This is my first read from Olivia Dade and from what I know about her books, paranormal romance is new to her. The concept of zombies and other supernatural and enhanced beings in a post-apocalyptic world was interesting and as a fan of all things zombie, I was excited to start reading.
Overall, I though the story was well written and fans of Olivia Dade and RomComs will be pleased. I found the humor sometimes felt too much, and I wanted more emotional interactions between Edie and Max. But those were few and far between, and almost always focused around Edie's dead parents. I also struggled to find Max an attractive love interest. He's described as extremely hot, but there was so much superficiality around him (being an influencer, conceded, etc), that I didn't buy that he was centuries-years-old, or that Edie would fall for him. It's not until nearly the end that there is more between them than one-liners (or Gaston songs parodies) meant to annoy each other and Edie finding him attractive.
While the story ended up not being right for me, I would recommend for RomCom readers looking for a new twist.

What about this book called to me? Well I love saying the title for one thing. Another is the fact that Olivia Dade WROTE A PARANORMAL ROMANCE! I will admit that it started a bit slowly for me. I wasn't immediately on board with neighbor Chad and then was hesitant about the vampire angle inside of a zombie apocalypse rom com. It was a whole lot of everything thrown in at the same time. I'm so glad I struck around though. These 2 were so much fun and I love that they get a HEA in *mostly* believable way.

Zomromcom was a fun take on the supernatural genre. The story was interesting and entertaining. I enjoyed the relationship between Edie and Max, it was well developed and thought out but I feel it took over the plot where there could be more character and story development. I would have loved to get to know more of the other characters a bit. I am hoping for a sequel because of the abrupt ending. I believe this was worth the read!

A little different genre from Olivia Dade, but still heavy on the romance. Lovely book with paranormal elements. The zombies were scary! The intrigue and potential government scandal and plot will definitely have me reading the next.

Confession: I've had a zombie phobia since I was little, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to read this book. I'm happy to say I devoured Zomromcom (without nightmares!), and look forward to any potential sequels.
I think the constantly delightful humor, interesting side characters, and mild suspense really drew me in. It doesn't always matter, but I always appreciate when the female main character is older than the average 20-something romcom lead. Dade's take on the origin of a zombie outbreak, as well as some of the supernatural people's characteristics, was interesting and original. By the end I felt invested in knowing what will happen next for these characters and their world.

I’m trying to branch out with my romance authors and I’m so glad I am! This book had me laughing and feeling all the emotions. A must read for sure!

I enjoyed this book a lot! I don’t have anything negative to say but also nothing extraordinary about it! I honestly loved the concept though!

I was really excited to read this, because I wanted to see how Dade translated her usual flair to this genre, and she didn't disappoint! I love the introduction to our protagonist, a highly empathetic lady with a burrito as a weapon.
I gave this four stars because I mostly loved it- I love Edie and Max, and I laughed out loud multiple times. The lore is amazing and the romance is romantic as hell. I guess my main issue with this is practical and pacing. I cannot for the life of me imagine any version of reality where any iteration of the US government allows anyone to live within a containment zone where there are zombies. Eminent domain would 100% be called into effect and no one would be allowed to live there. Wanting to live in the zones is basically insane, if you have the option to live elsewhere. I know zombies aren't getting out all the time, but there seems to be a pretty normal world outside of the zones, and only her parents' house to keep Edie in it. Anyone without supernatural powers stupid enough to want to live in the zone should be committed. There is also an issue here with the world building, just because we know so little about the world outside. Do you pay taxes in the zones? Are there Chipotles? We know there's a post office, are there still mail carriers? The USPS is very stalwart but I can't imagine their creed allows for zombies in addition to foul weather.
The pacing was also a bit wonky, but I overall had a good time. I look forward to the sequel, hopefully it's a bit less disjointed.

This book was an absolute blast from start to finish! Olivia Dade somehow made zombies adorable and swoony, and I am here for it. The heart of this story is its main couple—Edie, a sharp, plus-sized heroine with a big heart and zero tolerance for nonsense, and Max, her mysterious (and very hot) neighbor who turns out to be a centuries-old vampire. Their banter is hilarious, their chemistry is off the charts, and their slow-burn connection had me grinning the whole way through.
The zombie apocalypse is more of a quirky backdrop than a horror story, which makes the tone playful and fun—think Shaun of the Dead meets rom-com gold. But it also had surprising depth, touching on themes like loneliness, self-worth, and found family, all wrapped up a with a some feel goods and witty banter!

I'm a big fan of Olivia Dade, paranormal romances, and zombies, so when I was invited to read this title I was over the moon! There were many parts of this story I did enjoy. I felt the romance between Max and Edie was very believable and flowed well. I looooove when the love interest has googly eyes for the MC behind the scenes before the two seriously interact. However, the dialogue was really tough to read. Too many "dude"s, "bro"s, and corny bits. This humor felt like a time capsule in history (derogatory). I really enjoyed the plot until about 1/3 of the way into the book. Once additional characters were introduced, the story suffered. I essentially skimmed the last portion of the book. I absolutely will continue to read Dade's work and speak highly of her writing. This just wasn't the story for me. I am opting not to review it on Goodreads as a result of my end review.

I'm a big fan of Olivia Dade, and this book is stellar. Her foray into supernatural romance is fun, funny, a little heart-wrenching, and very spicy once you get there. Also, LOVE all of her pop culture references; it's like reading someone else's interpretations of my own thoughts.

