This was an enjoyable read overall, with a fun premise and a lighthearted vibe. i also thought that the ending was kind of perfect for this book, and it honestly pulled on my heartstrings a bit.

Another absolute hit by Donna Marchetti! She is becoming an auto buy author for me! This book was such FUN! Hilarious and relatable. I absolutely had such a fun time reading it.

3.5 Stars rounded up
The Proposal Project is a fun rom com about two rivals planning their best friends’ proposal. Priscilla and Oliver have always been rivals… right? Priscilla has hated Oliver ever since she drunkenly confessed that she was “obsessed” with him, a few years back. Now, Priscilla’s best friend, Tina, and Oliver’s best friend, Ryan, are getting engaged, and both Priscilla and Oliver are tasked with planning their friend’s proposal. In a race to get their side to propose first, all cards are on the table with unlikely alliances, and even… their hearts?
After reading Hate Mail almost a year ago and absolutely loving it, I had to read the next book by this author, and boy, it did not disappoint! The humor in this book is top notch, while the characters themselves are so lovable. Normally, I’m not the biggest fan of the miscommunication trope, but I think it was really well executed in this book. The Proposal Project definitely rides the line between funny and cheesy, which made for some parts that gave me major secondhand embarrassment. I also thought that the ending was kind of perfect for this book, and it honestly pulled on my heartstrings a bit.

4 Stars! This book was so much fun. I have been in such a slump and this is the first book in a hot minute that had me smiling and truly wanting to keep reading every page. Oliver is obsessed with Priscilla and she is BLIND. The poor girl wouldn’t know love if it smacked her in the face. But boy did I love the journey. Oliver, aside from his excessive smirking, is just the cutest golden retriever man ever. He is OBSESSED. I’m not over it yet. The storyline with Malcom seemed weirdly unfinished and out of place but that did not stop me from loving every minute of this book.
My only two qualms, (a) does Oliver have a facial expression that doesn’t include a smirk? (b) the ending felt very rushed. I think there should’ve been another chapter in there between the big proposal and the final chapter that was really more of an epilogue, it just felt like it was missing something at the end. Or even just a longer chapter for the big proposal maybe. Something was off there but I still LOVED the book.

I wasn’t expecting to devour the book in one sitting, but I yet again couldn’t help myself when it came to Donna’s writing. It’s a crime that there are only two of her books out there. I can’t wait to see what she publishes next!
I loved Priscilla and Oliver, they were both interesting characters. However, I didn’t feel like we got much of an in-depth backstory about either of them. I was left wishing for more details about Oliver and Priscilla’s lives before the story began; like why Oliver went travelling or how he met Ryan etc.
Tina was an amazing character - I absolutely loved her and thought she brought so much personality to the story, even if she wasn’t the main protagonist. Although I appreciated that the story was told from the perspective of someone close to Tina rather than Ryan, I felt like we saw more of even Ryan’s mother’s personality than Ryan’s own. Considering he had several scenes, he seemed very calm and laid-back compared to his rather crazy partner. Perhaps that was the point?
While I love a single POV story that leaves you wondering what the romantic interest is thinking/what their motivations are, I could tell that Oliver fell hard and fast for Priscilla - maybe even before she did herself, and my heart broke for him at times. We love to punish ourselves with a Fake Dating trope—the yearning from both sides, the sneaking affection for themselves and not for their intended audience. I can’t get enough of it.
Another great book from Donna, thank you for the opportunity to read it ahead of publication, I truly appreciate it.

This truly has one of the adorable concepts and I was so excited when I received the arc for The Proposal Project. Unfortunately, I decided to dnf at 31%. Our main character, Priscilla, hates the love interest, Oliver, and is convinced that he is mean to her when I read every single one of their interactions as him flirting with her. I couldn’t quite understand why she hated him so much. All of the different relationships felt forced and the dialogue was a bit cringey and stilted. I had a hard time connecting with Priscilla and I very quickly realized this book was not for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for the eArc.

