Thank you to the publisher, and that galley for an advanced readers copy of the book and exchange for an honest review. The book starts off running. You’re introduced to our female main character named Cordelia. Immediately her life is put in danger and she is kidnapped to a pack of werewolves When you find out that her father is a werewolf and her witch aunt has been keeping the identity of her father secret for years.
Her kidnapper, a handsome young werewolf by the name of Bishop who is our Mail main character, almost instantly becomes a love interest. This book initially was a very enjoyable read. Don’t get me wrong, I did fly through this book. Except at the end. It took me several days to finish the last 15% of this book. There were a lot of things that I was conflicted about. Our FMC is supposed to be from a lineage of strong witches, but I never really saw the extent of her powers. There were a lot of things that were contradictory. She was initially very independent and very against being in a relationship and even being married. At the end, I felt like all that went out the window. I also felt like the love was almost an Insta love situation. This first part of the book happens in the span of about a week, and we went from kidnapper and kidnapping to lovers almost. There is very minimal spice in this book.
So I’m a bit conflicted with writing this review. I did enjoy it until the very end. I felt like if this is going to be part of a longer series, the romance between our main characters could have been extended and flushed out a bit more. I may pick up the next book in the series, but I am not sure at this point.
I also felt like we could’ve gotten to know the other members of the pack a little bit more. I feel like at the end when there were a lot of losses, I felt like I didn’t really know the other characters well enough to actually have it be significantly impactful.

When I first picked up this book I was attracted to the fact it was directed to readers that enjoyed A Court of Thorns and Roses AND From Blood and Ash, which are two of my all time favorite series, and I was not disappointed! I am such a sucker for a good wolffish story; anything with paranormal or magical vibes to be perfectly honest.
After being ripped from all she knows, our FMC; Cordelia, a witch, gets taken from her terrible father by a random Alpha werewolf. Cordelia is basically “sold” to the Alpha by her father for “reasons,” which father of year award goes to… Not him. However, as this book goes on, to avoid spoilers her, Cordelia learns shocking secrets about herself and her family, as well as her feelings for her furry foe who seems to care for her.
Let me tell you, just when I thought I knew where this book was going… I did not, Kaylee Archer did a great job at surprising me with twists, and angsty moments that made her a name I will not forget in my book buying adventures. This novel is easy to get sucked into and transported into a world of magic and growling MMCs and blood secrets.

Witch of the Wolves is a dark fantasy romance set in a Victorian-style world, full of witches, werewolves, and forbidden love.
The story follows Cordelia, a witch hiding her powers in London. Her life changes when she’s kidnapped by Bishop, a serious and mysterious werewolf, under orders from her long-lost father, the leader of a powerful werewolf pack. Cordelia finds out she’s not just a witch, but also part werewolf.
Her father wants to use her in a political deal by forcing her to marry Bishop. But Cordelia isn’t having it. As tensions grow and Bishop starts to question his loyalty, sparks fly between them. Cordelia must choose between following her heart and fighting for her freedom.
This is Kaylee Archer’s first book, and it’s a mix of magic, drama, and slow-building romance—great for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses or From Blood and Ash.

Witch of the Wolves said witch and wolf romance, and I said, yes please!! This book gave me all of the Victorian Romantasy feels, with a deeper look at the autonomy of women during this era and the control exhibited by certain power hungry characters.
Archer brought some great feminist vibes to the FMCs character, but I wished there would have been some stronger magic from her throughout the book. The relationship that developed between the FMC and MMC worked really well within the storyline, as the forced proximity built up the attraction between the two of them. The pack conflict, secrets and betrayals, family threats, and romance set a great pace and make for a quick read.

If you love paranormal romance, complex characters, dysfunctional (murderous) families, magic, and a dark atmosphere, then I would definitely recommend Witch of the Wolves. I am ready for more in this series!!

