This was a fast paced, reality show gone wrong, locked room thriller. The tension was palpable and I didn't want to stop listening to it. I finished it in one sitting.

Thank you for sending me this ARC! If I’m being honest, I prefer Kate Alice Marshall’s adult novels, but this will be a perfect addition to my school library! There were some great twists and turns, and I was thoroughly entertained and engaged throughout the book!

This was a journey and a half. This author has signature of opening with a heavy dose of mystery and suspense with very few pieces of the puzzle.

I fear this was a miss for me in the resolution and depth. I get this is YA and that as teens they don’t have the emotional or experiential depth of an adult but they still have depth beyond the surface and I would have liked to see more of that.

We Won’t All Survive by Kate Alice Marshall is a wild ride! Dropped in July 2025, this YA thriller hooked me with its creepy reality-show-gone-wrong vibe. Mercy Gray, an 18-year-old still reeling from a mall shooting, joins a survivalist competition for a big cash prize to help her sister. But when she gets to this eerie ghost town, things go south fast—locked gates, no crew, and then, bam, someone’s dead. Is it an accident or a murder? The suspense had me flipping pages like crazy.

Mercy’s tough but real, dealing with her trauma while trying to figure out who to trust among the eight contestants. The cast is solid, especially Harrison, this true-crime nerd who’s super likable. The deserted mining town setting is straight-up unsettling, and Marshall nails the paranoia. There’s some deep stuff about trauma and how media exploits it, which hit hard. A few bits in the middle dragged with survival tasks, and some backstories felt a tad forced, but the twists kept coming, and the ending? Chef’s kiss.

If you’re into psychological thrillers like I know you are, this one’s a must. It’s got that Karen McManus energy with a darker edge. Four stars, easy—grab it if you want a thrilling, slightly messed-up read. Heads-up for heavy themes like violence and PTSD, though.

Thank you so much PRHA and Viking books for the e & audio copies.
This is a story about survivors.
I've enjoyed most of this authors work so I was super excited to read this one, and it was a perfect quick thriller to read in a weekend. The protagonist is compelling and the supporting cast is interesting enough that you don't want them to die- which is a definite bonus. Plus, there were twists on twists which is always desirable in a thriller!

Several young adults believe they are playing a survivor game for the chance to win money. But, when some of the group die during the game, the team realize that the game is more deadly than they thought.
This is a YA novel with some creepy vibes. A look at who you can trust, and what you will do for those you love. Several tense moments helped with the suspense of the novel. The creepy tunnels and bad vibes of some of the characters contributed to the creepiness of the novel.

I ate this book up! I love a story where a bunch of strangers are thrown together in a deserted location for a reality TV show and things quickly become dangerous. I was hooked from the very beginning! Our main character was so compelling. Mercy's survivor guilt made feel for her and her past trauma just upped the stakes of what was happening to her in the book. The stakes were high and the plot never lagged. I was riveted the whole way through between the plot's twists and turns and the book's thoughtful exploration of what it means to be a survivor (and does it inherently come at the expense of someone else's well-being). I adored this book! I will definitely be reading more from this author because their writing had me hooked.

Reading in Between the Wines book review #85/125 for 2025:
Rating: 3🍷🍷🍷
Book: We Won’t All Survive
Author: Kate Alice Marshall
AVAILABLE NOW!!

Sipping thoughts: I liked the plot. I was a little confused at first but really enjoyed the flashbacks and connections. I wish there was a little more suspense because I think it was easy to figure out who the suspect was. But I didn’t know why they were doing it.

Cheers and thank you to @Netgalley and @PenguinGroup for an advanced copy of @WeWontAllSurvive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ - 4.5!

This one was dark, tense, and full of twists, I couldn’t put this one down! I loved how layered the characters were, each one had secrets that made the mystery even more interesting! The atmosphere and vibes were gripping, and the mix of mystery and emotion made it stand out even more! It could be a little intense at times, but overall such a strong and un-putdownable thriller🔪

This is the second book I’ve read of Kate’s and won’t be the last. This is one of those unputdownable books that can be devoured in a weekend. I am a sucker for the type of tension created in the book from very early on and the immediate suspicion created between all the characters. The protagonist Mercy is one that you’ll want to root for. I’d recommend this book for anyone that enjoys a survival based psychological thriller.

