Max and Edie are two people just trying to make it through a zombie apocalypse. They both have similar childhood trauma and are living with that still being with them. One of them will throw themself into danger’s way to save someone and the other says that no one is worth sacrificing yourself for. Their words will be tested as the two of them and a group of outcasts band together to take down the zombies.
I read this entire book picturing Spike from Buffy as Max. Some of the things he said/did/wore (leather duster—I mean hoodie lol), blond hair, blue eyes just made me think of Spike the entire time. Though this book is very Buffy-coded if you ask me. The supernatural elements and beings, a great evil that needs to be beaten, the not quite labeled Soooby gang and a group of potentials.

"Armed with a burrito, Edie rounded her car and sprinted to intercept the zombie."
I don't know what Max's problem is, I think Edie is incredibly efficient. A girl can work up quite the appetite after zombie killing cardio! And if it just so happens she can eat the weapon afterwards, magnifique!

( thankyou netgalley for the arc )
( publishing august 5th )
so the concept for this book was so good but this really wasn't for me .
it felt like the world building made no sense and I really struggled to picture what it is like for them in this book ( which is one of the reasons I love reading so much !!!)
the romance felt really meh and I didnt particularly click with any of the characters .
its started of so well but quickly went down hill , I flew thought the first hundred pages but when it got to the (war scences ) I literally was on the verge of falling asleep and there was definite ending .

Who doesn't love zombies, vampires, humans, witches and rom-coms? This book scratched the supernatural itch while still being a great rom-com. I am a summertime rom-com reader at heart and this was the perfect mesh of supernatural and romance. I am a little upset at the ending. I want more, now! This was a great 4 star read for me!

Edie tries to save her seemingly clueless neighbor from an attacking zombie when he unexpectedly comes to her rescue. She quickly learns that he’s much more powerful and interesting than initially expected and sparks start to smolder. Together, they attempt to save others in the community from the oncoming zombie attack.
This book has a fun vibe despite the zombie apocalypse premise. The characters are likable and often have redeeming and empathetic characteristics. The MCs are opposites in many ways, but complement each other well and made me laugh out loud a few times.
I wasn’t sure what to expect in a zombie romantic comedy, but this book delivered on the title. By the end of the book I was invested in the characters and their world. Luckily, the book leaves space for potential future developments, so we may see more from Edie and her community.
Thank you to NetGalley, Berkeley Publishing Group and the author for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It was both light hearted and gory - covering some deep topics like what would you do to survive and government corruption. The love story was very sweet between the FMC and MMC. It was both paranormal and contemporary. The spice was very well done. The world building/story line does drag a bit but really picks up near the end. I can’t wait to see more from this series! I was lucky enough to get an ARC from net galley and the publisher.

A quirky, slightly unhinged, laugh out loud, very spicy romance with vampires & zombies. Such an entertaining read that I hope there's a sequel based on the ending. Cannot wait! One of only a few 5-star reads so far this year. Read it now if you love romance & the supernatural.

Olivia Dade, what have you done to me?! This is my favorite book she's written. The characters are funny, complex, smart, and I just love them all. Edie and Max's relationship is *chef's kiss* incredible. I love the banter, the teasing, the humor. It's just all so freaking good!

Goodness where do I even start. This had Zombieland and Shaun of the dead vibes with a little more romance thrown in. We meet Edie who is living in a post apocalyptic world that also has vampires, witches, trolls, fae and of course zombies that want to kill every single one of those people.. so you know stuff goes a little crazy. To add, Edie is an online soap maker which is even better. We also meet Max who is a vampire and Edie’s neighbor who ends up saving Edie when she makes some questionable choices. We follow them as they try and save the world they live in from zombies and find most secrets and found family vibes. If you enjoy slap stick humor, found family, zombies, and something that will make you giggle the entire time I definitely recommend this one. There is spice for those who are sensitive to it.

I love Olivia Dade. I love just being dropped into the action. Both Edie and Chad/Max had me cracking up, and don't get me started on the Gaston songs. I'm not sure how to describe this book outside of the fact that I loved it. Edie and the map song will forever be a favorite scene!

