It's official, no one does enemies to lovers like Donna Marchetti 🥵
Whilst I found myself frustrated at the miscommunication/constant self doubt from Priscilla, I knew exactly what I was getting with this book and loved every second. I adored seeing her and Oliver's relationship develop throughout as they planned the wedding proposal, and Oliver was just a dreamy book boyfriend.
Also a shout out to Tina and Ryan - what a brilliant couple and even more brilliant friends, this dynamic of the four of them double dating really added another layer to the story for me!

ARC REVIEW:

3.75 rounded up; this was a really sweet story - loved the characters and the banter back and forth between the two MCs. I was slightly annoyed with the FMC’s “obsessive” insecurity aspect but overall it worked out. Oliver was an absolute gem.

Every once in a while a book comes along that gives you a genuine physical reaction to it that both makes me want to stop reading and makes it impossible to put the book down, this is the one.
The miscommunication trope, while maybe annoying to seem, felt very realistic internally (and by that I mean, I am also a mess who also makes assumptions and doesn't talk about her assumptions).
This is my first ARC in a while and it was exactly the breather I needed after a string of pretty dark or heavy books. A delightful, fun little romp!
10/10

I really enjoyed this book! I was looking for a book that was light and easy, with good writing. So often are rom coms written badly, with cringe and corny moments, but The Proposal Project was accessible and well written, and the perfect light read. I fell in love with Oliver and Priscilla, and I will definitely look out for more Donna Marchetti books.

Thanks NetGalley for this eArc.

The BANTER?! The SLOW BURN?! *chefs kiss*

This was the perfect pick-me-up that I didn’t know I needed. I loved the fake dating and believed every bit of it. I honestly wish it was dual POV, just so I can see into Oliver’s mind.

I wish the book ended with some closure regarding her parents, but I’m so so happy with the epilogue. Will definitely recommend this book to my friends!

Priscilla has just been fired from an event planning company, so when her best friend Tina offers to pay her to plan the proposal, Priscilla accepts and decides to start her own company. Unbeknownst to her at the time, Tina’s boyfriend Ryan is also planning a proposal with the help of his best friend Oliver. Priscilla has been at odds with Oliver practically since they met. Though she had an initial attraction to him, he quickly turned her off with a rude comment in front of all their friends. Now, the two decide to team up to plan the extravagant proposal involving white horses, a flash mob, and skywriting, among other things. When they’re caught together, they decide to pretend they’re dating rather than spill the beans to Ryan and Tina about each other’s plans to propose. Naturally, through fake dating and forced proximity, the two end up falling for each other.

The Proposal Project is the perfect easy read escape when you need it. I absolutely blew through this book. Not only did I not want to put it down because of the chemistry between Priscilla and Oliver, but I also felt like it just read super quickly. I was sad with how quickly I was getting through the book, but that didn’t stop me from continuing. As I previously stated, the chemistry between the main characters is amazing, and watching their initial standoffishness melt away into a true friendship and then romance was enticing and fun. This book is steamy, lighthearted, and completely ridiculous at times (the proposal is truly absurd in its over-the-top-ness), and I had so much fun reading it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collin’s UK/One More Chapter for the ARC!

In order to keep their best friends' proposal a secret, Priscilla and Oliver agree to pretend they're dating. The Proposal Project is a sweet, light-hearted read, but personally, I found the miscommunications a bit frustrating as they felt unnatural. Additionally, I didn't connect with Priscilla's behavior, which came across as overly childish for my taste.

“The Proposal Project” is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that will have you swooning and laughing throughout. From the very beginning, you’ll find yourself rooting for Oliver and Priscilla. The quirky characters and over-the-top proposal planning perfectly complement the story.

A massive thank you to NetGalley and Donna Marchetti for allowing me the absolute pleasure of reading this book, and early!

To begin with - this book came at the perfect time for me, it made me feel so good, I laughed and smiled so much throughout this book!
It was well paced, I wasn’t bored at any point, I just wanted to keep reading, and I’m a little sad that it’s over.

The banter between Priscilla and Oliver is absolutely hilarious and adorable, but also so real! Oliver is such a sweetheart 🥹
I did get a little annoyed at moments over the miscommunication but it makes it feel so much more real!! Even the banter between Priscilla and her best friend, Tina is so good!

