This book came along just at the right time. I greatly enjoy Molly Gray, as her character deeply resonates with me as well and her adventures are fun as she always finds herself caught up in some high-stakes crime. The writing blends a clever whodunnit with a romantic journey of love as Molly learns of her Gran`s past while trying to solve the crime with the help of her colleagues and friends. The dual timeline helps keep the reader engaged and enjoy this heartfelt story.

I am so sorry Molly the Maid but this one just didn’t do it for me. I honestly had little interest in anything that happened in this story. Finding out about Gran’s past was a little interesting but the pace of this one was too slow. 2.5 stars rounded to 3

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the DRC of The Maid’s Secret. All opinions in this review are my own.

My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for a free copy of this ARC and the opportunity to express my views.

The third installment in the delightful Molly (I’m just a maid’) series finds the intrepid main character at her beloved job at the Regency Grand Hotel, where she is now working as an events manager, but keeping her head maid role as well. She is grieving the passing of her beloved Gran, who was her only true family. But she has her recently found grandfather around for loving support, as well as her wonderful fiancé, the chef Juan Manuel. They share Gran’s modest apartment, Molly’s only home, and plan to marry soon.

Their peaceful lives turn upside down when the Regency Grand hosts an episode of a wildly popular ‘Antiques Roadshow’ type of TV show, hosted by a male couple who are meant to be superbly entertaining, if stereotypically over-the-top. Molly brings an item she inherited from Gran that she had always jokingly called ‘the Faberge egg’ for assessment. Unbelievably , it is exactly that, and worth millions. For all that they need the money, Molly and Juan Manuel would prefer to avoid the sudden non-stop public scrutiny their new fame and fortune brings. And then the egg disappears and the mystery (finally) unfolds.

There are elements of this story that I loved, notably the writing and character development, with all the old familiar characters on the scene, as well as a few intriguing new ones. It has some truly funny moments and some truly poignant ones as well. When it’s focussed on the title character, it zips along. But this volume, unlike the others, has a dual timeline in which Molly’s present alternates with Gran’s past in the form of letters that Gran had left for Molly, along with the ‘key to my heart’ that would open the box containing them after her death.
I usually love dual timelines but this one did not work for me.

The letters have Gran recount, in detail and somewhat repetitiously, an origin story that reveals the wealth, status and snobbery of her parents. Molly knew nothing about Gran’s background, which she managed to hide impressively. Briefly, we (and Molly) learn how Gran fell from grace and was left earning her way as a maid, and ultimately raising her abandoned granddaughter to follow her footsteps. This part seems to be a pretty typical ‘poor little rich girl’ story and just doesn’t fit the image of Gran that was built up over two volumes, in which none of it is ever alluded to. We do discover why the impoverished Gran had a genuine Faberge in her possession. Even the writing style strikes me as odd. Gran was writing as an elderly woman in contemporary times. The youthful years she describes are the 1950s-1960s. Yet she writes in a florid, overblown way better suited to the Victorian Romantics a century before. This books isn’t really about the maid’s secret, it’s about Gran’s secret.

When the focus returns to the question of who stole the Faberge, and why, Molly again returns to center stage and puts her sleuthing skills to effective use. As usual, the Grand Regency staff help immeasurably, bringing a rather disappointing Molly story to a good conclusion and what is a fitting ending to the Molly mystery series. She will be missed.

This was a bittersweet read for me. I have been a big fan of the maid so for this to be the final novel I was sad. I really enjoyed part 3 of the maid series. I loved learning more about Gram’s story and Grand- dad’s story. This was my favourite part of this novel. I always laugh the novel mixes Molly with the current day. This was a really good engaging read.

Mr Preston aka Grandad- retired Regency doorman, we discover more about his relationship with Gran through her diary
Mr Snow- Manager and friend
The Bees- Brown and Beagle (loved these two- their dynamic and energy was entertaining)

Overview
Once again we are back at the Regency Grand Hotel where during a filming of Hidden Treasures ( an Antiques roadshow) with the Bees’s, Molly discovers she owns a Faberge egg , while looking into its origins it is stolen and so the huevo mystery begins…

Thoughts
This book was part Mystery part origin story. Through Grans (Floras) diary and a Dual POV and timeline we learn about how the egg came to be in Mollys possession and who might be responsible for the heist, we also learn more about who Gran was. I think I preferred Mollys storyline more to Gran’s diary entry’s -which felt like a romance story- but these were essential to the overall plot.

