An interesting start to a series, a richly developed world which takes joy in poking at the inconsistencies and double standards of male and female relationships and sexuality. Looking forward to more.

This was the queen romance that I didn't know I needed. The artwork was beautiful and the story was engrossing and had me reading well into the night when I should've gone to bed.

I loved the art within this one!
I enjoyed the characters a lot and cannot wait to continue their story!

I love the art. It is such a pretty book. The premise sounded great, but it just didn't work for me. There was so much set up I just wanted to get to the story. I will probably pick up volume 2 just to see if I like it more.

This is an incredibly original and amusing story. It hooks you from the first chapter and then backtracks to lead you to the conclusion. Unlike others in the genre, it doesn't take 100 chapters to get to the hook which is refreshing. It's dynamic and fun, with characters you want to learn more about. The art is beautiful, with varied designs.

I really enjoyed this story! I had read a few chapters on the webcomic before I got approved to write a review from the publisher and was hooked from the start. It is definitely a darker fantasy romance comic, but so well done. The art style is stunning (full color if you were curious) and the characters felt fully fleshed out. Latil is a badass and I would love to have even half of her skill when I grow up. She is able to plan her way into making her ex regret everything in such a badass manner. Her five lovers aren't too shabby either.

Though I think my favorite part is just how exasperated she gets with the men at times. It is almost like dealing with a bunch of bickering children. I can't wait for the next volume!

A great start!

Latrasil Valentine Tarium is no push over. The man she loved for years has decided to marry the daughter of a political ally in order to stabilise his own kingdom. He expects Latrasil to wait for him for five years and then he will divorce his bride and marry Latrasil. Seriously, what a selfish, arrogant toad!

But Latrasil’s life waits for no man and she is now empress of her own kingdom. And she decides to embrace her own historical customs and have a harem.

Not one man, but five.

And so begins her journey of navigating life, love and politics with not one man but five!

This is a great start to a series which is about political intrigue, love and the heart. Excellent characters, great artwork and a gripping story about breaking norms and forging a way forward for yourself in a world that expects you to conform. I really enjoyed this first volume.

Thank you so much for letting me read this manga. I really liked it and I am curious how the story continues.

I was so excited to read the physical version of a webtoon I used to read on my phone. This volume gave a great background of Emperor Latrasil and how she came into power. I support women’s rights and wrongs! Emperor Latrasil’s plot for revenge on an old flame and opposing stuffy advisors at the same time has 100% of my support. I’m so excited to read more about the harem. There’s already so much personality, and not everyone has been introduced yet!

This is exactly the kind of Queen romance drama that I love to eat up. Latrasil is ruthless and she is making a point of running things exactly the way she wants to run them. This webtoon is funny, chaotic, and full of drama. I love this take on a reverse Harem. She deserves to have as many consorts as she likes.

I love the different personalities of all the characters. I can already tell from this first volume that the relationships she will build with all the different men in her harem is going to be so much fun.

‘Men of the Harem’ is a story I recommend reading when you want to have a fun time. It’s a story that will put the smile of revenge on your face. It is truly feminine joy.

Latrasil Valentine Tarium is soothing a broken heart after the love of her life decides to marry someone else. Not only did she have to hear the news from someone else, but he also had the nerve to ask for her to wait five years for him. In the midst of everything, Latrasil learns that her older brother is abdicating and that she will be inheriting the throne when her father passes. Throwing herself into her studies, she also hatches a revenge plan. She’s going to take multiple consorts once she’s emperor, and then make her ex select one of her consorts. Oh my!

While this wasn’t what I was expecting, it was still a pretty good read. We follow Latrasil from the time that she meets her first love up until she’s a scorned woman ready to put her revenge plan into effect. It was more serious than I was expecting, and politics ended up being a much larger plot than I was expecting. However, it’s not always serious. There’s some pretty funny events, which allows us to see another side to the characters. I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to seeing where the story goes from here. Plus, the artwork is stunning! If an art book for the series came out somewhere down the line, I would be all over it.

This was an interesting take on a woman using the harem system for her own ends. Lots of spice and intrigue. I quite enjoyed it.

This is interesting. We have a world with emperors and princesses and knights. A world at war. We have a princess who becomes the emperor and decides that if the men can have concubines and multiple consorts, why can’t she. And we read what took place before when she was a princess up to and through her becoming the emperor and starting her court. This is full of intrigue and a mystery. It’s part Game of Thrones without all the blood. Very approachable and very interesting. I await volume two to see where it goes from here.

First I would like to thank NetGalley, the Author, the Artist and the publisher for this ARC.

...
This one intrigued me!
It's obvious from the start that there is more to the story than they let on.
We get some depth and background but I still believe there is so much more that still needs to be discovered.
I like the the reversed harem and the boss lady tropes that are part of the story.
Although "Klein" did get a bit on my nerves...
Also there is absolutely more to our FMC than they led on. She gives of "damsel in distress" and "teenage heartbreak" with some "villainess in disguise" vibes.
The art is on point with the story.
Some of the characters could use a bit more depth or growth, but we are early on in the story so I guess they will also progress with the story.

Looking forward to the second volume.

Reverse harem?
Prince betraying his true love for power?
Princess becoming Emperor because her brother and step brother are jerks?
The best move of all: Emperor asking a consort from her ex boyfriend.
This was so fun to read... I can't wait for Vol 2, where I expect the political intrigue to begin :)

I have been following this series ever since it's first published on Webtoon. Excited to see this is being published as book series now!
The story follows Latil, a powerful empress that defies tradition by forming her own harem. Love the developed characters of each men and its own back story.
Yeongbin's art is gorgeous! the amount of detail on the drawings are just vibrant and exquisite!
I will recommend this for readers that enjoys intricate plots (esp court politics!), power plays and slow burn romance. If you like Remarried Empress (another excellent manhwa by Alphatart!) or Your Throne with a strong female main characters.
Really enjoyed this volume 1! glad i can collect this manwha as physical copy!

I'm not overly familiar with manhwa, so when Men of the Harem first volume collection popped up on NetGalley with a pretty interesting premise I put in a request!

The whole almost 300 page volume is in full color with a range of character designs making it really easy to tell everyone apart (which could be, and has been, a concern in similar concepts). Likewise, although in volume 1 we don't know much about any of the men vying to be part of the five-man starting harem, we learn a lot about Latil's motivations and the beginnings of at least some of these men. Most of this volume is backstory (and gorgeous outfits) leading up to how Latil became emperor and how she's getting herself together a harem of consorts, so I think this'll be fun for people into fantasy royal politics and love-more-than-triangles.

Thank you to NetGalley and Yen Press/Ize Press for the eARC in exchange for review!

Yen / Ize Press didn’t approve me until the archival date so I used Webtoon to read this instead. Very beautiful art with an interesting / unique female main character design. Typical Webtoon villainess revenge story, but I like how easy it is to follow. And I love me some why choose! Would recommend and I hope to continue the series. :)
