I’ve heard amazing things about Nisha J Tuli’s romantasy series, which made me very excited for her romance debut. Plus, the cover is absolutely stunning!!

Unfortunately, this book did not hit the mark for me. The plot felt a bit lacking, and I couldn’t connect with the characters. The banter, which I was hoping would be witty and playful, ended up feeling like mean-spirited remarks instead. The relationship dynamic was extremely lust-driven, which left me feeling disappointed. I really wanted a more emotionally engaging connection between the two characters. The only thing I really learned about Rafe is how hot he is. This book was somehow so over-the-top cheesy and also so lustful at the same time, which was an odd mix.

I really appreciated the representation of women in stem and the experiences they go through within a male-dominated field.

As a woman in engineering who deals with sexist remarks, I’m all too familiar with the topic of sexism, BUT here, I felt like the emphasis on these remarks taking place overshadowed the potential for real growth or character development. Instead of focusing on how Trishara overcomes these challenges or proves these sexist (and false) beliefs wrong, the story got bogged down with constant examples of sexist comments. It felt like it was trying to make a statement but didn’t quite deliver the empowering moments I was hoping for.

Overall, this book just wasn’t for me. I definitely think it will resonate with other readers, and I hope my review doesn’t turn interested readers away!

Nisha J. Tuli has written the next must-read rom-com! This book is both fun and charming while addressing the very real issues that women - particularly women of color - face in the workforce, especially in male-dominated fields (love our powerhouse FMC Tris!). For anyone who enjoys rivals-to-lovers, workplace romance, women in STEM, and great banter, this should be your next read!

Thank you, NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), for this ARC!

This is for any woman who has worked or existed in a male dominated field.

I flew through it in about 24 hours. My only complaint really is that the entire relationship only forms over 3 weeks and I wish it had been a longer timeframe to feel more authentic

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advance reader copy of Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli.

Tris is an engineer who has worked for WMC for years when her promotion goes to the boss’s son, and her nemesis, Rafe. Tris gets selected to attend WMC’s corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii for three weeks. The opportunity may also help her get a spot in the company’s executive training program. What Tris doesn’t expect is to spend three weeks as Rafe’s roommate when it turns out there’s only one room left!

I’m obsessed. This was my first book by Nisha J. Tuli and I loved it!! I love the main character, Tris. The romance made me melt and Tris’s workplace storyline was so engaging. The conclusion was done so well. And Rafe! I loved these two together. The tension and chemistry was perfect for these two and I loved when they finally give into their feelings.

If you love rivals-to-lovers, workplace, forced proximity, there’s only one room/bed tropes, this is a book to check out!

I rarely rate a contemporary romance 5 stars, but this one deserves every star I gave it! While all contemporary romances tend to be pretty predictable, Not Safe For Work still managed to be unputdownable. The characters were fun and for the most part not too cheesy. IMO MMCs in books like this are almost overly written for women, and while there were *some* lines from Rafe that made me roll my eyes, he was pretty swoon worthy. Working in corporate America, I also loved the light this book shines on the misogyny that still runs rampant in a lot of organizations. Overall, this was a super fun read I’d recommend to friends as perfect for a poolside vacation. (I also loved Nisha’s cameo of Artefacts of Ouranos in the airport scene LOL!)

This was a quick, fun romcom that reminded me of Ali Hazelwood's earlier books with the STEM storyline. It includes some of my favorite tropes: he falls first, one bed, work romance, brooding hero, close proximity, and enemies to lovers. Even though at times it seemed the characters were immature, they had amazing banter and I was rooting for them. Once they got together, there was definitely some spice! It would be a good book to read on vacation.

Spiciness: 3/5 🌶️

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the ARC!

Thank you to Forever, NetGalley, and Nisha Tuli for the eARC of Not Safe For Work in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

As a woman in STEM, I found this book very engaging and it really resonated with me. Tuli beautifully balanced the issues that women, especially BIPOC women, face in the work place in fields that have historically been male dominant.

