A big thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. Although I have never read this author before, I’m definitely a fan now. This was the perfect mix of survival and mystery thriller. I liked the characters and was immediately hooked from the first chapter.
I had a bad feeling about one character all throughout, and my suspicious were confirmed at the end. I liked the ending and the explanation of what was actually occurring. I can’t wait to read more from this author and would definitely recommend everyone read this book when it is released!

Solid YA thriller. 3.5 stars. For some reason I just wasn’t invested in the story or characters. It started off kind of slow but picked up quickly, I flew through the last half of the book.

Thi started out interesting, but then the pacing lagged in the middle, and I found myself frequently getting frustrated. Mercy's entire personality was "I can't trust anyone because of Ryan" and yet she dithered about basically trusting everyone, and it was pretty painfully obvious that something was off about Milo. Then there was that out of nowhere scene detailing Eli's backstory, which had absolutely no relevance to anything other than, I guess, to drive home the point that we must remind a deeply traumatized white teenager how privileged she is?
The other characters pretty much just felt like cliches, though I will admit to liking Harrison and Alethea. The evil doomsday billionaire villain felt pretty cartoonish, having two melodramatic villains in Landry's Gap, and also giving Jamie and Mercy EACH their own extra psycho stalker was too over the top for me.
That said, the epilogue was cute.

Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!
Unfortunately, I don’t tend to have luck with this author. I wanted to try this one since I have not tried her YA books before. I was not a huge fan though.
I just don’t like the authors writing style and it is not for me. I found myself wanting more action and excitement. I was just bored for most of the story. I also was not a big fan of any of the characters.
I hope others have better luck with this one and love it.

I was really excited to read this book but I’m not able to get it on my kindle. I hope that changes soon.

Kate Alice Marshall does it again!! Holy crap this book was so good!! We Won't All Survive was the perfect combination of survival, murder, and more questions than answers. A group of young adults ends up trapped in a desert ghost town, thinking they are participating in a reality TV show. Each contestant is weighed down by their own traumas, and you can never really tell who you can trust. Loved this book so much, it was fast-paced, and once I started, I did not want to put it down for anything.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers group for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

✨4.5 stars rounded down✨
I really enjoyed reading We Won’t All Survive. I loved the premise of this book. A survival competition in a deserted town and the contestants are just trying to survive. Everyone had some kind of previous trauma and a reason for being there. It was hard to know who you could trust and nothing went how the contestants expected. It was creepy, twisty, and entertaining. I really liked it and didn’t want to put it down.
I was given an advanced copy of this book. All opinions expressed above are my own.

As long K.A.M. keeps writing books, I will keep devoting them.
Thank you to netgalley for the eARC provided in exchange for my honest review.

We Won’t All Survive is an electrifying mix of survival thriller and murder mystery, keeping you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It’s fast-paced, intriguing, and never quite lets you breathe easy as it throws twist after twist your way.
Mercy Gray is a fantastic protagonist—tough, flawed, and deeply human. Her trauma from the mall shooting, paired with her desire to give her sister a better future, makes her motivations feel authentic and relatable. The reality show setting adds a thrilling, almost claustrophobic atmosphere, especially once the contestants realize they’re not just competing for a cash prize but fighting to survive.
The suspense is palpable, and the body count rises quickly, creating a sense of urgency that really propels the story forward. My one critique is that some of the character development takes a backseat to the action, which left a few of the side characters feeling a little thin. Still, the central mystery is compelling, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
If you love a good survival story with a dash of paranoia, We Won’t All Survive is a solid pick. It’s dark, tense, and will keep you guessing until the very end.

We Won’t All Survive offers a tense, character-driven thriller that delves into themes of trauma, trust, and resilience. While some readers may find certain plot elements familiar, the novel's strength lies in its emotional depth and the psychological complexity of its characters.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC. This is kind of my favorite sub-theme of locked room mysteries- reality show gone wrong in a remote location. So as such, I had high hopes, and am happy to report that it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the pace and had a hard time putting it down. Devoured is the right word.

I have really enjoyed Marshall's previous books, and I really liked this one too. I will say it felt a little more YA than her other works but don't let that deter you. It still offered mystery/suspense. It was a quick read for me.

Ok, I really enjoyed this book. A group of young people who survived traumatic events are invited to a survival-type game show and everything starts going wrong. I have read other Kate Alice Marshall books (What Lies in the Woods and A Killing Cold) and this one felt more YA.
I loved the survival, dystopian aspect and enjoyed most of the characters. This book kept me confused and guessing until the end. I also think Marshall did a good job of representing how trauma can impact every day life after a life changing event.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers Group for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Kate Alice Marshall is an auto buy author for me, and I love her YA books as well! She has such an atmospheric way of writing, and that was no exception with this one. I loved the concept of the competition in an abandoned town -- it really played up the "who do I trust" trope often found in these books. Great from start to finish! I will definitely add this to my classroom shelves.

