I loved every second of this! The writing was so funny and the slow burn romance was perfection! I also love how Nisha was able to highlight what it is like being a woman of color in a male-dominated field. Tris's experiences in the workplace are some that I know a lot of women will connect to and her journey will also inspire other women.

The romance was so sweet and the tension was so well done! And Rafe, oh Rafe. Protect this man at all costs. You'll know what I mean once you read this book.

Migraine representation! Although it was not a major theme throughout the book, I did love getting to see Tris handling the day-to-day of migraine and how she overcame it in a work-ish situation. It can be so difficult to live with migraine and do life, but I think Nisha highlighted it very well!

Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Nisha for the ARC.

This is my first Nisha book, and I now consider myself a fan. I really loved how funny the book is while dealing with heavy topics. I also love the conclusion to the story and how it doesn’t end in a stereotypical way.

I was worried about how the workforce conflicts would be addressed, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is one of the few books I’ve read with these topics that didn’t have the actions of the FMC/MMC making light of the situation. Being a minority who can relate to the topics depicted, the conclusion to the story meant a lot to me.

SHEEEEEESH. 5 stars!!!!!! this was my kind of BOOK. i loved everything about this and literally had so much fun. i haven’t been able to read in days but today i gulped this baby down like i was drowning and it was my air supply.

this was enemies to lovers, workplace romance perfection. obsessed doesn’t even begin to describe it. first of all - my girl TRIS is a badass!!!! an iconic woman in stem with a ferocious sense of humor and a passion for challenge. this is the type of woman we need to be aspiring to be like!!!! the fact that she faced obstacle after obstacle because she was a woman and a person of color was so infuriating but also a very accurate {unfortunately} depiction of life. i was so proud of her continuously standing up to bullies and ultimately putting them in their place so she could go on to shine. girl power! second of all - my MANNNN rafe gallagher. y’all. i was melting for this king. he was so down bad and also an absolute lover boy. he went along with their enemies dynamic just so he could get a chance to experience some form of emotion from tris. like… hello?? he was so thoughtful and intentional and i actually love the way the third act issue is done because he recognizes the situation and potential errors and chooses to clear the air and amend it all before hurting anyone. a mature man! love to see it!

the banter between these two was so good. i was locked in from start to finish. literally just from the plane ride i knew their chemistry was gonna be off the charts. also! ONE BED ONLY?! for the whole book?! BOOM SHAKALAKA YES LORDDD 🙌 i was sat. nisha tuli i am forever at your service.

I love Nisha's fantasy books so diving into a contemporary romance of hers was exciting for me, and needless to say I should not have been worried because I absolutely LOVED it!

It was so much fun and I couldn't put the book down! It was cute, funny, the chemistry was magical between the characters and the absolute perfect kind of beach read!

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC!

Nisha has been an auto buy author for me for a while because I love her storytelling style. Something about her writing just scratches that itch for me. After reading Not Safe for Work, I can confirm that her contemporary writing is just as phenomenal!

Have you ever wanted a work place romance but set on vacation? I had never even considered that an option, but it worked so well here. Tris and Rafe are workplace rivals. Tris has worked her butt of to get where she is at at the company, only to lose out on a big promotion to the boss' son, Rafe. As a woman who works in a very male dominated field (as in I am the only female employee at my company), I was able to relate to Tris and her frustrations. It felt so real and at times made me angry at my job too. While Rafe hasn't done anything to hurt Tris, he tends to be the focus of her frustrations because he is the male benefiting in the situation.

Tris and Rafe are the two employees that get sent on the three week long corporate retreat, and wouldn't you know it, when they get to the hotel there was a mistake and they have to share a hotel room.

This book was so funny, but it was also so raw and emotional, with a large dose of scorching heat. This is a slow burn in true Nisha fashion, but when the spice hits it is well worth the wait.

I received an advanced listener copy of this book as well as an advanced reader copy. I love switching back and forth based on what I'm busy doing, but also tandem reading. The audiobook was really well done and this narrator did an amazing job. This is single POV so it was one narrator and I feel like she did a great job at differentiating voices. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley. This book was an absolute joy to read!

I LOVED the setting of this so much, and the enemies to lovers tropes made this 100% better. I devoured this in one setting, and it was super easy to read!

I love The Trial of the Sun Queen and was so excited to read this contemporary romance by Nisha J. Tuli and of course she knocked it out of the park!

