Zomromcom follows Edie, who attempts to save her neighbor Max from the first major zombie breach in two decades. However, he ends up saving her. Edie learns very quickly that he is a vampire. Max wants her to stay with him so he can protect her. Edie can’t risk more people getting killed. So Max reluctantly teamed up with her to save the world against the zombies. But while they are saving the world, they might just fall for each other.
I am obsessed with this book! I loved everything about this. From the very start of this book, I was hooked. This book had nonstop action. I thought the spicy parts were good. I found myself laughing out loud many times, as this book was just so unhinged, but in the best way. Also, the Disney references 10 out of 10 .This is my favorite Olivia Dade book. I can’t wait to reread this. This was just such a fun read.
Thank you, Olivia Dade and Berkley for the ARC of this book. This comes out August 5!

I think I liked the idea of this book better than how it played out. A romance set amidst a zombie apocalypse sounds like a fun idea. However, this was so cringeworthy and hokey. I just couldn't take the book seriously. The romance between Edie and Max seemed so sudden and uneven. When they meet he is literally telling her not to trust him or anyone, and within hours, he's ankle deep in love with her. He claims he's pansexual, but this book takes place over a couple of days at best. Can someone who is pansexual fall in love that fast? The thing that kept me from DNFing this book was the mystery of it all. Who unleashed the zombies and why? After 90% of the book of them killing zombies and warning people, they get to the part about "well, what are they going to do now that they've defeated the zombies," and they go "Oh, I know who we can confide in!" And BOOM Ending. It's left unresolved. I see it's gonna be a series, and I guess that is why she left it this way, but I was so annoyed that I had to read 400 pages of this book(which in itself is so excessive) to get no resolution. I will not be picking up book 2.
Look, I loved the Spoiler Alert series, but Olivia Dade's past couple of reads have fallen completely flat for me, and I don't think her writing style is for me. Did we really need 7 renditions of the Gaston song?
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 8/5

This was my first time reading Olivia Dade. While this didn’t blow me away, I did enjoy her humor. And I would like to read more from her.
I felt like this was a little too convoluted, and I lost the plot. On a line and scene level, this was great with some really funny moments and genuinely perilous stakes. I liked the high action paired with some tender and steamy scenes and the overall campy tone. The banter was a definite highlight!
I do think there are readers who will really enjoy this one. It just wasn’t a favorite for me.
My rating: 3.5⭐️

This book was more romcom than zombies, which is fine, it just wasn’t for me. I feel that many other people would enjoy the banter and humor of this book. The writing was well done but I do think the plot was muddied by adding so many supernatural elements. Overall, I would recommend to someone wanting something comedic.

Zom Romcom has a premise I was really excited about: a "cozy" zombie apocalypse romance (can zombies be cozy? idk my anxiety says no) with a grumpy/sunshine dynamic and two leads with delightfully unconventional careers (a male model / fashion YouTuber and an Etsy soap seller) for apocolyptic times. I had a lot of fun reading this, and there’s no doubt Olivia Dade knows how to bring warmth and humor to a story.
That said, the book struggled under the weight of its own ambition. While I could have fully bought into the zombie romance setup, the inclusion of numerous other magical creatures made the worldbuilding feel overcrowded and underdeveloped. The pacing also felt off. For such a short novel with so much going on, there were odd moments of slowness, and the central conflict resolved far too quickly and conveniently. It’s clear the book is setting up for a sequel, but I wish book one had been more focused and self-contained.
The romance itself leaned a bit too far into insta-love for my taste. While the connection between the main characters was sweet and the banter mostly worked (some jokes were over done), their emotional and physical bond developed a little too quickly to feel fully earned. That said, the spice scenes were fun and playful! However, the use of French for anatomical descriptions wasn’t exactly my favorite stylistic choice...
Overall, while the core romance and character dynamics had potential, the story felt like it was trying to do too much too fast. Still, if you enjoy genre mashups, chaotic worldbuilding, and don’t mind a bit of insta-love, this could be a fun ride.

