I have enjoyed meeting the Wynter sisters and watching them fall in love. Over the Sea to Skye is Valentina's story. Valentina is the oldest and most serious of the sisters. She is married with a young son, Barnaby, and a job as a corporate lawyer. The previous year, she had purchased a cottage in Rorthach village where her sisters, Thea and Ezzie, lived, with the plan that they would vacation there. When Gary leaves her for a woman half her age, and her P.A. of all things, she quits her job, rents the house and takes Barnaby to the Isle of Skye for the summer. With Gary taking the car, they use the train where they meet Xander Courage and his nephew, MacDonald from America. Barnaby and MacDonald become friends and are happy to know that they will be spending the summer not to far from one another. I really liked Xander. He was helping his sister out with Macdonald, but also had a very loving and close relationship with him. He and his sister are also extremely close and he would do whatever he could to help her out. There is an attraction between Valentina and Xander, but she isn't sure what to do with that. When she gets the call that Gary has been in a serious accident, she knows she has to go back to Inverness to see what is going on. I applaud her for stepping up, when she was treated so badly, but she does it for Barnaby. Will she go back to Gary? Can a romance work between people living an ocean apart? Over the Sea to Skye is a beautiful story about family, love, second chances, responsibilities and following your dreams. I loved my visit to Skye and am sorry to say goodbye to the Wynter sisters.

Over The Sea to Skye is the third and final book in the Skye Sisters series and I absolutely adored it. This story pulled me right in from the very first chapter. It was so nice getting to know Valentina and being reacquainted with her two sisters Ezzie and Thea who we got to know in the previous books. We also meet new characters mainly Xander and his nephew McDonald. As I progressed through this lovely read I was loving the descriptions of the island of Skye and it was making me want to visit there sometime in the future. Whilst this book can be read as a standalone I would recommend reading the other books in the series as they are all equally as wonderful as this one.

Sue Moorcroft, Scotland, Isle of Skye , where do I sign up , I didn’t just dive in, I immersed myself into this wonderful story, how can you not with such wonderful writing. This is everything I wanted abd I know with Sue I’ll come out of her stories in a better place than I started. Wonderful

Over the Sea to. Skye is a wonderful 'slice of life' story. This is the third book in the Skye Sisters series, and while having a read the previous helped with my understanding of many of the side characters the book can be read as a standalone as the plot is focused on the current summer.. This one is Valentina's story as she navigates her new life with her young son Barnaby after her husband left her and she learns to find herself again as a single woman. The gorgeous setting of Skye never disappoints, nor the strong themes of family ~ found and otherwise.
This was such a cozy story as Sue Moorcroft always delivers, but does not fit easily in a particular genre. The story covers several topics like adoption, single parenting and complicated family dynamics, as well as a lovely romance with a visiting American with his own family issues. A lovely look at new beginnings.
Thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for the eArc in exchange for my review.

An absolute joy to be back on the Isle of Skye with the Wynter sisters. The 3rd book in the series, mainly follows Valentina who is the oldest of the 3 adopted sisters.
Now a newly single mum to 7 year old Barnaby, they head off to their new holiday cottage by the sea fir the summer. It should have been their new adventure as a family but now Valentina is struggling to even get in touch with Gary and get him to spend time with his son. She has been made redundant and she has no idea of what to do next
Add to all this a chance meeting with an American guy and his nephew getting away from their own problems, in laws that aren't understanding, a new niece arriving and an unfortunate accident, this book will keep you engrossed in its pages.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.

The last in the trilogy this book is about eldest sister Valentina and her son Barnaby still reeling from the changes in their life they escape back to their little holiday cottage and her sisters. A lovely read about family, forgiveness and new beginnings

This is the third book in the series and this time the focus is on Valentina.
Valentina has split from her husband and has taken their young son, Barnaby, to Skye for the summer to recalibrate, however, it doesn't go as planned.
I felt this book had an intensity about it due to all the difference circumstances Valentina endured over a short space of time. My heart went out to her on many occasions. It was great she had the support of her sisters.
The author has described Skye beautifully and I could visualise myself there. It is definitely my favourite island.
I loved the way the author had a diverse range of characters in the book, this made it very relatable.
A beautiful, but emotional story about family, second chances and finding yourself. I would definitely recommend this series.

