I wish I'd discovered Ross before now!

I'll be honest, the only reason I chose to read this book was because I live just a few miles from Horsey Mere - yep, it's a real place, with lots of seals, but no dead bodies - as far as I know! But by God, I wish I'd discovered this series earlier! Now I want to read all the Norfolk series, followed by the rest of Ross's books.

I loved it, from beginning to end. It's fast-paced, descriptive, full of great characters (well the good guys anyway) and lots and lots of references to real places in Norfolk and Suffolk. We only moved here a couple of years ago, but it's cool to see the pop-up references to the villages and tourist attractions.

The story was brilliant, if dark, but honestly, stuff like human trafficking is prevalent and even though this is fiction, it's good to see it written about, and it'll definitely make you think about the completely evil people there are in this world.

Apparently this is the fourth book in the Norfolk series, and it can definitely be read as a standalone, but I'll certainly be revisiting Norfolk in the earlier books.

Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for the opportunity to read and review Death at Horsey Mere by Ross Greenwood.

Ashley Knight, now a Detective Inspector, is involved in two missing persons cases that have links to human trafficking that now seems centred in Norfolk. The story features many returning characters and disturbing crimes. It's a complex, pacy crime thriller with intelligent investigators and evil criminals. The twists are relentless, and when you think you know what's happening, you find things are not what they seem. The authentic settings, believable emotion, and complex characterisation make this an absorbing story. The ending is particularly intense and poignant.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

WoW. . . . . . . Death at Horsey Mere by Ross Greenwood is the 4th book in the excellent DS Ashley Knight series and I have loved this series from the very 1st book called Death on Cromer Beach. This book is full of twists and turns and has a great story. I love the main character DI Ashley Knight.

Now, DI Ashley Knight is freshly promoted and has enjoyed her first six months in charge even though it’s been a challenging time with her team focused on breaking down a network of people smugglers.

A teenage couple go missing in Suffolk, and a body is found near a lighthouse and two girls disappear from Norwich’s Golden Triangle, Hector makes a connection which chills Ashley to the bone. When another victim is found at Horsey Mere, the link to the ruthless criminals is obvious.

Now, can Ashley solve the case, or will the mysterious Typhon prove to be an unstoppable force?

WoW this book is another 5 star read and I highly recommend this series. Superb read,

DI Ashley Knight books in order to read. . . . . But you can read these books as a standalone book I so recommend you read all of these as you get a great feel of the main character.

Book 1 - Death on Cromer Beach
Book 2 - Death at Paradise Park
Book 3 - Death in Bacton Wood
Book 4 - Death at Horsey Mere

Big Thank you to NetGalley and especially Boldwood Books for my ARC. x

Another brilliant read from Ross Greenwood in the Norfolk Murders series. DI Ashley Knight has been promoted and when a young couple go missing it looks like they’ve runaway together. However it soon becomes clear that there is something more sinister happening when a body is found by a lighthouse and two girls vanish. Fast paced with plenty of twists this kept me totally engaged. There was plenty of depth to each character and they came across as very realistic, like you actually know them. A bonus for me is that I know the area where this is set extremely well so could easily visualise events. Hoping there is another one in the series! Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC

Death at horsey mere by Ross Greenwood.
Ds Ashley Knight book 4.
I really enjoyed this book. What an opening. Twisty and gripping from the start. The only book I haven't read in this series is book 3. I got into this book straight away. I loved the writing style and the story. I read this book in a few days. I did like the short chapters. I did like Ashley and her team. I wasn't expecting that. It did surprise me. I liked the ending. I hope there's more to come. I recommend this series.

I was lucky enough to read this on NetGalley and thoroughly enjoyed my first book by this author. This is part of a series but works well as a standalone read. It’s quite fast-paced with lots going on and there is a surprising twist … who doesn’t love a twist?
For me, the only thing that stopped it being 5 stars was the number of characters to keep track of, I found it confusing at times to remember who everyone was! That said, I liked the characters and their interactions felt natural.
The storyline is well-plotted, intricate and exciting. The setting is an important element of the writing and all the familiar places in Norfolk that are included are accurately described.
I recommend this book to those who like a well written police procedural, those who like a thrilling action-packed read, those who like a story with a strong sense of place and those who just want a cracking good read! I’ll be reading more by this author!

I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

This police procedural is part of the Norfolk Murders series. I have read one of the previous books in this series, so I remembered the protagonist, Detective Ashley Knight, and I quite enjoyed reading about Ashley again. At the start of the book, she's called upon to investigate a case of two missing girls. The two girls are known to be friends and are similar in appearance.

I liked all of the detectives, and how they worked together. The story flowed easily, and I found myself quite invested in the storyline; I wanted to know what had happened to these girls. It took me a few hours to read this one in its entirety, but it was a page turner.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

Death at Horsey Mere is a showcase of Ross Greenwood at his best - there are gritty prison scenes, human interaction, poignant moments, and organised crime gangs - plus kidnap, prostitution and murder.

This is number four in the Norfolk Murders series but it can be read on its own.

Our police investigator is DI Knight and this is her most challenging case yet. It revolves around a trafficking group who were active in Europe but have since moved to Norfolk and Suffolk.

Another Greenwood character from a different series, Inspector Barton, pops in, which is fun.

I enjoyed the vivid and evocative descriptions of the Norfolk surroundings, having never visited that area. It's a fast paced and tense thriller with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. I'm on the blog tour for this book on March 4.

