okay i swear i read the synopsis for this book before i requested it and i did not get the double love triangle vibe.
the only acceptable love triangle in my eyes is jem, will, and tessa from the infernal devices. so imagine my surprise when this women falls in love at first sight with a guy she later learns is IN A BIT OF A RELATIONSHIP. no. there were a bit too many people involved in the story and i think our main character could have had different arcs and the book would've been a bit better.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons for allowing me to read an ARC of Love at First Sight by Laura Jane Williams, in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely loved this story! Jessie is adorable! She's one of those characters who grabs your heart from page one and takes you on a hilarious, heartfelt ride you won’t forget.
The witty dialogue, charming characters (Henry is precious), and a few life lessons sprinkled along the bumpy road made this such an enjoyable read. It’s heartfelt, funny, and just the right amount of emotional.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from Laura Jane Williams!

A love triangle is good, when it was written well. I really did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I really wanted to love this book, the description and the premise align with everything I love to read, but I really could not get into it. I pushed myself to finish it because I always finish ARC’s that I read.

I’m bummed because I have enjoyed this author in the past but this wasn’t doing it for me. For example, she learned so much about this man (first name, job, college, they even went to a restaurant where EVERYONE knew him) yet she couldn’t figure out how to find him? Go to the restaurant and leave a note for him! Or do the most basic google search, it’s 2025! But then for him to be dating someone else when they had this crazy romantic day? Or immediately after? I don’t trust him even though I didn’t get to hear his explanation. I just…didn’t care? I knew this would be a love triangle and I should’ve known then it wasn’t going to be for me. It’s barely been a few weeks since and he’s already meeting a girlfriend’s son? Nope. He’s not worth it. Whether they met before or after he started dating Ali, either way he is trash. I read reviews once I decided to stop and to know it becomes a double love triangle? Nah.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC.

Love at First Sight had potential, but it fell flat for me from the very first chapter. The FMC’s persistent pessimism made it hard to connect or root for her, and the overall storytelling lacked the spark or emotional pull I was hoping for. Unfortunately, neither the e-ARC nor the ALC improved the experience—both formats felt equally uninspiring. I wanted to love this book, but it just never delivered.

Not the book for me.
Thank you NetGalley and Putnam books for this earc. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to like this book so bad! I loved the idea and it has a cute cover. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into it and wasn’t able to push through and finish

Love At First Sight by Laura Jane Williams started with a bang I loved the great meat cute and how she kept hoping he felt the same something that would soon be confirned by his actions but when the tragedy happened and he left without them exchanging numbers, I really thought the rest of the book would’ve been her trying to find him which would’ve been great have we got his perspective as well but no she does try to find him while at the same time doing her job being a nanny to seven year-old Henry who at times I found her emotional dependence on him was borderline indecent. Ask for Cal she does find him the only problem is he’s at the door of her boss Ollie with flowers in his hand and surprise surprise she learns although she knows him as Cal he is Ollie‘s boyfriend Vinny who she’s been dating. he whispers to her in the hallway I can explain everything but she should have just cut her losses and at the same time she has a tentative flirting relationship with her butcher Leo who seems crazy about her but according to Jesse he’s crazy about lots of women. I haven’t even mentioned her biggest dream which is to open up “stray kids.” some type of kids daycare or camp that let’s kids learn rules for their self at the same time having many volunteers and workers and high yellow vest on the periphery making certain they don’t kill each other I guess? I mean if they’re supervision… IDK I didn’t get the whole thing so I really was vague on how I felt about it. Jesse has lots of personal problems as well her dad is marrying a younger woman who she doesn’t get along with and she goes to their engagement party and that doesn’t end well but she does go with Leo who again seems crazy about her but at the same time she still having a back-and-forth with cow whenever she sees him which made me think due to the way the book started it would end differently and to say I didn’t like the ending is an understatement there were many things I did love about this book it was very funny I loved Jessie‘s inner dialogue but whatever lots of things I didn’t like about the book how it almost seems as if she got her self worth from her relationship with little Henry all in the beginning she talked about how there was no good men and yet in a matter of a week she has two potentially supposedly good men vieing for her attention although one gets away… I’m just rambling so I will stop it here and say I have read a few good books by this author but this just isn’t one of them I really wish I would’ve read something else. You may like the book sadly I did not.#NetGalli, #BlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #LauraJaneWilliams, #LoveAtFirstSight,