Thank you to the author and HarperCollins UK / One More Chapter for the ARC via NetGalley!
Priscilla is an event planner and loves what she does. When a mishap at work sees her fired she’s stuck on what to do. After a lunch date with her bestie leaves her with a plan she can’t wait to get it started but she didn’t plan on the obstacle in her way, an obstacle in shape of a man, a man who made an enemy out of her by embarrassing her in front of everyone.
Oliver is in charge or her best friends ring, he need to keep hold of it until the time is right. When a car trip ends with him losing it he comes to realise that the girl who he bickers with constantly is the cause of the missing ring.
When the two of them figure out what’s going on they have to work together. Enemies working together, what couldn’t go wrong with that?
Following these two in their journey as they plan and keep secrets has been so much fun. I loved the joy of them pretending and being secretive whilst also being obvious.
Donna Marchetti brought us a cute enemies to lovers, fake dating romance with a cast of lovely characters. A book full of humour and shenanigans. It was humorous, it was beautiful and so captivating.
The Proposal Project was a fun and easy read. I found myself blowing through it within 24 hours, I just couldn’t stop. I enjoyed the laughter and the banter, the relationships and everything between them all. This story was wonderful. There was a few times when I was irritated by one or both of them but other than that I’ve loved it.

I love the premise of this book. I love the fake dating trope. I love the cover. Unfortunately, I did not love the characters and that made it hard for me to love this book.
Priscilla and Oliver are quite possibly two of the most immature people I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. It was like watching two middle schoolers. They each make bad decisions consistently. Not quirky or funny decisions…. bad decisions. Their chemistry isn’t really believable because they have no witty banter, just childish insults and then moments of lust. To sum up their personalities, Priscilla is obsessive, and Oliver smirks a lot. Tina wasn’t that great either. The bride to be was supposed to be the best friend but she constantly blurted out things that Priscilla told her in confidence and seemed to take joy in putting her on the spot in front of their friends. It just made it hard to like her when she was supposed to be the supportive friend but spent more time trying to push a narrative that she wanted onto Priscilla. Ryan didn’t even really have a personality. He was just along for the ride. I also was over the whole miscommunication because honestly that felt immature as well because it was something that should not have taken a literal year to resolve.
This book was not for me. I spent half of my time reading it looking for reasons to love it. Sadly, I did not find any. I did tack on an extra star for the premise, the trope and the cover.
Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

i think you will enjoy this read if you like enemies to lovers , Forced proximity is one of my favourite and great fake dating you will love this book
i am giving the book 5 sweet and spicy stars

I adored The Proposal Project!
I flew through this one and loved every second of their fake dating dynamic. I’m excited to read more from Donna Marchetti!

There was just so much miscommunication that could have been avoided, and the relationship between the two fell flat and felt immature at times. Again, loved the idea and there were definitely some charming moments between the characters, but the relationship needed some work.

I loved the idea of this book but the execution left me feeling somewhat disappointed. Many of the miscommunications between the characters could have been avoided with some basic maturity, which left me feeling annoyed, rather than enchanted
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me at around page 60 pages. I struggled with the writing style & overbearing annoying side characters.

2.75 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for offering me an ARC of this novel!
what it’s about
—> Priscilla has just been fired from her job when her best friend asks her to plan the perfect proposal, with an unlimited budget. But then, her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend (who she hates) gets in the way when it turns out he is helping her best friend’s boyfriend plan a proposal. in the heat of trying to put a stop to that particular plan, they decide to coordinate their efforts, take a relationship, and fall head over heels in love
my honest first impression
—> while the story was an easy read, the writing style felt a little like every other romance book I could pick up in a bookstore. not exactly memorable, but it had its charming and funny moments.
the characters
—> were quite unlikeable to be honest. Tina (the best friend) felt like a privileged rich white girl many a time, and Oliver (the love interest) was just downright mean the first quarter of the book. Ryan (the best friend’s boyfriend) barely had a personality even though he played an integral part of the book. I quite related to Priscilla at certain moments, but I also think she had quite an ego at certain points.
the romance/plot
—> I didn’t quite enjoy this, to be totally honest. the issue which sparked Oliver and Priscilla’s friendship into enemies felt very forced and not quite natural. The miscommunication could have been easily fixed if only they had talked to each other, and overall the way it came to its climax felt like quite a high school situation. I also feel like their story then turned into more of a lust situation than a love situation. Oliver really annoyed me with the way he seemed to deal with the fake dating scenario, clearly liking Priscilla but keeping her in the dark about this.
overall, I enjoyed it but didn’t feel it was the best story I’ve ever read, and I lacked a connection to the romance and the characters.