This is book 3 in the series set around the Scottish island of Skye and featuring the three sisters Valentina, Thea and Ezz, also known as the Wynter sisters. You can read it as a stand-alone but if you have read the previous two books it gives you the backgrounds to their lives and the family connections.
Valentina is on route to Skye via Inverness with her young son Barnaby, and is thinking seriously about her life now, her husband Gary has just ended their marriage after having an affair with Valentina's own personal assistant. Travelling through the Scottish Highlands on route to the island of Skye by train, Valentina encounters a fellow traveller who has had some of his possessions stolen. After giving him some legal advice (well she is a solicitor) they strike up a friendship and she ends up giving them a lift after their hire car fails to arrive.
On arrival in Skye, Valentina and Ezz are thrilled to learn that Thea has just given birth to a baby daughter that they have named Kerry.
Valentina is certainly having major marital problems, none of which are her making and somehow the American guy she befriended on the train returns the favour and is there for her. But when she receives a phone call from the police about her ex Gary, she goes quickly to the hospital and finds that things are not too good. When she then has to get Gary's new girlfriend involved, the sparks really hit the fan with her in-laws.
This book is Valentina's own personal story, including her relationship with her ex, her son, her in-laws and most importantly her two sisters who although all adopted are more connected than most. When she has a message from a long lost relative she has even more decisions to make about her life and future. Will she make a go at a new romance with her new found American friend or will her ex's involvement with her old work colleague put a stop to it.
This Skye Sisters Trilogy is just an amazing read, it captures your attention throughout and truly makes you want to visit the area. I have really enjoyed reading this and the previous two books and following the lives of the three sisters. A very good five-star read from me.

Sue Moorcroft's "Over the Sea to Skye" is an idyllic and sentimental finale to The Skye Sisters Trilogy. This book revolves around Valentina, whose life takes an unexpected turn, prompting her and her young son to flee to the lovely Isle of Skye.
The author is particularly good at telling a heartwarming but also absolutely relatable story. Valentina's process of self-discovery, dealing with single parenthood, fraught family life (including a recalcitrant estranged husband and new blood tie links), and tentative new romance with American Xander, is treated with sensitivity and realism. The breathtakingly gorgeous environment of Skye itself is almost an additional character, well sketched and providing a wonderful background for the emotional context of the novel.
Although part of a trilogy, "Over the Sea to Skye" can happily be read as a single, with all the necessary background smoothly incorporated. Readers will enjoy the close ties between Valentina and her sisters, and the good sense the author uses in bringing all the threads of the story together in a rich ending. This is an escapist book with hope, love, and the strength of family holding its power over the years, prompting you to jump onto a plane to Scotland.

Valentina Taylor is returning, with her seven year old son Barney, to the beautiful Isle of Skye where they are to spend the summer at their newly renovated cottage. With her emotions running high Valentina is trying to cope with the break up of her marraige whilst at the same time protecting Barney from the inevitable fallout. As always her sisters, Ezzie and Thea, are there to support them but it is Valentina’s unexpected friendship with Xander Courage where the heart of the story lies.
This is an emotional read in many ways as not only do we witness the complications in Valentina’s life but we also get to share in her joy and heartbreak when life doesn’t go as planned. There’s a lovely theme of friendship running throughout along with a strong sense of the three sisters once again pulling together to protect those they love. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Ezzie, Thea and Valentina and their individual stories have shown just what strength of character they all have and the author has explored these so beautifully in each of the stories in the trilogy. Valentina’s story was always going to be an emotional read and it doesn’t disappoint and whilst she was, perhaps, the sister we knew least about it has been such a treat to follow her story, from marriage breakup, to finding romance, and also a tentative reach out to the secrets of her past.
Whilst each of the books can be read as a standalone story, I do think it is better if you read the trilogy in order as that way you will get to know and love the characters which the author has created with such warmth, and of course, you get to spend time on the beautiful Isle of Skye, which is very much another character in the story. It’s been such a pleasure to follow the lives of Ezzie, Thea and Valentina and Over the Sea to Skye concludes the series beautifully.

