I was hoping to have a lot of fun with this story, as I worked at a small amusement park when I was a teenager as welll. This did not work for me, unfortunately.
It is marketed as middle-grade, but I don't know why they made the characters 15/16 instead of 12/13, since they did not act like they were older than 12/13. The way the adults are written as not realistic, and the dialogue was cringey a lot of the time for every character. I do think this could have worked better if they aged the characters down to 12/13, which is how they were acting/speaking/behaving anyway. The plot points were not all that interesting, so as the story went on, I was losing interest fast.
I wanted to like this, but I need to be honest and a three star rating wouldn't be honest.

thank you NetGalley and team for this arc! fast-paced, romantic & easy read! it was like reading a middle school / highschool romance!

This was a really cute story and I loved that it was set at an amusement park, a setting you don't normally see in romance books but it made "Meet Me at Wonderland" even more fun to read. 🙂
One thing that I could totally relate to in the story was Coco's awkwardness when she was around Henry, who was her first crush as I have personally experienced some of that first crush awkwardness even though I was quite a bit older than Coco and Henry as my first crush didn't come until I was 22.
My favorite scenes from Meet Me at Wonderland were the one with the stuffed Axolotls and the scavenger hunt scene. I also loved that Henry made a playlist for her, that was really sweet of him. 🥰
While Meet Me at Wonderland is marketed as a middle grade rom-com, it's a perfect book for anyone of any age who loves a sweet and funny romance read. 🩷

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...
This is a really fun Young Adult story, that is written brilliantly for teenagers, but can be truly enjoyed by middle grade and adults as well...
Coco and Henry have quite the accidental meet cute... And while they start off their acquaintance based on misunderstandings, as they open themselves up to learning more, and being more accepting and understanding, they find a camaraderie, and eventually a friendship and relationship where they are able to uplift and support each other.
Their journey through this developing relationship is filled with misunderstandings, and miscommunications, and fun, and growth, and this all makes for a really great read...
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley, Alladin, and Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Thank you to #NetGalley, Julia DeVillers, and the publisher of the book for the eARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Coco is Morty the Moose for the summer, the official mascot for her family’s business, Wonderland Adventure Park. On her very first shift in the claustrophobic and stinky moose costume comes on the hottest day. She comes out a sweaty mess just as her manager introduces her to the new hire, Henry. He's super cute too!
Henry can’t believe his parents are forcing him to work this summer, let alone at an amusement park. He’d much rather be hanging with his friends and playing soccer. Due to an injury though, he is not able to play. To make matters worse, he is also deathly afraid of heights.
After their first awkward meeting, Coco and Henry start to become friends and Coco tells Henry that the park is struggling. She also begins to have feelings for him. As the summer go on, Henry’s dad starts asking odd questions about his job, and Henry starts to think his dad is setting him up. When a malfunctioning new ride leaves Henry and Coco stranded at the top, Henry’s worst nightmare comes true and secrets get revealed.
A fun YA read! I read this book so quickly and laughed out loud! I loved both of Henry and Coco's characters. It's the perfect summer read!

Thank you so much for the ARC. This was a very quick read and cute story. I finished it in two hours and I thought the premise was promising. I loved the amusement park setting. But the book is let down by the writing. My biggest issue is that I found the dialogue and prose a little unlikely for 14 year olds and very cringey. It was also very clunky and simply unpleasant at times. Overall, I’d recommend the book to 12-14 year olds as I think it’s still a fun and easy read.

This was cute middle grade romance! It reminded me a lot of my summers spent working at the local amusement park! I was always crushing on somebody and being the mascot was always the worst assignment!
This is a fun, lighthearted book. There are mentions of cancer and other family issues, but overall the book is light and cute. I will say at times, the dialogue didn’t feel like something a 2025 middle grader would say. For example, Coco makes a reference to M. Night Shyamalan. So I asked and several of my Gen Z coworkers were not familiar with who he was.
Overall, this is a fun, quick read! Perfect for Summer. I think middle grade readers will enjoy this cute book.

I so enjoyed the romance between Coco and Henry as their lives started to intertwine at Wonderland Amusement Park- or AMoosement Park! Definitely had some twist and turns to keep the reader locked in. Perfect romance for middle school- containing an appropriate amount of romance and great navigation of the emotional twist and turns. Enjoyed it!

Thank you NetGalley and team for this arc! It was a super cute read and enjoyable! Definitely aged for middle school, 12/13 year olds. But cute nonetheless for anyone wanting a sweet read.

this was super cute! i actually really enjoyed this even though the intended audience is probably around the 11-13 age range! i thought this was fun and lighthearted while still lightly touching on serious topics, ie., cancer, which is something that so many young kids are faced with daily and i think this book did a really good job at showing that. i thought coco was really funny and reminded me a lot of myself when i was about to go into high school. i think she was a super realistic teenager and a great fmc for this story! i also really liked henry and think he is also a perfect depiction of a young teenage boy! the way he reacted in situations is very realistic and we got to see him work through those reactions and overcome his inner struggles. i loved that this was dual pov and first person! it made for a really easy read that was very fast paced.

A DELIGHTFUL, FEEL-GOOD ESCAPE!
Fast-paced and romantic, you’ll root for Coco and Henry throughout Meet Me at Wonderland! I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters, deftly written with riveting dual points-of-view. From their first hilariously awkward “meet-cute” to their banter, flirting, and heart-to-heart conversations, this super fun read brought me back to my first crush. DeVillers delivers the nostalgia and magical atmosphere in her theme park setting, as well as an insider look at what goes on behind the scenes. Whether you’re an adult or teen, this book is a satisfying joy to read! I’d love to find out what happens next for Coco and Henry. Maybe a sequel?

A cute and quick read about Coco, a 14-year-old who is working at her family's amusement park for the summer. The characters occasionally felt a bit immature for their age, but I think older middle-grade/younger YA readers will identify with the characters and enjoy the plot, writing, and plentiful moose puns. 4 stars.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Talk about the cutest meet cute or should I say “moose-cute”!? I’m 28 years old and found this to be such a cute and fun read so I know for a fact any teen would love this! It took my back to the nostalgia of going to amusement parks as a teen and made me want to re-experience being at that age. I loved the perspective from both main characters (usually my favorite romance books have both) and I was rooting for their love! And the playlist, I’m obssesed!!
Julia DeVillers is an amazing author and I loved all the ties to home mentioned.❤️
Take me to Wonderland! And PLEASE give us a relationship status update on Coco and Henry!! I’ll be the first to buy a time jump book, I have to know what happens next!
