When I requested this gem I didn't know anything about it. I loved the cover and supporting Aussie authors is my hobby!
I was hoping for a strong FMC with a hint of romance & that is exactly what I got!
Alex was such a strong, put together and overall badass of a main character. I adored her love for designer things as I have a soft spot for pretty items I can't afford. I loved how we saw her really shine and rise above anyone who didn't believe her worth!
With Ash London's background I wonder how true to life this story surrounding radio is.
I thought the romance aspect was really well written. It did not take away from Alex's personal journey nor her career. It was very well balanced.
And her BFF Tom! Was utterly hilarious. He was the perfect addition and I definitely giggled a few times.
Overall a lovely read and very privileged to have been accepted for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. 💓

A fun and easy to read rom-com with lots of joy! It was so heartwarming, funny and a beautiful story.
I really enjoyed reading the book.
Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher Allen & Unwin for a wonderful ARC.

WOW! This book blew me away, not only is Ash London a Debut Author but an Australian Debut Author, how she hasn't been writing books for long is beyond me!
I can't honestly say I have felt more connected to a book before, the references and jokes all landed on me and it kept me wanting to read more.
The storyline (without spoiling anything) was interesting and not something that I have come across before which kept me thoroughly entertained.
I have to say my favourite character had to be her producer/bestie Tom, he had me laughing so hard and wanting him to be my best friend!
I found myself reading slower because I didn't want the book to end and I honestly CANNOT wait for the next book from Ash London because I will be pre ordering it ASAP.

Love on the Air was fun to read and made me happy so 4.5 stars rounded up to 5. It was definitely a slow burn romance and battled some big issues, including sexism and death.
It was interesting to see how the 'other side live' (you know, the very rich!), with Alex getting her dream job and mega income to go with it. There was a cast of fun characters and it was great to see Alex's relationship with them, especially Tom - her work bestie, her other bestie Vanessa, her Aunt May and Uncle Billy - who she lives with, and of course her new boss - Leo - her romantic interest. I loved getting a glimpse into radio life.
I loved the Sydney setting but with some travel to mix it up with Alex being in the Phillipines at the begining of the book and a work trip to London. Great story.

What a fabulous book to end the month on! I absolutely adored this one!!
Alex is a super star radio presenter that everyone loves, she goes through a bit of a rocky patch then comes back better than ever! Her new gig is an opportunity of a lifetime, and we are taken on this fun filled journey, with lots of laughs and so much love!
Apart from the horrible colleague and patronising CEO, there are some fantastic characters in this book! Alex is supported by so many wonderful people in her life, it just filled my heart with so much joy! Every character charmed me, they were witty and fun. There were some cracking one liners!
But Leo, oh Leo, what a man! Ah he was perfection and I loved these two, their banter, chemistry and interactions were pure entertainment!
I don’t wear designer clothes and I don’t earn an astronomical amount of money like Alex, but this book was so relatable!
And boy was it a lot of fun! I giggled so much, I smiled the whole way through, (although at one point I was very mad) shed happy tears then smiled some more!
My heart is so happy, giving this all the stars and highly recommend it!
Thank you so much @allenandunwin and @netgalley for the early copy.

Love on the Air by debut author Ash London is a beautiful book full of fun, cute, sweet and emotional moments. I enjoyed Alex's journey through out this novel and loved the behind the scenes insights of the breakfast radio world. I love the enemies to lovers plot line between Alex and Leo, it didn't feel rushed or choppy, it is written to absolute perfection. Tom and Finley are definitely my favorite side characters, their antics always made me laugh. It is safe to say that this book is definitely my favorite read of March and will certainly make it into my top 10 reads of 2025.

This debut novel was cute, sweet and inspiring. I enjoyed following Alex’s journey and laughed at pretty much all of Tom’s one liners. If you enjoy a closed door office romance that takes you behind the scenes of breakfast radio, then this book is for you 🩷

Love on the Air by Ash London (eARC)
Release date: 1 April 2025
Short Synopsis:
After a messy breakup, radio DJ Alex York quits her job and retreats to a tropical island. But when she returns to Sydney with a dream breakfast radio gig, she faces workplace sabotage, fierce rivalries, and a slow-burn romance with her dangerously charming boss. Alex must prove she belongs without losing herself.
My Thoughts:
Love on the Air quickly became a book I couldn’t put down. It blends ambition, romance, and female solidarity perfectly. Alex is a witty, driven protagonist, and I loved rooting for her as she grew both personally and professionally.
The friendships stood out to me, especially Alex's dynamic with her producer Tom, which was funny and heartwarming. Her mentorship with Goldie added a powerful layer of female empowerment, making the story feel more than just a romance.
As for the romance, I loved how it developed. The slow-burn chemistry between Alex and Leo kept me hooked, and the playful banter between them had me grinning. Their boss-employee dynamic was handled so well, respectful and natural, without the awkwardness that can sometimes come with that trope. By the time their connection deepened, I was fully invested in them.
The behind-the-scenes look at the radio industry was fascinating, and I appreciated how the book touched on gender dynamics without overshadowing its light-hearted tone. While the brand-name dropping was a bit much at times, it helped set the scene, and in fact, Alex kind of reminded me of Rebecca Bloomwood in Confessions of a Shopaholic, with her love for shopping and navigating her personal and professional life in a similar chaotic, yet charming way.
Overall, Love on the Air is a fun, heartwarming read, perfect for fans of workplace romances and strong female friendships.
Overall Rating:

