Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
This series is so fun and unique. I loved being back in this world and with these beloved characters. I adored Rosie’s character and I enjoyed getting more of Duckers. Adam and Rosie both grew a lot throughout the book.

I was so excited to be back in this world after loving the first two books in the Hart and Mercy series! The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is a cozy romantasy, with some mystery added in. While I had high hopes, this one definitely felt slower paced a bit repetitive at times. The romance felt a bit too insta-lovey for my preferences. I absolutely loved that the pink dragons were included and was glad to see more of Duckers, who is always one of my favorites.
Thank you to Orbit for the advance copy!

This trilogy was so much fun. I would describe the Hart and Mercy series as cozy romantasy. Tanria is an adorable and heartwarming world with quirky characters. The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam was cute, fun, and light with little mystery. A little insta-love for my liking but still a good time. I will say that Duckers is still my favorite character - he’s so precious.
Thank you NetGalley & Orbit Books for the ARC. I listened and read along to this one and it was great!

What a wonderful addition to this lovely universe of characters! I loved Rosie from the previous books, and I loved getting to know her better through this one! Adam is a great addition to the mix, and they make a great couple. I also loved revisiting the past characters. We get to find out a lot more about Hart & Mercy, Mercy’s family as well as Pen Deckers among many others. It was a great look at where they are in the future! I also loved learning a lot more about Tanria and how it came to be. Overall if you enjoyed the other books in this series, this is a must read!

I loved escaping to Tanria one last time in Megan Bannen’s final adventure in this delightfully unique series. It’s fantasy, but in a fun and whimsical way, blending mythology, humor, and heart into a story that had me laughing out loud more than once.
Bannen weaves in themes of loss and longing with just the right touch of emotional depth, plus the unexpected dragon cameos were a highlight for me. I love how their portrayal and personality weave in with the story.
This isn’t your usual romantasy, and that’s exactly why I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something light, clever, and refreshingly different.
Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit books for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely devoured this book. I didn’t mean to read it in one sitting, but here we are. Rosie and Adam hooked me from page one. the grumpy/genius inventor and the immortal chaos goddess vibe?? I was so in. This whole world of Tanria has had my heart from the beginning, and this third installment somehow made me love it even more. It’s romantic, weird, warm, a little sad, and so full of heart. I already miss these characters and this world. I didn’t want it to end.

Thank you Netgalley and Orbit for an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is cozy fantasy, rom-com is the third book in the Tanria series by Megan Bannen. I read this via immersion read with both audio and e-arc from Netgalley and Orbit. Rosie was an interesting character and her story along with Adam's took on directions that were unique and that I didn't see coming. The book was slow-medium pace with lower stakes. The banter was funny and the nimkilins (animal postal workers) returned again for stellar performances and comedy. I enjoyed seeing the world expand and grow along with the characters.
The audio narration on this was great. The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life. The audio cadence was smooth and the voice tone was pleasing to the ear. The audio paired well with the e-arc and an immersion read and coudl be sped up or slowed down without distorting or making the story jarring.
I would recommend this book and the Tanria series to anyone who wants to read a low stakes, third person, cozy fantasy with lovable, and witty characters. I would also recommend for people who like books by Abby Jimenez, as I found the aspects of some of the writing and the humor very similar.

The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is a quirky, heartfelt conclusion to Megan Bannen’s Hart and Mercy series. Centered on Rosie Fox, a snarky, immortal demigod who’s patrolled the magical land of Tanria for decades, the story dives into what happens when she’s trapped in the Mist with the grumpy inventor of the portals, Dr. Adam Lee. As they navigate their way out of a thorny (literally) mess, their romantic tension and tangled histories come to light, offering both humor and emotional depth. Rosie’s voice—irreverent, loud, and laced with vulnerability—anchors the narrative, while Adam’s stoicism and surprising backstory add balance and intrigue.
Though the pacing is on the slower side and the humor occasionally overdone, the book shines in its final quarter, when the adventure ramps up and the fantasy setting regains its spark. Fans of the series will enjoy revisiting beloved side characters (including pink dragons!) and catching up on subplots like Duckers and Zeddie, even if some moments happen off-page. The romance walks a strange line between insta-love and slow-burn, but the emotional payoff and the epilogue help tie everything together. Despite its flaws, this finale delivers a satisfying and warm-hearted goodbye to a world full of weird magic, lovable misfits, and unexpected tenderness.

This one was okay, it was a bit slower than the first two and I didn't find myself excited or eager to pick it up any time soon. I am glad I read it, but it did take longer than I was expecting it to.

I did make the mistake of reading it first, even though it is third in the series, but I will definitely be reading the first two after this. I liked both of the main characters and the world was so whimsical. Overall a super cute, fun, and quick read. I really enjoyed it!

3.5 rounded up
This wasn't my favorite Hart&Mercy book, and it really bums me out. I even had an ARC and it took me forever to get through. It took a really long time for the book to convince me that Rosie and Adam actually have chemistry (I'm still not convinced). The plot was the most interesting part, and even that lost me pretty often. Best part was absolutely Zeddie and Duckers, I love them so much.
I also had an audio ARC. The narration was a 4/5, and helped me get through the book.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC, and Hatchette Audio for the audiobook.

This series has my whole heart. The setting and story line for the whole series is so unique and wonderful.
I was thrilled to get an Advanced copy of the final story in this series. It took me longer to read than I thought it would because I wasn't ready to leave Tanria.
Rosie Fox is a Tanrian marshal that was a side character in the previous two stories and now we finally get her POV. We jump ahead ten years, the drudges have been cleared, the dragons are thriving but now something weird is happening with the portals and only Rosie can see some shadowy shapes. In comes Dr. Adam Lee, who invented the portals to try and figure out what's going on. The shadows continue to get out of control and Tanria has to be evacuated but some people are trapped inside.
I loved getting to see Rosie and Adam fall in love.

