Edie doesn’t care much for her dumb but ridiculously good looking neighbor Chad, but that doesn’t mean that she wants him to become zombie food. When zombies breach their compound, Edie doesn’t hesitate to jump into the fray when it appears that Chad is about to meet his untimely end. Unfortunately, her weapon of toys is a lukewarm burrito, which doesn’t prove to be very effective against the zombie population. She gets the surprise of her life, though when Chad isn’t as feather brained as he appears, and jumps into action, saving them both. It turns out that Chad is really Max, a sexy vampire in frat boy clothing. Max doesn’t want any entanglements and Edie doesn’t want to be anyone’s weakness ever again. But as they spend more time together, it gets harder to fight their true feelings. Now they just have to survive long enough to admit what they mean to each other.
Zombies and romance are a match made in heaven. As a longtime fan of zombie movies and romances, I was excited to read Zomromcom. Edie is a sunny and quirky main character who you can’t help but root for and Max is a typical grumpy sunshine vampire who acts like he doesn’t care but really has a heart of gold.
While I enjoyed some of the banter between Edie and Max, it often felt contrived like they were trying to be clever. Their chemistry was just ok for me and I wish there had let the relationship develop over a longer period. They both feel for each other so quickly
I also felt that there were too many supernatural elements thrown into the mix. There are zombies, vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, and elves (and maybe more?). I’ve read other books with multiple paranormal species in them, but there wasn’t enough world building to justify including them here.
I had high expectations for this book and was a little disappointed. It’s a really great premise that I think had a few too many elements bogging it down and characters that didn’t quite spark. However, if you like light hearted reads with zippy dialogue and a bit of romance, Zomromcom is worth a try.
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my review or opinion of the book.

Thank you Berkley for the gifted book! This was my first Olivia Dade so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I really like paranormal romances so I was excited!
This book was fun in a cringey way. Mainly because Max calling her "my Edie" made my skin crawl. I feel like the number of supernatural creatures got a little out of hand by the end. I wish the creatures had been introduced to begin with or more gradually so that it wasn't everything getting dumped all at once.
Overall, if you like funny, spicy romances and are ready to suspend your disbelief a little bit, this is a fun read.

Soooooo good!! Omg, the tension, comedy, trauma, romance off the bat is everything. I’m not a huge fan of 3rd person but this was so good. I love it!

Zomromcom is a quirky and chaotic story, with a mix of humor, romance and the occasional deeper moments of introspection amidst the absurdity. The world has been altered by a zombie outbreak and supernatural creatures such as vampires, witches, demons and fae have revealed their existence to help ensure their survival.
Main character Edie is a plus-size woman in her late-thirties-which is refreshing representation in terms of age and appearance-independent and empathetic and whose compassion for others is sometimes to her own detriment. Yet she’s far from a pushover and has spent twenty years surviving on her own, while carrying the emotional scars from a personal loss.
An ill-conceived-though thoughtful-attempt at rescuing her neighbor reveals that he isn’t as harmless-or vacuous-as he had always appeared. Gaston “Max” Boucher AKA “Chad” is actually a vampire…and very into high fashion.
I didn’t find Max quite as engaging as Edie when the typical detached and superior vampire personality was very prevalent in the beginning of Zomromcom, but his bantering with Edie and the moments where he displayed more emotional vulnerability did lead to him growing on me slightly.
Edie making up new renditions of the Gaston song to needle him was also amusing.
Secondary characters do appear as Edie and Max embark on a journey to protect their fellow residents following another zombie breech and they provide some interesting personalities and help propel the plot forward.
Zomromcom is an interesting combination of monstrous zombies and paranormal romance. I’m a fan of the former more than the latter, but I still found the novel to be enjoyable.

this book was really cute it follows Edie who gets saved by her her neighbor and they basically team up to save their neighborhood. i really did enjoy this book although some parts were a bit clunky and didn't make much sense but it did have me giggling at some parts. also this cover is stunning!

From the second this was announced, I knew I had to have it. I love a good romantic paranormal/fantasy and hearing Olivia Dade was doing one made it even better. I am so glad that I was granted an advance copy. I could not get enough of this! From the first page to long after the last, Olivia pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. The narration was fantastic as well. I was able to listen and read at the same time, and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. The audiobook was wonderful! The narrator pulls you in, especially with Max’s French accent. It was fantastic. It made me laugh, it made me swoon, and it made me want to never go through a zombie apocalypse. 😂
Both Max and Edie were fantastic characters. I loved their full character ARCs, and how their chemistry grew and grew. Their banter is some of my favorite. It was hilarious. I adored listening, and I’m so thankful the narrator was able to capture it. I also loved seeing all the side characters and it they made such a great impression. I cannot recommend this one enough! Definitely get your copy. Also, I will never think of the Gaston song the same. 😂 IYKYK. This is just a wonderful way to kick off August, with this fantastic book.