Overall
This is a Quick cozy read filled with the fun puns, humour, and friendship readers have come to expect and love from the series.
A perfect ending to Molly’s tale but I did wonder if maybe Angela’s was beginning???

Thanks to the publisher, @netgalley and the author for my digital ARC in return for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own.

Molly the MAiD is a delightful and quirky character who is easy to get behind and cheer for. Nina Prose has done a lovely job of crafting 3 Molly tales that make for enjoyable reads. They are not overly challenging or gripping in anyway but rather cozy reads that you will be happy you engaged with. This third tale does not disappoint and grants its reader what we have come to expect - a warm hearted read with a satisfying conclusion. Curl up in a cozy space and get on board with Molly’s latest adventure. Thank you Nina Prose, Penguin Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars out of 5

The latest addition to the heartwarming "Maid" series by Nita Prose is here, and it's every bit as good as we have come to expect from the author.

Molly the Maid is back and is unknowingly in posession of a priceless artifact. When it goes missing, will they find out who is to blame? Will she and her long-time love Juan finally get to tie the knot? Told in a dual-narrative format set in both present day and in the past as we find out more about Molly's beloved gran, I loved both narratives equally and only hoped for the happy ending that we have come to anticipate when reading about Molly the Maid. I'm grateful for the time that we got to spend with the quirky Molly and all of her supporting characters and I look forward to reading whatever Nita Prose comes up with next.

I just finished reading the ARC of The maids secret and I feel like I’ve been given a warm hug!
That is my favourite thing about this wonderful world that you’ve created. The sense of community and the proverbial village always leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy.
I absolutely loved getting to know Gran better. Loved the layering of the stories and the deep development of characters.

For those who haven’t read the previous books, I would strongly recommend reading atleast the first one before you dive into this one.

Thankyou NetGalley and penguin Random House for this ARC for free in exchange for my honest opinion

This was a cute cozy mystery. I loved the characters and the character history we got in this book, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the storyline. The egg didn’t really make a lot of sense to me and I didn’t really care.

Absolutely LOVED this book, possibly more than #1. As always Molly was lovable and funny, but hearing from Gran melted my heart. The backstory was heartbreaking and inspiring. Full of the usual puns and idioms I couldn’t put this one down. Highly recommend!

Another great adventure with Molly the maid.  Molly is a quirky head maid at the Regency Grand Hotel.  An antique show comes to the hotel and Molly brings some trinkets to be appraised.  It turns out she has something of value.  From her a fabulous tale begins.

I love the way these characters are written and brought to life in this heart warming story.   We get a lot of insight into Molly's grandma through her diary which is a key element in this tale.   I wonder what will be next for Molly and friends.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of The Maid's Secret by Nita Prose, published by Penguin Random House Canada

I just loved, loved, loved this last book in the Molly the Maid series, I think I liked it the best, which I find unusual in series.
The author has done an incredible job keeping the reader entertained and engaged throughout this series. She has thought through and created plots with depth and incredible characters.  I loved reading Molly's grandmother's diary along side the current day events that Molly and Juan were experiencing, and how it all comes together at the end. I shed a tear!

Nita Prose has created this lovely character in Molly the Maid, who invokes such a huge spectrum of emotions, I've become so attached to her and reading about her life. I love her quirkiness, her simplicity, her joie de vivre, her honesty and care for others.
I was bawling during Gran's last diary entry, they have become real people to me in this series
I loved all the puns throughout this book, not sure how the author thinks them up, sheer genius! And some really great lessons in selflessness to be taken from this novel.
Thank Nita for writing and super excited to meet you in May at the author event in Almonte

Nita Prose [author:Nita Prose|20650250] has done it again with The Maid's Secret #3 [bookcover:The Maid's Secret|216351856], a smart continuation of an already beloved series. This book is a blend of intrigue, and heart. From the very first page, you're drawn into an intricate web of secrets, layered characters, and a plot that keeps you guessing.

Molly, the maid, continues to shine with her unique blend of naivety, determination, and remarkable insight. Her growth throughout the series is not only believable but profoundly moving, as she navigates challenges that test her resolve and ingenuity. The supporting cast adds depth and flavour, with each character richly drawn and contributing to the story in meaningful ways.

