This was well surprising cute. I have never played D&D. Maybe I should start. This was a cute take on the D&D game with a side of romance lol.

I didn't really care for the sections that dove into the D&D storyline but enjoyed the development of the MCs coming together.

I thought this was an amazing and adorable read. This is for the nerdy girls who love DnD and need more nerdy romances to read. Would definitely recommend to check this out

A charming blend of D&D fantasy and real-world romance. Sadie’s journey of self-discovery and unexpected love unfolds with warmth and whimsy, though some plot points could have used more depth.

Maybe it’s me but I really thought I’d love a D&D romance. Probably because I loved that my friends love the game lol I just didn’t connect with it. The characters were cute and I enjoyed the story idea, it just wasn’t for me.

I've picked up a few D&D romance novels in the past and absolutely loved them, so I was super excited to pick this one up. While I wanted to love Roll for Romance, I just couldn't connect to the characters as much as I wanted to. It leans so heavily into the D&D aspect that it overshadows the romance and the actual characters. I expected a few references and maybe a bit of their game sessions, but it felt like the fantasy world took over the actual story. Their fictional characters kissed before they did! However, I did love the discussion of career burnout; it was super relatable and tugged at my heartstrings.
I would absolutely love to see Lenora explore a fantasy series because she certainly has a knack for it. I can definitely see why many others would enjoy this novel, but for me, exploring your romance in front of other D&D players isn't for me. Generally speaking, it’s a sweet, lighthearted romance, but I wanted more romance elements and more chemistry between Noah and Sadie.

Man, this book was so much fun. Sadie was only a little bit of a hot mess instead of being a full on crash out for a FMC and I can appreciate that. Noah was such a cinnamon roll that I wanted him protected through out the whole book. I also LOOOOOOOOOVED that it went back and forth from book reality to full emersed in their D&D campaign. Also, also, LOVED the twists in the campaign.
If you're looking for a book that is just cozy, happy, doesn't make you want to scream at the main characters for lack of communication, and doesn't have that awful 3rd act break up... This is the book for you. It was genuinely nice to read a book that didn't leave me frustrated 10 chapters in.
As far as spice, eh.... It's weird cause it was but wasn't spicy? Like there's only maybe a couple spicy scenes that are over as quick as they started but also, they are kinda biology lessons but also, it's not THAT spicy? I dunno, the spicy scenes were the only odd part of the book to me. so like 2/5 for spicy.
Anyway, amazing read. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something sweet and nerdy. Especially if you just need a book to make you feel happy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
i saw this book on netgalley and thought it seemed like a fun concept, and it was genuinely even more fun that i expected!
obviously it’s a romance centering around dnd, but one of the most fun parts is that the dnd campaign is told as its own story within the book, which means this book is essentially two parallel storylines, one that’s contemporary romance and one that’s fantasy, and i loved that!
i am (unfortunately) not a dnd girly but this made me want to get involved in a campaign more than ever. i loved that everyone was new to it and that they all bonded over it and formed unlikely friendships, and i loved even more that they went to a renfaire because i AM a renfaire girly lol.
the romance was really sweet and fun, although i do feel like it was slightly underdeveloped, which is why i knocked off half a star. but the character development for the main character was great, and as someone who recently pivoted out of the job i had had for 7 years, i really related to the crisis and the fear of staying and being miserable, but also the paralyzing fear of trying something new.
spice is not usually what im really going for, but the spicy scenes in this were done really well and i genuinely really enjoyed them. i often get the ick during spicy scenes, but these were 🔥
this book was honestly so fun, and definitely for my fellow nerds 🤓
thanks to netgalley and random house publishing group for sending me this ebook in exchange for my honest review! 📖

Roll for Romance follows Sadie, who has just quit her job in NYC and moved in with her best friend, Liam, in a small Texas town. To get her out of her funk, Liam persuades her to join his game of Dungeons & Dragons. Among the other newbie players is Noah, who works at a local brewery. I really liked that the story is told from Sadie's perspective, and also from the perspective of her D&D character, Jaylie. It makes the time spent during gameplay read as its' own fantasy story, which was just as immersive and well-done as the main plot. Through the game and getting out into the town more, Sadie wrestles with what she really wants from life (and love, of course). This was a little bit small-town romance, and a little bit romantasy, and I loved all of it. There also seemed to be a good opening for this to be a series? Would definitely read it, if so!
Thank you to NetGalley and Lenora Woods for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

This book wasn’t bad, it just didn’t live up to my expectations I guess. I enjoyed the D&D aspect, but it was a little too much of a story within a story - you keep getting thrust back & forth between the real life story & the game without any preempt, you just have to pay attention to the characters names to know which story you’re in at that moment.

