This was a fun enemies to lovers romance! Gracie is a medical resident that is planning on becoming an OBGYN. Julian is also a medical resident in the same pursuit. When they met, there was tension due to some rumors. However, they quickly moved past the tension and sparks flew!
Overall, I would give this book 2.5 stars. I found the plot very confusing and the characters confusing as well. It was incredibly long with no substance to half the book. I thought the character development was also severely lacking. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a free review!

I finished this in 24 hours because I literally couldn’t put it down! If you love rom-coms and medical dramas, this one’s for you.

Julian and Grace had me hooked from the very beginning! I loved their chemistry, their banter, and watching their relationship grow over the years.
I also really enjoyed the group of residents - their friendships and their “therapy sessions” were such a highlight. The medical drama felt authentic but never overwhelming, and the mental health representation was handled with care.
Also... the way this story shows how quickly women are judged in male-dominated spaces and how fast rumors can shape perception? Spot. On.

Big thanks to NetGalley and HTP for a copy of this book! 🩵

What an amazing story. The characters were amazing and so was the storyline. I love the romance. I'm glad it ended with a happily ever after.

I didn't even get to the three HP references before the vibes of this book failed. But the fact that they're in here totally checks out. The initial premise of this book is so sexist and anti-sex worker that I couldn't continue to read this book. Completely ruined any interest I had in this book.

Love Sick is a witty, heartwarming debut set in the high-stakes world of medical residency. Grace Rose, a brilliant OB-GYN resident, is trying to rebuild her reputation after a damaging rumor while clashing (and eventually connecting) with fellow resident Julian Santini.
Deidra Duncan, an OB-GYN herself, brings authentic hospital scenes to life, making the emotional rollercoaster of Grace and Julian’s relationship feel real and grounded. Their chemistry is electric, their banter sharp, and their growth, both personal and romantic, is genuinely satisfying.
Perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers romances with a medical twist, Love Sick delivers equal parts humor and heart.
Thank you to Canary Street Press for the ARC!

This book was incredible. I enjoyed it a lot. It really highlighted a lot of injustices that women in med face on daily basis. There was also a focus on a traumatic past relationship and it was all very relatable and realistic.
Their connection was great, there was angst and this book contained so much emotional depth. I would definitely read more by this author.
The narrators did a great job.
Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, Canary Street Press and Deidra Duncan for giving me an advance reader’s copy of this book.

Thank you to htpbooks, readmirabooks, netgalley and of course Deidra Duncan for this ARC
This debut hospital romance was cute and fun. I definitely felt the Grey’s Anatomy vibes! The author’s real-life experiences as an OB-GYN really shine through here making it feel authentic, emotional, and sometimes heavy (trigger warnings for miscarriage, birth trauma).
The spice was a bit of a curve ball for me as there was open door for the lower spice scenes, but fade-to-black for the spicier scenes. Not bad at all, just unexpected!
For a debut, the chemistry and tension were on point. This is perfect for Ali Hazelwood fans

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the banter and tension, I loved how it was based on the medical field as a nurse I want more books like this. The chapters were a little long but the moved pretty quickly!

Love Sick had so much potential—and in many ways, it delivered. Deidra Duncan crafted characters that felt real. Their quirks, their dialogue, their emotional messiness—it all worked. I genuinely enjoyed spending time with them and found myself rooting for their connection, even when the pacing started to drag.
And that’s where the book lost me a bit. The story would have absolutely shined as a novella. There were moments that felt unnecessarily stretched out, with a timeline that lingered longer than it needed to. A tighter, more condensed version would’ve packed a stronger emotional punch and kept the momentum alive from start to finish.
Now, my favorite part of the whole thing? Their mutual obsession with Mi Cocina and Mambo Taxis. It’s the ultimate girls’ night spot, and seeing it show up in the book made me grin. The choice was spot-on and honestly gave the whole story a fun, relatable boost. You just know those characters would’ve been in that booth next to you on a Friday night.
All in all, Love Sick was a solid read with great characters and a few standout moments, but I wish it had gotten to the heart of things just a little faster.

