Thanks to NetGalley and Second Sky for this advance readers copy, in exchange for an honest review. Queen of Shadows and Ruin is the fourth and final book in Nisha J. Tuli’s Nightfire Quartet and I was SO excited to read this ahead of its publication next week. I have absolutely loved this whole series and so, my hopes were high for this conclusion.

While this was not my favorite book in the series, it was still so enjoyable and fun to read. The characters, the setting, and the challenges all continued to entertain, to keep me on the edge of my seat, and to keep me crossing my fingers for a happy ending. I won’t add any spoilers but, I loved the ending and thought it was a great place to leave the series.

I will definitely be reading this author’s other romantasy book series and will be interested in anything else she puts out! Her world building is truly unlike anything I’ve read so far, with added folkloric elements and fantasy plot lines so well built, and the slow burn romance is the best compliment, with a great payoff! I’d absolutely recommend this series to other romantasy lovers and hope that more people pick up these books!

This was a roller coaster ride and just the best ending to one of my favorite series of all time!

This book started right where book 3 left off. It was full of twists and turns and reading this book felt like a rollercoaster ride. My emotions were up and down; there were moments I wanted to throw my kindle, and there were moments that I wanted to hug my kindle tight and never let it go.

This is such an epic fantasy romance series and exactly what I mean when I say I love Fantasy Romance. Zarya's story was so powerful to me and I loved watching grow throughout this series and I cried tears of joy finally getting to see her get her happily ever after. It was a long and hard journey, but our girl did that.

If you want to read an epic fantasy journey where the FMC finds her found family and also finds the kind of love that will make the biggest skeptic believe in love, then this is the series for you. It is a complete series now and every step of the way was just perfection.

Oh and did I mention there is a dragon shifter...

Thank you so much to Second Sky publishing and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book!

Queen of Shadows and Ruin is the final instalment in a highly addictive romantasy adventure. This is probably the best of the series as this book made me anxious at multiple points. Zarya finally faces her father and it’s everything I wanted it to be. People have commented that the pacing at this point is a bit slow, but I liked this, it was clear that Zarya was struggling to come to terms with the truth. This lead to some delays as she was grappling with her inner thoughts. So I felt this was a realist depiction of how this could play out if it was a real life scenario. The pace does certainly pick up and there are epic action scenes. There’s a final face off that I felt did end a bit too quickly for the build up but this is likely down to my personal preference.
Overall I thoroughly loved this series, its addictive qualities and the interesting characters. The romance is everything and I want to everyone to find a Rabin.
Everything is wrapped up by the end of the series too, including some side plots. This made for a highly satisfying read with no loose ends.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

“You’re gonna suffer… but you’re gonna be happy about it”
I was stressed, I was sweating but I liked that even the side chatters story lines wrap up. That always a pet peeve of mine 😂

Thank you to NetGalley and Second Sky for the e-arc!l in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own!

First, ugh, Nisha Tuli, I love your work. With this being the final book in the Nightfire Quartet, I just want to say this has been the BEST one in the series and I’m so glad to have been able to follow along in this journey!

This was a solid 4 star read for me! I greatly enjoyed the additional world building that was written as Zarya and Rabin explored a part of the kingdom we saw very briefly at the end of the previous book. I was super excited to finally read the inevitable meet up of Zarya and her father, Raja Abishek. This was a build up that was well worth the wait of the previous three books and I could feel the various conflicting emotions Zarya was feeling during this introduction.

I also felt the plot twist was well-written (albeit, a tad predictable) and I really liked getting the different POVs of the side characters!

Finally, my dear Rabin….I’m not sure how many times I can say I love him, but I will definitely try to convey this properly. The chemistry between him and Zarya is one of my favorites in the romantasy genre and I loved how the readers got to see more of their marriage and the new dynamic of their relationship.

One of my main gripes with this book was just how quick paced it was. I wish there were times the writing got to slow down and just embrace the moment it was in. There were also times that the writing felt a bit repetitive and drawn out in areas that could have moved a bit faster.

Some of the action scenes were also a bit confusing and harder to read due to not being able to fully picture what was happening. It felt more like being told, rather than being shown, in other scenes too.

Still, this is a very solid read and I definitely have been recommending this series to anyone new to romantasy and want to dive right in!

I cannot wait to see what else Nisha has in the works!

**3.5 STARS**

Content Warning: violence

+ Zarya and Rabin are together but they are visiting with her her father, Abishek, and her suspicions about him are spot on but she’s also trying to keep an open mind. They both have to navigate being in his kingdom, but Rabin is trying to convince himself that Abishek means them no harm. His instincts are very wrong. I do feel like this was the biggest challenge to befell Zarya and Rabin and they come through it all in the end. There are some spicy scenes between them.

+ Yasen, Zarya’s bestie, is with her in the beginning but they do split apart in the book because they he and Miraan have to return to Ishaan because of what’s happening there. So I think it’s nice that Yasen has his own big role in this story.

+ A lot of loose ends get tied up and there is even a few twists in the story.

~ I thought the story was a bit too long and dragged in the middle, especially because Abishek is trying to keep Zarya and Rabin in Andhera, and that was repetitive. Clearly, he was lying to them but Zarya gave him the benefit of the doubt. But I felt like that part could have moved faster.