I loved Trishara for her confidence, sass, and strength. Rafe was strong and supportive, and I truly and enjoyed the growth that the characters experience over the course of this novel. The end was incredibly satisfying. This book made me want to get back to Maui immediately.

This was the first book of Nisha J. Tuli's that I have read, but it will not be the last!

This is my first book by Nisha that wasn’t a fantasy so I wasn’t sure what to expect. That being said, I quite enjoyed this book!

Tris was such a strong FMC in a male dominated field and I loved that she didn’t back down and advocated for herself. I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Tris and Rafe evolve and the banter and the tension between these two were electric.
Overall, this was a cute read and I think Tris’s resignation letter will go down as one of my favorite resignation letters of all time.

Thank you Forever and Netgalley for the arc.

So thankful to NetGalley and Forever publishing for this eARC. This was such a cute fast and fun read and what an amazing first contemporary romance for this author, her writing is amazing! I loved that this was more than just a romance novel but also shed light on women in STEM, the glass ceiling and the struggles of women in a male domino field. The FMC was so fierce and resilient and the MMC was such a cinnamon roll! 5 stars!!! Can’t wait to read what Nisha writes next!!!

This story follows Trishara Malik, a brilliant engineer who is fed up with prejudices at her current work place. She receives an opportunity to ‘prove’ herself at a corporate retreat in Hawaii. The caveat: she’s forced to share the time with her rival, Rafe Gallagher. Cue funny hijinks and many romance worthy tropes as Trishara and Rafe toe the line between love and hate.
For all its light-heartedness, this book continues to uncover the whole aspect of workplace discrimination and disregard for intelligence because of gender. With regard to the romance, I found the dynamic between the two main characters to be a prolonged push and pull which caused some parts of the book to be repetitive. This was also seen with regard to constant miscommunication.
Overall, there were light, funny, wholesome and swoony elements that anyone can enjoy!

Nisha Tuli’s debut in the rom-com genre is nothing short of a triumph. I swooned, I sighed, and I completely fell in love with the main characters. From the witty banter to the heartwarming moments, I was hooked from start to finish. This book is everything I want in a rom-com—charming, fun, and utterly captivating.

As a STEM girlie and lover of all things romance, I couldn’t get enough of Trishara, the FMC. She’s fierce, confident, and knows exactly what she wants, which I find incredibly sexy. She doesn't take any nonsense and stands her ground in a world that often overlooks women like her. It’s empowering and refreshing to see a character like her lead the story.

The banter between the characters is spot-on, the chemistry is undeniable, and the spice? Nisha serves it up on a golden platter, and I devoured every bit of it. I couldn’t put the book down, and I was completely immersed in the journey.

This book marks a delightful departure from Nisha's usual high-stakes, anxiety-inducing, action-packed romantasy novels. It’s sweet, lighthearted, and yet it doesn’t shy away from addressing the very real, relatable challenges that come with navigating a boys' club like engineering and the cutthroat nature of office politics. It’s a beautiful balance of fun and depth, and I loved every page.

Thank you Forever pub for providing this book for review consideration.

Shout out to women in STEM, especially women in engineering. This book was very tropey but I enjoyed it none the less. If you like the adversaries to lover, workplace, forced proximity, only one bed you'll probably enjoy this one.

I loves Tris's character. Even though she felt burnt out and lost her professional ambition at first, she was strong, confident in her abilities & didn't let mediocre men say sh*t to her. Rafe was fine. His personality felt a little inconsistent. I think this story could have benefitted from having his POV.

Overall, this was sweet, spicy, and fluffy. I think this is a great palette cleanser book, with a little depth.

Forced proximity goodness! This was a trope-y feast (enemies to lovers! only one bed! workplace romance!) and it was also deliciously spicy and fun, but also with real, meaningful discussion on sexism and racism in the workplace. It’s a slow burn…until it’s not. Tris and Rafe are hot, hot, hot! Not safe for work INDEED!