I was immediately taken by the premise of Witch of Wolves and it did not disappoint!
Cordelia is a young witch living in Victorian London with her aunt. They come from a powerful line of witches who are formidable foes that often eschew the practices of "coven" witches and prefer to live their own lives unattached, which affords them a greater amount of freedom than most Victorian era women have.
One day, her whole world is turned upside down when she's attacked in her home by other supernaturals and then rescued by a werewolf named Bishop. He's the right hand man to the alpha of the London pack, who is her father. Her father offers her refuge in the pack's country house, but tensions are high and all is not what it seems. The pack isn't all that it seems at first glance and soon pack politics reach a breaking point. All the while, Bishop and Cordelia are drawn to each other but try to fight it.
While I felt like the beginning was a little slow, I especially loved once we got to the part of the book where Cordelia and Bishop are spending plenty of time together. Their witty banter is so good! I also found the author's take on both werewolf packs and witches different than the norm and interesting, especially when used as a comparison to each other. I was fully sucked into the story and character by the end of the book and can't wait to see where the author takes it!
What to expect:
-slow burn
-feisty FMC
-Victorian era setting
-banter
-mild open door spice
-enemies to lovers
-arranged marriage
-supernatural political intrigue

Good read! Lots of little plot twists to keep a girl on her toes. Bishop Daniels has all the potential to be a popular book boyfriend too 🤭
Sounds like Silas was always a royal a-hole, but he was definitely going mad there in the end. I was pretty sad to see so many good characters get killed off, and Marjorie definitely surprised me all around in the end. Poor girl definitely got the 💩 end of the stick in the supernatural world.
This was a medium paced read, and it was interesting enough that I would definitely read a sequel if it came out since the potential is all there with the pack needing to rebuild, and Cordelia's Cabal family looking to collect her and/or dole out some more punishment.
I noticed quite a few little grammatical errors/typos, but i figure these will be sorted out in time for the book to be published.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Witch of the Wolves is a new paranormal romance set in the Victorian era in which Cordelia, a half-witch, discovers that her father is the Alpha werewolf of a nearby pack. She is abducted by the pack under the impression they are going to protect her from other supernaturals who plan to use her for strengthening their bloodlines, and is quickly promised to her father’s right hand man, Bishop.
This was an enjoyable read. It had a slow start, but there were plenty of twists and turns throughout to keep me entertained.
I loved Cordelia’s point of view! As a big reader of both historical and paranormal romances, I adored the Victorian setting and the inclusivity. I also thought the juxtaposition of the pack’s Alpha hierarchy with London society was really compelling; there was a lot of interesting commentary on the power structure of the pack and women's’ place within it.
The villains of this book were cartoonishly evil, and I do want to give a content warning that there was lots of violence and misogyny that was shocking at times. The world-building was a bit clunky; the witchcraft particularly wasn’t utilized very much, other than one spell she repeats over and over. I also wish the hero had a bit more of a character journey.
Overall enjoyed, and I plan to continue the series.

I would rate this book a 1.5. The plot was very hard to follow, there were too many characters who were not developed enough, and too many plot twists. The main characters acted exceptionally young, while also acting like they knew better than everyone else.

4.5 ⭐️
I was really pleasantly surprised by this book! In my experience, a lot of werewolf stuff can be kind of cheesy, but I thought Kaylee Archer did a really great job here. I loved the book!
It was very fast paced, which left me longing a bit for more of a build up in tension between Bishop and Cordelia before Bishop’s restraint snaps. I like a slow burn to simmer a little bit more, ya know? However, I think that the moment Kaylee chose for him to lose control was perfect, and I love how their relationship developed after that.
There were so many twists and turns in this book. I was constantly surprised. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thank you to the publisher for the e-arc.
This book was fun to read with lots of action and twists. The Victorian setting added a unique flavor to the story. I always love wolf and witch stories and this one had both! The relationship was interesting and I wish this had resolved more by the end.
The book set up the series and I am interested to see where the story goes.

I always love a good slow burn enemies to lovers and this paranormal romance fit the bill. While there were a few slowly paced bis, in general it. Was a great fun read

Quick paced and interesting world-building. Loved the characters and plot. I was instantly sucked into the story.

ARC Review: Witch of the Wolves 🐺✨
This book takes no prisoners — from page one, you’re thrown into a whirlwind of witches, wolves, dead parents, evil parents… basically all the drama, all at once. There’s no time to catch your breath, and honestly, I’m not sure if I read this book or if it just happened to me.
If you’re a fan of fast-paced Romantasy with high-stakes magic, fated mates, and zero slow-burn (because who has time for that when the world is burning?), Witch of the Wolves is absolutely your kind of chaos. Buckle up.

