I went into this with no previous experience with the series, so I wasn't sure what to expect—but I was intrigued by the dual timeline format. The past unfolds through letters from Molly’s grandmother, revealing her life of privilege, while the present follows Molly as she’s suddenly thrust into a world of wealth and all the complications that come with it.

While I appreciated the structure and found Molly to be a genuinely charming character, I struggled to stay invested. The story focuses heavily on the lives and problems of the ultra-wealthy, which felt distant and hard to relate to. I also had a tough time connecting with the newly introduced characters or caring about the drama surrounding a priceless object—it just didn’t land for me.

It didnt give me thriller vibes I was expecting.

I was given this book as an ARC thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Publishing. I loved coming back to the character of Molly and really enjoyed getting to know more about her grandma.
I found the start of this book a little hard to get into but once I got to the middle I couldn’t stop reading to figure out how it ended.
If you enjoyed the first two books of this series, I would recommend this one :)

Thank you Netgalley and Viking for the eARC of The Maid's Secret by Nira Prose in exchange of an honest review.
This is the 3 full installment in the Molly the Maid series (there's a Christmas novella as well).
This story has dual timeline, one from Molly's POV about what is happening in present time with alot of chaos and the second one is told is diary entry from Flora (Molly's grandmother).
The diary entry was so good, those were my favorites, I do love Molly as a character but learning all about the past from Flora was just a great addition.
To me the story was a bit predictable BUT I still enjoyed it very much. I stayed up late to finish it and was crying in bed at 1am hahaha
I will read everything that Molly the Maid is in, she's just the character I need in my life right now.
4.5 stars

Read if you like:
🔑 dual POV
🔑 dual timelines
🔑 slowwwwww burn
🔑 quirky characters

I love the character of Molly soooooo much I was so excited to read the newest instalment in The Maid series!! Thank you so much to Nita Prose and Penguin Random House for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review 💕
I love a dual timeline because the whole time I am just wondering how this is all going to come together in the end, and it’s so satisfying when all the pieces finally come together and make such an exciting story.
I loved learning more about Gran’s life because we don’t really know too much about her.
The only bad thing I can say here is that it was such a slowwwwww burn. Like it took half the book until anything “mystery” happened. I stuck with it because I really like this series, but I can definitely see people DNFing this for it.

This book is quintessential Maid. It feels so similar to the first two, which is so nice. Molly is the same as ever in it, and I did love that.

The story itself is not my favourite. I liked the tie in to the other books, but it felt slightly underdeveloped.

It was a cute story, but I wasn’t as enthralled as I was with the first two books.

An ARC was provided by Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love being in the world of Molly the maid!

I was really excited that another book was released, and I was able to get an early copy of it. This book in the series did a deep dive into the past, which was much appreciated. I enjoyed how the past and present came to fruition and how easily the storylines weaved together.

This book is definitely a cosy mystery filled with nostalgia. If you haven't read the other books in the series then luck you! Go get them immediately. Would highly recommend!

The Maid's Secret is an engaging, fast-paced mystery that blends intrigue, romance, and a bit of historical drama. The story follows Molly Gray, a head maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes part of a media frenzy surrounding a rare artifact that turns out to be worth millions. What starts as a feel-good rags-to-riches story quickly becomes a thrilling art heist, with Molly and her friends caught in the middle of a mystery that stretches back to her grandmother’s past.

The plot is compelling and filled with twists and turns that kept me hooked. The mystery behind the artifact’s disappearance and the connection to Molly's grandmother adds depth to the narrative, while the tension between Molly’s present and the secrets of her past creates a great sense of intrigue. The writing is smooth, and the pacing is just right—keeping you turning the pages without overwhelming you with unnecessary details.

Molly is a relatable and likable protagonist, and her journey of discovery about her grandmother's secrets makes for an emotional and satisfying arc. The blend of modern-day drama with glimpses into the past is well executed, and the connection between the two timelines adds layers to the story.