Tropes:
-fantasy romance
-charming and unique story
-banter
-FMC is taller
-age gap
-cozy, cozy, cozy
-angst
-dragons
-found family
-forced proximity
I'm so sad that this series has come to an end. I have loved every adventure I've had the chance to take in Tanria. This has been such a cozy and unique storyline. Each book has felt like a warm hug. They can be read as standalone stories, and each one features new characters. There are fun glimpses into past characters.
Rosie and Adam couldn’t be more different while having so much in common. Through instant attraction and forced proximity in the mist, their relationship slowly develops. They were the perfect couple for the conclusion of this series.
Duckers and Zeddie are running characters throughout all three. Duckers is the best side character. His and Rosie’s relationship is the best. Their banter is fantastic. I was thrilled with the ending of Duckers and Zeddie, but I was disappointed that they didn’t get their own book. I have loved them since the first book.
I highly recommend this whole series. It has been such a massive part of my reading journey over the last few years. I go back to it all the time. It is truly a unique experience. I hope you will read them and love them as well.

3.5 - I’m honestly a bit sad to leave the world of Tanria & Eternity behind since this is the third book in the trilogy.
•tall FMC x short MMC
•massive age gap
•single third person POV (except one chapter)
•more dragons & donuts
The first book is far and away the best! This was still a fun time, but for a book about Rosie & Adam, there sure was A LOT of time spent on Z & Duckers and I kinda wish the whole thing was about them instead.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I think this was a great addition to the series. The first two books in the series are: The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy & The Undermining of Twyla and Frank. I’d recommend reading the other two books before starting this one. It is a continuation, and the characters in the prior two books are part of this story. The way the previous characters are revisited in this one was one of my favorite aspects. I liked seeing what everyone in the town was up to, specifically Duckers and Zeddy. Rosie and Adam both had interesting backstories that became increasingly intertwined as the story progressed. I also enjoyed the talks of immortality and seeing the lengths someone would go to for love.
Thank you to author Megan Bannen, publisher Orbit Books, and NetGalley for an eARC of The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam in exchange for my review.

Thank you Orbit Books for the opportunity to read an early copy of THE UNDERCUTTING OF ROSIE AND ADAM by Megan Bannen in exchange for my honest review!
One thing I appreciate about Megan Bannen's storytelling is that it's refreshing and slightly unconventional. Think of any trendy trope in the romance genre and Bannen will invert it or flip it on its head. Let me tell you... I AM HERE FOR IT EVERY TIME. Rosie and Adam, while wildly different, complemented each other in the best ways and I rooted for them from the jump.
Rosie as our FMC is one of my new favorites. She kind, funny, thoughtful, hardcore, and loves luxury. I wish Rosie was real because I would love to hang out with her.
I wish we had Adam's POV in this book. There were so many moments where I was dying to know what was going on through his head so I could feel more connected to him and the development of his feelings for Rosie.
Duckers continues to be one of the best side characters ever. Megan, can we not say goodbye to Tanria just yet and get one more story from Duckers POV, please?
I adore this delightfully weird world of Tanria that Bannen has created, and it's bittersweet for it to come to a close, but I am so glad this fictional world and these fictional characters exist on our shelves.
4.25/5 stars

Another enjoyable book in this fun series! Megan Bannen has a knack for creating a quirky and vibrant world filled with exciting and foul mouthed characters. The story of Rosie and Adam was super weird in the best of ways. I loved how Adam's character was slowly revealed and how strong and open Rosie was. Their relationship was slow burn wonderfulness. I especially loved the presence of the gods in this book, it added a new layer and was really intriguing. Ducker is a delight and the bond he and Rosie share was so sweet and hilarious. I definitely recommend this one!

waiiit... this was so much fun!
this is my first time reading a fantasy book with a comedic humor in it. and to be honest, i was laughing the whole time (especially penrose and rosie). aside from that, i was awe at the setting (not to mention the dragons were so cute)
but i'm struggling with the time jumps. but since this the first book i've read from this author, i've want to continue reading the first two books to better understand. also, there's a lot of gen-z slang that i cannot handle. but i understand that since it's their humor even though they're in a fantasy setting
for the audiobook, the narration was great. i love how the female narrator saying these lines in an sassy way. but i'm sad for the male narrator because he got one part. but nonetheless, it was well-narrated

Gosh, I love this series! And frankly, I am kind of depressed that it is over. It ended very well, so I am certainly satisfied, just so sad to not have another book set in this world to look forward to!
Now, can I get my one and only complaint out of the way? As much as I love Rosie., this story might have sucked me in a bit more and been a full-blown fave if it had been Duckers and Zeddie's story. Adam was fine, but I think I could have lived without him, and didn't feel as compelled by his and Rosie's romance than I did the prior titular couples, nor Duckers and Zeddie. That said, every other aspect of the book was flawless for me. I adored the characters (Rosie cracked me up every page, I swear), and I loved being set back into the world with all of our beloved past characters making appearances big and small. Our mail carrier this time was the hilarious dik-dik, Gobbo, and I really enjoyed all the character interactions and relationships. There's a lot of introspection in this one too, conversations about life and death, mortality, dealing with difficult parents, working through grief and loss, and the list goes on. Then on the flip side, to balance out the Big Emotions™ are the hilarious and witty parts that make it so palatable.
Bottom Line: I am sad we're leaving this world, but grateful for the friends we made along the way.

It was a delight to go back to the world of Tanria again. This book felt different from the earlier books in the series. I think once I realized that I should view it more as a fairy tale I was able to get more into it.
I hope the author changes their mind and decided this actually isn’t the last book of the series.