The concept and setting started off strong in a paranormal Victorian/Edwardian London. I appreciated the main character's confidence and view. However, part way through, the book fell flat for me. The passage of time was unclear. The main character spent much of her time in isolation yet still associated strong bonds with side characters we were barely introduced to as the reader. I also feel that the book could be reordered to be more impactful. Key plot points were handed over too soon, cutting the impact short.
The main relationship was sort of an insta-lust, friendship, to love situation with some tension, but it was quite a let-down that they didn't actually go all the way yet. It didn't make sense or add to the story for them to withhold.
Unfortunately, I do not think I will be continuing this series.

Thank you to the publisher for the eARC! I was excited to read this book as a historical romantasy/ paranormal romance. I have always loved each of those genres separately so was looking forward to seeing how they came together. Overall I thought this was good for a debut, and that there is potential for the world building and characters as well as for some of the remaining questions to be answered as the series continues. I enjoyed it but some of the issues I ran into were with pacing and details/world building. I felt like it could have been a little more clearly explained or fleshed out. It didn't hook me as much as I thought it would going into it. However I did like the victorian england setting and the banter between Bishop and Cordelia. Hopefully this first book serves as a foundation for this story that will get better in the future!

Thank you so much to Kaylee Archer and St. Martin's Press | St. Martin's Griffin for the eARC of this book. It had me hooked from the first few chapters. Witch of the Wolves is so well written and the character developed through the book quite well. The banter and spice are too good and perfect. This book is a perfect blend of suspense and fantasy with some twists and turns. Cant wait for the next one!

I always enjoy a good book that keeps me on my toes and emotionally hurts me. This book does that. The Victorian era vibes were nice, the action starting early on, the sexual tension between the FMC and the MMC, a villain you love to hate because he is horrible, the constant betrayal around just about every corner, and the ability to kill off lovable characters makes this a very strong book.
If I was to provide any constructive criticism over what would have made this book even stronger for me; it would be:
1. Some parts of this from the MMC’s POV. I often find books are stronger with the other lead character’s POV at the very least sprinkled in.
2. Add a bit more depth to the story. A lot of these characters we don’t know much about them, their past, or what drives them. I feel like getting to know more about some of these side characters will allow for a greater impact when they are inevitably unalived. While I was truly saddened by Claude’s, Mile’s, and Charlie’s death; being able to fall in love with them a little more would have made that an unbearable loss versus just being very sad.
3. So many things happen in this book, and they happen very quickly. While I enjoyed the pacing, I would have liked to know a little bit more about the world and these supernaturals. I assume some of these may be answered in this book but providing more depth into the world as well as the characters would have turned this book from a good read to an amazing read.
This was the first time I have ever read a piece of work by Kaylee Archer. Needless to say, I LOVED this book. I plan to keep an eye out for all future work by her.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for an E-Arc copy for an honest review!
Whoah this book takes you quite on an adventure about werewolves who have strict rules. The whole dynamics of living with a pack was interesting to read about. I rarely read werewolves books but this one caught my eye and decided to give it a go.
Well the story was one thing after another with the emotions, drama, and plot twists. Where do I even began?
The beginning had me hooked. The plot had me feeling what was going to happen next? Who is the bad guy here really? Who could Cordelia trust? It was a whirlwind and had me on the edge of my seat.
Two main characters Cordelia and Bishop love to banter back and forth along with a slow burn happening between them. The spicy bits are magic between the two.
There is a darker tone to this story. Just to give you heads up about this, if this is not your cup of tea. There is a warning in the book.
The twists and turn, some I could see coming while others it took me off guard. It kept me reading and wanting to know what was going to happen next. One twist after another. I will say there was one part in the book that I had an idea what was going to happen and I almost didn't continue to read because I was worried for the characters...hahaha..But I did read on!
I'm super curious of whether or not a second book would be coming. I would definitely read the next book to find out what happens and just who exactly holds the power.

Witch of the Wolves is a wild, magical adventure packed with fierce witches, mysterious wolves, and plenty of tension. Kaylee Archer’s worldbuilding is vivid, and the characters stood out, especially the strong, determined heroine who’s not afraid to face danger head-on.
The story blends fantasy and suspense perfectly, with just the right mix of action and emotional moments. If you like magic, secrets, and a bit of a dark edge, this one’s worth reading.

I am rating this 3.5 stars. I can tell this series has a lot of potential. I really like Cordelia and Bishop along with the supporting cast.
I would like to mention that this book was a bit predictable and didn’t offer many surprises.
I am interested in picking up the next one although I was hoping for a stand-alone.
