I love the molly the maid series and this did not disappoint! it was so nice to be able to read gran’s letters and learn more about her not just from molly’s memories

There’s never a dull moment with Molly the maid, and I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. There’s something special about finding letters tucked within the pages of a book, and I especially loved hearing more from Gran—she truly had a gift for words and always knew how to guide Molly through life’s complexities with wisdom and grace.

This story felt unique, and I was completely drawn into the history of the Fabergé Egg, especially seeing it unfold through Gran’s perspective. Gran really lived a full life—and in return, she gave the world the lovely Molly.

Molly has a beautiful way of seeing the good in everything and everyone… until someone tries to take advantage of her. Then, all bets are off!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I needed another Molly the Maid book. And this one did not disappoint. If you liked the first two than this one is for you. All the usual characters are back and of course there is a mystery to solve. It was cozy, endearing and enjoyable! And a Canadian author to support!

Given that I loved Molly from the very first book in the series, The Maid, I knew I had to pick up this installment too. While this one had noticeably less of Molly and more focus on her Gran's story, I found myself really enjoying the shift—it gave the book a historical fiction vibe mixed with a modern-day mystery, and since I love historical fiction, this worked perfectly for me.

Molly’s life is on an upswing—she’s Head Maid and newly promoted Special Events Manager at the Regency Grand Hotel, and her wedding to her fiancé, Juan Manuel, is just around the corner. But things take a turn when a flashy reality TV show, Hidden Treasures, comes to film at the hotel. On a whim, Molly brings a shoebox of her Gran’s belongings to the set… and just like that, one item turns out to be a priceless artifact. Overnight, Molly becomes a media darling and a millionaire—until the treasure vanishes in a bold heist that throws everything into chaos.

Cue the mystery. And while it wasn’t the strongest mystery of the series (don’t go in expecting an Agatha Christie-style whodunnit), I was absolutely fine with that because this book is so character-driven. The heart of the story lies in a long-lost diary that Gran left behind for Molly, one that peels back a lifetime of secrets, heartbreak, and a love story that honestly had me hooked. The romance in Gran’s story? Beautifully written. It felt like a fairytale turned bittersweet history, and the emotional payoff was worth every page.

Molly is still very much present! Her quirky, heartfelt dialogue continues to make me laugh and root for her every step of the way. The side characters return with their own arcs, and I always enjoy reconnecting with this cast.

One thing to note: if you’re expecting a Molly-heavy story or prefer fast-paced mysteries, you might be thrown off by the timeline jumps and the focus on Gran’s past. But if you’re here for rich characters, heartfelt storytelling, and a deeper dive into Molly’s roots, you’ll love this book. I know I did.

Also, if you're into audiobooks, the narration was excellent and added so much charm to the experience.

The Maid's Secret is the 3rd full length novel and conclusion to the Molly the Maid series. In this book we get Molly's Gran's story, as told in her diary. We find out how she met John, and what happened to her and her family. It turns out that the egg Molly was given by the gardener who worked for a former employer, is extremely valuable. It goes up for auction, and then is stolen. Molly goes from struggling maid to rich woman to struggling to rich and then comfortable. With a camera crew following her around, social media, and even fellow employees getting in on the act, her life is upended. We finally get closure to everything in Molly's life, including her life ahead with Juan Manuel.

I really enjoyed this book. Molly is such a great character. She has her idiosyncrasies, need for organization and following the rules and routines, which make her so endearing. Juan Manuel is such a great partner to her, and Mr. Preston, her grandfather, give her the stability and love that she needs and craves. I liked the mystery of who stole the egg, but the return threw me off. I liked learning about Gran's past and how things came full circle. The dual timeline meshed nicely and I liked how they came together. With all the quirky characters that I have grown to know and love, this was a great conclusion to the series.

If you loved The Maid, you’re going to enjoy The Maid’s Secret just as much! Maybe even more... Molly Gray is back, and she’s still one of the most unique and lovable characters you’ll find in a mystery. She’s serious about her job, loyal to a fault, and notices things other people miss. This time around, she’s not just solving a mystery; she’s also preparing for her wedding to Juan Manuel. But, as always in Molly’s world, nothing is ever simple.