I love how this book is written! I’m still relatively new to DnD but I’m obsessed. I love that this story is told both in the present life of the players as well as the story of the campaign that they are playing! It’s so unique and I would love to read more stories like this!

This is definitely for someone, just not for me.
I couldn't get into the storyline, especially with the switching between our characters and the jumps into their D&D story

Dungeons and dragons but also regular life! This was a fun adventure and especially great for a newbie to D&D (me!) to learn the intricacies of the game.
I love the carefree attitude of the side characters. Liam and Sadie's friendship is amazing and I want a friendship like that! I loved how comfortable she became as she got to know Noah. And I felt for her when she tried to meet new people.
I did start to get confused by the D&D character names and the real life names, but everything worked out for me.
I would highly recommend!

Roll for Romance by Lenora Woods was such a cute, geeky romance that blended finding yourself with the magic of playing Dungeons & Dragons.
I absolutely loved Sadie and Noah’s relationship. Both of them were still figuring out their places in the world, and I adored how their journeys aligned when they found each other. Their chemistry was genuine and so well written.
What really stood out to me was how the book wove the D&D campaign directly into the story. It didn’t just mention the game—it let you join in on the adventure, which gave the book an extra layer of fun and depth.
This one is definitely for anyone who loves romance, geek culture, or just a fun story with heart.

I'm sorry but I tried to make this Book work! But I just couldn't get into it, This is more for the Gamer/Romance chick and that is just ain't me. I mean Sadie losing it all and then finding it all in a Video Game with a Friend and Fellow Gamer was in some way cute. But having too much of the Gaming storyline in the book was just not for me.

I don't think i was the best audience for this book. I haven't ever read a gamer-type romance before or played D&D, but the cover was super cute and it looked fun! I think I could've gotten more into it if i connected more with Noah and Sadie; and their chemistry. This was fine for me, i felt like it was a feel good romance book but wasn't anything that struck a cord or got me swoony.

Sadie’s world has just turned upside down—her job imploded, and she’s left trying to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile, Noah is embarking on a new journey, living life on the road. When they meet, the chemistry is instant. In the tabletop game they play together, Sadie becomes Jaylie, and Noah’s character, Loren, joins her on a quest that mirrors their growing connection in real life.
As their in-game bond deepens, so does their real-world relationship. Sadie finds herself drawn to Noah’s free-spirited lifestyle, something completely foreign to her structured world. She wants to let go and embrace the moment, but the looming end of summer—and her return to New York—hangs over them. Is this just a fleeting romance, or could it be something more?
I absolutely loved this story. The integration of Dungeons & Dragons elements added a rich layer of storytelling that made the narrative even more immersive. The campaign scenes were a joy to read and beautifully mirrored the emotional journey of the characters.
Sadie is a deeply relatable character—uncertain, introspective, and searching for her place in the world. Noah seems like her opposite at first, but as his backstory unfolds, you see the depth behind his carefree exterior.
Their relationship develops naturally, without feeling rushed or forced, and that slow burn makes the payoff all the more satisfying. This is a sweet, heartfelt story that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy by the final page.

This is written in sort of two perspectives: one the real contemporary world; the other the fantasy world of the D&D game. I've only played D&D once and I was very swiftly killed off, but I loved those chapters and would love to see the author lean into fantasy in future books. The romance itself was cute— two lifelong friends finding their way to each other through the game of D&D.

If you’re looking for a cozy, slow burn, friends to lovers romance with a touch of cozy fantasy, this will be the perfect read.
This book had one of the more unique stories I’ve ever read. It reads like it’s part contemporary, part cozy fantasy romance, as all of the D&D story they are playing unfolds for the reader in first person POV of the character she is portraying.
Sadie and Noah’s relationship builds both outside of and inside of the D&D game they’re playing, which was a cool concept, but I ended up feeling like I wanted more out of them getting to know each other. I also felt like the relationship felt very one sided for a while, as in Sadie was lusting over Noah for much longer before he (seemingly) returned the feelings. But he was also made out to be such a golden retriever type that it was hard to tell if he was just being nice or genuinely interested?
I also felt like Sadie lacked personality. Everyone around her seemed to have a decently well thought out personality, but she was just an ex-corporate girlie trying to figure out what to do next. Their wasn’t much depth to her or her motivations as a character, so it felt a little shallow.

The chemistry in this book was fantastic! The narrators did an amazing job brining the characters to life!
I’ve never been a part of a D&D campaign but this book made me feel like I could easily learn about D&D and join a campaign.
