Okay look this was a fun and crazy ride! I actually really enjoyed the roller coaster! A group of teens with secrets, a looming sense of doom, and enough trust issues to fund a therapist’s retirement. I am not kidding you go it all in this one! We Won’t All Survive delivers drama, dread, teenager angst, and disaster—and that’s before the bodies drop. It reminds me some of I Think I Know What You Did Last Summer but with much more moral ambiguity, weird connections and escape room vibes. No one’s okay, and frankly, they probably shouldn’t be.

A fun ride. I think a YA audiene would really like this book. The idea of the reality show was exciting. Kate Alice Marshall's writing style is always fun to read.

Marshall is talented when it come to character development in her stories and We Won't All Survive is no exception. Crafting a diverse cast of contestants, each with their own traumatic pasts and motivations kept this book flowing for me from start to end. The connection between the characters' personal histories and their escalating danger helped to add depth to the narrative, making each twist and turn more impactful and surprising. The survivalist reality show theme created an atmosphere that heightened the stakes and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen around the next page.

Some readers may predict certain plot developments (I try not to figure out the "who did it", I just enjoy the read), the plot's strength lies in its emotional resonance and the unraveling of complex relationships under pressure. The pacing was quick, ensuring that the tension remains high throughout. The conclusion delivered a satisfying revelation, piecing it all together in a way that felt both surprising and earned.

I love reality shows so this was a must read! Very enjoyable with lots of action. It was a little far fetched in some places but it was a fun ride!

I liked the reality show element with the various challenges the characters had to complete. It was over the top but in a fun way. I did think the reveal was predictable but I still had a fun time reading.

This is my third book by Kate Alice Marshall and slowly they’re becoming an auto-read author! I love the reality show trope in thriller/horror books and that (paired with the author) immediately drew me in. No spoilers but I really enjoyed the twists and I wasn’t able to fully predict them so that’s a miracle in itself! I can’t wait to listen to the audiobook when it comes out!

Spoilers below!
The synopsis gave me Hunger Games vibes, not in a dystopian way which was intriguing. This book kept me on my toes and I genuinely wanted to keep reading to see what would happen to these kids, how they'd get out, who might die next!

From the start, the author opens up with a warning that this as a story about toxic masculinity and the burden of men’s emotions. That theme was not overtly present throughout but it stayed in the back of my mind as I read. Looking back, it worked so well that it was subtly present which is how toxic masculinity often works.

As for characters and theories, I wasn’t immediately suspicious of Milo but I did get hinky vibes from him. It wasn’t until his first mention of Rancom that I realized that we had to pay attention to him (how did he know where she was from when she only said that she was from the Bay Area?). When we get the receal, I was certainly shocked at the extent to which he knew things about Mercy (like it’s creepy).

I found the epilogue to sweet! loved that Harrison referred to the others as his three closest friends. The little hint that he and Mercy end up together was cute, though I would’ve been happier if they stayed just friends. Overall, I enjoyed this. The pacing worked, the stakes felt real, and I wanted to keep going to see how it all played out!

This book!!!!!! I love reality shows and this just puts the icing on the cake. Reality series meets murder mystery. It's a thriller and you never know who's next. It's survival of the fittest.

Survivor’s Guilt follows Mercy Gray, a hero from a mall shooting, as she competes on a survivalist reality show with a huge cash prize at stake. But when the contestants are trapped on the off-grid set and one by one begin to die, Mercy must uncover the deadly truth behind the show before she becomes the next victim.

When Mercy Gray signs up to do a survivalist reality tv show, she has no idea what is in store for her.

Several teens/young adults are chosen (based on their own unique life experiences) to meet at a secluded location to compete to win $100,000.00

Once they arrive, they realize almost immediately that something is off about this situation.

This story is a page turning adventure full of great characters. I spent many nights awake way past my bedtime following along with their adventure and anxious to see how they survive.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This fast-paced, locked-room-esque thrill ride was just the book I needed right now.

Eight contestants are selected to compete on a reality survival show for a life-changing cash prize. As they make their way to the site, several things seem to be off. The contestants trudge forward despite their sense of foreboding, but are quickly faced with deep fear and regret.