Molly is now Head Maid and Special Events Manager at the Regency Grand Hotel, and life seems to be going well. But that changes when she finds an old object that once belonged to her Gran, and it turns out to be worth millions. She gets invited onto a TV show to have it appraised, and just like that, everything changes. Right in front of everyone, the artifact disappears. Suddenly, Molly is at the center of an art heist, and the only way to solve the mystery is by digging into her Gran’s old diary.

As Molly starts reading through it, she uncovers long-hidden secrets about her grandmother’s past, including a love story that connects to what’s happening in the present. While the missing treasure and investigation keep the mystery moving, it’s really the emotional discoveries that make this book stand out.

Molly continues to be the heart of the story. She’s quirky, thoughtful, and completely herself, and it’s so refreshing to read a character who doesn’t change who she is to fit in. In this book, we see how she’s grown since the first one. She’s more confident and starting to trust the people around her more. You still get all her funny, awkward, and sweet moments, but there’s also a deeper emotional layer, especially as she processes what she learns about her Gran.

What really stands out in The Maid’s Secret is Gran’s backstory. Through her diary entries, we get a peek into a past filled with love, tough choices, and sacrifices. The way the story switches between Molly’s present and Gran’s past adds depth without ever getting confusing. Both timelines are equally interesting, and they come together in a really satisfying way.

The pacing is just right: not too slow, not too rushed. It keeps you turning the pages while also giving space for emotional moments to land. There are definitely some twists, like the big reveal during the heist and a few secrets from Gran’s life, but nothing feels over-the-top or too dramatic. It’s clever and well thought out, and by the end, everything ties together nicely.

Even though the plot centers around a high-stakes theft, the tone of the book is still warm and comforting. It’s not dark or violent, so it’s perfect for readers who enjoy mysteries that are a little more heartfelt and character-driven.

The Maid’s Secret is a mystery with a lot of heart. It’s fun, it’s emotional, and it gives us even more reasons to love Molly Gray. She’s not your average detective, she’s just a regular person trying to do what’s right, and that’s what makes her so easy to root for. The added layers of family history and self-discovery make this book more than just a whodunit.

Whether you’re coming back for more of Molly’s adventures or reading about her for the first time, this book is easy to get into and hard to put down. It’s full of charm, emotion, and just the right amount of mystery. I really hope this isn’t the last we see of Molly, because I’d happily read as many of her stories as Nita Prose wants to tell.

Another cozy mystery in this series. Very similar to the prior books. I enjoyed the first in the series the most - her character and the humor. I haven't enjoyed the subsequent books as much. Though this one was interesting in learning more of her Gran's backstory. Overall it was ok.

I have read the Maid books previous to this one. I liked this book, and it was actually my favourite of the series.

The Maid’s Secret • Nita Prose
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️💫

This is the third (and I believe final) book in the Molly the Maid series by Nita Prose.

I always love being back at the Regency Grand Hotel, and this time was no different.
I loved the formatting of this book with the diary entries from Molly’s Gran that gave us more insight into Gran herself, throughout the book.

I think this book was a good way to wrap up the series. Im sad to be checking out of the Regency Grand Hotel but happy with the stay.

Things I liked:
▫️Learning more about Gran
▫️Molly and Juan’s wedding

Things I didn’t like:
▫️Some parts predictable

This was a very sweet conclusion to the series. The dual timeline gave insight into Gran's history and her motivation. It was nice to learn about the family history.

It took some time to get into Gran's story and I enjoyed following Molly's narrative more. The back and forth between timelines halted the progress but the ending stayed true to the Molly Maid Series.

Nita Prose has done it again. The Maid’s Secret is everything I wanted in a finale and more—cleverly plotted, emotionally layered, and full of the quiet brilliance that made me fall in love with Molly Gray in the first place.

Molly is back as the ever-meticulous head maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, but this time the mystery begins at home—when she discovers that a priceless Fabergé egg has been tucked away in her Gran’s belongings during a taping of Hidden Treasures at the hotel. Before she can make sense of how it got there—or what it means—it’s stolen, setting off a chain of events that pulls Molly into a world of secrets, lies, and long-buried truths.