*update* this was unfortunately a DNF for me. I couldn't get through the poor communication of the characters and the plot wasn't compelling enough to make me push through.
This was a really cute premise but the execution and characters fell a little flat for me. I'm not a fan of miscommunication (or lack of communication as the case may be) trope because it's just so frustrating.
I'm partially through currently but struggling to finish. Will update further once/if I am able to finish!

I loved the idea behind this story, it was a fun and easy romcom overall, but the way the FMC and MMC behaved left me frustrated and disappointed. There was just so much miscommunication that could have been avoided, and the relationship between the two fell flat and felt immature at times. Again, loved the idea and there were definitely some charming moments between the characters, but the relationship needed some work.

My second book of Donna Marchetti and it definitely did not disappoint!
After getting fired from her job, Priscilla made the bold decision to finally start her own business—with Tina becoming her very first client. She's gonna plan her proposal to her boyfriend, Ryan. It has to be huge, something similar with how her mom proposed to her dad. There's one complication though, Ryan is also planning to propose to Tina! That's how Priscilla and Oliver ended up teaming up with each other to plan their best friends' proposals to each other!
Priscilla. She’s incredibly supportive, always cheering people on even when she's struggling. She doesn't deserve what happened to her, but sometimes, the thing that we didn't want to happen is the one that will lead us to a greater life. There’s just something so beautiful about watching someone thrive when they’re doing what they truly love.
Oliver. A man completely obsessed—and I could easily recognize that. He’s so supportive in every way, always standing behind the people he cares about. He’s definitely someone you could depend on without hesitation. I absolutely adore it when a man does something meaningful for a woman and doesn’t feel the need to immediately broadcast it—that’s when you truly know he did it for her, not for the sake of recognition.
As for the story itself, I absolutely loved how Priscilla and Oliver teamed up to plan their best friends’ proposals—it was such a sweet and heartwarming setup. The misunderstanding between them genuinely confused me at first, but thinking about it now, if that moment hadn’t existed, we wouldn’t have had this story at all. Their little moments together were so precious—each interaction held so much weight. I also loved how Ryan and Tina acted like matchmakers for Oliver and Priscilla—it was so much fun to watch it unfold. If there’s one thing I wished for, though, it’s that Priscilla and Oliver had even more moments together.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for a free copy of this book. My thoughts are my own!
This book is a rom-com that is filled with all the tropes you want to see! It's chaotic, filled with humor, and doesn't really take itself seriously, which is what makes it a great read! It's lighthearted, cute and pokes fun at itself. You have two friends helping to come up with competing proposals that have to find a way to work together without the proposers finding out. Of course, they have to find a way to explain being together, especially since our FMC has made no secret of the fact that she doesn't like our MMC. Thus, fake dating comes into the chat which gets more out of control when a cabin vacation comes into play.
I loved the planning aspects of the plot. Seeing Priscilla helping her best friend to create the proposal of her dreams even when Oliver is trying to help HIS friend plan a proposal. Priscilla is an overachiever and despite the estranged dynamic, she does put aside her feelings to do the best she can for her friend. The banter and bickering was one of my favorite parts of the book, overall just well written and developed. The relationship itself could use a bit more development and planning, as the miscommunication trope seemed to be the main plot point used. For all the planning, they really didn't talk to each other.
I loved the spring/summer vibes of the story, especially with the farmers market scene.
This was an easy read that took less than two days and was a nice palette cleanser.

Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for giving me the opportunity to read this arc!
Priscilla and Oliver have a unique chemistry, their banter exchanges are hilarious and will make you laugh with them, the spicy scenes are well written and not overdone 🥰
The supporting characters give that extra edge to the story and don't annoy, in fact I found them great!
I gave 4.5 ⭐️ only because the miscommunication trope is not on my favorites but as always Donna is the best at writing rom-coms!!! 💘🐰🌷🎀

The two leads had great chemistry and were likeable characters. The banter between them was fun and the romantic storyline was well paced and sweet with a touch of spice. The supporting characters also added to the story. Overall a fun and engaging read.
