I've heard great things about Olivia Dade books and this one did not disappoint! It was such a fun read! I was laughing throughout the book! The MMC's real name is Gaston?! The jokes that go with that throughout the book were so great. Highly recommend checking out this book!

I know that this is supposed to be mostly just a funny romance book but I wish there would have been just a bit more context and world building within the story! I also cringed so much over the dialogue throughout the story. BUT overall it was cute and at times did make me laugh. I feel like I would still give her books another chance.

๐™•๐™ค๐™ข๐™ง๐™ค๐™ข๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข follows neighbors, Edie and Max, as they traverse a world of rabid zombies while trying to save the people around them. I love the interesting take on how the zombies were created and how the different supernaturals came to light.

But yโ€™all I have NEVER laughed so much in my entire life while reading a book. Edie, our curvacious badass babe, tries to save Maxโ€™s life with a flippin burrito. A BURRITO! ๐Ÿ˜‚ like her entire personality is just ridiculous and I love her so much. Max was a damn grump and vain and so full of himself, but in the sexiest way. And his devotion to Edie was the sweetest.

You meet some super fun characters alone their journey as well. Each one brings more comedic relief to subset some of the heavier moments as this is still a zombie book full of death and some despair.

The banter was great, chemistry was through the roof, sexy times were ๐Ÿฅต, and the world building was just right. If youโ€™re looking for a quick read full of laughs, some tender moments, and zombie speaking French, ๐™•๐™ค๐™ข๐™ง๐™ค๐™ข๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข is perfect for you!

Okay this was so cute and it might be my favorite Dade novel yet!

Zomromcom is set in a post apocalyptic world...kind of. There's not much of world building, just that there are zombies and towns have been "zoned" and there's gates, bridges, and moats to keep zombies out. And the supernatural creatures of the world are out of hiding but are generally of the mind to get rid of the zombies. This being Olivia Dade's first foray into paranormal romance I can give her a pass on her world building, I didn't mind it with all the humor and banter going on.

Edie lost her parents in the first wave of zombie attacks. They protected her and sacrificed their lives so that she may live on. She's always felt that no one in her life has ever loved her as much as her parents have. Edie tries to save her bro dude neigbor Chad from imminent attack one day and turns out that he's actually a really old french vampire with bad fashion sense (imo) and a youtube channel. (See how silly this is??? lol). The zombies have somehow broken out of containment and the warning sirens are not going off. Edie thinks her responsibility to get word to the government and her fellow citizens that there's been a breach and Max (the vampire) can't let her go by herself.

Honestly this is one big laugh but there are just enough moments of vulnerability and discussion of traumatic pasts thrown in that you take it a bit more seriously. I honestly loved the banter and chemistry between Edie and Max and thought they were loads of fun. Every time he called her "Human" in that disdainful voice had me smirking. And the numerous versions of the "Gaston" song Edie comes up with are impressive, I do adore Beauty and the Beast! The adventure aspect was fun and exciting and at times a bit gory but I did enjoy it. I think I'd read about Edie and Max even if they just stayed in his lair the whole time, watching him be disgusted with her various canned food products!

Zomromcom was funny, spicy, and entertaining, I hope Dade continues to dabble in paranormal romance as I highly enjoyed it. Thank you so much to Berkley Publishing for gifting me this eARC via NetGalley!

This was an ambitious book for Olivia Dade in which she attempted to infuse two new genres (sci fi and thriller) in her typical romance book.

And by gods, it was great to read a "brain-off book" that wasn't problematic as hell.

The main characters? Grown adults who banter but arent just mean to people for no reason. The banter? Silly and cute and not at all something that would prompt you to run for the hills if a man said it irl. The representation? We have a fat heroine who is just being herself and enjoying life without everything being a pity party.

If you're looking for intricate worldbuilding, this is not it, but it is a fun, sexy romp through a world riddled with magical creatures, in which a soapmaker and her vampy influencer paramour are just trying to survive and get some privacy every once in a while without having too many mishaps in creative underwear designs.

The Gaston joke got a little old by the end, but overall I appreciated the heart that Olivia put into this book, and the ending has me curious if this might be a sequential series from a romance author rather than a series of interconnected standalones.

