This was fun. I enjoyed most everything about the story and may even have given it a 5 if there was a bit more to the end. I appreciated the multiple prologues which alost made up for that. It was a good story that kept my interest and had a good amount of intrigue. Never read this author but will go back and maybe even to the podcast.

I loved this propulsive thriller by journalist and writer Jo Piazza, whose list of accomplishments echoes the women she is parodying in this novel about social media influencers gone wild. Wild only in popularity and behind closed doors, as these women are selling the ideals of a traditional life on the land while raking in the bucks selling bespoke aprons and 4 figure strollers to their legions of followers. Journalist Lizzie is excited but cautious when her old college bestie Bex messages her out of the blue. Bex is now Rebecca, a homesteading, homeschooling influencer who wears prairie dresses while perfectly managing six children and a happy ranch home life with her handsome husband. But the picture-perfect life is never what it seems and Bex is ready for a change, and she wants Lizzie to have the exclusive on her new big deal. Read this if you like a satisfying ending and heroines who are not picture perfect. A very quick and fun work!

Love mysteries and can’t stop yourself from obsessing over Instagram content from tradwives like Ballerina Farms and Nara Smith? Well then have I got the book for you!
Lizzie is a wife, mother of two, and writer for a struggling women’s magazine. Bex is a tradwife influencer with five kids, a hunky cowboy husband, a picture perfect life on a ranch, and millions of followers. The two were college best friends until they had a falling out, and now Lizzie just watches Bex’s life from afar via social media.
Until one day, out of the blue, Bex reaches out to Lizzie and invites her to come and visit and write a story about her, and off Lizzie goes. But the night that she arrives, Bex’s husband is killed, Bex is the prime suspect, and Lizzie seems to be the only one who can figure out what is going on.
I devoured this book and loved the glimpse it provides into the behind-the-scenes of influencers. The plot was unpredictable and kept me on my toes until the very last paragraph!

A look into the world of the "tradwife influencer" and the dark secrets that exist, Everyone is Lying to You, explores female friendships, abusive relationships, and the danger of believing what you see online.
Lizzie and Bex were best friends in college. When Bex ghosts Lizzie after a cross country move, the friendship ends. Fifteen years later, Bex has rebranded herself as Rebecca. She's married with five children and an online following of millions. Lizzie is a struggling magazine writer with two children of her own. One night, Rebecca proposes a career changing article for Lizzie: an exclusive on her newest venture and an inside look at the MomBomb convention.
While at the conference, Rebecca goes missing and her husband is found murdered. Lizzie must work her way through the tangled web of influencers to find Rebecca and clear her name.

This helped feed my momtok obsession post the secret lives of mormon wives. Do I wish there was a tad bit more drama and build up in this book, yes. Did I still enjoy it? yes yes! It was a solid thriller that I really enjoyed.

Everyone is lying to you. Know that the influencers on social media are lying and manipulating you. This book showed how people can be drawn in to this false world

WOO!!! Jo Piazza never misses! Her books, this one especially, are rapturous. I couldn’t put “Everyone is Lying to You” down! It was twisty and thrilling (but not creepy) and dove into such a fascinating world. There are a couple of fun twists but nothing overly shocking…in fact, most of it I caught right before the reveal, but it didn’t make any of that less juicy! The mom blog-o-sphere is wild world and I appreciated what I am sure is a well researched look behind the curtain!

A mystery/thriller that pulls back the curtain on the world of influencers? Yes, please! This book did not disappoint. I appreciated that is showed these women as the shrewd businesswomen that they are, running multi-million dollar companies based off their "lifestyle." There were some great twists that I did not expect at all. I loved the happily ever after for almost everyone involved. Highly recommended!

A thriller using the recent trend of tradwives for its story seemed like such a fun concept when I first heard about this book, and I am happy to say it delivered. Not only was this book a fun thriller, but it was an interesting look into the lives of influencers and what goes on behind the scenes. It's no huge secret that what we see of these people's lives on the internet are far from the full story. That made this a perfect way to set up a thriller. As the title says, everybody in this book is lying about something or other, and until the very last page, the lies are still unravelling to the reader. Overall, a very enjoyable read.