We Won’t All Survive by Kate Alice Marshall was a great read! If you like reality TV gone wrong, survival story, murder mystery, fast paced thrillers, YA, and multiple POV’s, then you will love this book.

This the second book by Marshall that I’ve read. I read What Lies In the Woods and loved it so I was pretty excited to read this book!! I thought Marshall did a great job with the book and the story line was engaging. This was a fast paced read and one that I did not want to put down. The characters were written well, they all had a traumatic past and a story to tell. The minute the doors locked bad things just started happening. It wasn’t just about surviving the game but also each other because one of them was a killer…but who? This book was as if Survivor and Escape Room had a baby. They all came with their own secrets, there was a murderer among them, they all had to work together to survive. All because a bored billionaire with a cult following wanted to put people through challenges to get real life fear and emotions on cameras to show to the work. Thank you to the Penguin Group and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

I really wanted to love this one, and while it had some strong moments, it didn’t fully land for me. The premise was dark and tense, and the author does a great job building suspense and creating a sense of impending doom. I appreciated the psychological depth and the way the story explored trauma and survival, but some character motivations felt inconsistent, which pulled me out of the tension at times. The pacing was uneven—intense in bursts, then slow to the point of feeling stretched.

Fans of dark thrillers with complex protagonists and morally gray situations will find things to enjoy here. It’s gripping in parts, but it didn’t quite reach the full potential I was hoping for.

I really wanted to enjoy this but I felt like it was too YA for my taste. I love Kate Alice Marshall as an author and was hoping it wouldn't lean too far YA but that wasn't the case for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆

We Won’t All Survive is a fast-paced thriller with an intriguing setup and a strong sense of tension throughout. The premise—friends trapped in a dangerous situation where survival isn’t guaranteed—definitely hooked me from the start. Marshall’s writing is easy to follow, and the suspense kept me turning the pages.

That said, the story didn’t quite live up to its potential for me. Some of the characters felt underdeveloped, and I had a hard time really connecting with them or caring deeply about their choices. A few of the twists were predictable, while others felt a little rushed. By the end, I was left wishing for more depth and emotional impact to match the intensity of the plot.

Overall, it’s a solid read if you enjoy YA thrillers with high stakes and don’t mind a bit of predictability. It’s entertaining but not particularly memorable, which is why it landed at three stars for me.

This is the second book I've read by this author and I think it'll be the last. The premises always seem interesting, but the books are boring and I don't care about the characters or the mystery. Everything is just so bland. Maybe if you've liked this authors other books, you'll like this one.

*We Won’t All Survive* is a tense and twisty YA thriller that kept me engaged from the start. The mix of a creepy ghost-town setting with the reality show competition made for a unique backdrop, and I liked how the book dug into each character’s trauma while still delivering plenty of suspense. Mercy was a strong, likeable main character, and I found myself rooting for her throughout. I enjoyed the plot and setting- a solid 4 stars from me!

This was such a bingeworthy thriller. I stayed up way too late finishing it! This one had it all - murder mystery, locked in characters, and survival. It definitely kept me guessing till the end. There were quite a few characters to keep track of, but that didn’t impact the flow of the story. Overall, I really enjoyed this thriller and will be picking up more of Kate Alice Marshall’s books!

Truly a solid thriller!
This was my first from this author, and one of the first YA thrillers I've dived into.

I will definitely keep this author on my radar!

I have liked every Kate Alice Marshall book I have read so far and her new YA book is no exception.

This locked room style mystery is a story of survival. Eight young adults are stranded off the grid in what they believe to be a reality show, with the chance to win a life changing amount of money. They are all suspicious from day one after they received no information about how the game is played. One by one people start dying, and each of them is suspicious that the person next to them is the killer. I mean, they don’t even know each other.

We All Won’t Survive had me guessing the whole time. I figured out one twist early on, but I was not convinced I was right.