Zomromcom was my first read from Olivia Dade, even though I have been recommended her books so many times and already have several on my TBR. This story was silly and fun while also set in an expansive world filled with different kinds of creatures and mysteries. I loved the mix of quirky humor and the tragic backstories that gave the characters depth. The group dynamic was entertaining, and the blend of romance, steam, and zombie survival made for such an enjoyable read.

I am not positive what I was expecting from this book, but it wasnโ€™t exactly what I got. I wasnโ€™t expecting so much supernatural, but the world building was well done. I liked most of the humor (Iโ€™ll admit the Gaston songs were pretty amazing) and the romance was super predictable but fun. Iโ€™m curious what more will come from this series

This book turned out to be just ok in my opinion. I really hated all the snot wiping on people. It was disgusting, unnecessary, and kept pulling me out of the story.

The premise is really hard to believe. A woman who literally blunders through life has been able to survive for years near a zombie containment zone? And she just happens to become accodent prone when a vampire shows up to be able to save her? Hard eye roll.

The overall storyline is pretty bland, the smut is also pretty generic especially in terms of vampire smut. It reads like a book just trying to jump on a bandwagon and make a few bucks.

Rating: 4.5/5
I received an ARC for my honest opinion

When I saw that this book had zombies and romance, I jumped to read it and I am so happy that I did because this book was very, I never knew that I needed in a paranormal romance. In this book you will meet Edie and โ€œChadโ€ (Whosโ€™ real name is Gaston or Max). Edie thinks that her stoner, laid back neighbor is about to get attacked by zombies and runs to save the day. However, it didnโ€™t work out like Edie thought it would, instead she ended up needing to be saved by Chad/Max. See โ€œChadโ€ was never a laid-back guy; he was just hiding who he really was from the world. Until the day that the zombies get loose after two decades of no issues. Now the two of them work together to figure out what happened to cause the breach and do whatever they can to fix it.

This book was not boring at all, I loved it from the moment I read โ€œArmed with Burrito, Edie rounded her car and sprinted to intercept the zombieโ€. That sentence had me laughing so hard because it is something that I would have done, oh I donโ€™t have a tool right by me, but I have a burrito so letโ€™s go kill a zombie. This book had me laughing so hard, the banter between the characters, the thoughts running through Edie's head at times. I found the plot to have been different from other paranormal romances that I have read, it was fun, witty, well written and the pace of the book was perfect. However, once you have read this book you will understand that itโ€™s the characters that really steal this book away.

I loved Edie, she is a strong MFC, you can see that she has flaws and that itโ€™s what makes her more relatable with choices that she makes. You have Max, who is closed off and is just trying to survive and he has closed off his heart from the world, until you have Edie come into the picture. I loved their banter together; I was laughing so hard when I read the song that Edie picked to annoy Max with. I also liked the fact that when they decided to work together, you could see that their hardened shells started to soften and have more understanding and support for each other. All while they both help each other work through past traumas. I am happy that this book flowed so well to show us that love sometimes sneaks up on you even when you might not know it.

If you love absurd moments that will leave you laughing so hard, great characters, fun plot, a range of different creatures coming together for the greater good, a book that hits all the feels just right and is action packed you need to read this book.

I want to thank NetGalley and Berkley for the opportunity to review this book.

Olivia Dade always hits for me and her first paranormal, ZomRomCom definitely works. I loved the banter and the attraction between Edie and Max. The side characters are great and there is a good mix of time for Edie and Max to fall in love along with danger and adventure. Not to mention the humor. From Edie attacking a zombie with a burrito to the infamous Gaston song, this book will have you laughing and smiling even as zombies attack.

This was a fun rom-com featuring a grumpy/sunshine romance between a human and vampire.
We're thrown right into a world full of supernatural beings post zombie outbreak. It looks like this is the start of a series so in a way I can understand why so many were introduced but I kind of wish this book had just focused on vampires. I still liked the additional characters we met along the way though! I was just hoping for more world-building because I have so many questions.

I loved Edie, sheโ€™s caring and incredibly brave. I mean, the book starts with her attempting to save her neighbor from a zombie armed with nothing more than a burrito. It was hilarious. I also liked that sheโ€™s older and plus-sized since we really donโ€™t see that very often.
I adored Max. When you first meet him he comes off as a grump but heโ€™s really just a big teddy bear.