I enjoyed the twists and whodunit feel that resonated throughout. Perfectly paced, the characters are endearing while also seemingly suspicious. This perfect recipe for a great thriller captivated me until the end where it fizzled in believability. Nonetheless, this was a great read that kept me hooked until the very end.

With a release date of July 29, 2025, this is the perfect beach read. I’m excited to read more by this author.

Thank you NetGalley, PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group | Vliking Books for Young Readers and the author, Kate Alice Marshall, for providing me with an advanced digital copy.

Thanks to Net Galley and Viking Books for Young Readers for the advanced copy of this book! Grade level is indicated to be 9-12, yet I find many books written for this age range to be interesting for adults. I read it over a two-day period and did not figure out who committed the crimes and murders. To me, a mystery is more enjoyable if the reader can't discover who the culprit is during the course of the book.

Eight teens/young adults were chosen to appear on a potential new reality show called "Who Survives?" The show was created by wealthy Damien Dare. Contestants spend six weeks in an abandoned town, with the one remaining earning $100,000.

Mercy is introduced first, and readers learn why she needs the $100,000. Then, Harrison, Milo, Piper, Alethea, Eli, Spencer, and Colby gather at the town. No one else is to be found, but an announcement tells them that anyone who is not inside the gate will be out of the game. When the gates close, they realize that there is no way to open them,

The first night, one of the contestants is killed. No one is safe. No one knows who is involved. All of the players have trauma in their pasts.

There are reminders of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None," but "We Won't All Survive" goes in various directions. Just when the reader thinks one person is the culprit, something happens to lead them elsewhere.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a good mystery!

I love Kate Alice Marshall! She is such a talented thriller author, so I immediately requested an ARC of this book, not realizing that it is a YA novel. I also happen to be a high school English teacher, and my students are constantly asking me for book recommendations - so this worked out perfectly! This novel is fast-paced and twisty, and I love the reality TV element. Although I wouldn’t recommend this book to my fellow adult readers, I will definitely recommend it to my students. I love when I discover books that I know will keep them reading!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC! I really struggled to get into this book. At times it felt cheesy and a little boring. It didn’t feel suspenseful and I wasn’t ever excited about what was in the next chapter. The ending was good but it didn’t have this big ending or l twist at the end like most thrillers do. Overall, I was underwhelmed by the book. I really had high expectations for Kate Alice Marshall since I loved her other books but this one just fell flat for me.

Very twisty, quick read - loved the play on reality TV! This one will stay with me.... loved the twists and I kept feeling like I knew what was going on, until I realized I was completely off.

I was so excited to read this book but unfortunately the print in the NetGalley reader was so small I could barely see it. I tried multiple times to start the book but the reader kept glitching and losing my place and the too small print unfortunately I had to DNF it. I’m sorry! Thank you to NetGalley for this digital ARC

We Won't All Survive follows eight individuals who have all endured some form of trauma. These individuals were invited to a survival television show at an abandoned mining town. However as soon as they arrive they soon discover something is very wrong, and the bodies begin to pile up. Who will survive? Who will meet an untimely end? I was hooked and will defiently be reading this again. I enjoyed trying to guess who was the mastermind. Side note- FOLLOW YOUR GUT!

3.5/5 rounded up

We Won’t All Survive, a survival reality tv show goes wrong in an abandoned old mining town. Mercy has already survived a mall shooting. Now along with 7 others, Mercy must survive Landry’s Gap and figure out who she can trust.

This is my first time reading a YA thriller from Kate Alice Marshall and it did not disappoint. I thought the pacing was good, it was suspenseful and kept me guessing. I also really enjoyed the characters we got to know.

My only complaints are that I found the final reveal somewhat unbelievable and the format of the E-Arc. Having to read this on my phone through the app was rough, the font was tiny and there were no options to adjust.

Overall this was a fun thriller and I’m excited to get my hands on other books by Kate Alice Marshall.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers Group for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

This YA thriller is pretty intense! After surviving a mass shooting, Mercy Gray is one of the people invited to be a contestant on a reality show. But when they arrive at the destination, they're locked in, they don't have enough supplies, there's no one in charge, and people are dying. It was suspenseful finding out what was going on and who was behind everything. Not everyone was who they seemed to be; even Mercy didn't feel like she was the hero she was portrayed as.