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was SO FUN !!!! The tension and slow build up to Rafe and Tris was SOOOOO delicious! I loved how nuanced the tough conversations were and delicately they were handled, while still being impactful. I adored Tris and her development, and I loved the surprise about Rafe! All in all, this was truly delightful and I cannot wait to talk about it more because I really had the best time reading this one!!

This was my first read by Nisha J Tuli and I was so charmed, I cannot wait to read more!

This is a workplace romance done right! We have two people who have been competing and at odds for years who end up sharing a room at a three week long work retreat.

We have: forced proximity, one bed, rivals to lovers, touch her and ☠️, scared x comfort, and crazy insane tension.

On top of the fiery romance, there is a story that so many women and people of color can relate to when working corporate jobs. Micro aggressions, racism, sexism, misogyny, and lack of opportunities/promotions due to all of the above. This story is as empowering as it is romantic.

I was in a reading slump and this book got me right out of it! I couldn’t put it down!

🏵 rivals to lovers
🍹one bed
🏵 banter
🍹 work place romance
🏵 touch her you ☠️
🍹 slow burn

Wow the tension in this book.... ohhhhh girlll!!! Yes please.
I loved it. I loved all of this.
First let me say how nice it was for book to be about a women in stem dominating her field , while also not letting anyone get away with sexiest or racist behavior. Tris was not letting anyone tell her she didn't belong! I feel the author did such a great job at representing this 👏
The story had a beautiful flow, the banter was top of the line, we have a feisty FMC, and the spice was 🥵🙌
What else do you need to pick up this book?!

Thanks to Nisha J. Tuli, NetGalley, and Forever Pub for this eARC, in exchange for my honest review.

Trishara and Rafe were absolutely epic.
This was my first book by Nisha J. Tuli and I left its pages a huge fan! This made me so nostalgic for the romances I began reading in 2021 and it just gave me so much joy to watch them get together. They had so much energy, tension and chemistry. I loved watching them burn for each other. The sex scenes were romantic and hot and Rafe was the greenest of green flags. sometimes in rivals to lovers it's hard to tell if the man actually LIKES the woman he's pining after, and he delivered.
One very important topic this book delves into is racism and sexism in the workplace, something I am also familiar with and which Nisha Tuli handled extremely well. I am nothing if not a huge fan of badass women who stand up for themselves.
Really looking forward to other romances by this author and I definitely want to check out her fantasy series!

This is my first book from her and even though I didn't really care for this specific book, I still want to read her other work.
I can handle some miscommunication but I feel like it was literally the whole book. They can't stand each other because they both assumed one didn't like the other which is so trivial when you think about it. Tris can't make up her mind on if she wants to give Rafe a chance, and then goes out on a date with some douche named Andy. Rafe can't stand that she's giving this guy the time of day and goes all caveman on him every time Tris and Andy are together.

feel like this book had a lot of potential and then it just kinda fell flat. The pacing for NSFW was all over the place, we didn't really get answers for why the MC's acted the way that they did, and it's like we didn't get backstories for any of them.

This was fun! Workplace romance but on vacation (it was a work trip, but it was set in Hawaii, so....vacation!). I loved the insight of women - and women of color - in male dominated fields but also how nepo babies rule business.

While I enjoyed this story and felt compelled to read, I don't think a lot of new ground was covered with this book. Some depth was missing and the overall character arcs didn't feel that fulfilling by the end.

I was definitely rooting for Tris, but the real spark always felt a little flat between her and the MC.

I was so looking forward to a new type of book from Nisha Tuli since I was a huge fan of the Artefacts of Ouranos series recently. This was described as a workplace rivalry to romcom featuring a woman in STEM who fights against racism and the patriarchy. I was ready for it!!

Trishara and Rafe have the most hilarious rivalry. And there’s a fine line between love and hate. These two constantly jump over that line and back throughout this story.

I really appreciated the author’s note about how this reflected a lot of her workplace experiences and it added another level of depth to Trishara’s struggles in her field of work.

Read this! If you love strong women in STEM and/or of color - Trishara’s your girl! And Rafe and his forearms are a bonus too!