Edie and Max were cute together but the romance was a bit too instalove for me. It felt rushed so I wasnโ€™t too invested in them as a couple. The best part was their banter. Edie teasing him with Gaston songs had me laughing out loud!

Iโ€™m curious to find out what happens next. If you like paranormal rom-coms full of action, itโ€™s definitely worth picking this up.

Many thanks to Berkley for the ARC!

Edie Brandstrup had a trying day and just wanted to go home and eat her burrito. She lived alone in her parentsโ€™ house. They died twenty years before, during the zombie invasion. They got her to safety, but they couldnโ€™t save themselves. Edie stayed in the house because it reminded her of them, even though it was close to the zombie enclosure. However, after that invasion, there were layers of defenses between Edie and her neighbors and the zombies.

Not that there were many neighbors left. Although there is Chad, who lives next door. Edie is not a fan of Chad. She thinks heโ€™s not too bright, so when she sees a zombie heading for him while heโ€™s going inside his house, she attacks the zombie with the only weapon she had at hand, her burrito. But when he killed the zombie and yelled at her for trying to use a burrito as a weapon, calling her โ€œhuman,โ€ Edie thinks she may have underestimated Chad.

It turns out Chad wasnโ€™t Chad at all. He is really Max, a vampire who has not only saved her a couple of times before but he also has a huge lair under his house where he can stay until the zombie outbreak is taken care of. But there is a problem. Well, a couple of problems. First, he has no food for humans, just a refrigerator stocked with blood. And second, there is no alarm going off.

When the zombies were contained in the enclosure, there were alarms set up so that the residents who lived close would be notified if there was ever a breach, so they could get to safety. But there are zombies roaming the neighborhood, and no alarm. Edie tries to call the hotline, but when she finally gets through, she doesnโ€™t find anyone helpful and then the call is cut off. She feels like the only answer is to go out there and make their way to the enclosure, to find someone to sound the alarm and get some help.

Max refuses to let her go alone and makes plans for them to move through the area safely. But as they come up against challenge after challenge, they find themselves growing closer. The chemistry between them is sparking, and in between zombie battles, they find time to kiss and such. But will they be able to survive this second zombie invasion and find a way to be together, or will they lose their heads?

Zomromcom is a spicy rom com set in a world with zombies, vampires, witches, fae, and aliens. The romance is sweet and hot, and the fear of zombies is real. Author Olivia Dade is beloved for her romances, and while this is a bit of a departure, it does have her signature strong characters, witty dialogue, and solid love story. I thought this story was a lot of fun. Iโ€™m generally not a big fan of zombie stories (The Walking Dead traumatized me), but I enjoyed reading this book, and I thought Dade had a lot of fun with the supernatural elements. If youโ€™re looking for a modern, funny, adult vampire romance story, then this may be just the story youโ€™ve been waiting for.

Egalleys for Zomromcom were provided by Berkley through NetGalley, with many thanks, but the opinions are mine.

"Taco in a Can. 'The world's first and best nonperishable processed taco product,' it says here."
Freaking adored this book. I am not a zombie fan, because they scare me, but give me a zombie comedy with a bit of romance and boy howdy I'm here for it. I adored Edie and Max's relationship, they were so adorable with how much they banter and how some of their jokes last the length of the book. *cue Gaston*
When they encounter others they both kind of hope they are not recognized by their online personas. but alias they are and that was another favorite part for me.

The world building and zombie aspect was not too involved in this first installment of the Supernational Entanglements, but the ending left it open and I am excited for what is next.

some random quotes
"Pizzy Jerky? I can't even begin to.." He brought the plastic wrapper closer to read the slogan. "'The party never stops with Pizza Jerky' Dear Gods."

Dead Roommate: It's what for Dinner.

"You're an unenhanced human. You weren't wearing protective equipment. You had no nearby shelter. You were armed with a stuffed tortilla."

Vampires are pansexual. Thus, I am quite accomplished in the dick-sucking arts." He paused. "I do draw the line at bestiality, however. I want that made clear."