Having read all the previous books in the series, I was really looking forward to this latest installment. I was not disappointed. The story was fast paced and held all the twists and turns that I have come to expect from Ross Greenwood. The characters continued to develop in their roles and relationships. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

3.5 stars
This is a good crime thriller based in and around Norfolk.
DI Ashley Knight is enjoying her new role and working with the team.
When two teenage girls are reported missing they are asked to investigate. When speaking to their families they realise it is very out of character for the girls to be out of contact, and the pressure is on to find them.
With another case in Suffolk showing some similarities to this one, Ashley and the team realise there is something big happening in the county.
They are determined to stop these criminals and save the girls but it’s not an easy task.
Thanks to Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this book.

This is book 4 of this series and, as usual, I am going to recommend you start from the beginning and read in order. Although the main story herein is self-contained, the characters all have backstories and you would probably have a better time with them if you do this.
So... Ashley Knight is now a DI and, as anyone who has been promoted knows, it's not easy being boss of people who used to be your peers. When we catch up with her, 6 months after said promotion, she seems to have bedded in nicely and, with her team, has been busy working on cracking a network of people smugglers. They have had some success but one main group are still going strong having evaded their endeavours to shut them down, and with no one talking, they have pretty much hit a brick wall in their investigations.
Meanwhile, a couple of teenage girls go missing which takes their attention. This is then connected to the disappearance of a different couple not long since. And then they slowly start to connect the dots to the people smugglers, and it becomes a race against time to track down the ringleaders and put a stop to their evil regime.
Oh my days. This book hit the ground running, grabbed me from the off, held me captive throughout, spitting me out at the end exhausted but wholly satisfied. I say exhausted but also quite emotionally spent too. As you will find out when you get there, I'm giving nothing away here.
It's also a very busy book with a lot going on. It'll help if you are already familiar with the main players as there are quite a few extras in the cast. But the author does a great job keeping all his juggling balls up in the air. There were a few things that confused me along the way, but knowing this author, and trusting him, I just held on to them, as I knew it would all come good in the end. And it did!
There is absolutely no superfluous waffle or padding to distract so it all gets on with itself very well indeed, with pacing matching narrative all the way through. Although the main story is rather dark and intense, there are lighter moments included which I found kept the book balanced and stopped it from getting too heavy.
All in all, a cracking addition to what is now a well established series. I really can't wait to see what happens next time. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Thank you to @netgalley that gave the option to read this as an ARC.

This is part of a series which a ds investigates the Norfolk murders

When a teenage couple go missing, the police aren’t too concerned. Young lovers often make bad choices.

Then a body is found near a Suffolk lighthouse, and shortly after, two girls seem to vanish into thin air. Freshly promoted DI Ashley Knight knows she has a battle on her hands to keep the public safe, and she’s going to need expert help.

Ashley turns to her old protégé, Hector Fade, seconded from The Met to analyse an avalanche of data. But neither Hector nor Ashley are prepared for the chilling connection his work uncovers to the body by the lighthouse.

Ashley, Hector and the team must break down a fiendishly complicated network of people smugglers, but another victim is found at Horsey Mere and their worst suspicions are realised. A member of the gang has gone rogue and is taking lives for fun. When Hector uncovers a pattern in the choice of victim, time is against the detectives to stop the murderer killing again.

This is a good police procedural book. I had not read any of the previous ones, this one seems to stand alone. There’s a lot going on in this book. It felt a alittle draggy at time and drawn out.

This is the fourth book in the series and although I hadn't read the earlier books I didn't feel it mattered. This is a good police procedural thriller that covers missing girls and the age old problem of human trafficking. It drew me in and kept me guessing… I will have to go back and read the earlier books as this was such a good one. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was hooked... Will leave you with shivers down your spine and chills in your heart. Some of the twists in this book left my jaw on the floor. The ending blew me away! Outstanding!

It was completely unputdownable... reeled me in right from the very start. The twists left me speechless. I did gasp out loud many times!

Readers, find some quiet alone time to settle in with this one because you won't stop reading until you've turned the final page. Highly recommended to fans of mysteries, suspense and thrillers.

Book four in the series and a first for me, not reading the previous three books in the series didn't affect my enjoyment but it probably would have added to It and made sense of a few snippets.

Nether the less this was a well paced engaging police procedural with a strong female character at its core.

The authors descriptive writing style brings clarity to the case, it's characters and the setting .in which it all unfolds.

Fourth in the Norfolk Murders series which I particularly enjoy for their detailed and authentic portrayal of Norfolk (particularly the area around Cromer) alongside an engrossing police procedural

Death at Horsey Mere is the 4th book in the Norfolk Murders series featuring newly promoted, DI Ashley Knight. The story opens with the abduction of two teenage girls which has similarities to the disappearance of a couple in Suffolk. It quickly becomes apparent that this is bigger investigation than the team thought it would be.

As is the style with Ross Greenwood’s books, this is a fast paced read full of twists and turns to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. All set against the backdrop of beautiful Norfolk locations. This can be read as a standalone as enough information is provided to bring in new readers however I would recommend reading the series in order to get the full experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed Death at Horsey Mere and really hope that there is a book 5 in the not too distant future!

This is a very good police procedural but for me the story line about trafficked women was not entertaining. The police officers are well drawn characters and the descriptions of Norfolk are excellent. I enjoyed the previous books in the series more and will read future books, it was just that this story wasn’t for me.
