Well someone has to tell us the truth!!
Let it be Jo Piazza with her new book “Everyone Is Lying to You “
A dynamic and twisted story about the world of social media influencers that will have you questioning everything you see. Everything is not how it appears and just when you think you know what happened there is another puzzling twist.
If you like dark comedy and domestic suspense, this book is for you.
Excellent writing and the pacing was ideal.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

In a world of influencers, what is real and what is for the cameras is not always black and white. Rebecca (Bex) is beautiful, successful and has over a million followers. But is her life really what it appears on that tiny phone screen. Lizzie, still hurt from their falling out 15 years prior, is curious but cautions when Rebecca, or as she knows her Bex, reaches out to her about a possible interview. Struggling with juggling marriage, kids, the only one with a job in the house and self doubts, Lizzie sets out into the world of influencers and trying to prove if her former best friend is a murderer or not. Told from alternating points of view, Piazza weaves an intriguing behind the scenes world of Instagram famous women and the lengths they will go to, to stay famous, possibly even murder.

I was kept in suspense throughout the novel. The twist at the end made me gasp. A look into the lies that influencers live to keep the income flowing.

The amount of information about influencer culture was quite revelatory. I knew some of it was fake, but not like all of it. Everyone is Lying to You was a really interesting deep dive into this world.

Lizzie and Rebecca were close in college but circumstances led to Rebecca ghosting Lizzie. Lizzie has followed Rebecca’s social media where she’s become quite the tradwife but things are not always what they seem. Lizzie agrees to write a magazine article for Rebecca’s big announcement being made at an influencer conference. Things begin to unravel rather quickly making Everyone is Lying to You hard to put down.

Thank you NetGalley and Dutton for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A group of female influencers meet at a conference and their picture perfect lives are not at all what is shown onscreen. When one of the influencer's husbands is murdered, much is revealed.

I flew through this new tradwife thriller from Jo Piazza. I knew a book about influencers from Piazza was great- I adore her podcast, Under the Influence, especially the early episodes that deep dive into momfluencers. The book follows Bex and Lizzie, best friends in college who abruptly lost touch right before Bex because “Rebecca”, a homesteading momfluencer and mom to six. After years of no contact, Bex reaches out to Lizzie, a reporter now working for a women’s magazine and asks her to write an exclusive interview. Lizzie flies out to an influencer conference for her reunion with Bex, then a murder and lots of twists and turns follow. I loved the dive into influencer life, though some of the twists I thought were a bit predictable (until the epilogue, didn’t see that coming). This is definitely a fun summer read and would promote a lot of discussion about how much society dismisses influencers as “silly” when they’re actually CEOs running giant media companies/brands.

I enjoyed this book immensely. I've never been particularly interested in "influencers," and parts of this story felt voyeuristic to me. Perhaps it has something to do with the way influencers communicate. It was different and made the story even more compelling.

Taking a deep dive into what motivates people to do the things they do is always a draw for me, and this book did not disappoint. Jo Piazza spun a tale that kept me hooked right from the start. The gossipy feel of the information being shared made the read feel decadent. The characters were relatable, and not perfect which helped the story feel plausible.

I thank Netgalley and Penguin Group Dutton for the opportunity to read Everyone is Lying to You.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance readers copy of Everyone Is Lying To You by Jo Piazza.
I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but found myself bored with the second half. However, I was very satisfied with the ending.

What woman hasn't at sometime thought she wasn't skinny enough or that she needed a new product to have better skin or hair because of the media that we have constantly showcasing what is supposed to be beautiful or sexy? Influencers, murder, mystery and a journalist that works to uncover the truth: deliver you a page turner that you can't put down.

I was looking for a new domestic thriller to read so when the invitation to read an advanced copy of this book popped up on NetGalley appeared I was delighted. The world and characters are all too familiar to anyone who is on social media—but the mysterious twist will have you second-guessing it all! Most of the plot points were easy to see coming but a few surprised me! A good, quick read!

This book feels extremely timely and overall, I did enjoy it! I really liked going back and forth between the two main character's perspectives and especially getting to learn what was really behind the facade of Rebecca the influencer/tradwife. The pacing felt a little off to me and the reveal at the end was pretty rushed. I think it actually could have been a little longer to lean more into some story development to give the reveal more of an punch at the end.

This book was incredibly suspenseful—it felt like watching a movie unfold right in front of me. I couldn’t stop turning the pages, eager to find out what would happen next. The story stirred a wide range of emotions, from sadness to shock, and kept me fully engaged the whole way through. A truly powerful and immersive read!

I liked the tie-in with social media and #tradwives - I think that will appeal to many readers. I felt like it was very predictable and I'm not one that always guesses where the twists are going to take you. Still, it was a quick, fun read, and I thought the epilogue did a good job of wrapping it up.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Dutton for an advanced copy of this book.

With TradWife influencers taking over our feeds this feels like the perfect time to release something like this. I loved the dark humor and the twists and turns. Sprinkle in some real life insights and hard truths. I really enjoyed this.

This was definitely the better of the trad wife fiction that seems to be prevalent now. I enjoyed this book. The characters of Bex and Lizzie were well-written. Bex and lizzie were best friends in college, until a careless act ruined their friendship. Bex is not a social media star, showing off her ranch with her perfect husband and children. Lizzie is now finding herself in a precarious employment situation as a journalist. When Bex invites Lizzie to break a big news story, they confront the past and the future. This is ultimately a novel about friendship, choices, and finding your way back.

Contemporary fiction about social media influencers have been popping up frequently in the past year. This is one of my favorites because it’s a fast-paced thriller written with a sense of humor so the reader feels in on some eye-rolling moments. While we all know that social media often just shows the highlights of a person’s life, this book takes it one step further in showing the dark side of trying to show everyone that life is perfect. The book starts off with the murder and then it’s off and running making it impossible to put down.

I downloaded this for the premise, and the premise was great. I don't know that the plot actually held that much together, but I enjoyed reading it. The sequel it seems to be setting up around Olivia and Veronica sounds like it'll be fun!

I really liked this concept. I haven't read much about influencers and the trad wife trend but I've listened to podcasts. I liked the twists and turns as well.

Everyone Is Lying to You is a spot-on peek behind the perfectly curated lives we see on social media. It is a first-rate thriller that keeps you guessing - I could not put this book down. Plus, the descriptions of the momfluencers were very funny. My library patrons will love it!