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley, and Olivia Dade for an e-ARC of Zomromcom!
Edie Brandstrup tries to protect her neighbor during a zombie outbreak, but then discovers he's actually a centuries-old vampire named Gaston (Max) Boucher. Together, they uncover a conspiracy behind the zombie breach and team up with unlikely allies to figure out what’s really going on. As they fight to save humanity, Edie and Max grow closer, forcing Edie to question if love is worth risking everything.
Edie is so relatable and I like how she cares about everyone she meets. She feels things deeply and Max knows how to balance her and think (somewhat) logically. Overall, I loved the characters and thought they were all pretty unique.
My complaints come from the plot. Here’s the thing: I wanted to love this book. I thought it would be a home-run. But unfortunately, I was really only interested in the Zom of the Zomromcom. It felt like the banter really cut down the seriousness of some of the situations Edie and Max were in. I understand lightening the mood, but the banter got distracting. I think it was a fun book and I’m still interested in the overall plot, but I couldn’t stay interested in the romance. The romance plot felt secondary to everything else.

I really wanted to like this one. I really, really tried. But maybe this genre isn’t for me? While I initially enjoyed the witty banter and was looking forward to a zombie attack, I started finding both MC a bit much, and cheesy at times
Looking at reviews, I’m definitely the minority here, so please don’t use my review to decide if you want to pick this one up
2.5⭐️ rounded to 3⭐️

Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group/Berkley and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this title to read and give my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
This was my first full length book by this author. I did read a novella by her and remember enjoying it so I wanted to see what she would do with a full story. I was not disappointed. This book was so much fun. Was it a bit full of cheese? It sure was. Paranormal romance with every type of paranormal create and zombies plus lots of laughs. It also challenged what I know of those paranormal creatures from past books I've read.
Edie Brandstrup lives in the containment zone. A place where zombies are the norm, rather than not. But the zombies were originally created for a purpose. Unfortunately, that purpose took a turn and the zomibes got out of control. Edie just wants to live her life and make her artisnal soaps without being bothered. But when she encounters a zombie and realizes the containment zone has been breached, she knows she needs to warm everyone, including her neighbor Chad. But Chad is not who she thought he was since he moved in three years ago. Together they team up to combat the zombie problem and find each other along the way.
This book is full of so many different tropes. I loved each and every one. Grumpy/sunshine vibes, in a dystopian world, full of the paranormal? Why yes, sign me it. Dade took these elements and totally made them work. On top of that, she infused so much comedy into the book. There were pop culture references that were spot on. And the pacing was great. I kept wanting to turn the page to see what happened next. There is a lot of world building in this book. I am thankful for the map and explanations at the beginning as a guide to understand how the containment zones were set up.
Edie was a fun character. I loved that she was older, 38, and not some typically beautiful romance heroine. She's quirky and fun and keeps to herself. And Chad (Max), well, he's a character in and of himself. I loved his grumpy vampire vibes and how they complemented Edie's sunshine. Of course Max has his secrets, which he keeps well hidden. But Edie cracks his icy exterior and eventually gets down to the core of him.
This book is definitely a romcom but there are also a ton of emotional elements woven in. Self worth, post traumatic stress,
And the final chapter being from a different POV! YES! That sets the scene for the next installment in this series. I didn't even know it was going to be a series so that chapter made me extremely happy. This book was an absolute blast to read. I can't wait to see what happens next!

This is the first book in the Supernatural Entanglements series and a comedic paranormal romance featuring a curvy lovable FMC Edie and her dude bro neighbor Max (Chad/Gaston), who team up to fight against an overwhelming zombie surge and adventure together to warn the other occupants in the compound they live in because of a failed government warning system.
It has monster romance, grumpy/ sunshine, and dystopian vibes. The banter between Max and Edie is endearing and funny, making this more of a lighthearted comedy than an end of the world suspenseful drama. There are plenty of fantastical creatures featured, including Vampires, Witches, Fae, Trolls, Zombies, along with humans and Super or Enhanced beings.
A lot of world building takes place in this first book. I liked that there was a map of the compound to help the reader envision the layout. The cheesey humor is rampant, romance progresses steadily throughout the story, and the plot ends on a cliffhanger that should lead into book two. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the current characters return, maybe getting more of their backstories, and meeting new ones in the sequel.