Overview
Ash London’s debut novel is fun, heartwarming, and surprisingly impactful. It follows Alex York, a young radio host who, after a messy breakup, finds herself thrown into the opportunity of a lifetime—taking over a coveted radio spot from her idol, Goldie. With her best friend Tom encouraging her return, a very attractive new boss in Leo, and the high-pressure world of broadcasting to navigate, Alex quickly learns that this isn’t just another job. Think Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic meets The Bold Type, with a behind-the-scenes look at the cutthroat radio industry.
What I Loved
✔ A fresh and entertaining premise – The insider look at radio presenting was so interesting, and I loved how Ash London used her own industry experience to bring authenticity to the story.
✔ Alex York is such a relatable FMC – Her chaotic shopping habits? Way too real. The way she throws herself into her work while running from her problems? Been there. She reminded me of myself in my 20s (minus the designer vintage backpacks).
✔ The romance was the perfect slow burn – The workplace tension between Alex and Leo was so good, and I loved the will-they-won’t-they dynamic. Bonus points for no third-act breakup!
✔ Strong female friendships & women supporting women – Every female character in this book goes through something, and I loved seeing them uplift and root for each other.
✔ A balance of lighthearted fun & deeper themes – While it’s definitely a romance, Love on the Air also touches on sexual harassment, gender inequality in the workplace, and grief, adding depth to the story without feeling heavy-handed.
What Held It Back from 5 Stars?
➖ Some of the sexism in the radio industry was jaw-dropping, and while it was handled well, it was still frustrating to read at times. Not a flaw in the book itself, but definitely something to be aware of!
➖ I personally would have loved just a bit more development in Leo’s character—he was dreamy, but I wanted to get inside his head more.
Final Thoughts
This was such an engaging, feel-good read that had me laughing, swooning, and even a little ragey at times. If you love smart, career-driven heroines, slow-burn romance, and strong female friendships, this is definitely worth picking up. I’ll absolutely be watching out for Ash London’s next book!

Love On The Air is an ode to the workplace rom-com. It’s witty, funny, and empowering. It deals in love and loss, about understanding our flaws and wanting to improve on them, about taking your time with things in this age of fast lifestyles.
At first I was finding it hard to relate to Alex York (which is obviously a play on Ash London’s name, an A name and a major city in the UK) because of her wealth and taste for the expensive. I hesitate to spend $20 on a T-shirt, let alone what Alex spends. Yet somehow, just like she did with Leo, she won me over. I think it’s because deep down, every person reading a romance has once had their heart broken and wanted to do the best and be the best that they can be after a break up. Give the people that hurt us a big fuck you, followed by the bird.
Alex is unapologetically fierce, capable, and strong and I love that she stands up for her beliefs. I love the slow way that she and Leo fall in love; that comfortable friends to lovers trope that I’m often not the biggest fan of but works so well here.
Alex and I are the same age and what I wouldn’t give to have the same confidence that she has got. She’s really inspired me and I give full credit to Ash London and her team at Allen & Unwin for that inspiration.
Fear or love — I’m gonna choose love every time now.

Love on the Air, the sparkling debut from Australian radio star Ash London, delivers a fun, high-energy enemies-to-lovers romance set in the fast-paced world of broadcasting. When rising radio talent Alex York spectacularly tanks her career, she escapes to a tropical island—only to be lured back to the mic for the comeback of a lifetime.
I'll admit it took me a little while to warm up to Alex. At first, her obsession with high-end fashion and flashy spending made her feel a bit over-the-top and hard to connect with. But as the story unfolded, I grew to love her vibrant personality. Leo, her grumpy boss-turned-love interest, provided the perfect contrast, creating an irresistible push-pull dynamic between them.
The romance itself is sweet and slow-burning, with a forbidden love twist—Leo is technically Alex’s boss, adding a layer of tension. If you're looking for spice, this one leans more on the cozy and heartfelt side. That said, the pacing of their relationship felt natural, and best of all—no dreaded third-act breakup!
The supporting cast adds so much charm. Who wouldn’t want to be BFFs with a star like Finley or have a work husband like Tom? The novel also weaves in sharp but seamless commentary on sexism in the workplace and media, making important points without feeling heavy-handed.
Overall, Love on the Air is a well-written, entertaining debut filled with fun characters, heartfelt moments, and a romance that keeps you hooked. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to see what Ash London writes next!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Allen & Unwin for providing me this ARC to review.

