I'll read anything Marchetti writes. Give me all the fake dating, forced proximity tropes. Donna does such a great job weaving characters together who feel so real and a story that you just cannot put down!

This wasn’t my favorite read. While I got the whole point was meant to be about her planning a proposal I felt like there wasn’t really much else besides that. I didn’t feel like we got too in depth into their lives outside of being the best friends of the other couple.

I read Hate Mail a while ago, and quite enjoyed it, so I was really excited to receive this eARC. It had the same things I enjoyed about Hate Mail: easy to read, great writing style, humour, and likeable characters.

Oliver — he was a sweetheart. Even though Priscilla was adamant in “hating” him, he still looked out for her, wanted to spend time with her, was a little bit cocky, but he was really just smitten with Priscilla, and was hurt by her rejection of him when they first met. I loved how even though he said it was to help their case with their fake dating plot, he initiated kisses just because he wanted to kiss her. I could tell from the very first moment he liked her.

Priscilla — Man, I am so glad she didn’t end up working for Malcom. He was an ass who was condescending and overly-flirty. He didn’t take a hint and was so full of himself. I’m proud Priscilla decided to open her own business, and it worked in her favour, and I’m happy that Tina gave her that push. I loved the relationship between Priscilla and Tina, it felt like a genuine sisterhood where they both loved each other unconditionally.

The Romance — this is where I was a bit underwhelmed. We got a lot of Oliver and Priscilla working together to plan the joint proposal, and we got scenes of them acting out their fake-dating plot, but we don’t actually see any emotional or romantic development between them. It’s like we’re expected to trust that they know each other from when they were previously friends for one week, a whole year ago. They don’t really learn anything new about each other or have any deep conversations. I would have loved to see Priscilla have a deep conversation where she explains, in her point of view, how Oliver hurt her and why. I wanted her to express why him using the word “obsessive” was so hurtful to her. There was A LOT of miscommunication that probably could have been avoided.

However, I did really enjoy their banter and the few cute moments they did have. I could really see them being a believable couple if only there was more development. It felt like it went from frenemies-friends-I love you very quickly, with no in between.

Overall though, I did enjoy this and it was an entertaining, quick read. It was funny, sweet, and had good romantic moments.

pretty fun romance book that's generally well written, though like many enemies to lovers stories that i read it's really less enemies and more almost-lovers. 4 stars. tysm for the arc.

Thank you so much HarperCollinsUK and One More Chapter for an early copy of The Proposal Project! 💖
This book was so cute!!! The tropes include enemies to lovers, fake dating, forced proximity (a common project), slow burn, and definitely has a "he falls first" kind of vibe!
I really liked that this book kind of reminded me of my fav enemies to lovers books like The Hating Game and The Unhoneymooners where you don't really understand why they hate each other until the end. Like I said earlier, the book is more slow burn BUTTTT the pacing of the book still feels fast paced! I read this book super fast because it was like brain candy! 😂
I also loved that all the main characters were in a common friend group and they had so many cute and funny moments!
I've been dying to read Hate Mail and this just shows that I should have more urgency in reading it! 💞

The Proposal Project is a delightful romantic comedy that combines classic tropes with a fresh premise. Event planner Priscilla Cain is tasked with organizing her best friend Tina’s dream proposal to her boyfriend, Ryan. However, she discovers that Ryan is planning his own surprise proposal. To coordinate the dual proposals, Priscilla teams up with Ryan’s best friend, Oliver—her charming yet infuriating rival. As they collaborate in secret, their relationship evolves from mutual annoyance to unexpected affection.

The novel features beloved rom-com elements such as fake dating, forced proximity, and the “one bed” scenario, all delivered with humor and heart. Marchetti’s writing captures the chemistry between Priscilla and Oliver, making their banter and growing connection engaging. The story maintains a light, feel-good tone throughout, culminating in a satisfying happily-ever-after without the typical third-act breakup.

While the plot follows familiar patterns, the unique setup of a double proposal adds a refreshing twist. The pacing is brisk, and the characters are endearing, making it an enjoyable read for fans of contemporary romance.
A charming and witty rom-com that delivers on its promises.