It took me a few tries to get into this book, but once I was about 40% of the way in, the story flowed and I wanted to know more and more of what was happening next!
This novel is very British and I think as an American reader the language can feel a bit disjointed in a way we can’t put a finger on — my advice is read it in the voice of your favorite British actress and the cadence of the sentences will sound more natural. I’ve had this experience when reading classics from C.S. Lewis too.
By the end of the story, I felt all warm and fuzzy knowing everyone got a happy ending or character development that felt realistic and romantic.

The premise of this book is so cute - it's magical, sweet, and charming & it seemed extremely unique from other romance books.
Jessie is a fun character, I just know we would be friends! I was proud of her, frustrated with her, and I just truly felt all of the feelings with her/towards her.
The love triangle however was not fun. And seriously, when she still was struggling to choose 75% in? It doesn't leave much room for the choice to really feel real. There were also way too many storylines to follow that really drove me crazy.. It just overall was a miss - and really I wish it hadn't been, and hope that others love it far more than I did.

This was a rocky one for me by an author who tends to be hit or miss for me. The start of the book was strong with an epic meet cute but then the guy disappears only to turn up later to be dating her boss (the mother of the boy she nannies). The best part of the book was the FMC's relationship with the little boy tbh, there are two romantic love interests and neither really worked for me. Even the end left me unsatisfied and felt overly convenient and abrupt. Okay on audio but definitely not a favorite for me. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review!

Sigh—the miscommunication trope is beaten to death here. Love at First Sight has a cute premise: Jessie meets Cal in London (one of my favorite cities) and spends the most romantic day with him… only to lose touch before they can exchange numbers. When she sees him again, he’s delivering flowers to someone else.
Jessie is working as a nanny while trying to start her own business, Stray Kids, and Cal isn’t the only man in the picture—there’s also Leo, who she dismisses as a player. Between the love triangle, work drama, family tensions, and business struggles, the plot juggles a lot, and at times it feels like too much. The book leans more toward women’s fiction with a romance thread, and Henry, the child she nannies for, is by far the most consistently likable character.
I’m not a fan of heroines who seem to believe only a romantic partner can make them happy, and Jessie’s indecisiveness and occasional immaturity made it hard to root for her. The ending is happy, but it felt like a long road to get there. Cute in parts, but not entirely satisfying.

I absolutely adored this!
Anything set in London gets me every time, but I loved the meet cute, the story, the strife, loved it all!

Love at First Sight had a meet-cute that made me go “aww” at first and then a little bit frustrated at how things developed
Without giving too much of the book away, Jessie is a nanny who gets whisked into a total rom-com moment when a fire alarm in Whole Foods throws her into the arms of Cal, a total stranger. That day they vibe right away, and Jessie finds herself daydreaming about him… until Cal shows up again at her nanny job with a bunch of roses. Cute, right? Except… they weren’t even for her.
But, real talk, Jessie also spends way too much time being wishy-washy. There’s also Leo, the local butcher, who feels like a total package…but she keeps chasing Cal even when things are, like, obviously messy. That triangle? It dragged and kinda felt forced.
Honestly, the writing is cozy and breezy, and there are fun characters and banter… but the tension never really pops, and the miscommunications felt extra repetitive. Jessie’s growth happens… just way too late in the story.
So yeah, it’s fine for a lazy afternoon when you want something sweet and not too heavy. But as a rom-com lover, I needed more spark and less “let’s keep making it complicated.”