My only minor critique is that some of the secondary characters could have been more fleshed out, as a few of them felt a bit one-dimensional. But overall, The Maid's Secret is an enjoyable read with an engaging mystery, heartfelt moments, and a great sense of suspense. Perfect for fans of historical fiction with a touch of modern-day intrigue!

The Maid’s Secret by Nita Prose

If you like a cosy mystery this story is for you. The characters are unique and entertaining. The author gives us characters we love and characters we dislike.

Told in alternating point of views from both Molly and her late grandma, the plot is always moving forward leaving you wanting more. In one side of the story Molly is entangled in an art heist at the Regency Grand hotel. In the other side of the story we get to read a memoir of Molly’s grandma as a young adult. I really enjoyed the sections written by Flora(Molly’s grandma) and loved learning her history!

Around the halfway mark, the pace really picks up, and I started to have those “wait what?!”moments as the author starts to build towards the conclusion.

Will we get the outcome that we want? Will Molly and Juan get their fairytale ending? You’ll just had to read the book to find out!

I loved it. Though it is categorized as a cozy mystery, I found it a very heartwarming read.
Meet Molly Gray, an ordinary maid at Regency Grand Hotel whose life is about to change soon.
After her grandmother dies, Molly finds a box that her grandmother left for her. In it lay a faberege egg that turns Molly's life upside down. It's priceless. It's one of a kind in the whole world.
She is about to be very rich and very famous, when all she wanted was to have a calm wedding with her lovely fianceé, Juan, and spend her special day with her friends and family.
As Molly's life is pushed into the limelight, she realizes that money does not bring happiness. Everyone wants a piece of her, and she absolutely despises the idea of people envying her luck.
The meaning of her life suddenly shifts when she opens her grandmother's diary and goes through her gran's younger years.
I loved Flora Gray's story. It shows that love always finds its way, no matter what the circumstances.
Although this is the third book of the series, this is my first.
It's heartfelt and engaging and provides you with some great life lessons.

Thank you Net Galley for a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. The Maid's Secret is an engaging and heartfelt story that I thoroughly enjoyed. While I found some parts to be overly detailed without adding much to the plot, the book still kept my interest, especially Gran’s story, which was particularly compelling. It was nice to know more about her, how she became the woman she became to be, the love story with Mr. Preston. The ending was lovely and endearing, bringing all the characters together in a touching way to support Molly and her conversation with Gran touched my heart. Despite some pacing issues, the warmth and charm of the story made it a worthwhile read.

Molly the maid is back to solve another mystery in The Maid’s Secret, the third full length book in The Maid series by Nita Prose.

This was not my favourite entry in the series, however it was still entertaining and an enjoyable read.

The mystery this time around is a more personal one, when Molly brings a trinket to the recording of an Antiques Roadshow type program, only to find out it’s enormously valuable. She puts it up for auction, only for it to mysteriously disappear.

We spend a lot of time in this book getting more background on Molly’s gran and her family. Although I found it interesting, and it did provide insight into the present day mystery, I felt it dragged the book down a bit. I would much rather have spent more time with Molly, and the characters around her.

If you’re a fan of the series I think you won’t want to miss this. If you aren’t yet a fan, you could start with this book, but I recommend starting with book one to really get to know the characters

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the third full length novel in The Maid series - NOT to be confused with the Frieda McFadden series. This one is way cuter.

Told through alternating chapters, this book tells two stories. One voice is our beloved protagonist, Molly, as her world is turned upside down when a trinket is discovered to be worth millions. The other, her dead but ever present Gran, relaying the story of her tumultuous upbringing through a diary left for Molly.

This book is true to the rest of the series in that it is heartwarming, compelling, and thought provoking. Molly’s way of looking at the world is so pure yet realistic, and reminds us that no matter how someone’s brain works we are all worthy of love and respect.

It was such a treat to read an ARC of this, as I had just finished the previous instalment the day before this came available to me on NetGalley.
If you’re looking for a mystery that is a good read, but has none of the usual darker thriller aspects, this is for you.
I love that the characters have intricate back stories, and I love the way they are revealed as this series continues.
Long live Molly the maid!