I am not one to gravitate towards books with zombies but when I saw this title and that Olivia Dade was writing it, I knew I had to check it out! This story was quite entertaining. Edie had quite the humor which had me giggling throughout the story, and Max was so sweet. I rooted for them both as they navigated this zombie outbreak but also their growing relationship. The secondary characters also had me laughing and rooting for their safety! I did not realize this was the start of a series until I got to the end of this book and can't wait to hear about more of the characters that I have come to enjoy and their continued stories. Thank you to Berkley Pub for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

When the first zombie breach in two years occurs Edie thinks she is trying to save her harmless human neighbor from attack. Instead he ends up saving her, and he isn't a harmless human, he is a vampire. Gaston "Max" Boucher would prefer for Edie to hide out in his underground bunker but she can't sit quietly while others are attacked. Edie and Max set out to find out what or who is behind the breach, finding allies and possibly love along the way.
I had a great time with this book. Olivia Dade is a favorite of mine. I love having a fat female main character that is loved in every possible way. Edit and Max are such a fun duo. Their chemistry is off the charts! This book is also laugh out loud funny. I also really enjoyed the mystery related to the zombies, it added some nice tension. I would love to get more of this world in the future. I'm really happy to see that this will be a series. I will be counting the days until we get the next book.

Armed with only a burrito, our fearless heroine, Edie, jumps in to save her dudebro neighbor from a zombie attack. Only to find out that he's actually a vampire who never needed saving in the first place. They then have to work together to head off a zombie invasion. In a world where apparently all supernatural beings are real, nothing takes itself too seriously (or seriously at all). This book had me in stitches from start to finish, and was packed with action, fantastic side characters, and some pretty good spice. I really hope this becomes a series, and Olivia Dade remains one of my auto-read authors.

The main characters live in a world inhabited by zombies. One evening, Edie tries to save her neighbor from a zombie attack using a burrito—but it ends with him saving her instead. It turns out the neighbor isn’t human—he’s a vampire. He invites her into his secure bunker to stay safe until things calm down outside. Together, they decide to fight for the future of humanity against the zombies.
I’ve never read a book about zombies before, but since I enjoy expanding my reading horizons, this one caught my attention. Unfortunately, it turned out not to be for me. From the very first page, we’re thrown straight into the chaos—right in the middle of a zombie attack on Edie—and I quickly realized that the graphic descriptions of zombies and the overall intensity made me feel quite uncomfortable. This genre just isn’t for me—at least for now.
That said, I appreciated that Edie is a confident woman who fully embraces who she is, including her weight. I also liked Max—his protectiveness toward her was genuinely sweet.

This was hilarious, romantic, heartfelt and ACTION-PACKED. I haven't read a zombie book in so long, and this one managed to live up to all the ones I loved in high-school. I fell in love with Max and loved the plus-sized representation of Edie. They had some of the best banter ever. CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK

5/5
Someone send me her phone number or email cause I have so many questions (good ones lol). This book started off as a 4.5 but naturally in true Anisha fashion it needed up as a 5 star read. I was a little bit confused in the beginning and in some parts, but I finished this in 24 hours because I couldn't put it down.
It was fun, flirty, hot, action packed, it had me mouth wide open, I loved it all. And also, this is why I go into books blind because I was reading it having fun thinking it's just two neighbors fighting zombies BOOM Chads a vampire!!!!!!!!! You got me good girl!! Please let there be a sequel!