3.5 stars
I've said it before and it absolutey bears repeating here: tradwife life on it's own seems absolutely horrific to me, so any thriller set in this space is bound to be a success (to me) in some capacity. This wasn't a particularly complicated version of the main motif, but it does have some added twists that make it extra sinister.
Lizzie and Bex are pals, and then one day, they cut ties. Unlike the typical internet stalking many folks do these days in scenarios like this, Lizzie's experience is really heightened by the fact that Bex is now Rebecca, Tradwife Extraordinaire. This new, creepy version of Bex has a lot of followers, a lifestyle that's giving keep sweet, and some really odd discrepancies. The two reconnect just in time for a major crime and big suspicions to set in.
There aren't a lot of surprises here, but as noted, there's a twist that makes this one memorable. Also, while there are hard patriarchal vibes in all tradwife content, this one goes further with the depictions of exactly how some of the men are violating the women's rights, bodies, and autonomy. Next level.
I found this engaging and creepy and really to be hitting the mark for genre and motif-specific expectations.

Jo Piazza’s writing is fast paced and purposefully disorienting in the best way. The novel is told from multiple points of view, and the reader is doled out pieces of the story in fragments that shift across time and perspective. This layered approach mirrors the central theme -- the gap between perception and truth. Each character shares their version of events, the reader is drawn further into the web of image management, half-truths, and competing narratives. Jo Piazza uses the transitions to skillfully complicate and illuminate the story at exactly the right times.
Everyone is Lying to You explores the dynamics of friendships, both those between women and those between men. While they can feel like chosen family, Piazza deftly captures how love and loyalty can exist right along with envy and jealousy. As success, public admiration, and money come into play, the friendships themselves take on a performative sheen, shaped more by appearances than authenticity..
What lingers with me most after finishing this novel is the deep emotional fractures beneath all that performance. Yes, we lie. Yes, we curate our lives. These are symptoms of past traumas, unmet needs, and the desire for power and belonging. Much in the same way we consume influencer content, we are simultaneously identifying with the characters and being repulsed by them.
This book is equal parts gripping and thought provoking. For anyone fascinated and/or disillusioned by influencer culture, parasocial dynamics, and the cost of comparison, Everyone is Lying to You delivers.

Everyone is Lying to You not only includes the characters but also the author. What we think we read is deceptive, which of course is the life of an influencer. I am not really the audience for a novel about social media influencers, although in fairness, the author Jo Piazza, whose books I usually enjoy, is using influencers and social media as a way to explore a level of deception that ends in murder. The pacing is slow, which made it difficult for me to stick with this novel, but since the payoff works well, I would encourage other readers to stick with it.,
Bex/Rebecca. and her friend Lizzie are at the center of Everyone is Lying to You. Lizzie's role seems too peripheral to work well, but Bex is definitely the more interesting of these two women. This is a comedy/thriller, which is good. Readers need the light moments.
Thank you to Penguin Group and NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Readers who find social media influences captivating will love this novel. I am not really the audience, since I do not see a necessary purpose in influencers. But I suspect a lot of people will love these characters and the murder.

I loved this book, it was such a dark, intense read that kept me reading hungrily all the way through. I'm obsessed and will be using it for our book club!

This book was really great - true crime in the influencer space... sign me up every time. Every aspect of this book felt believable, which is such an accomplishment considering it takes place inside the world of social media influencers. It really helped that one of the two main characters was an "outsider" that could take the reader along. But even the main influencer character was relatable. I will definitely be recommending this book when it hits our shelves.

Loved this! The modern day twist on this mom-fluencer thriller. Kept me so engaged and I really didn't know where it was going to go. Really enjoyed the dual POVs and the ending was a wild ride!

This book shines a light on influencers and the reality of social media. Figuring out who is lying and who is telling the truth makes this book hard to put down.

I received a copy for review. All opinions are my own. Wow this book was absolutely full of shocking twists. It’s such a modern and relatable book for the times we’re in now when it comes to influencers and social media and how it’s easy to present yourself one way when you real life is nothing at all like that. I definitely enjoyed the dynamic between Bex and Lizzie. Such a good thriller to read in one or two sittings.

The epilogues! Geez, the epilogues!
Good story, with completely relatable people, kept me guessing PAST the end. Usually epilogues are for wrapping up little details and leaving the reader feeling optimistic and "finished". In this case, they were absolutely essential to answering questions that were still wide open. They were really not epilogues, but just chapters that could've been called "1 Year Later" or something like that.
There was a lot going on in this book, but what struck me the most was the behind-the-scenes insight into the world of blogging, social media, and influencers. There is a TON of book club fodder here!
Keep it up, Jo Piazza! I look forward to more from you.

I'm not usually a murder mystery reader, but the premise of this book was interesting enough to pull me in. Lizzie and Bex are interesting characters, and I enjoyed the multiple viewpoints. I liked the view on influencers, especially mom influencers. I enjoyed this title.

A fascinating twist on the world on influencers. The dual point of view upped the suspense and was a great way to learn the story a bit at a time.
