio narration of this one either. I would recommend On a Quiet Street or The Vacancy in Room 10 if you want to read something from this author instead.

As far as the narrators go, Brittany Pressley is one of my favorite narrators, but I felt the other narrator had a boring voice and I felt like she was just reading to me as opposed to performing the character. This had me zoning out and struggling to enjoy my audio copy.

Kept this neutral on my Instagram account as I appreciate the copies I was provided.

As always, Seraphina Nova Glass delivered an excellent book! One of my favorite authors. I loved these characters, the suspense, the twists. The audio was fantastic. Thank you for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook.

This was such a fun, twisty thriller! Shelby is finally feeling safe after surviving a brutal attack—until creepy notes start showing up, and people close to her start disappearing. Her best friend Mack is dealing with her own mystery—her husband vanished the same night Shelby was attacked, and new evidence suggests he might still be alive. Meanwhile, a group of nosy (but lovable) senior citizens accidentally make the case go viral, adding chaos to the mix. The small-town setting, dark secrets, and an unexpected killer kept me hooked. Some parts felt a little far-fetched, but the fast pace and quirky characters made it a super entertaining read!

Thank you Seraphina Nova Glass, Harlequin Audio, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

This was my first book by this author, and I was not disappointed. This also happened to be first THRILLER ever, so maybe I’m a bit uneducated on what’s amazing in the genre.

I liked the triple POV approach to the storyline, and each narrator gave their own character their own personality and faults very well. I will admit the beginning hooked me, and while I couldn’t guess the ending, it seemed very “oh., okay” to me. I was still very intrigued the entire time, and I wanted to continue listening at any moment just to see where the story would go.

I’m excited to explore more in this genre. This was a wonderful beginning to my journey.

Nothing ever happens in the small snowy Minnesota town until Shelby surprises a would-be burglar in her friend’s café and is locked in a freezer and left for dead. Then it seems that the action never stops. The novel is filled with eccentric oddball characters from the senior living home that Shelby manages and there are many laughable moments as well as pulse pounding ones as mysterious disappearances, accidents and deaths start occurring. The ending, considering the things that were revealed, was ingenious.

I like Seraphina Nova Glass's mysteries because they aren't quite as formulaic as some thrillers, and they tend to have a hopeful silver lining that focuses on friendships. That was definitely true here. However, I like my thrillers darker and more...thrilling. This one really didn't carry the suspense I was hoping for. I really liked the narrators except for the one for Shelby. She had some strange tones and inflections but when I spend the audio up it was a bit better.

Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass is a great thriller! I enjoyed her other book Such a Good Wife so I was excited to read this one too. This thriller rotates between 3 women’s perspectives, Shelby, Mack and Florence, and it was great that the audiobook features 3 narrators, Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard, who were all excellent. Shelby was attacked and Mack’s husband goes missing so we’re wondering are they connected? Florence is a senior joined by her friends to solve the possible murder of her friend’s husband and is that connected too? It was a thrilling journey to find out all the connections and just what happened in this small town. I enjoyed the age range of characters and how the senior citizens who start a podcast and try to solve this true crime lend some comedic relief. I did not guess the ending and I would definitely be interested to read more by this author.

Thank you for the gifted eARC!

This was my first thriller, but I feel a little let down with this one. I didn’t mind it, but I definitely wasn’t invested in this story. I was hoping for more of an adrenaline rush and sense of urgency while listening to this!

This was a thriller about a woman named Shelby who survives an attack on her life one evening. A year and a half later, she starts to receive threatening messages, possibly in regard to that evening 15 months ago. Her best friend Mackenzie happened to have her husband Leo go missing the very same night Shelby was attacked. The senior citizens who live in the home Shelby owns try to help her as well. This book had a couple of good twists and turns, but the seniors who helped were a bit too much for me. Even though it is kind of them to get involved, it seemed a bit of a stretch. Also, the way things ended felt rushed and a solution came out of nowhere. I did like the book, but it was not my favorite from Seraphine Nova Glass.

This book was a little bit slow for my taste, but I think others will enjoy it.

It starts off really strong with some shocking events, which had me hooked pretty quickly.

The rest of the book was very long and drawn out with a lot of characters that you need to keep up with, and a group of elderly armchair internet sleuths, so you very early on get the feeling that no one will believe them if they do discover anything, because of their age.

The book was fine, and I think people who are fans of slow burn mysteries will enjoy it.