In the twenty years since a zombie outbreak, Edie Brandstrup remained in the home she grew up in, making soap and surviving in a world that now knows about the existence of fae, vampires, witches, werewolves, and other kinds of supernatural. When she tries to save her goofy neighbor from a zombie attack, she discovers Max is actually a powerful vampire when he saves her life instead. The two work together to save others at Edie's insistence and discover that the latest zombie attacks are part of a larger conspiracy. The motley crew works together to save humanity. And along the way, Edie is falling in love with a grumpy vampire.
As much as zombies freak me out, this is a hilarious take on the genre. Edie normally patrols her immediate neighborhood within the containment area of the outbreak, makes soap, and mails it out to customers who ordered via Etsy. She thinks her neighbor is a stoner and oblivious to his surroundings when a stray zombie comes into the area. She means well with her attempt to save him, and it's a complete surprise when he saves her instead. He has a bunker and is a vampire named Gaston Maxime Boucher, so her eternally sunny personality means she sings songs based on the animated Disney movie when he's too grumpy. He's fully willing to hide until the all clear sounds, but she worries about others who might not have as good security or bunkers. This leads them to enter the containment zone areas, finding more zombies, other humans, and then the signs of a conspiracy when the usual methods to secure the containment area aren't functioning.
I enjoyed seeing the snarky conversation, the flashes of recognition when they know the same YouTube content creators, the mall invasion, and the background not only into the creation of the zombies, but of the relationships other supernatural creatures have with each other. It's very clever and riffs off some tropes in horror survival stories as well as our own suburban life. Along the way, the development of friendship and more felt naturally done, and I enjoyed seeing Edie and Max get to know each other and care. I really enjoyed the story.

ZOM- We get thrown into this world of zombies and supernatural right away and for the most part, it worked. I enjoyed figuring out the mystery of the recent zombie outbreak and the side characters we met along the way.
ROM- we also get thrown into this romance that came out of nowhere. It was even less than instalust... they didn't even know each and we don't get any build up to the lust. As individuals, our main characters were great, but the romance didn't work for me.
COM- some good funny bits! The Gaston parodies were exceptional.

I love romcoms and paranormal romances so I knew I needed to read this as soon as I saw it, and I absolutely LOVED IT. It was hilarious and exciting and just everything I wanted it to be, even a little spicy. It was written in 3rd person, which isn’t a favorite for a lot of people, but it was so entertaining that I barely registered it to be honest. Edie and her neighbor, Max, live in a more or less abandoned neighborhood following a zombie attack. When a group of zombies escape containment, they team up in an attempt to keep each other alive while trying to sound the alarm and keep other residents safe. Along the way they start to develop feelings for one another, find some unlikely allies of different backgrounds (trolls, witches, fae), and discover that maybe the zombie escape wasn’t really an “escape” at all. This was such a fun ride and it looks like we may be getting additional books, which I will be very much looking forward to.

Is this book a bit of a mess? Yes.
Is the world building a little confusing? Yes.
Is it insta-love? Also yes.
Did I care?? NO!
Well, maybe a little. This book has A LOT going on and really is very messy, but it was so fun that I find myself willing to forgive a lot. The lore around the zombies was questionable and Max (MMC) really seems to switch from hate to love in about 3 seconds, but again it is zany and silly and romantic in a way that made me continually want to be reading it when I was doing anything else. The supporting cast is an absolute delight and the romance is HOT. Even with its flaws, I am certain I will be snagging the next book in the series as soon as I can. Sometimes, things don't need to be perfect to be worth our time.

This book was so fun and funny to read! The banter between the 2 main characters was hilarious. I love a grumpy/sunshine duo! The zombie make-ups and characteristics were very unique and unexpected as well!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

Initially, I absolutely adored this book. It was refreshing to find a romance novel with a female main character over 30. There were plenty of moments that had me chuckling. However, I felt a bit lost at first because we are thrown into a world we knew nothing about, who or what created the zombies, what kind of zombies they were, and so on. The Gaston song was a funny touch at first, but it felt overdone by the end. While I enjoyed the first half of the book, the latter part felt a bit clumsy at times and not quite as enjoyable. All in all, it was an entertaining read, just a few aspects didn't quite sit right with me.

I'm a big fan of Olivia Dade's books since her romantic main characters are fat women, which still isn't as popular for heroines (and anyone else) should be. Edie, the main character of Zomromcom, is funny, outgoing, brave, and sexy. She faces all of the ridiculous situations she's in with vampires, zombies, gangs, etc. with courage. Gaston (or Chad) is her love interest is uptight at first but his feelings for Edie are difficult to hide. He's snarky (actually Edie is too), protective, and useful to have around when they face zombies.
Overall, I had a lot of fun reading this book. It's fast paced with humorous and sexy moments throughout the book. Zomromcom is perfect for readers who enjoy paranormal romances without any dark elements.

Olivia Dade's 'ZomRomCom' is a genre-bending masterpiece that blends zombies, romance, and comedy in a way that's both hilarious and heartwarming. The characters are lovable and quirky, and the story is engaging and unpredictable. I loved the way the author balanced humor and horror, creating a narrative that's both laugh-out-loud funny and genuinely suspenseful.