This is the third (or fourth, if you count the holiday-themed novella) in Nita Prose's series about guileless hotel maid Molly. In this outing, she's engaged to marry Juan and they're both content with their jobs at the hotel where Molly is head maid and Juan is now a skilled pastry chef. Their wedding plans are interrupted by a flurry of interest when Molly brings a box of beloved objects to a reality TV show filmed at the hotel, an Antiques Roadshow-style appraisal of trash and treasure. An egg that was given to Molly after it was abandoned turns out to be priceless, and her life is changed forever.

Molly is portrayed as neurodivergent without a specific label for her idiosyncratic set of traits, which include rigorous honesty and obliviousness to some social cues. In this volume, we learn that the grandmother who raised her and who taught her housekeeping skills had a far more complex background than Molly ever suspected. A series of letters describe her grandmother's upbringing in a wealthy family and her attendance at a private school where she was the only female pupil. Her family's downfall is intertwined with Molly's own recent good fortune. But fame brings a number of unpleasant events and people into Molly's life, and she struggles for equilibrium.

The present-day plot moves more quickly than the revelations about Molly's grandmother, but the novel is a gentle pleasure, and Prose draws together all of the threads adeptly in the book's finale.

Did you read Nita Prose’s The Maid, The Mystery Guest, and The Mistletoe Mystery? Then you’ll love The Maid’s Secret. It lives up to the hype of the previous books and is a fitting end to the series.

If you haven’t read the previous books, what are you waiting for?!

This was ok - and although at first I was enjoying Grandma’s story, it just felt like it dragged on - also seemed very predictable. The fun in the first two books was having Molly solve the mystery… this book was just cheesy and really all the answers were in grandma’s diary …

When the Regency Grand is taken over by the reality television show Hidden Treasures, Molly finds herself bringing in items for appraisal. She discovers that she is in possession of an artifact worth millions, and instantly becomes a TV sensation. It is not long before the artifact vanishes into thin air and we welcome back our favourite detective to lead the case.

We dive into Molly’s late Gran’s world through her diary entries. We explore the love and losses along the way. With alternating chapters of past and present, the story kept us on our toes. How will Gran’s past connect with the case at hand?

I loved every second of this book. If you’re a fan of Molly, you will enjoy the third instalment. I have the biggest smile on my face after finishing this one. A cozy mystery that will keep you turning the page AND warm your heart. Prose actually brought a tear to my eye at the end of this one.

Nita Prose has sone it again! I love reading about Molly and her group of friends and family. It was so nice to learn more about Gran's past, too. Well done.

This is book three in the Maid series and we find all is well at the Regency Grand. Molly has been promoted but she remains indubitably Molly.
The characters; Mr Preston, Juan, Mr Snow, Detective Stark, Angela, the other maid's are well rounded and have continued to grow and flourish.
This novel's format deviated from the previous novels by the author's use of dividing the storyline between Molly and her gran in alternate chapters. I think Prose managed this technique with skill. The two storylines were easy to follow. I found that knowing more about gran's life clarifed some of the decisions she had made in the previous novels.
All in all, I enjoyed this book. It flowed well and kept me interested. Thank you to Penquin /Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

The Maid's Secret is the last instalment in the series about Molly the Maid and I wish it wasn't going to end.
I absolutely loved this book and cried happy tears at the ending which was Molly and Juan's wedding along with all her friends and family.
The mystery involves some trinkets that Molly brings to the taping of a TV show, "Hidden Treasures" which is being taped at the Regency Grand Hotel. Lo and behold, her life is thrown into shambles when she discovers that the Faberge egg that belonged to her beloved Gran is actually worth millions. The egg is stolen and Detective Stark and all the staff at the Regency Grand begin a hunt for this valuable piece of art.
Along the way, we read from Gran's diary her whole backstory and how this egg came to be in her possession.
While some people may feel it detracts from Molly's story, I felt that it enhanced it and made the whole meaning of Molly and her life more interesting.
While I am sad that I no longer will be able to read about Molly and her antics with her Regency Grand family, I was left feeling satisfied with the ending. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC and in return I am leaving my honest review.