I was so excited to get Love Sick as an ARC because I am a nurse, so this book resonated with me as the setting was in the hospital, and it follows two residents starting out in their career. I actually had a difficult time getting into this book. I was approved for this book back in February and automatically started reading it and I think I only got through about 11% of the book before I took a break. The beginning of the book was really slow and it could not keep my interest. There was almost too much detail about the hospital, and it took forever for the two main characters to actually interact. Because of this I took a break from the book and did not pick it back up until May, which I am glad I did because I was able to feel connected to the story and zoom through it. The story follows Grace and Julien, both OBGYN residents, who start off on the wrong foot after meeting. They are enemies but continue to be in the same friend circle as they have to survive residency years together. But overtime, they help each other navigate the almost impossible workload and start to fall for each other. I really enjoyed their story together as they go from enemies to friends to something more. They realize that their opinions about each other are wrong as they grow closer. Julien is funny, sweet, and protective of Grace, especially always defending her to others. He was all in, while Grace was hurt in the past, so she is hesitant to start a relationship. Grace is smart, confident, and sweet when your dive deeper into her character. Her facade of being an ice queen is all made up to protect herself. The scenes with Grace and Julien were simply the best. I also really liked seeing the author exploring what happens when a female is in a male dominated field and what occurs when there is bullying, rumors, and sex shaming. It was very relatable and true. And it was done in a thoughtful way. I also enjoyed getting to know the side characters. I think what really hurt my rating was that the book was just too slow and felt too long as it follows the first 2 years of residency. Even as a medical professional, I felt like I was skipping parts of the book because it was so much detail. I also did not like how certain things were resolved, especially with Grace's best friends' betrayal and the third act break up. Overall, it was an interesting read taking place in the hospital, but it was hard to get past certain parts of the plot.

Honestly, so cute.
I having been itching for a ?medical? romance and this FILLED MY CUP!! The banter, the workplace setting, the slow burn, the chemistry... so good!!
BRB going to rewatch Grey's for the 10th time.
Thank you for the ARC :) xx

I have never read a romance set in the medical field before and that aspect of this book was fascinating. However, I was constantly pulled out of the story by the incessant pop culture references - and so many HP ones.
This had the potential to be such an interesting, heartfelt romance that dealt with important topics (rumors in the workplace, slut shaming, abuse, etc) but I felt barraged by so many inane references to movies and shows that it really made me take it much less seriously.

Rating: 5⭐️/5
I absolutely adored this novel. As a surgical resident, it was so fun to find a book that matched with what my job is. I actually don’t see a lot of medical romance novels (although there’s definitely a lot of TV shows to binge). Julian and Grace’s story was everything I wanted after a lot of fantasy recently. Grace and Julian both have their flaws, and their character arcs are lovely and just what the two of them needed.
I highly recommend this one! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Grace is a first year resident for a prestigious OB-GYN program. Grace has trouble trusting others after a bad relationship during med school, and her walls go up even once again when new rumors start circulating about her at a mixer. Julian who is Grace’s love interest, doesn’t agree with the rumors and stands up for Grace when he can. This sparks a relationship as friends through studying and creating a united front in the medical world.
It’s a quick and easy story that has a lot of elements I love and has that greys anatomy feel I’ve always loved. I think I was unable to connect to the writing style like I’d hope. Felt a tad choppy for me in areas. Still a cute and easy read if you’re looking for a medical romance!
This was a debut and I can’t wait to see and read what’s next from this author! Told in dual POV with a forward timeline over the course of 4 years which was different but also super interesting.