After saving multiple lives in a Mall shooting, hometown hero Mercy Gray just wants to give back what she took from her sister. Selected as a contestant for a TV game show of survival, Mercy is dead set to make it to the end and win the cash prize in hopes to give Jamie the life she deserves.
After making it to the set and meeting the contestants they all soon start to realized that something is very off. No staff are there to greet them. No camera crew in site. Not even the Host Damien Dare. And then....the alarm goes off and the gates roll to lock shut with no way out.
This novel is as if Mr. Beast went mad and tried to take on the host of survivor. I ATE THIS UP!!! Even with a bit of a predictable ending in my opinion this book was so well done. I was immersed in ever challenge, ever cross road, and ever back story. Specifically the character development was just impeccable, I truly couldn't put this book down.
I'm very excited to see what else Kate Alice Marshall has up her sleeve.
Thank you NetGalley, Kate Alice Marshall and Viking for this ARC release in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel.
This story follows Mercy as she goes to a remote location to participate in a survival game sponsored by an eccentric billionaire to win $100K. Upon arrival, her Spidey senses start tingling. Something isn't right on the deserted set. Mercy and all the contestants have been traumatized by something in the past, and each has things to work through as they start the challenges.
Soon, a player is dead, and everyone is on edge. Was it an accident, or is one of the players a murderer?
This is a fast-paced and well-written YA suspense/adventure novel. The story kept me reading and interested. My only criticism is that the ending felt rushed.

2 years ago Mercy Gray was in a mall shooting. She was deemed a hero for saving multiple people and taking a bullet in the back in the process. Mercy needs money to send her little sister, Jamie, to college. To do some she's accepted a spot on a new survival reality game show in a deserted ghost town rigged for the game. When Mercy arrives she doesn't want to trust the other contestants but they're going to have to band together when they get locked in the ghost town with no one around and limited supplies. But is one of them not who they say they are?
I am such a sucker for reality game shows turned horror/thriller. This was such a fun read and reminded me of a less supernatural Hide by Kiersten White or The Island by Natalie Preston.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for the ARC!

First things first, thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for this book in exchange for my review - all opinions are my own
this book took me on a wild ride. I do love K Alice Marshall’s writing, and this just proved that I would continue to read her books in the future. I was a little bit, taking it back with the fact that it was a young adult novel, but it didn’t exactly like that other than the main character I enjoy the ride and the twist and turn

This was a wild story. I audibly gasped through so many parts of this. This story sunk its teeth in me, and I couldn't put it down until I finished. I feel like it's been a minute when I got so lost in a book I stayed up until 2 am reading.
It starts off with 8 young adults competing on a survivalist tv show to win a cash prize. They are left in an abandoned town cut off from civilization, and from the moment they arrive, things seem amiss. One of the contestants is unalived, and from there, the story spirals downhill.
These contests were picked purposefully. They all experienced a traumatic event, and the host of the show, Damien Dare, thought they would be the best example for his sick mind game. Tensions were high, but eventually, the contestants bonded together and used their trauma as a weapon to get through the "game" and survive. I was a ball of anxiety reading this and sitting on the edge of my seat to find out who the killer was. I honestly didn't see it coming, and my jaw was on the floor. The pacing of this was just right, I feel like it was fast enough to keep me entertained but not too fast to where I was missing key things. I really enjoyed this thriller and feel like it's the best I've read in a minute.

We Won’t All Survive is a heart-pounding thriller that blends survivalist tension with a gripping murder mystery. Mercy Gray, a young woman scarred both physically and emotionally by a past trauma, is thrust into the high-stakes world of a reality TV survival competition. What starts as a chance to win life-changing money quickly devolves into a deadly game as contestants are trapped in an off-grid location, and one by one, they start turning up dead.
Marshall expertly builds suspense, drawing readers into a tense, isolated setting where trust is scarce, and the stakes are life or death. Mercy’s inner turmoil, tied to her traumatic past, adds depth to the narrative, making her a relatable and compelling protagonist. The mix of survivalist elements and psychological tension keeps the plot moving at a fast pace, while the eerie atmosphere of the show’s setting adds to the growing unease.
While the book features some familiar tropes, the unpredictable twists and the countdown of each contestant’s survival keep things fresh and exciting. Fans of survival thrillers with a dark twist will enjoy this high-stakes story, and the slow burn toward the shocking conclusion will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page.