Prose's writing is, as always, a delight. She has an ability to craft vivid settings, sparkling dialogue, and tension-filled moments. This third and I believe final installment which manages to raise the stakes while still delivering the humour and warmth readers have come to love. The story manages to wrap up all the loose ends, while incorporating the past, which leaves you satisfied with the ending.

The Maid's Secret (Molly the Maid #3) cements Nita Prose's reputation as a masterful storyteller and leaves readers eagerly anticipating what comes next. A must-read for fans of the series!

Another cozy mystery with all of the same charming and quirky characters. Though somewhat different from the other books in the series, I really enjoyed this one. The dual timelines created suspense and drama and really helped tie everything together.
As we learn of Flora's past, her family secrets and the tragic circumstances she found herself in, we also bear witness to all that she sacrificed for love.
We see a lot of character development for Molly throughout the series but especially in this book. I love that it wrapped up the series by solving the mystery of the 'faberge'. This book had such a lovely, heartwarming ending.

This was a great addition to the Molly the maid series and I loved the back story from Gran's diary as well as the intrigue about the egg. Molly has established a circle of devoted friends, and even love, because of her honesty and sincere kind hearted way. The mystery is not a big secret but it plays out in an entertaining way. You don't have to read these books in order but it would be a richer experience if you did.

'This is the problem in love and war, Molly. All is fair, but the end result is the same -- everyone gets hurt.

Fans of the Molly the Maid will be happy to jump into this new adventure at the Regency Hotel. The Maid’s Secret by Nita Prose is the 3rd novel in the Molly the Maid series (4th if you consider the Christmas novella). In this latest book, Molly discovers that her Fabergé egg is worth millions but when the egg vanishes, Molly must once again piece together the mystery with her beloved fiancé Juan.

I am a big fan of Molly; as someone who cares for a person with autism, I find it refreshing to see a main character in a popular series who also displays neurodivergent traits. I am equally grateful that Molly is a model of a person being successful in the workplace, where her skills are recognized to their full value.

This book alternates between present day and flashbacks to Gran’s (Flora’s) youth, through diary entries that Gran left to Flora in the months before her passing. I loved this twist, enjoyed delving into Flora’s wealthy upbringing and seeing how her story intersects with Molly current-day situation.

Molly is an endearing and relatable character. This is a solid 4 star read to me. I recommend it and look forward to future installments.

Another Molly tale! The Maid’s Secret keeps up the cozy mystery charm of its predecessor, but if I’ve learned anything about myself, it’s that I like my mysteries with a little more bite—more tension, more darkness, maybe even a villain twirling a mustache in the background? (Okay, maybe not that, but you get the idea.)

That said, I did enjoy the dual narratives in this one. Gran’s diary entries? Easily my favorite part. There was something about stepping into her world that felt richer, more compelling, and—dare I say—more emotionally resonant than Molly’s present-day storyline. I found myself wishing I could stay in Gran’s perspective just a little longer.

I’m not sure if this is the final chapter in Molly’s story, but if it is, it feels like a natural place to wrap things up. Of course, if there are more books, I’ll probably read them because I can’t resist the pull of a well-done mystery (even a cozy one). But I think I’ll always be that person who secretly wishes for just a little more edge, a little less warmth.

Would love to hear from other readers—did this one hit the spot for you? Or are you also craving a mystery with a bit more oomph?

Maid Molly is back with another mystery to solve! In the latest edition of The Maid series we learn about Molly’s grandmothers background and present day about the egg that Molly inherited. I don’t want to get too much into the story to spoil it so I will leave it at that.

This was a fun read! I have always enjoyed the characters in this series and this book continued to build upon existing characters while introducing several new ones.

The dialog with Molly was charming as usual and I enjoyed the diary format in which Molly’s grandmother's history was told.

I did find the book lacking a tiny bit in the plot department. It was super easy to figure out “who done it” and the plot was a little light in content. But as a light and quick read this didn’t take away too much from my enjoyment

I would say to fully appreciate this book you do need to have read the other(s) in the series as I don’t think it would stand alone very well.

I give this a 4/5.

Thank you to Net Galley and Penguin Random House Canada (Adult) | Viking for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for a review.