Thank you @htp_hive, @htpbooks and @netgalley for both my e-ARC and ALC of Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass! Last year, I read On A Quiet Street by the author and LOVED it, so I was excited to check out another title by her.

Shelby was attacked at her friend Mack and Leo’s restaurant and left for dead, but she is saved just in time and survives. Fifteen months later, Shelby is focused on moving forward with life for herself, her husband, and two young daughters- until she starts receiving threatening messages that appear to be from her attacker. Mack’s husband Leo has also been missing since the night of the attack and Mack is a mess over both the loss/disappearance of her husband and the mess that Leo left behind for her. Shelby and Mack are trying to put together the pieces from that night to figure out what happened to Leo and who is trying to hurt Shelby- with very little help from the police and allllll the help of the senior citizen residents of The Oleander, an assisted living facility that Shelby manages.

There were elements of this novel that I enjoyed such as the pacing and multiple POVs, but I especially loved the endearing cast of characters at The Oleander- the true stars of the novel! However, it seemed like this was two different books merged into one. In some ways, it was a dark, twisty thriller, which I always love (and it was definitely dark!), but in other ways this book read as a cozy mystery with the humor and focus on the senior citizen sleuths at The Oleander. I think the book had the opportunity to successfully go in one direction, but in trying to accomplish both it seemed a little disjointed and in a bit of an identity crisis over what it wanted to be. The ending was also a bit of a stretch and appeared to tie up a little *too* nicely. I did really enjoy On A Quiet Street and would still be interested in checking out another title by the author, but this one was just a miss for me.

3 Stars! 🌟 Huge thanks to Harlequin Audio & NetGalley for sending me the ALC! 🎧💌

Nothing Ever Happens Here was a mixed bag for me... it had me hooked at the start, but let’s just say it didn’t stay that way! I’ll be honest, it didn’t fully win me over like I’d hoped, but it still had a few redeeming moments that kept me going.

Shelby Dawson survived a brutal attack 15 months ago, and she’s just trying to move on with her life. But guess what? Someone’s not done with her. She gets a threatening note on her car windshield, and that’s when the drama begins! Add in a viral case, a group of senior citizens causing some chaos, and a small-town setting, and boom—things go from bad to worse.

The pacing was... kinda all over the place! 🚶‍♀️ At times, it was dragging and hard to get into, especially with the multiple POVs. There were just too many characters, and I was left trying to remember who was who. Some were super interesting, like the senior citizen squad, who definitely added some much-needed color to the story. Florence’s chapters? The best part, no doubt! She was fun, and I was invested in her storyline more than the others.

But oh boy, the ending? 🤦‍♀️ It was like the author threw in a twist just for the sake of it, and honestly? It was too much. 🙄 The big reveal? Kinda unbelievable and had me rolling my eyes so hard! 😑 The plot got a bit too OTT, and I was left wondering how I ended up here.

On the bright side, the humor was a pleasant surprise! I didn’t expect to get some laughs in the middle of all this suspense, but I’m glad the author brought that balance. It kept things from being too heavy!

Overall, I didn’t hate it, but I’m not completely sold on picking up more of Seraphina Nova Glass’s books just yet. I loved her character development, but the story? Eh, it didn’t totally capture me like I wanted it to. 🤷‍♀️ If you're a fan of twisty thrillers and small-town mysteries, you might enjoy this, but for me... it’s just a “meh” in the thriller department.

So, Nothing Ever Happens Here was a fun ride in some spots, but it didn’t hit all the marks for me. I’ll still keep an eye out for what this author writes next, but for now, this one’s just okay!

Nothing Ever Happens Here by Nova Glass is perfect for fans of the tv show A Man on the Inside! The novel follows two best friends, one who was left to die in a locked freezer and one whose husband disappeared leaving her with his debts. Who is going to solve this mystery? The useless small-town town police? Absolutely not. Deciding they've had enough of it, a small group of friends who live in a retirement home decide that it's up to them! Mixing some cozy mystery/Scooby-Doo Gang tropes with a suspenseful thriller, this book is highly entertaining and will keep you guessing.

This was a fast- paced story, but lacked twists and suspense. The characters and multi-POV were ok, but overall the plot and especially the ending were lackluster. As always, Britanny Pressley killed her audio portion. The other two did well, but couldn't compare.

I loved the first book I read by this author, so this may just not have connected with me personally. I will definitely check out her other work.

Thank you to Harlequin Audio and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I wanted to like this book more than I did, the premise was interesting, the setting, and all the senior citizens trying to help solve a crime while making a podcast but unfortunately the story fell a little flat for me.