Twenty years ago, zombies escaped their government compound and ravaged the locals, killing many humans. Now there are three zones, four walls, and four moats that comprise the Containment Zone. Edie’s parents died saving her during the First Breach, and she still lives in her childhood home in Zone A, despite the fact that most of her neighbors have moved. Things have been quiet until one day when Edie and her neighbor are attacked by a rogue zombie. Soon they discover a pack is on the loose, and Edie feels compelled to save the humans both in and out of the Containment Zone.
Zomromcom is so much fun! I absolutely love the humor and banter between Edie and her vampire neighbor Gaston, aka not-Chad, aka Max. Dade writes some of the wittiest, funniest situations that leave me cackling. For example, Edie continually creates hilarious lyrics to the Gaston Song from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. I dare you to try and not sing along!
Max and Edie each had given up on life in a way. She is determined to stay in the Zone so she can hold on to the memories of her parents. He has secrets that led him to live a solitary life. But finding one another breathes life back in each. And while the traumatic events of a second zombie breach brings them together, the spark was already there and ready to ignite.
Even though this is a romcom, Dade works in deeper emotional moments. Edie had to endure listening to her parents be killed by the zombies and never wants someone to sacrifice themselves to save her again. She’s haunted, yet she still shines as bright as the sun. She and Max deal with their difficult pasts with emotional maturity and a lot of silly moments. The humor balances the action/adventure and the emotionally difficult times. Zomromcom is such a great story, keeping the pace moving forward and never dwelling too long in the darkness, just long enough to share some genuine moments.
I just adore everything Dade writes. She is a magnificent storyteller. Her stories are a lot of fun with big heart. Her main characters can be silly and different, but they are genuine.
My Rating: A-

Thanks to @berkleypub and @berkleyromance for the gifted e-ARC and to @prhaudio for the ALC!
This is a delightful book romp through the dystopian hellscape of a zombie apocalypse. It’s everything we love about cozy fantasy—witches with cozy cottages and trolls who are foodies—and everything we love about paranormal romance—s€xy AF vampires with vaguely European accents who ravage the FMC (with her consent) in their lairs. Add in the impending doom of zombies waiting to rip out your neck and some madcap details like falafel in a can and macramé bikini briefs. But through it all our plucky FMC triumphs through witty banter and a caring heart.
This book is what would happen if Bride by Ali Hazelwood and A Werewolf's Guide to Seducing a Vampire by Sarah Hawley had a baby with The Walking Dead.
Really the only thing that could make this one more perfect is if we didn’t have to wait an unspecified amount of time for book two to find out what happens next!
I love that Edie is plus sized, but it’s not mentioned repeatedly or even made the only descriptor of her character. In fact, after the first mention, it doesn’t come up again! It’s not the focus. It’s just part of who she is. And her s€xy vampire likes her exactly the way she is.
This book made me laugh and gasp. It made me squeal and kick my feet. It made me fan myself at times. And it kept me on the edge of my seat because I had to know what happened next.
The audiobook was perfect. The single narrator managed to voice the wide variety of characters all with unique accents. I never struggled to know who was who. And she brought perfect tension and drama to the story.
I’m definitely getting a shelf trophy of this one. And I cannot wait to continue the story in book two!

What an absolute blast of a book! I love it when you can tell that an author had fun writing a story and that is absolutely the case here.
I honestly think it’s better just to dive into this one without reading anything about it first, but, needless to say, yes, it is a romcom. And, yes, our love interests fight zombies while falling in love with each other.
If you’re looking for an escape that will make you snicker and grin (with some gory details thrown in), this is the book for you.
A comparable book vibes-wise would be Fan Service (but with, you know, zombies and fighting added).
I received an advance copy of the book from Berkley. All review opinions are my own.

1000000 stars. Oh my I LOVED THIS. I think I am semi-obsessed with Max and Edie. I'm sorry a fat, late 30s FMC (hi!!) who is not only creative, and hilarious, but BADASS. She lives by herself and has a custom soap business, but also is totally prepared to take down zombies AND fully ready to put herself into mortal danger to save anyone else she can. She is a freaking delight and I would be her friend instantly; her comedic timing and songs about Gaston were perfection. And Max, you big softy! He is a stale marshmellow, aka my very favorite type of MMC. He is also badass and scary and the way he is feral to protect Edie had my arms tingling. But then you get to know him and he has such a softheart. Oh I cannot get enough of these two.
Also I was so excited to see how this romcom worked within a zombified world and it WORKS SO WELL. This is the most fun paranormal romance I have read. I was completely horrified and entranced and this book has a iron grip hold on my heart. So sweet and funny and deeply emotional (get ready for trauma that will make you cry, before you are quickly laughing a few pages later).
AFTER THAT ENDING WE ARE GETTING MORE BOOKS YES?!?!?!?! PLEASE?!?!
Audiobook Note: I listened to the audiobook and IT WAS PERFECT. Edie is personified exactly as I pictured her and the comedy and angst and emotions are all perfectly done. And Max - that accent?! That intenseness that covers his soft inner heart?! Impeccably executed (am I get so easily cringed by accents usually).
Thanks to the publisher for a free copy and ALC; my thoughts and review are my own.