One of the most powerful elements of this book is what we learn about Gran’s past. She’s always been such a steady, comforting presence in Molly’s life, but seeing the shades of complexity in her younger years adds an unexpected emotional depth. It reshapes the way we understand both Gran and Molly, and adds an intimate urgency to the mystery. Gran wasn’t just Molly’s guide—she was a woman with her own secrets, sacrifices, and strength.

Prose’s writing is so accessible, and she nails the balance between cozy mystery and emotional depth. I laughed, I teared up, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. If you loved the first three books in the series The Maid’s Secret is a must-read. Molly Gray continues to be one of the most memorable and endearing protagonists in modern fiction.

This book continues the Molly the Maid series but can be read as a standalone. Molly is planning her wedding to Juan Manuel and enjoying her job as Head Maid and Special Events Manager at the hotel. As an important item of Molly’s is discovered to be worth millions of dollars her life as she knows it completely changes. Molly’s mother makes an unexpected appearance as the media attention around her sudden impending wealth explodes. The best part of the story for me is when Molly reads her beloved Gran’s diary and we find out her backstory. Gran’s life as written in her diary was so interesting and engaging and because of the diary we now know how Molly’s life was shaped. I enjoyed this book and I was completely engrossed in learning more about Gran. There is of course a big mystery to solve in this book as well. I liked the back and forth of the book between Gran’s life and Molly’s present day. Another entertaining read from this author and a great conclusion to the series.

I enjoyed this so much!

I love reading about Molly's adventures and do hope we'll see more of them. These stories are such a great blend of character growth/development and actual story.

I think I may have even enjoyed this one more than Yhe Maid- can't wait to see what dilemma Molly's is in next.

The Maid's Secret was an absolutely charming finale to the series. With Molly's life finally on track, about to be married to the love of her life and loving her job as Head Maid and Special Events Manager, of course something is about to go wrong... With the taping of a hit show about appraising antiquities coming to the hotel, Molly has her job cut out for her. She definitely didn't expect to be the star of the show! When one of her Gran's old curios is revealed to be a multi-million dollar antiquity, Molly aims to sell, but the egg is stolen right out from under her. To learn the truth about the egg and the theft and for Molly to finally figure out who her friends and who her enemies are, she must dive into the past. The story is told in alternate points of view, Molly's present-time turmoil and Gran's diary pages come to life about her as a young girl. Will the theft be solved, and will Molly get her happy ending after all?

I really loved getting a new perspective in this story. Hearing about Molly's Gran, Flora's life as a young girl gave us a fresh voice and really helped tie the whole story together. With how exciting Molly's present timeline plot sounds, honestly not that much happened, so the past-timeline learning about Flora and how she came to have the egg really amped the story up and made for an intriguing mystery. I really enjoyed the past timeline with the introduction of new characters and the development of Flora and Preston's relationship.

Molly's character development throughout this series was phenomenal. Her quirks stayed the same, but her maturity and outlook on life changed considerably, as did her circumstances. I loved seeing a finale to her story and really appreciated the neurodiversity written into this book.

Although this really isn't my preferred genre, the first book pulled me in and didn't spit me out until this last one; I felt like I had to finish and hear Molly's full story play out. I'm glad the series has ended here, Molly's story is definitely at an end, and a good end at that!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read The Maid’s Secret. I’ve been a fan of the Molly the Maid series from the beginning, and this third installment was an absolute delight. Nita Prose continues to craft such a compelling and emotionally rich world, and Molly remains a truly unique and lovable character. Her voice is so distinct—meticulous, sincere, and quietly funny—and I found myself fully immersed in both the mystery and her personal journey.

I especially loved how the story wove together present-day events with Flora’s past through her diary entries. That added layer of family history gave the plot real heart and depth. The dual timeline was handled beautifully and gave a strong emotional core to the mystery.

As a reader, I really appreciated the balance of charm, warmth, and suspense. The pacing was excellent, the twists felt earned, and the resolution was satisfying. Molly’s continued growth—especially as she navigates wealth, change, and lingering questions about her grandmother—felt natural and compelling.