And just the right amount of spice! ✨

The way they both came together to plan the proposal of both of their best friends was so funny, and magical!

I’ve never been a big romance reader, but I think this book has paved the way for me!

I LOVED this book. The plot was so fun, the chemistry and development of the relationship between the main characters was perfect. The friendship between Tina and Priscilla was also so great, they truly are both the epitome of girls supporting girls. This was a such a sweet book that had me literally giggling the whole way through. My favourite romance of the year so far!

I really enjoyed Hate Mail, so I was excited to see that Dona Marchetti had another book coming out soon. This one would make the perfect rom-com—it was light and silly, but that never took away from the heart of the romance. The story felt organic, and I thoroughly enjoyed following all the shenanigans the main characters got into on their way to a happily ever after. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, feel-good read.

I enjoyed HATE MAIL so had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately it just fell a little flat for me.

Priscilla Cain, the ultimate event planner, has everything under control — until she’s tasked with planning her best friend’s dream proposal. The catch? Her best friend’s fiancé might be about to propose on his own. So, Priscilla teams up with Ryan’s best friend, Oliver — obnoxious, gorgeous, and completely off-limits — to pull off a joint proposal. But keeping their secret alliance from their friends may be harder than they think. And as they work together, sparks fly. They might just find their own happily-ever-after.

Love this book! An enemies to lovers story full of characters that you root for, a fun plot, and a lot of spice!

Falling in love was NOT on Priscilla's to-do list, and honestly, same, girl🙂‍↕️ same. My to-do-list is to actually fall in love, but instead I’m reading about fictional characters falling in love. What had my life come too✋

So listen: as most stories like this go, we have Priscilla who is a event planner and has been roped into planning her bestie's epic proposal. Cute, right? Except the boyfriend might propose first (rude), so naturally, she has to team up with his best man named Oliver: hot, annoying, and allergic to plans. The perfect rom-com that I’m convinced needs to be a movie.

The tension and humor in this book were IMMACULATE. I laughed, I swooned, I yelled “JUST KISS” into a pillow. 10/10 would fake-plan a proposal with a hot nemesis again. (If I ever get one😭)

I’ll be sending this book an RSVP to my heart. 5/5 star no doubt about it.

3.5 🌟

Release date is 19 June 2025!!

Synonypsis: The Proposal Project is a contemporary romance about two ‘enemies’ forced to work together on a double wedding proposal, only to find themselves tangled in a fake relationship that starts to feel a lot like the real thing.

The Proposal Project was such a fun read!! ✨ I loved the double proposal planning aspect! Especially since it created the perfect setup for some great forced proximity moments 🤭 And then with the fake dating trope? I was living for it!! Something about the sneaking around, ‘practice’ kisses and the inevitable shift from fake to real always gets me! ♾️

I also really enjoyed the tension between the leads and how they couldn’t resist each other despite their “history.” The shameless flirting (mostly from Oliver lol) was a definite highlight for me!! <3 This is also quick and fast-paced which I appreciate!! I finished this in ONE day 🙂‍↔️

However, because this is a short novel, the characters barely have any depth which was a huge bummer. I didn’t buy the reason they were “enemies” at all either—it felt flimsy and created a lot of unnecessary miscommunication. That said, the way it was eventually resolved was genuinely sweet, so I won’t complain too much. If you go in with the right expectations, I think you’ll like this as much as I did.

The Proposal Project gives off 2000s rom-com vibes so if you’re looking for something like that, (light, fun, and escapist) this is a great pick!! 🤍

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for gifting me this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

5/5 stars. loved.

I was very much in the mood for a happy, lighthearted book, so getting this arc right now was perfect. I was laughing and enjoying myself from the first page and haven't been so addicted to reading something in a while.

Priscilla and Oliver are really entertaining to read as separate characters and of course together. Both of them had clear, strong personalities from the start that complimented each other very well. I also really loved Priscilla and Tina's dynamic!

I will say that this leans pretty heavily on the miscommunication trope, which I know can be painful/frustrating if not done right, but I thought it was a sweet use of it that felt very human and made the book so hard to put down.

Normalize fun romance! Not everything has to have a heartbreaking turn! This was so joyful and whimsical!