Arc Review - Love On The Air by Ash London 🎧
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This debut novel by Ash London was so so charming. It was fun, relatable and so quintessentially Australian without being cringe.
We meet our FMC Alex as she disassociates on an island in the Phillipines post break up and honestly, chefs kiss.
Alex is chaotic, smart, witty and incredibly relatable as she navigates her career in the male dominated world of radio. This slow burn romance was charming, heartfelt and so deliciously complicated.
Love On The Air was a fun and easy read. I laughed, I cried and I felt. The story was fun, the banter delightful and the characters were incredibly likeable. I ate it up.
Thank you Ash, Allen & Unwin and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read & review Love On The Air. All opinions are my own.
I couldn’t put it down.

Once I started this book I just couldn’t put it down. Love on the Air is a romcom about second chances, workplace romance, chosen family and women finding their power.
Alex York the FMC is just sooo relatable, like who doesn’t love impulse shopping? And Leo her new boss who’s reserved and hard to read.
This is a super slow burn, every moment had me going will they or won’t they?!!!
Apart from the love story I really enjoyed the friendship between Alex and Tom, I definitely need a Tom in my life…and a Finley! They are so flamboyant and crazy it had me giggling.
Although it’s a romcom, the story addresses an important topic of women coming into power - the difficulties of women having to navigate in a world run by the boys club and breaking the glass ceiling. As a corporate girlie and having this happen to me, it was great to see a positive story!

This is such a fun read that reiterates just how much I love romance. Alex, our FMC, has so much personality, which makes her the perfect radio host. Radio is an industry I’ve always been interested in, so I loved getting a taste of it.
The romance between Alex and Leo was cute and sweet. There is an element of forbidden romance with him turning out to be her boss, but it’s clear that they are both falling for each other, even though the book is only Alex’s POV.
While this is a romance, the relationship between Alex and Leo is almost secondary to Alex’s first love, her career. She gets a second chance and a big break, and she’s determined to do her best. She even starts to look at managing her finances, which for a shopaholic, is a big thing.
With her success, she unfortunately comes up against sexism in the workplace, with certain men not thinking she is deserving of her position. This just makes you want to back Alex even more and want to see her succeed.
I had so much fun reading this and can’t wait to see if Ash writes any more books.

I’m afraid this one was a DNF for me.
The narrative voice was a bit to all over the place that I just struggled to get a bearing on who Alex was. I found all the designer and brand references really jarring and took away from the building of the character, although maybe that was the authors intent, to build up a wall of materialism around her to then see some character growth later. But I just found it a bit too much and I was not engaged enough to get through and keep trying.
I only got three chapters in and I just could not continue.

What a charming and delightful debut by Ash London. With its well-paced action and a vivacious heroine, I was glued. I really appreciated the author's experience working in radio and the seamless way she was able to explain how radio works and the way the boys club operates. (Though I do think there's a bit of fulfillment because everything I've read about Australian commercial radio is even more cutthroat.)
Romance-wise normally I would steer clear of boss/underling stories (I just can't get over the power differential), but in this case it wasn't like that. I loved the friendship with her producer Tom and the way Goldie and Alex championed the women junior to them. My only quibble, is, while I get Alex and Tom were into designer gear (clothes do reveal lots of about people), I think there was too many descriptions of what they were wearing since we got the idea they love beautiful clothes.
Highly recommended and I look forward to the next book.
Thanks to Allen & Unwin for the ARC.

What a glorious debut book, such a joy to read on a Sunday relaxing at home. Focusing on Alex, who quit radio after a messy break up, who the goes back to radio, with her on air partner Tom who is all kinds of fabulous. Then there’s their boss Leo, who initially they aren’t keen on. This is a light read, with an emotional line running through it. I loved the characters, especially the fabulousness of Alex and Tom and loved the book overall.

This book was a fun filled romance that I really enjoyed. Great debut by Ash London.
Alex annoyed me a bit with her shopaholic ways, however was still incredibly loveable.

In the beginning of this one I have to say I was bit worried I wasn’t going to enjoy it purely because the world that exists in this bool is not one I’ve ever been privy to - designer handbags, lavish lifestyles, friends with lots of money. I did find it hard to relate because of this.
However, the story itself was really quite a good one. Strong themes of women in male dominated industries, and powerful ones at that. I loved the relationship and real world issue representation despite the rich and famous nature of all of the characters.
I don’t know if I would have chosen this if I didn’t recognise the author, however I’m glad I did. It was enjoyable read and I think quite a few readers will love this one.
Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of this book for review.

4★!
This was such a fun, cute read! It had good humour, and the characters were fun.
I will admit, I struggled to connect to the FMC at the beginning as she’s very much into high end fashion, and I cannot relate to having much money, especially to doll out on clothes, but after I got over it, I really enjoyed her character!
The romance is light and fluffy, but also points out existing sexism within Australia (Aussie is basically my sibling country, as I’m from NZ!)
And Alex’s love interest, Leo?? Loved him!! I really liked the sort of “forbidden romance” trope as they work together, and the whole will they, won’t they, vibe I got. Also, bonus points for no third act breakup!
Overall, this was a fun, easy, enjoyable read that was well written and had fun characters! I definitely enjoyed it!