Thank you again for the chance to read this early. I’ll absolutely be recommending The Maid’s Secret and eagerly await what’s next for Molly!

Thank you Netgalley, Penguin Random House Canada (Adult) | Viking, and Nita Prose for free e-ARC in return of my honest review of The Maid’s Secret.

The final installment in Molly Gray’s story is here, and it’s bittersweet. Saying goodbye to the charming and ever-curious Molly is no easy task, but The Maid’s Secret feels like the right farewell. This novel pulls back the curtain on Molly’s past, revealing the life and sacrifices of her beloved Gran—whose quiet strength and influence have shaped Molly into the person we’ve come to know and love.

The story is told from two perspectives: Molly’s, and her Gran’s through the pages of a diary. It’s a wonderful twist that finally gives Gran her own voice, allowing readers to see her not just through others’ eyes, but as a fully formed woman in her own right. We follow her journey from a pampered child to a grounded, resilient adult—one who raised her granddaughter with care, intention, and a deep sense of goodness.

I particularly loved the storyline involving the Egg. I’ll admit I’m a bit biased—having grown up in Russia, Fabergé eggs were always a part of our cultural heritage, admired for their beauty and craftsmanship. That thread felt personal and nostalgic to me.

Some elements didn’t land as strongly. The auction subplot and a few new characters didn’t feel as well-developed as I’ve come to expect from Nita Prose’s work. It might be a personal bias, but I struggled to connect with them on a deeper level.

Still, Nita Prose’s writing is like a warm blanket—comforting, thoughtful, and quietly powerful. I’ve loved her gentle prose, her careful plot construction, and the emotional richness of her characters. While I’m sad to leave Molly behind, I’m excited to see where Prose’s storytelling will take us next.

A perfect end to the Molly the Maid series, this is an emotionally resonant story that combines mystery, engaging characters, and humour to close Molly's story before Prose moves on to new things. Molly is always a charming character and this book is no different. I also enjoyed that the key mystery was not a murder, but a theft, which was a pleasant departure from so many of the mystery novels I've read recently.

What a perfect end for Molly the Maid. Wrapping up on this series feels a little bittersweet. I will miss Molly's quirkiness and her stories of her and her Gran. Good things are just around the corner for Molly - as the esteemed Head Maid and recently promoted Special Events Manager of the Regency Grand, Molly is preparing to marry her beloved Juan Manuel. When the reality TV show Hidden Treasures is set to shoot at the hotel, Molly brings in a shoebox of old items to be appraised.

What Molly doesn't know is that one of those items will change her life forever. Within minutes, Molly becomes a multi-millionaire and a media sensation. That is, until her Fabergé egg is stolen right in front of her eyes and the real mystery begins. Told in multiple timelines with the help of Gran's diary, we learn more and more of Gran's past, the man she once loved, and how she ended up with the egg in the first place. I found it interesting to see how some of Gran's choices and interactions end up affecting Molly in the end.

The story is written full of wit and humour. I think what captivated my attention was the fact that we get a deeper glimpse into Gran's past, Gran was a different person than we've known her character to be. Overall in the novels, you get to watch Molly grow as a person, but I found her to truly shine in this installment. And for what it's worth, with all the drama, I'm glad that we do get a happily ever after for her and Juan Manuel.

Molly the maid is back in the latest installment of Nita Prose's series. And she's as sweet as ever under ever-dramatic circumstances.
The Hidden Treasures antiques show is visiting the Regency Grand Hotel (think Antiques Roadshow) and Molly brings in some of Gran's items for assessment.
Enter, "the Fabergé faint" - one of Molly's items ends up being an authentic original Fabergé egg and her reaction is captured by the cameras. She and fiancée Juan Manuel become instant, if reluctant, celebrities.
But then, the egg is stolen. Meanwhile, readers are treated to more of Gran's origin story among the current-day mystery of the missing Fabergé.
It's more of what we love about the first books in the series, with even more depth of character. And a few surprises in store!
Recommended!
Thank you to @penguinrandomca for my eARC for feature.
