A romantic escape to the canals of Amsterdam, full of flowers, fresh starts, and unexpected connection. 🌷⛵💛

The Floating Amsterdam Flower Shop is a cosy, feel-good read that brims with charm. Rosie is a delightful main character—hopeful, determined, and easy to root for—as she trades in her routine life for a floating flower shop and a chance at something more.

The slow-burn connection between Rosie and Max was lovely to watch unfold. He’s the kind of grumpy neighbour you know is hiding a soft heart, and their dynamic has that classic opposites-attract appeal.

Set against the whimsical, colourful backdrop of Amsterdam’s canals, this book is like a bouquet in story form: sweet, uplifting, and full of gentle beauty.

✨ Perfect for fans of:
• Cosy, atmospheric romances
• Grumpy/sunshine dynamics
• Stories about second chances and new beginnings
• Travel-inspired escapism

Book Review: The Floating Amsterdam Flower Shop by Annabel French
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)

The Floating Amsterdam Flower Shop is a charming and light-hearted romance set against the picturesque canals of Amsterdam. Annabel French introduces readers to Rosie, a young woman seeking a fresh start after leaving her ordinary life behind in England. Rosie’s dream is to open a flower shop on the water, creating a fairytale life for herself. But romance and personal growth take time, and her journey is filled with challenges, including a brooding neighbor, Max, and a rival flower seller threatening her business.

The setting of the novel is one of its standout features. French does a fantastic job of capturing the beauty of Amsterdam, and the floating flower shop concept adds a unique charm to the story. It’s easy to imagine Rosie’s bright blooms set against the tranquil canals, creating a perfect escape for readers who love picturesque European locales.

Rosie and Max’s romance is sweet, though somewhat predictable. Rosie’s hesitation to dive into a relationship, paired with Max’s emotional baggage, creates the classic "will-they-won’t-they" dynamic. While their chemistry is apparent, the characters themselves feel a bit underdeveloped, and their back-and-forth can sometimes be frustrating.

The plot, while enjoyable, occasionally dips into familiar territory. The rival flower seller subplot introduces a bit of drama, but it doesn’t fully add the depth I was hoping for. The story’s pacing is generally pleasant, though at times it felt slow as Rosie and Max took their time figuring things out.

Final Thoughts:
The Floating Amsterdam Flower Shop is a breezy and heartwarming romance, perfect for fans of escapist reads. While it doesn’t break new ground in the genre, it’s a lovely, feel-good story with an undeniably charming setting. If you're in the mood for a cozy, romantic escape to Amsterdam, this is the book for you.

This was such a gorgeous and cosy romance. I loved Rosie and Max's blossoming relationship and the characters intertwined within the story. The flower shop theme of the story was such a delight to read about and made for a story of loss becoming something beautiful.

As someone who loves flowers and would like to visit Amsterdam one day, this book was right up my street. The descriptions of the city and the flower market were wonderful and allowed me to envision it perfectly. It is a sweet book that is a great bit of escapism, especially on a wet and dreary day.

Loved this story about Rosie who decided to live London and go to Amsterdam to get a job on the Floating Amsterdam Flower Shop. She rented a house boat the Forget me Knot. She loved everything flowers as her Mom, was a botanist. She had a handsome houseboat neighbor Max. , who is an artist. Read to see if and when they start liking each other and where it goes. Rosie lands a small pitch on the floating florist shop and after an odd begining , the shop is off and running. She makes some friend and when certain things happen . The shop on the canal is like it used to be because of Rosie's willingness to always do the right thing.

This was a sweet, clean read about a girl who leaves home to realize her dream of owning a flower shop in Amsterdam.

It would have been so much easier for Rosie Harper to stay home and nurse her grief, but she bolsters her courage and discovers that “the journey was as much fun as the destination.” Along the way, she deals with many people and events that want to derail her, but she, with the help of some newfound friends and calls home to her Dad, learns to stand her ground and work for her dream.

You’ll love the great characters, from the grumpy neighbour to the helpful friend, love the food references, and will feel like the author has transported you and your bike to one of the most intriguing places in the world.

I learned about ‘Dutch courage’ and Bloemenmarkt, and was reminded that appearances can be deceiving.

My takeaway: treat everyone with kindness and respect because you never know what they’re going through.

I was gifted this copy by Avon Books UK and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I loved Rosie and Maxs story. I highly enjoyed Rosie and her love of flowers. I love the floral shop aspect as I always dreamed of having one. Max was a great love interest and I adored how Rosie was slowly able to coax him out of a broken heart. It was endearing, beautifully written, and a true delight to read. Highly recommend if you looking for a cozy romance that gives you all the feels.