Trishara is a engineer at WMC Purcell who finally is getting some recognition for her work and being sent to Hawaii for a 3 week corporate retreat after years of being passed over for promotion. When she arrives she realizes she is stuck sharing a suite with her work nemisis, Rafe, the son of the owner of WMC.

I love how accurately this book dives into workplace drama and specifically the nepotism, unbalanced spending, and the micro and macro aggressions toward women and people of color. I also love Trish and Rafe's romance, slow at first but steamy as they got to know each other better. Gotta love a well executed forced proximity trope, especially in paradise. I also loved the friends and allies Trish had in her corner as she faced so much adversity from people around her. Also I loved the nods to Trial of the Sun Queen!

Tropes
* Workplace romance
* Forced Proximity
* Rivals to Lovers
* Slow Burn
* One Bed

Not Safe for Work is an incredible romcom debut - I never would have guessed it was her first one. I ADORED it.

The premise is very reminiscent of Ali Hazelwood's STEMinist books mixed with Sally Thorne's The Hating Game. Tuli shows us the best of both worlds with a STEM rivals to lovers workplace romance.

Not Safe for Work dives into all the things that women have to deal with while working in a male dominated industry. She discusses misogyny, sexism, and nepotism often and well (hello Khakis aka mediocre white men). As a fellow woman in STEM - I have to say that she nailed it. The micro-aggressions - assumptions that you'll "clean up" or be the "secretary" for no other reason than being the only woman in the room. The unwanted advances, the "talks" to tell you not to rock the boat or you'll make it worse for yourself. I can tell (unfortunately) that Nisha likely witnessed/experienced many of these things first hand to be able to describe them so perfectly.

The story follows Trishara, an engineer, and while it is most definitely a Romance book, I also feel like it has a lot of "coming of age" moments (except they're adults) with Tris realizing that she CAN have control over many things she thought were out of her reach in both her personal and professional lives.

Rafe and Tris have a lot of physical tension, I didn't feel like they were super emotionally connected a lot of the time though. But they definitely have the physical aspects down to a science. They have a lot of banter between one another that sometimes bordered on unrealistic but this is a Romance, who cares lol.

The main tropes within the book: rivals to lovers, workplace romance, only one bed, forced proximity

Rep within the book: side LGBTQ characters, interracial romance, WOC lead, women in STEM

Thank you to Forever for providing me with an advanced copy of this book! It was one of my most anticipated romances this year and I am so sad that it did not work for me. Early on, I found the FMC truly immature and honestly insufferable. She was rude to almost everyone and constantly her attitude was unprofessional, especially when on a work retreat. I was exhausted by her best friend who couldn’t stop talking about her dusty vajay, like what? I knew I would probably love Rafe most, but I didn’t have it in me to keep reading.

Oh this was FUN!!! and HOT!!!! I love a workplace romance and this hits all the sweet spots with perfect execution. Its funny and sexy and real and relatable and HOT and I just love tris and rafe so much. 10/10 would recommend. I know this author is primarily fantasy but i would LOVE to read more contemporary romances from her!!!

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⚡️/🌶️🌶️
🌺
This is a workplace rivalry set in a stem/engineering environment.
Trishara is constantly overlooked for promotions or lead positions due to her sex.
Rafe is the boss’s son and always gets the potions Tris wants. She hates him for it.
Plus he’s constantly glaring at her.
She hates that, too…but also kind of likes it; She is obsessed with hating him.

The company wants to promote a more inclusive environment and sends teams from all over the country to a work retreat in Hawaii. When they get there, there is “One Room”; there is a mix up with the rooms and Tris ends up in the same suite as Rafe.

Tension is high, and so is the undeniable attraction and pull towards each other.
🌺
This book is so fun. It’s like a mix of The Hating Game with Ali Hazelwood’s Steminist series (the Love Hypothesis).

It addresses the misogynistic environment within stem careers (which the author states some of the things in this book have happened to her in her personal life).

I loved the friendships with Lan and Gabrielle.

As a “bookstagramer”, I liked the nod to social media introduced within the story 🧁.

It’s a slower burn. But when it starts to get heated, it ranges! 🔥
🌺
Sigh! This book made me want to go back to Hawaii!

Thank you netgalley, forever and Hachette Audio for the free e-arc and alc. My opinions are being left voluntarily. This is my first Nisha tuili book and it won't be my last. I loved the character development I loved the chemistry I loved the engineering references and femmes in male places / spaces is a favorite to read. Shows strength and smarts. I didn't love the 3rd act breakup up and the lack of communication before hopping into bed or after... I will read the authors backlist immediately.

I also loved the narration I can listen to their voices all day.