I absolutely LOVED Edie, our main character in this story! She was so much fun, so real, and just silly and cute. I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure how the author would combine post apocalypse chaos and romance, but I thought it was done well. I think the world building around the story could have helped add to the story and make it feel a bit more atmospheric, but even without it, the story worked well. Great characters, lots of laughs, and you can never go wrong with zombies and vampires!

I am DNF'ing this book at 51%, I have tried to read it, but I have ended up falling asleep every time. The prose and the writing are just not something I have enjoyed. I am sure it's a great book for other people, it just isn't for me at this time. Not sure if I will come back to it. I don't want to rate it, because I don't believe we should rate books we DNF, however, I cannot submit a review without a star rating.

I didn’t know I needed a zombie apocalypse rom-com until I read Zomromcom, and now I want a whole series. This book is pure chaotic joy. It follows Edie Brandstrup, a fiercely brave woman who’s just trying to survive the first major zombie breach in decades—until she discovers her sweet, slightly awkward neighbor is a centuries-old vampire named Gaston “Max” Boucher (yes, Gaston, and yes, he has a sword).
What starts as a hilarious and action-packed survival story quickly turns into something deeper, with Edie and Max uncovering a conspiracy that could doom humanity. Their banter is sharp, the chemistry is sizzling, and the supporting cast of quirky allies is unforgettable. I laughed out loud more times than I can count (there’s a zombie fight involving a burrito), but I also found myself genuinely invested in the emotional stakes.
It’s romantic, ridiculous, and surprisingly heartfelt. If you love your love stories with a side of undead chaos and a lot of heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for a complimentary early release copy of Zomromcom by Olivia Dade.
I was initially intrigued to pick up Zomromcom since it is a book that focuses around a zombie apocalypse but I was also intrigued because the love interest Max is a vampire. That aspect alone is very unique element but I was pleasantly surprised to find out vampires and zombies aren’t the only supernatural creatures in this book! There are fae, witches, trolls, and many more. There are even special humans who have magic like abilities. These additions made the characters and story interesting, it was fun to learn about each supernatural creature!
I liked Edie and Max, I found their banter to be cute and amusing. The way they poke fun at each other like Edie making up funny songs or comparing Max to stereotypical vampire tropes were funny! My favorite parts have to be the songs, as someone who grew up on Disney I found the mention to be kind of nostalgic and couldn’t help but sing those little bits in the same kind of tone that Gaston’s song is in. Overall I was all for this romance I’m very happy with the direction that it had gone. Edie and Max are good together, the character growth they had gone through together was a good experience to read.
The romance is on the insta lovey side but I didn’t mind it, I liked the other neighbors/friendships but I would have really liked to see them be introduced a bit sooner. I went into this book thinking it was going to be more on the romance comedy side of things but the tone of the book switches equally between comedic, romantic, serious, tense, and suspenseful moments. I found Zomromcom to be a decent read though at a little more than the half way point I was struggling to stay interested and got into a bit of a reading slump. I liked Edie and Max but the book does spend a lot of time with just the two of them, I think if the neighbors/friendships were introduced sooner and we got to know those characters better it would have introduced a nice found family element. The neighbors don’t come in until the end, they are nice characters but more could have been done with them.
The ending of the book is decent though strangely I feel like it could have been a little longer. It feels a bit open ended and leaves me with questions on where things are going to go next. It looks like this is going to be a series, depending on what the next book is about I may or may not continue reading.

First I want to say a huge thank you to Berkley, Olivia Dade and NetGalley for the opportunity to read Zomromcom in advance.
I’m a new reader to Olivia Dade but I will be a forever reader of Olivia Dade after this book. I can’t name one thing that I didn’t like about it.
Sweet Edie with her too cute to boot personality, spunk and giant heart. If Edie was a real person I’d be her bestie with her processed foods, weaponized burritos and all. Her relationship with Vampire Max never gets tiring or overplayed, especially with their banter, oh how I lived for their banter. The spice is also 10/10! There’s a perfect mix of spice and a great storyline with the Zombie, life after the initial Zombie breach and the dangers happening. I love how the author built upon the story by introducing different types of supernatural beings gradually as things progressed instead of throwing a lot at you at first and overwhelming the reader.
If you’re new to supernatural elements this is a really great book to dip your toes into it. It’s not overwhelming, crazy violent or gross. I bet you end up wanting more!
I truly want a sequel, a prequel and a movie/tv series.
No….body…..does….it…..like……(forever in my head now).