Giving this book 3 stars is me being nice. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read Laura Jane Williams before and I love her books! I started reading this one with such high hopes for a cute story about love at first sight… then I got to read the plot and got like…? GURL???? Please run. Fast.
When I was close to 85% of the book, I lost my hope and I was ready to come here and make my review saying THIS STORY DID LEO SO DIRTY!!!?? And now the book is over, I am a little more happy with the ending but still think the same. This story did Leo SO DIRTY.
First of all, this FMC was insufferable. She was not mature for her age, kept pining over one night and a guy who was totally wrong for her. It was hard to root for her and even worse to root for them. The whole book she spent pining over him, and over very little. The guy was literally with someone else and telling her she was so interesting and right for him while literally seeing someone else. Again…. girl? Is that the kind of person you think as your one true love? It’s red flag after red flag! And she kept INSISTING on it. Even though the guy didn’t change. Didn’t break up. And their one “date” wasn’t all that great either.
But the story did Leo so dirty. He barely got the chance to shine, to be developed, to see their chemistry or relationship bloom… because the entire book was all about pining for Cal and he felt so much like a second prize / choice. He was there for her the entire book wanting her to notice him and showing up for her. And all he got was getting tagged as a playboy?? I don’t even get from WHERE, when literally she was running after a scumbag. So he deserved more. More from her, from this relationship and the ending was so rushed I could barely enjoy. Even her “grand gesture” was embarrassing and felt forced.
Anyway, it was an easy to read book, and I read it fast but I honestly suffered through most of it and wanted to punch a bunch of characters in the face. Giving 3 stars for Leo and India, cause they deserved it and were the only characters who cared and that I loved. And I guess if it made me feel so strongly about the characters, even if it’s a love or hate situation, at least you did something right? I cared for the story so I just thought they deserved better.

This was SO close to a 5⭐ read for me. I really enjoyed this sweet romcom. It hit all the right notes- didn't take itself too seriously, was fun and fast paced, was at times silly and had a great story.
You find yourself really rooting for the FMC, Jesse. Jesse has a meet cute with a random guy at the grocery store during a fire drill and leaves the exchange without his contact information after the perfect day together. Comedy ensues and you'll never guess where he turns up in her life.
I enjoyed the plot twists and the story kept me guessing until the very end. I laughed out loud several times and ate this book up.
Jesse had great character growth- going from not valuing or speaking up for herself, to HBIC was wonderful to watch. My only complaint would be Cal's character arc and how it was (or wasn't resolved) and did a complete 180.
Henry is the real star of this book- his delightful insights were inspiring and touching to see.

I enjoyed the concept of the book with the missed connection. The story was a little all over the place and moved quick. I was not expecting the twist at the end at all.
All that said, you cannot help but root for Jessie, our main character. This story is more about her than just a romance. This is very low spice like blink and you'll miss it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the e-ARC. This review is my own opinion.

Cute premise. Jessie meets Cal unexpectedly and it turns into her most romantic day ever. But they are separated before exchanging numbers. When she sees Cal again he is bringing flowers to someone else, not her. First I loved being in London. It is one of my favorite cities and reminds me it's been a few years since I have been there. Jessie is working as a nanny and wants to start her own business called Stray Kids but needs to secure funding. Cal isn’t the only man in Jessie’s life, there is Leo who shows interest in her. But she dismisses him as she sees him as a player.
Between the love triangle, her boss and work, business prospects, dealing with her dad and his fiancé, there are a lot of plot lines going on and it feels a bit too much. The book leans towards women’s fiction with romance. Henry, the child, is the mostly consistently likable character. I am not fond of main characters who believe that only a man (or romantic partner) will complete them or make them happy. That isn’t the lesson I want for my 30 year old single daughter. And Jessie is indecisive and her actions are immature at times. The story does work out to a happy ending, but it felt longer than necessary to get there.
This is my third book by the author and she seems to consistently get 3 stars from me. Also it appears the thing I enjoy consistently is the London settings. (It gets mentioned in each review.)

Loved the concept and how this whole thing turned out - really rooted for the main character. Beginning felt slightly slow.

generally well done and cute romance that goes together really well with some light flairs and interesting feels. 4 stasr. tysm for the arc.
