Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. 5/5!!!!!

Kate Alice Marshall does it again with this twisty, pulse-pounding novel about a group of eight contestants that are lured to an off-grid location by a billionaire to participate in a new reality show. Only, as the participants begin to trickle in do they realize something isn’t right: the gates close without warning and they are trapped inside, the set is empty, and then one of them turns up dead. Among the group is Mercy Gray; a hero for saving lives during a mall shooting, still carrying scars from that fitful day. Mercy must learn to trust her instincts to decide who to trust before it’s too late.

I REALLY LOVED THIS ONE! It read like a movie, short chapters ending on cliff-hangers, new twists around every corner… I truly never knew who to trust. The end was a huge twist and completely satisfying (big fan of mixed media, hello podcast bit)! All of the characters were rooted in reality and I couldn’t get enough of the mystery at work. The setting was haunting and added that extra layer of suspense!

First of all, a huge thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of We Won't All Survive.

Mercy not only survived a horrible shooting at the mall where she worked, but she managed to save others. But no matter how many people think she's a hero, she can't outrun the guilt that she didn't see the signs leading up to someone she knew carrying out this tragedy. She doesn't trust her instincts any more and with a desperate need to make things better, she sets off to join a mysterious survival reality show to win life changing money for herself and her family.

Once she and the other seven contestants arrive, Mercy instantly feels that something is off but not only does she not trust anyone else, she can't trust herself. And then someone is found dead and the reality show becomes all too real.

Who is responsible? Are they all in danger? Who will survive?

This story hooked me from the start and I couldn't finish it fast enough. With so many "suspects" I found myself constantly suspicious of everyone and on the look for breadcrumbs. Marshall brilliantly leaves a food breadcrumbs along the way - just enough where you pause and think to yourself, "Wait."

While I did guess the twist, it didn't take anything away from the suspense or story.

3.5 stars!!

I’ve really enjoyed some of Kate Alice Marshall’s previous books, so I was excited when I saw she had a new release!

I didn’t realize going in that this was YA, but it didn’t bother me & it still managed to hold my attention throughout. The story was solid and kept me engaged, but overall, it felt more like a standard thriller than something truly standout. That said, the ending was satisfying and wrapped things up well. While it didn’t completely “wow” me, it was still an enjoyable read!

Kate Alice Marshall is quickly becoming a new to me favorite author for a quick but suck me in read.
I loved the reality TV survival premise. I do feel like the challenges needed a bit better explanation to make it seem real.
Overall I'd rate this book as a 4 star.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC

We Won’t All Survive follows Mercy Gray, a mall shooting survivor still grappling with trauma, guilt, and medical debt two years later. When she's cast in a survivalist reality show set in a remote ghost town, Mercy sees it as a chance to reset—until the gates lock behind them, someone ends up dead, and the game turns deadly. As supplies dwindle and paranoia rises, Mercy must figure out who she can trust before she becomes the next target.

Kate Alice Marshall delivers another gripping thriller with a chilling, atmospheric setting—a desolate mountain town beside an abandoned mine that adds to the eerie tension. The plot is twisty and fast-paced, with a satisfying ending that ties Mercy’s emotional arc together beautifully. Mercy is a layered and compelling protagonist, and her trauma is handled with care and depth. The supporting cast, especially Althea and Harrison, add charm and complexity to the tense group dynamic. If you're into survival thrillers with murder, secrets, and emotional depth, this one’s a must-read. Perfect for fans of dark, twisty mysteries with heart.

Thanks to Penguin and NetGalley for the ARC!

Mercy and 7 others are spending several nights in an abandoned ghost town as part of a reality show masterminded by an internet celebrity. What could possibly go wrong?!?

This is YA, and it definitely reads that way, but the author kept the tension high as the group tries everything they can think of to escape or survive. There was a decent twist at the end, but a lot of the story and interactions between characters felt kind of cheesy. I preferred the author’s adult thrillers especially What Lies in the Woods and would recommend that instead.

In addition, I was unable to read this on my Kindle and instead had to read it on my phone, which was not a good experience for me.

An edgy & atmospheric young adult psychological thriller! “We All Won’t Survive” blended teen drama, dark secrets and suspense into an eerie tale of survival.

Having read three of Kate Alice Marshall’s books, I was underwhelmed by her newest publication. Sadly, I didn’t find it as stimulating as her former work. However, it most likely is due to the fact that I’ve read a handful, if not more, books with the same trope. The only difference between this book and others in the thriller genre, is that this was geared towards teens. That said, I do not think my review is a fair evaluation of this novel.