Thank you to NetGalley and the author/publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was really excited for the premise of the book because it was so unique and the catchy title sold me. Zombie land is one of my favorite movies and thought for sure this would be a 10/10. Unfortunately as a romance it really misses the mark.
I think this book would have been better served with some world building. The story starts 2 years into the zombie apocalypse and nothing about the living arrangements and cities is really explained that well. There is really 0 storyline happening besides dialogue for almost the first 25% of the book.
I knew this would be campy and silly and I tried not to judge it too harshly but it really wasn’t super cohesive and it was hard to read. The FMC is absolutely insufferable and not in a cute or fun way. Just annoying and delusional.
This does not work as a romance at all. There is no tension or pining. The FMC and the MMC have 0 chemistry. And they get busy at 33%. If instalust is not for you then neither will this book be. There’s a cool storyline that happens at like 70% in but at that point I was kinda over it. The ending was fairly predictable and then it seems like the book just ends in the middle of a thought.
I’m very disappointed overall, 2 stars for some fun moments but not likely to recommend. If they removed the spice and the non believable romance it could have worked as like a funny team up duo type survivor story.

Zom Romcom - Supernatural Entanglements #1
by Olivia Dade
Edie lives inside a zombie containment zone in her childhood home. Her parents didn't survive the zombie outbreak 20 years prior. She has very few neighbors. She spends her time making soap and doing neighborhood patrols. She is late getting home one evening and happens upon a zombie that is about to attack her "bro" neighbor Chad. She doesn't have her usual weapons with her, so she attempts to fight the zombie off WITH A BURRITO. And truthfully, that's all you need to know about the "com" part of romcom. It's a pretty crazy, somewhat hilarious ride. 🤣 It turns out that Chad isn't really a "bro," or even Chad. His name is Max, and he's a vampire. Edie and Max team up with a few other supernatural beings and enhanced humans inside the containment zone and go to war with the zombies in one epic night. Of course, they fall in love along the way. I was really mad right at the end, but holy plot twist, everything ended well.
Side note: We need more Edie's in books! She's in her upper 30s, a bit chunky, and she loves processed foods and dad jokes. 😍
I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Olivia Dade, Berkley Publishing, and Net Galley for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️

Thank you for allowing me to read and review this ARC!
From the title and cover image alone, I was immediately interested in reading this book. It sounded super fun and included all of the tropes that I love reading. However, I wasn’t in love with the book or the characters.
Yes, it was funny at times, and a super easy read - but I just wasn’t in awe with it or the dialogue at times.
Again, I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC.
All the best to the author in the future <3

I loved parts of this. Edie was fun, I loved her personality. And Max was sweet and protective, but also funny. I loved their banter. I think their relationship really worked and I wish there were more Edie and Max moments. The story was interesting and I love a good supernatural story line, but I felt like the world building in the beginning was a little clunky. There seemed to be a whole lot going on with little explanation. And while I loved the jokes and funny bits, they started to induce more eye rolls than laughs by the end. With all that said, there were a lot of really awesome parts. I loved the found family aspect, the romance, and the characters really grew on me. Will I read a book 2? Absolutely!

Edie is facing a zombie attack for the second time in her 38 year life. She joins forces with her vampire neighbor Chad aka Max aka Gaston. They team up and wrangle up some others to fight off the next zombie apocalypse, all while exchanging sharp banter.
This was a delightfully funny romp of a story. I love Olivia Dade's style of writing and it shines in her first paranormal romance. I loved Edie's wit in the face of danger, and the adventure her and Max go on. I also loved all the quirky characters along the way. I can see where this won't be the book for everyone, but it absolutely was for me.