The Proposal Project is an enemies to lovers x fake dating romance which follows Priscilla who is hired to plan her best friends (Tina) proposal, whilst having to put up with Oliver, who is her best friends boyfriends (Ryan) best friend. The plot unfolds as it turns out Tina wants to propose to Ryan, and Ryan wants to propose to Tina, so not only does Priscilla have to plan Tina’s proposal, she has to work with Oliver to stop Ryan proposing.

I was so excited for The Proposal Project as Donna Marchetti’s previous book, Hate Mail, was a 5 star read for me! Unfortunately this book didn’t quite hit the mark for me and I didn’t feel the same chemistry between the leads of this book as I did for Hate Mail, however I still really enjoyed this book and love the way Marchetti writes, it’s addictive, it really pulls you into the story as if you were there.

Overall, this is an enjoyable book, especially if you want a really good happily ever after epilogue! I am giving The Proposal Project 3.5 stars and I will be reading Donna Marchetti’s next book!

This is pretty much everything I look for in a rom-com. It made me laugh, it made me swoon, I even said awwwww a few times. And it has fake dating which is a trope I adore. The writing is good and the two mains have really good chemistry.

I rated this a four because the miscommunication trope is just not my thing, especially when the characters are not teenagers. Also, Oliver came across as more than a bit of a jerk for the first part of the book. I did warm up to him, but it took awhile.

I want to thank netgalley for this arc! (My first ever arc 🥳)

I read hate mail by Donna Marchetti so have been so excited for this book and it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this book I love the characters the premise everything! Oliver is everything he was such a cutie and it was so obvious he was down bad for Priscilla. There whole journey of planning the proposal together was so sweet I really enjoyed it.

I read this book so incredibly quickly as I was obsessed! Did I have a uni deadline that I ignored to read this book, yes I absolutely did. But this book was so addictive and I was enjoying it so much I didn’t want to put it down.

Also Oliver is my new book boyfriend🩷 He is the standard I’m honestly obsessed with him he was so down bad and cute!

The only thing that didn’t make this a five star for me was that it wasn’t from both characters prospectives only Priscilla’s. I say this for all singe POV books I always think they would benefit so much more from both POV and I would have adored to see things from Oliver’s perspective as he such a cutie.
I also think Priscilla original reason for disliking Oliver was way over dramatic and I think had more to do with self insecurity then anything else.

Overall I loved this book and would definitely recommend if you want fun quick Rom-Com. I am so excited for other books this author may publish and cannot wait to get my hands on this book physically!

This book has a lot of charm, and the grand, wholesome proposal the main characters plan for their friends was genuinely heartwarming. The banter between Priscilla and Oliver is sharp, funny, and one of the book's strengths. Watching the shift from fake to real feelings unfold was satisfying and kept the story engaging.

However, the marketing as an enemies-to-lovers did feel a bit misleading. The "hatred" between the main characters stems more so from a single miscommunication than any deep-seated rivalry, which makes their conflict, and especially its resolution, feel underwhelming. The moment they clear things up happens so quickly that it lacks emotional payoff, especially given how central the misunderstanding is to the plot.

It also leans heavily on the overused miscommunication trope, which might not work for every reader. That said, if you're looking for an easy, entertaining read with a bit of fluff and a lot of heart, this is a solid read.

- thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc, all thoughts are my own opinion.

After this book, I can say for sure: I love Donna Marchetti and her stories. After having finished, a few months ago, The Hate Mail, I jumped into this new release, and I was positively surprised. The author created a completely different setting and plot, with different characters too, but she keeps her magical touch, which fills her novels with fun, light-hearted emotions, and love. I was so involved in Oliver and Priscilla’s love story, but also in the subplot, in the organisation of Tina’s proposal (and another one… I won’t spoil the surprise). It felt like watching a comfort movie, a romantic but also entertaining rom com, which is a typical feature of Marchetti’s style, and I felt so much ease in reading something light and funny, I needed this kind of feeling. I’m looking forward to the next releases because I’m sure they will be great. I just love this author and her books🎀

This book was such a good and cute read. I love how both characters each liked to get under each others skin. The pining for one another was on another level and the chemistry was off the charts. I love the fake dating aspect in the book as well.

This book is such a sweet and fun read and a big thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this for an honest review.

Please don’t be fooled by how long it took me to read this one, uni took over my life and reading for pleasure was relegated to a couple of pages a day 😭.