First of all, shoutout to the amazing name of our heroine: Eden Brandstrup.๐Ÿ‘ I have a daughter named Eden, so I felt an instant connectionโ€ฆ for about five secondsโ€”because thatโ€™s where the similarities end. My Eden hasnโ€™t (yet) tried to take down a zombie with a burrito. Edie, on the other hand, absolutely has.๐ŸŒฏ๐ŸงŸ

Thanks to a breach in the compound, Edie accidentally discovers her neighbor Gaston is a vampire๐Ÿง›โ€”because of course he is. The two are forced to work together to save as many people as they can. Gaston is not thrilled, but Edie is determined and refuses to back down. Along the way, they meet a delightful group of fellow survivors and uncover a conspiracy as they try to make their way through all the chaos.

This was such a fun and unexpected read. Youโ€™d think a story involving the undead, conspiracies, and the end of the world might feel heavy, but Dade somehow keeps the tone light and entertaining. Thereโ€™s action, humor, just enough gross moments, and yesโ€”some well-placed spice that made the slower scenes a bit more exciting.

If you like unlikely duos, forced proximity, and a dash of romance in your end-of-the-world fiction, Zomromcom delivers. It doesnโ€™t take itself too seriously, and thatโ€™s exactly what makes it work.๐Ÿง

Thank you to Olivia Dade and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this delightfully ridiculous gem. All thoughts and undead opinions are my own.

I have enjoyed Olivia Dades books however this one just did not hit the mark for me. I felt that it was a story I've seen and read before. I love the way Olivia spicy scenes they make me sweat. Perhaps it's the audio that just didn't work for me.

Suggest giving it a try.

I really wanted to like this one but unfortunately this book was not for me. I was looking forward to the female main character being a plus sized woman but I could not get on board with the romance as they had no chemistry and the conversations were just too odd. It seemed incredibly random to me that he was a vampire and if anything, there was magical creature racisms with there being other magical creatures but zombies being the bad guys. I felt like the reader was plopped into the story without much world building. I hope others like it better but I did not enjoy it

This was such a different book from Olivia Dade. I would literally read anything that she reads, so I was excited to read this. I liked the story and all of the mystical creatures that are in it. This book reads very much like the first in a series. I don't know if she is writing more in this series, but she definitely should. There is more stories to be told. I would recommend to people looking for a paranormal romance.

Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy.

My thoughts:
3.5โญ๏ธ

Iโ€™ve read a lot of paranormal books where the FMC is in her late-teens or early 20s and either diminutive or really fit. So, itโ€™s nice to find an FMC whoโ€™s both older than me and has a fuller figure. Edie Brandstrup is not the chosen one, and she doesnโ€™t have any magical powers. What she does have are a cleaver and a protective streak. When she rushes to protect her goofy neighbor Chad from a rampaging zombie while armed only with a burrito, she learns that he is anything but helpless. โ€œChadโ€ is an alias for Max Boucher, and heโ€™s actually a super-old, super-powerful vampire. At first, he seems really angry that a โ€œuseless humanโ€ came to his aid, but as Max and Edie are forced to work together to protect their neighbors, his true feelings become clear.

Thereโ€™s a lot of humor and banter between them, which I loved. Maxโ€™s first name is Gaston, so he chooses to go by his middle name for obvious reasons. Once Edie finds out, she makes a ton of Beauty and the Beast jokes and creates several different version of the โ€œGastonโ€ song. Although, I do wish their relationship was a slower burn. It seems like they went from begrudging allies to lovers really quickly. Though maybe fighting zombies and constantly fearing for your life accelerates the timeline, I donโ€™t know.

In this world, regular humans, Enhanced humans, and Supernaturals live together. Some supernatural powers are passed down through genetics, like vampirism, and some presumably can be created. Zombies, for instance, were created to fight werewolves, I believe. Iโ€™m a little confused about how this all works, and I wish there was a bit more world-building. However, this is the first book in a seriesโ€”I thought it was a standaloneโ€”so maybe weโ€™ll get more background in the future? I will be picking up the next book in the series whenever it comes out!

I will always support a fat main character that isnโ€™t self deprecating. Amen. That being said, the book was a bit silly at times. I would have liked to see more serious tones dispersed throughout to balance the authors humor. I also felt the world building was a bit lacking but Iโ€™m also someone who loves a lot of world building.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC!