Despite this story not meeting my overall expectations, there were a few aspects I really liked. Above all, I liked the wide cast of characters. There was a leader, an outsider, a romantic, a survivor, and the missing. Each character pressed in a different way, and revealed who their true personas truly were. Even more, they each represented a piece of the group’s collective breakdown and emotional decay in the wilderness. And collectively brought dimension, conflict, and emotional resonance to the story.

My critiques were mainly in part to the uneven pacing and predictable twists. As a seasoned thriller reader, I felt the pacing slowed down in the middle of the book and the dialogue became repetitive. Had I not foreseen the plot twists well before the reveal, I’m pretty certain I would have found this story more stimulating. But again, having read so many thrillers, and ones with this common trope, I believe teens with less exposure to this genre and trope will find this a riveting read. I hope my review won’t discourage others to read this edgy and atmospheric thriller or other Kate Alice Marshall novels.

Thank you to Net Galley and Penguin Young Readers Group for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Interesting storyline but I didn’t like it as much as her other books I’ve read. It also reminded me a little too much of five survive by Holly Jackson

This is an ARC from NetGalley. This was my third book from this author, and I am coming to find that I am continuously disappointed in how her stories end. Again, this is one that has potential, but the end got messy and uninteresting. #netgalley #wewontallsurvive #trappedmystery #1by1

I’ve read other books by this author and really enjoyed them so I was happy to get to read this early- I requested a copy on author name alone! When I read the plot description, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the survival reality show premise (not usually my thing), but I am happy to report that I blew through this YA thriller and loved it! It was fast paced, held my attention throughout, and while I saw some twists coming, I definitely didn’t see all of them and rushed to get to the end. Very short plot summary: 8 young adults are selected for a survival reality show. But when they arrive on set, things don’t quite seem right…. Will definitely recommend this for a quick, fun read!

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book!

4.25 ⭐️ I loved the plot of this book! A bunch of teens who have survived tragic situations all come together for a survivalist TV show with a cash prize. There’s no way out, no way to contact the outside world, and the contestants start turning up dead.

I was really suspicious of everyone at one point, and the twists kept the story so engaging. I didn’t see the ending coming! This reminded me of and then there were none by Agatha Christie, which is the book that introduced me to murder mysteries!

Thank you Penguin Young Readers Group via NetGalley for the eARC!

This book ate and left no crumbs. We Won’t All Survive is like if The Hunger Games had a baby with One of Us Is Lying—and then that baby was raised on pure anxiety and adrenaline. Kate Alice Marshall does not play around; I was second-guessing everyone and everything the entire time. Mercy is the kind of messy, guilt-ridden heroine I love—scrappy, loyal, and totally traumatized, but still standing. The layers of trauma, manipulation, and survival are just chef’s kiss, and the pacing?? Unhinged in the best way. I had to keep putting it down to breathe, then immediately picked it back up because I had to know who was going to die next. If you like your thrillers twisty, emotional, and full of morally gray chaos, this one’s going to ruin you in the best possible way.

Kate Marshall is the absolute queen of YA thrillers, I will die on this hill. Her writing is truly atmospheric and I truly could not put this book down until I knew what happened.

Two years after surviving a mall shooting, Mercy Gray is still haunted; physically, emotionally, and financially. When a flashy billionaire offers her a spot on a survival reality show with a huge cash prize, she’s desperate enough to say yes. But once the contestants arrive, things spiral fast: no crew, locked gates, and then...dead bodies. What was supposed to be reality TV becomes a terrifying fight to stay alive. It’s tense, twisty, and keeps you guessing who (or what) is behind it all.

"We Won't All Survive" has a very fun setting. It is a camp out in the middle of nowhere during summer. It gives major slasher vibes. The pacing is great, it doesn't take long for the action and the killing to start.

Not only is this a fun summer slasher but Kate manages to weave a past traumatic event that happens to the main character into the present conflict and she does it very well. Sadly I knew who the killer was very early on and was surprised the author made it so obvious because I've read many of the authors books and she is usually very good at plot twists. I will say though that there was a plot twist at the end that gave more meaning to the story and really tied it together as a whole.

Overall this was a fun summer read and I'd recommend it to all. "We Won't All Survive" is set to release on July 25th 2025.

Stayed up past my bed time to finish this book since I just had to know how it ended. Perfect for any thriller lover.

This was my first foray into Marshall's YA work and what a treat it was. When a group of 18-20 year olds agree to star on a survivalist style reality show, they have no idea what is in store for them. With each individual impacted by trauma at one point in their life, they are prepared to deal with the worst, but when one of their own winds up dead, they must start to question each other.

Mercy was a fun protagonist as she was written with both strength and fear in equal measure. Experiencing the survival story through her eyes and with her inner monologue was interesting and telling if you are paying close enough attention.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced digital copy.