Spending the summer on the island of Skye
With her son, Barnaby, and family nearby.
Both her adopted sisters have lived there for a while
And being with their families will make them all smile.
Valentina's husband has left her and their seven year old son,
Off with a young woman he has run
Where they've gone she doesn't know
And to Barnaby it has proved a horrible blow.
Two American's join their train journey to Skye
And amazingly sparks seem to fly.
A theft, new friendships and surprise encounters, too,
Make this a holiday for them all to work through.
An accident adds to the turmoil, too,
Leaving Valentina unsure just what she should do.
Will this prove to be a difficult time
And would finding romance really be a crime?
Will this prove to be a relationship that distance tears apart
Or will it be a true connection of their hearts?
With secrets from the past being revealed
So many other things being concealed
Filled with family dramas on all sides
Can they still discover where true love hides?
A fantastic read for which I say a huge thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Okay, so I know, I'm late to the party but I LOVED this!
It's all about Valentina - the third sister who has just overcome a devastating blow - she has lost both her husband and her assistant (by the end, I suspect the assistant was the bigger loss)
In an effort to put things in perspective, she and her son travel to Skye - where her two sisters live, introducing us to characters from previous stories in this trilogy. I'm looking forward to going back and reading these.
On the way she meets Xander Courage (that name!) the books is a lot about her husband's predicament after he has an accident, we meet his horrible family and speaking of family, there is the question of Valentina's birth family...
This is a gorgeous book, the perfect summer escapist read!

Over the Sea to Skye is the third book in the Skye Sisters trilogy by Sue Moorcroft. This time, the focus is on Valentina, who has been a bit in the background in the previous books mainly because, unlike her sisters Ezzie and Thea, Valentina lives in Inverness rather than on the Isle of Skye.
However, Valentina has now bought and renovated a cottage right on the shore and she is bringing her young son Barnaby with her to spend the summer. This has come at a good time for her given that her life is in turmoil. Her marriage has broken down and she has been made redundant so spending time on the island with the people she loves will help heal her hurts.
On the train, she meets an American tourist named Xander Courage and his nephew who are Britsburghers which mean that they're descended from British people but live in Pittsburgh. Xander is heading to the island for a few weeks to explore his Scottish history and he has bought Macdonald with him to get him away from some trouble at home. Even though there is a 10 year age gap between Macdonald and Barnaby they bond over games.
Valentina has a lot going on in her world. She is navigating her separation from her husband Gary following his affair. She also has to deal with Barnaby's feelings as he misses his dad. She is also attracted to Xander. And then there is the random email she has just received from someone saying he is her brother. All three girls were adopted by loving parents, and in each of their books we got to meet their birth families, and this time it is Valentina's turn.
There is a British show called Lost Families which I often watch when I am home alone so no one can see my cry in just about every episode. It features families who have been separated and then reunited. Whilst I love the ones where relationships are repaired and loving bonds formed, it doesn't always work out that well, and I was interested to see which way this would go in Valentina's story.
I really enjoyed Xander as a character. He has come to find his family history, and take a break from his stressful job, but I think he probably didn't really know what he was taking on when he suggested bringing Macdonald with him. There isn't a lot for a lonely, hurt teenager to do on the island so it wasn't a surprise when there was a bit of trouble. Xander felt like a fundamentally decent guy trying to do the right thing by everyone, even when it backfired on him. He was able to support Valentina admirably when she had to deal with yet another crisis and her ex's family (ugh!).
Oh, and a special shout out to the VW camper van named Miley! Such a fun inclusion
Once again the Isle of Skye stars as the location for this book. As I mentioned in my review for the last book, we spent a couple of hours on Skye when we were in Scotland last year. It was nowhere near enough and the author makes me want to drop anything and go back now to spend more time exploring the island!
It's always a bit bittersweet when you come to the end of a trilogy that you have enjoyed. You know how the story is playing out for all the characters but you aren't quite ready to let them go just yet. It was lovely to see how Ezzie and Thea's lives now.
Here are my review for the first two books in the trilogy

sweet romance with thoughtful aspects
I had not read the first two books in this series but felt right at home starting with Over the sea to Skye. This is a wonderful book, addressing various aspects such as mid life major life changes with partners leaving for younger models or new lives, trying to trust new relationships, and in general, figuring out what's next and what's the right thing to do. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you to the publisher who lent me an e-arc via netgalley with no obligation. This review is optional and my own opinion.