I was so ecstatic to be approved for this ARC. I’m a labor and delivery nurse, and I work with a lot of residents. So I could definitely relate to the context. (Side note: Not all nurses are like the ones in this book. I love most of the residents I work with. ☺️) Then I discovered that the author is an OB-GYN and did her residency in the city I work in, and it made me even more excited!
I absolutely loved Love Sick. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. Add in that it’s also a romcom/medical drama, and it was *chef’s kiss.* It’s a slow burn but oh so worth it.
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing/Canary Street Press, NetGalley, and Deidra Duncan for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

Love Sick by Deidra Duncan
My sincere thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing/Canary Street Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read Love Sick. I give my unbiased opinion of it in the following review.
This book follows two OB-GYN interns as they go through their training over several years. In the beginning, Grace and Julian get off on the wrong foot. Grace is battling a rumor that she slept her way into the program, and the first time she and Julian meet he brings it up and she has to defend herself to several male residents. Julian is definitely NOT one of her favorite people, but they spend a lot of time together as they are in the same group of 5 OB residents. They do a lot of bickering which over time transitions to hate flirting. The banter and the slow burn is so excellently written that when they finally give in, I could hardly contain my happiness. Of course, the road to love is not always smooth in fiction so Julian and Grace still need to work through some stuff which at times made me impatient. There is a twist at the end that I didn't predict. Overall, I really liked this a lot. The author is herself an OB-GYN which was evident in the authentic description of what it is like to be a resident as well as the use of medical jargon. Even though this book is fiction, it felt like she was giving us a peek into her world. If you like medical romance, I highly recommend this book.

This might be one of my favorite books of the year! It was wholesome and adorable, while still discussing deep topics like the added difficulties that women in the workplace face. I love reading Grace and Julian’s story and loved how much of a slow burn this book was. I couldn’t recommend this book enough.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the e-ARC.

When I saw that this was a romance novel about OB-GYN residents I had no choice but to pick it up. I was even more excited when I learned that the author is an OB-GYN herself.
Overall, I enjoyed "Love Sick". While this book is definitely a romance, and the romance is the primary arc of the overall plot, I do think this book was almost equally about the experience of being a new resident. I had a lot of sympathy for residents before, I have even more now. I loved the story of two rivals falling in love in that high stakes setting and also reading about them overcoming other struggles that came with the territory of residency.
I was so thrilled to see the inclusion of a vulvovaginal pain patient in the book, even if it's an anecdote told to a POV character rather than a patient we meet on page. People with vulvovaginal pain are underrepresented in both the romance genre and OB-GYN residency curricula. I adored the inclusion of how Asher was determined to help his patient, even if he didn't immediately have all of the tools or knowledge to do so. Just like in the book, many vulvovaginal pain patients do find relief from off-label botox injections.
However, while I am so glad and grateful for the inclusion of this anecdote in the book, there was one minor detail that bothered me a little. Asher shared that his patient's pain resolved after childbirth. I unfortunately do not think that this is a realistic patient experience and it somewhat perpetuates myths that vulvovaginal pain can be "cured" by pregnancy and childbirth. I've heard many stories of people who are told to "just have a baby." I know this wasn't the intent here, but I would be doing a disservice to not mention it.

Thank you NetGalley and Canary Street Press for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

This book drew me in because medicine and rom-coms are two of my favorite things! This was an enjoyable, quick summer read and definitely was unique in the sense that it was written by someone actually in the medical field. I thought the chemistry between the two characters was great, and it definitely felt more realistic due to the unique perspective of the author. I've had exposure to the medical field but thought that this was a great representation for those who may not have as much knowledge and a look behind the curtain as to what goes on. Looking forward to what Deidra Duncan puts out next!

I got to read this as an Arc. For someone that doesn't really like a slow burn, I enjoyed this book. I liked following Grace and Julian through their residency. I loved watching their relationship develop. If you enjoy hospital shows or enjoy books around doctors/medicine you will enjoy this. Watching these characters grow and develop was well thought out and written well. I enjoyed their banter and his siblings were always cracking me up. Overall I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend.