Holy attack burrito readers; you are in for a delightfully funny, banter filled, soft 'enemies' to lovers romance that just so happens to also feature zombies, vampires, and hidden fae.
I've read Olivia Dade's work before, and loved it. So I was super excited to find out she was dipping into the paranormal world. And I was not disappointed with the end result. Except for that whole ending thing. Yeah, not a fan of the cliff hangery ending. XD
Edie is delightful, although concerningly addicted to hyper processed food, and I adored her from the get go when she was willing to take on a zombie armed with nothing more than a burrito. Max quickly wormed his way into my heart as an often times pretentious man, who is trying his best to not give in to the fact that he his head over fangs for his ridiculous neighbor.
10 out 10. Would make up new lyrics to razz my vampire neighbor if I had one. Maybe in the next book Edie can convince me to try canned falafel.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the eARC, even though it means I'm suffering as I wait extra long for book 2.

Listen I know this book is a Zombie Rom Com, and I get it, I truly do but I am disheartened to say, this book was not my favorite. I fear this book suffers from trying too hard to be ultra quirky and it just comes off too over the top. There is a sweet spot when writing humor and romance and I love when authors get it right but this one was just a little too overdone to make me love it. There were bits about the story that I liked but on the whole, this one was just ok for me. Of course there are many readers that will devour this one with a giggle and I love that!
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group | Berkley for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Zombies, vampires, apocalypse, OH MY.
This was so fun and quickly made me add all of Olivia's backlist to my TBR. This was so fun, and the banter between Edie and Max gave me life. What woman wouldn't want to be distracted by an old, grumpy but persistent vampire while trying to actively save everyone from zombies?
Edie was hilarious, and she did not give two flying flips, in the best way. My girl was gonna do what she had to do, regardless lol. This honestly gave me low-key Shaun of the Dead vibes in the banter throughout, and that's a forever favorite movie, so I was here for it. I always truly appreciate a well-represented plus-size FMC, and from what I can see in her other books, it looks like Olivia always hits the mark there, and I'm here for it. If you want a fun, action-filled romance with a side of zombie apocalypse madness, be sure to check this one out in August!

Move over Edward, there's a new swoon worthy vampire in town! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and sneak peek into Olivia Dade's new world. Harlot's Bay this is not!
French-speaking zombies (oh! that twist! LOL), Supernaturals, Enhanced humans, counterfeiters, and a big-hearted heroine plus our vampire hero make for an interesting dystopian world.
How best to sum up this delight? Noooo one's big like Gaston... wields a sword like Gaston.... wears fur undies like Gaston.... steals your heart like Gaston...

📖 Bookish Thoughts
This was a hilarious romcom… zombie edition?! Think The Walking Dead meets Shaun of the Dead—real ones know—with a dash of fae, vampires, witches, and pure unfiltered chaos. I laughed the entire time reading. Edie is an absolute ✨vibe✨—resourceful, hilarious, and ready to take on a zombie with a burrito. I am, however, deeply concerned about her love for processed snacks.
Also… her trolling Max by singing the Gaston song on repeat?? I cackled. That alone deserves five stars. Max is the perfect grump to her sunshine, and their dynamic carried the whole book.

💭 Final Thoughts
This book was everything I didn’t know I needed—zombies, magic, banter, and the most chaotic FMC I’ve read in a while!!! Edie is a menace in the best way!! And she was absolutely perfect for Max. He needed some fun in his life!
📖 Final Score: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5)
ARC Note: Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts are my own!

Olivia Dade is a gem. I love the fact that she went supernatural with this new series. I love her contemporary romances and all things spooky, so this was the marriage of two of my favorite things. I appreciate that Chad/Gaston/Max was a modern vampire-- as in well adjusted to the current world no matter his age (a vampire influencer, dead). All of Olivia Dade's heroines are always spunky and Edie fit this bill perfectly, As always, Olivia Dade is also super hilarious. My BFF and I had a serious conversation of what kind of burrito would make the best weapon ( we both agreed on rice, beans, cheese, carnitas, no soggy sauces/guac, get those on the side, and get a fork to avoid the soggy tortilla after battle). Can't wait to see what Olivia Dade has in store next!

I absolutely love the characters and their story. Definitely held my attention from page one. Can’t wait to read more of Olivia’s book because I’m hooked.

I wish he had just stayed being Chad.
For my first ARC, I really wanted this to be good, but it just wasn't. I love anything zombie related, so I thought for sure that I would love this. The beginning held some promise, but the book quickly lost steam around the 20%-25% mark. Very little character development occurred. Very little plot development occurred. Don't even get me started on the relationship development—because there wasn't any. It gave "action!" "cut!" "action!" "cut!" over and over again. A scene would happen, and then the lights would turn off, and the next set would light up, with no transition in between them. There was no real heart, for lack of a better descriptor.
That being said, I do think there are some who might enjoy this. Millennials, align. The humor was just lacking. The whole Oracle sequence would have done numbers on me in 2014—when I was 12, mind you—but it all felt very "I need to write something funny so here's this meme from iFunny hope you like it."
I also think people who did not like Bride by Ali Hazelwood, but are still searching for a supernatural romance to dip their toes into the genre, would probably like this.
The relationship between Edie and Chad/Max/Gaston/Euro Max/Ye Ol Emperor of Darkness, or whatever his name was, was just not giving what it could have given. I saw the potential, but everything felt very insta-love. I wish we'd have gotten more longing, rather than immediate sex, because human-supernatural longing can be so good if done right.
Overall, I just really did not enjoy this book, which is so unfortunate. But I look forward to checking out any new supernatural romance books that Olivia Dade comes out with. I just can't promise I will suffer through them, if they're anything like this book.

I thought this was fun!! I was only in it for the romance, which definitely delivered. The whole zombie bit wasn’t for me though.
There were long sections of dialogue I thought slowed the plot and didn’t add enough tension.
But I love a plus size MC!! The banter was hilarious too!