'...before she met a tousled American man who'd packed a piece of her heart in his suitcase when he'd left...'
Nooooooo! I don't want this trilogy to end, but sadly this in the final book in the series. 😢 This time around, we are living with Valentina for a wee while. She is living a slightly tumultuous life right now, with no job, an errant husband and nothing very positive happening.
But she's off to her cottage on Skye for the summer, to spend some downtime with her sisters and their families - but of course it doesn't turn out to be quite as relaxing as she'd hoped.
This one was my most favourite of the trilogy, and I didn't think it was going to be. After reading the others, I thought Valentina was going to be stuck-up and boring, but she was far from it. I loved her. I loved her story, I loved Barnaby, I loved the views from her cottage, and yes, the author made me feel as though I was right there, wandering on the beach and searching in the rock pools.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Sue has in store for us next. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be just as gorgeous.
Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Over the Sea to Skye by Sue Moorcroft.

3.5 Stars
One summer on a beautiful island could change everything…LOSE YOURSELF FOR THE HOLIDAYS IN THIS ESCAPIST, ROMANTIC READ ABOUT FOUND FAMILY FROM THE MILLION-COPY AND SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR.
3.5 Stars!
I really enjoyed this book, this is the third book in a series and I don’t feel like I missed anything. This book starts with Valentina, whose husband left her for his secretary. Valentina is on her way to Skye to visit her sisters with her young son. On their way she runs into Xander, they hit it off right away. Of course things can’t be that easy and there is a ton of family dynamics, but the author handled it well. I would like to go back to the other sisters' stories to see how this all came about. This book kept my attention and was more than just a rom-com, it had more depth to it.

A lovely book in the trilogy (or is there room for a fourth?), this one follows Valentina, the last of our “Skye sisters”.
I think this was my favourite of the three because the story had even more layers. Firstly we witness how Valentina is coping with being a single mum, having recently separated from her husband. Heading to her holiday cottage in Skye is the perfect getaway. What she doesn’t anticipate is running into Xander and his nephew. They are over from America and encountering Valentina changes both of their experiences for the summer.
Similar to the other books, Valentina also explores her birth family. What I liked about this was how Moorcroft doesn’t portray a simple reconnection where both parties get along just fine. It felt more realistic when Valentina gets second doubts; she struggles to relax around the very enthusiastic Dale and doesn’t know if this part of her history is something she wishes to pursue further. Not only feeling sorry for Valentina, I also thought this subplot reflected life where judgements of people aren’t always leading to a forever friendship.
In my opinion, this book was deeper and more tense than the other stories, largely due to Gary’s accident. The stress this generates for Valentina and her son meant that their summer break in Skye was overshadowed by this worrying situation, made even worse by uncooperative in-laws.
Yet, romance readers won’t be disappointed as this is also part of the story. I thought it felt quite similar to Ezzie’s relationship due to the different countries angle; I would have preferred Valentina’s romance to be slightly more different to her sister.
But, I thought this was a great read and I really enjoyed revisiting the well-loved characters. The series has grown on me and I think this was an enjoyable read with plenty of angles to appreciate, whilst in a beautiful setting.
With thanks to Avon, Rachel’s Random Resources and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

#3 in a seried following the Wynter sisters. This one concentrates on Valentina and her relationship with her young som Barnaby in the wakre of a messy split. Whilst Valentina and Barnaby are in their summer cottage on the isle of Skye an accident happens to his Dad that forces Valentina to address the issues of him running off with her associate.
In the midst of all this a handsome American travelling with his teenage nephew becomes a very important part of their lives.
Fabulous book - I have loved all three and this was just as good if not better.

It’s been wonderful spending time on the beautiful island of Skye. Sue Moorcroft writes such wonderful stories and this trilogy has been a treat for readers.
Valentina, Thea and Ezzie are brilliant characters - sisters foremost, they are so supportive to eachother and I love their WhatsApp group chats. Each at differing stages in their lives they always have time for one another.
Getting to know Valentina in this story has bee special. She has been able to relax and let go sight lf since being back on Skye - seeing her loosen up slightly and enjoy her time with Barnaby has been lovely to see.

well this is another brill book to read about the skye sisters valentina is the elder and having problems with her marriage thea as just had baby kerry and ezz busy up at the hall valentina is over at her cottage at skye for the summer holidays with her son barnaby and this is where the story begins it is full of love heartache and sorrow but is a book you cant put down and of course a happy ending is in sight