4.5/5☆

I was so happy to receive this ARC. It was such a great book. I didn’t see Rafe as a baker, but omg I love that for him. I’m so happy they both got what they wanted. Also loved the side characters. It was so great to see a STEM representation in Tris. She is inspiring.

A fun romance that got me in the mood for a tropical vacation! Unfortunately, however, I got to the 50% mark before deciding to ultimately put it down for good. This was a book that I, for some reason, kept picking up and putting down because it wasn’t drawing me in. I don’t blame the book though. I think this is entirely a timing issue for me. Will still absolutely be picking this up at a later date!

My favorite part of this book was how Nisha recognized the inequities that women, especially in the STEM field encounter and the blatant sexism that continues to run rampant in the year 2025. Wake the fuck up people! This should not be happening and I hope this book not only brings people the joy of a good smutty book but the power of saying a big fat fuck you, Tris-style, to anyone who treats you or others in a similar manner. She wove this into Tris’ story in such a believable manner that I was also getting heated and was getting annoyed with the BS that was being spouted. It also hurt that Diane’s advice was just to bear it and grin. Like girl how are we supposed to pave the way if you climb to to the top and leave it be????? That makes no sense and was so disheartening but also the beginning wake up call Tris desperately needed. Unfortunately Paul’s role icked me out completely and totally gave Legally Blonde vibes when Callahan hit on Elle. DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR!!! and Sadly not just a thing in fictional works. I’m so proud of Tris for standing up and not letting them manipulate/use her to get ahead. Hannah also sucks for her line about being pretty for an Indian girl????? BITCH I’M ANGRY AGAIN. CAN TRIS CATCH A BREAK 😭

This book was fast paced and steamy and had so many funny and relatable moments, that I couldn’t help but laughing out loud at some of the things written. Tris and Rafe had CHEMISTRY (yes all caps!) and omfg the slow burn was SLOW BURNING. Only one bed for three weeks??? I would’ve caved on like day three if it were me. I’m a big forearm girly and tbh that would’ve gotten to me quicker than Rafe’s baking skills and Tris’ stunning outfits and brilliant mind. Also I genuinely fucking LOVED Tris’ development and her big email to the company. I’m so proud😪

That being said..

I think my biggest issue with this book is that Tris seems to delude herself over her attraction to Rafe. I think her feelings for the company and their unimpressive choices in promotions ran too close together for her to think straight, but it got to a point where I was like “it’s ok to say he’s hot! He doesn’t need to know yet!”. Also her and Rafe had such a hot cold relationship and like flipped back and forth from being like heated and angry to heated and lusty. I also didn’t enjoy how much Hannah had a story in the book as it took a bit away from Tristen and Rafe’s relationship from developing. Like why are you even here girl 😭 NO IS A FULL SENTENCE. but again Rafe didn’t have to pick up each call.

I think as far as a debut into the contemporary romance world, Nisha did a wonderful job!! This book was fast paced, steamy and fun and I can’t wait to see what other stories she has up her sleeve!

Thank you Forever for this ARC🥹💕

This was a fun forced proximity, workplace, enemies to lovers. I adored Tris. She was sassy when needed, vulnerable, and wasn't afraid to self reflect. I always love a book with women in STEM, and I liked how the author explored Tris' environment and her decision on what she was wanting out of her job. There was also lots of fun tension here with Rafe. He was a complicated character that added lots of depth to the budding romance here. This book was fun, and it'll be the perfect book for poolside or beach reading.

Not Safe for Work by Nisha Tuli was an absolute delight! This contemporary romance had everything I love—especially the “there’s only one bed” trope and a perfectly scrumptious slow-burn romance. I was hooked from the beginning and completely charmed by the chemistry between the characters.

What really stood out to me was how Nisha Tuli tackled the challenges women face in male-dominated workplaces. Her portrayal of misogyny and sexual harassment was honest, impactful, and so important. I truly appreciated the way she wove these real-world issues into such an engaging romcom.

Nisha Tuli’s writing continues to impress me, and the audiobook version of this one is fantastic—the narrator brought everything to life so well. I read the ARC and listened to the audiobook, and both experiences were excellent. Huge thanks to NetGalley, Nisha Tuli, and Forever Publishing for the gifted ARC. This one is definitely worth picking up!

This was everything I wanted it to be and more! The tension is savory, the quips and banter are delicious and the plot/writing/pacing are delectable! (See what I did there)! Enemies to lovers, work place, forced proximity, and it’s always been you! All the stars, read this one!