3.5 stars. The synopsis had me hooked, I loved the concept, the execution unfortunately wasn’t for me. The dialogue was my biggest issue but i know people who would love this story more.

Edie is human (and a total sweetheart!) with a background that broke my heart—but her resilience, joy, and burrito-wielding bravery?? ICONIC. The girl really tried to fend off a zombie with fast food, and honestly I respect it. Max (or Chad 😆) is the ultimate grumpy vampire, all dry tones and blank stares, but when he finally reveals why he moved in next door… my HEART. I KNEW IT! But hearing it confirmed had me straight-up melting. 🥺💘 This book is packed with more than just zombies and vamps—we get demons, trolls, fae, enhanced humans… like hello, surprise supernatural world? Yes please! And just when I thought it’d be all giggles and gore…bam, the spice shows up. Not way over the top every other page, but spicy enough to make you blink twice when he calls it “ma bite” 🤭🔥 Chapter 16?? I was screaming. The fight, the injury, the promise, the teeth marks?? NOOOO.
Even when the characters annoyed me a little, I still had an absolute blast. The banter was gold, the laughs kept coming, and that romance hit me right in the feels.

Thank you Berkeley for this arc!
This was my first read from Olivia Dade and I had a wonderful time.
There's so much to talk about with this, from the fantasy aspect, the comedy and the romance between our two MCs.
I loved grumpy Max and how contrasting Edie was to his grumpiness.
Also did not know how violent soap-making supplies could be under the right circumstances.
The ending left me wanting more - here's hoping for an announcement!

First of all, I would like to thank Berkley and Netgalley for the advance copy.
I was very intrigued by this book as soon as I saw it. I found the concept quite interesting: a romantic comedy set during a zombie apocalypse. And in fact, the book tries to be that, but never quite succeeds, which is a shame because it had immense potential.
Well, let's talk about what worked and what didn't. I would be lying if I didn't say that there were moments when I enjoyed the story and the characters, but there were also many moments when I couldn't stand the dialogue.
Let's talk about the big positives of this book. We love seeing a plus-size protagonist who is also older, in her late 30s. I didn't know Max was a vampire when I picked up this book, but I liked that part. Side note: I love that all the vampires are pansexual.
But now let's talk about what didn't work. I think the author tried to introduce as many supernatural creatures as she could in a short space of time, which makes the reading overloaded, but at the same time doesn't explain the origin of the zombie apocalypse. So there are major flaws in the worldbuilding.
The dialogues were a little awkward to read at times, trying too hard to be funny, but ending up falling flat. One such example was the whole scene with Max's names.
Now about the romance, this is insta-love. I finished the book and was left thinking that these two won't last because it seems more like lust than real love. The beginning of their relationship is fun, but the dynamic between the characters quickly cools off as soon as another character enters the scene.
Anyone who reads this book for the smut will like that part. There are several scenes, and the first one happens relatively early in the book. They are all very well written and enjoyable to read, one of the best parts of the book, I would say.
This was the first book I read by Olivia Dade, and it's not a book I would necessarily recommend because there were so many flaws, but I would still like to read other books by her that are more focused on romance and less on fantasy.

From page 1, this book wasn’t working for me. Were immediately thrown into a zombie attack-fine! But we aren’t given any sense of where we are and then we’re retroactively told. The writing was just really disjointed and not what I enjoy reading.

A goofy Walking Dead spin off vibe with vampires, fae etc. I loved the intro to this, but the plot just didn’t add up for me in some parts. Why did the MMC vampire just instinctually like the FMC human and stalk her house? Don’t know. Also can’t get over that the FMC beat a zombie with a burrito then ate it, I don’t think I can ever get past that 😂😂😂. The counterfeiters were so fun and loved their moment. Overall, it was fun but the plot needed a little extra umph.

ZomRomCom features Edie, soap maker and human and Max, influencer and vampire. When the zombies that are supposed to be contained attack, Edie and Max team up to stop them.
I really enjoy Olivia Dade’s writing and I was excited for this one, but it took madcap romp to a whole new level. The zany humour was fun for a bit and then after the third Gaston song it started to get just… too much. I appreciate the intent but it just didn’t click for me.
Edie was great, I love an Olivia Dade heroine, they’re always just so confident and lovely. Edie had such a big heart and I enjoyed her. Max was fine? I honestly didn’t get him. He was from another time and definitely had some reservations but also he was guarded and kind of rude at the start and I didn’t get the deception. And then he was so in love with Edie it was like whiplash.
Overall, fine but so weird.