But uni is finished and so is this lovely little romcom.

Oliver was quite clearly smitten kitten from the very first page but lord wouldn’t it have been great to have his POV 😫- I know people are like “don’t complain when books aren’t dual point of view” and I’m not complaining, I am pining! Pining for one small chapter where she keeps saying “fake” and he shags the word right out of her brain 😂. No, just me? 🤷🏼‍♀️ anyway!

I had a great time reading them fall in love and I always find myself grinning like a fool at random parts of Donna’s books so that’s fun!

Great for fans of Olivia Dade!

thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the earc.
the cover is beautiful

I loved the idea behind this book and the friendships they both had and the fake dating trope. I liked Oliver. However, I couldn't get behind Priscilla acting the way she did throughout. She felt too entitled and juvenile for being a character in her 30s. It didn't hit right.

I loved that they worked together for their best friends' proposals. it came together beautifully.

This book was okay! It was just fine for me. I felt it drag a bit, and had a hard time feeling a connection between the two main characters, but I think the last third was the best part of the book.

This is a quick, light and fluffy romance with a slow-burn and happily ever after so a perfect book to read between heavier or longer books.

It was a pleasant read but to make it even better I would have loved some chapters of Oliver's POV and even perhaps some more failed/foiled proposals. It would have been great to see Oliver and Priscilla having to de-rail eachothers plans attempts before eventually coming together to plan the big joint proposal. I think that would have definitely added some more humour/spark to their budding relationship.

I wouldn't say it's a full enemies to lovers as the perceived hatred is from one small misunderstanding but we have he falls first, fake dating, only one bed and bit of spice once they admit that the feelings aren't fake. The relationship does burn quite quick with not a lot of build up or too much angst but I do like them together.

The ending epilogue was very cute even though I had already figured out what Oliver had done back in the main story. I felt it wrapped up nicely and the pace overall was good.

Ahhh I couldn't stop reading! I loved this!
I loveeee their chemistry and the tension was so amazing!
The Proposal Project is about our FMC called Priscilla who was fired from her job and doesn't know what to do next, until her bestie Tina decides she wants to propose to her partner Ryan! However, she finds out that Ryan is trying to do the same using his best friend Oliver to help plan the best proposal. Priscilla enlists Oliver to help make the ultimate double proposal for their besties. Easy right? Not quite, they really don't get on and she can't stand him. This makes for an amazing story with banter, tension and a slight miscommunication 😉
We have fake dating, he falls first, enemies (eh kinda) to lovers 🔥
I don't normally like miscommunication but I feel like the way it was done in this books was really good! I could completely see how she felt but I also understood from his side!
The story between Oliver and Priscilla is sooo good!! He's the perfect guy, he really shows that he cares for her. She was such a lovable FMC and I could relate to her in a lot of ways, not seeing people for who they are and trying to see the best in everyone and her overthinking made me feel so seen!
I was so not expecting to be approved for the arc of this book!! Thank you to Donna Marchetti & Harper Collins! 💗

#Review: *The Proposal Project* - Donna Marchetti - ARC [18+]
4.8/5✨
3/5🌶️

I had another book by Donna on my TBR list, 'Hate Mail', but since this one was available by request on Netgalley, I took advantage of the opportunity and tried my luck. I was super happy when I received my approval email, so thank youu so much Donna!

Priscilla lost her job as an event planner because of something she didn't do. So, her good friend Tina suggested to have Priscilla's help with a secret project: to propose to her boyfriend, Ryan, and to organize their wedding too.

On the other side we have Oliver, who was Ryan's best friend and, guess what? They were also planning a proposal🤣. Somehow, Oliver and Priscilla will end up working together in secret, which will only complicate things. Because one thing led to another and some excuses had to be invented when they were caught together😅. So the first thing which came at hand was that they started dating. Of course, things will not be simple at all and it only will bring to surface many questions to both of them.

The banter from this book was sooo, sooo good!! I just adored the constant bickering between Priscilla and Oliver, who had an unstable relationship because of an misunderstanding from the past. I laughed so much while reading this one and it was so exciting to follow their little plans for their best friends.

I looved this book and it made me crave to read 'Hate mail' really soon, because this one truly didn't disappointed me. A super fun read, with some steamy scenes too, all which will definitely put a smile on your face😊.