Final Thoughts:

I think this books was a bit long and the middle slowed down but it does finish off with more action. But I do think this is a good conclusion to the Nightfire Quartet because it tied up all the loose ends. Zarya and Rabin’s love is as strong as ever as they rise to all the challenges against them. Overall, this was a solid addition to the series.

The fourth book in The Nightfire Quartet is absolutely satisfying. Ending a four-book fantasy series without feeling lost can be a challenge, but Nisha does an incredible job of tying everything together while keeping you hooked from start to finish. Every book has a purpose, with no dull moments or unnecessary filler. If you love romantasy, this series is a must-read—Nisha always creates memorable characters and a captivating storyline! I can’t help but hope for a spin-off featuring Yasen.

Thank you to NetGalley and Second Sky Books for providing an advanced reader’s copy 🤎

Queen of Shadows and Ruin is the final book in the series.

Zarya and Rabin finally make their way to Andhera and to King Abhishek and things turn out to be better than they expected. But there seems to be something wrong with their Bhandan and the King's promised to help fix it.

This was a good finale to Zarya and Rabin's story, however the first part dragged for too long. There were so many clues for Zarya and Rabin and they were still betrayed by the people they trusted, which made it even more frustrating to read. But I still enjoyed this book, the ending was truly satisfying.

Overall, a good ending to the series. It was a unique tale and I'm very thankful to NetGalley and Second Sky for allowing me to read and review this series.

In the end, I’m glad to see Rabin and Zarya and co receive a satisfying conclusion to their journey, though it was a bit of a labor to get there.

The first half of the book felt sluggish, and I wish the pacing would’ve been tighter. It left me wondering if this story might have benefitted from being spread across a trilogy, allowing for more room to explore the characters without feeling weighed down by a slow build.

Overall a fun series to read and I’d recommend. 3.5 stars.

What an end to the series!! Mysteries and loose threads wrapped up, more of Nisha’s brilliant and vibrant writing, an exciting adventure, a dazzling romance. What more could you want?

A great conclusion to a whirlwind of a series. I’ll miss Zarya, Rabin, and Yasen — I’ve become so invested their lives! But I hope that we revisit their characters and the world Nisha has built with maybe a future spinoff!

Queen of Shadows and Ruin
By Nisha J Tuli

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nisha J Tuli’s books always start with a bang and as per usual I was instantly hooked. There was so much action in this story and it was just the perfect ending to the quartet.

I fell even more in love with Zarya in Queen of Shadows and Ruin! Tuli writes such inspiring women and I love reading about every single one but I think Zarya may just be my favorite.

I am so grateful I got to read this series and especially that I got to read most of it as arc reads! I cannot wait to read the next Nisha J Tuli novel!

First off, thank you NetGalley, Second Sky, and Nisha Tuli for the opportunity to read this book. I love all of Nisha’s books and this one was no exception.

This was such an amazing conclusion is Zarya’s story and one I really didn’t want to end. I loved that even in the 4th book Nisha’s expanded the world even more taking us to Andhera. We learned and experienced so much with Zarya & Rabin that I was truly on the edge of my seat the whole time! Nisha just has such a way of crafting a story the she pulls you all the way in and truly immerses you in that world. It’s honestly an amazing experience reading her books.

Rabin & Zarya continue to have my whole heart. The love these two have for each other and the sacrifices they make for one another had me in tears. The spicy moments were perfect, but the soft moments were the heart of this story. Zarya & Yasen still hold the place for best BFF’s! The bond those two share is like no other.

I am so sad that this is the end of my journey with these characters. I have loved every single minute I spent with them over the last 4 books. Thank you again, to NetGalley and the publishers for this book. It was such a honor to read.

5 glimmering stars made of Nightfire!

Nisha J Tuli has done it again. Queen of Shadows and Ruin takes us on a ride as the Nightfire Quartet concludes in an epic fashion. There was heartbreak, and real satisfaction in the events leading up to the ending of the series. If you’ve found Nisha through the Artefacts of Ouranos series then you will also love this one!

- Heartbreak
- Betrayal
- New loves
- Daddy issues
- Dragon shifter romance
- Found family

Thank you to Nisha J Tuli, Second Sky books and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Queen of Shadows and Ruin is a beautiful ending to the The Nightfire Quartet series. Nisha is a master at character development and ensuring that every plot point serves a purpose. Queen of Shadows is no different in that every characters' decisions and actions align with their overall purpose in the story. I enjoyed seeing how all of these complex and layered plot points came together and were resolved.

Although this series was a love story between Zarya and Rabin, it was also a story about familial love, especially with Zarya's found family. The friendship that developed over the series between Zarya and Yasen is one of my favorite found family friendships of any series. They were there to not only support each other but to challenge each other as well which was an essential element of their character development. An added bonus was seeing them both get their HEAs.

With The Nightfire Quartet, and especially Queen of the Shadows and Ruin, Nisha J. Tuli has solidified herself as one of my must-read authors.

This was a stunning ending to a fantastic series. I love how invested I became in ALL of the characters, main and not. Zarya and Rabin are two unforgettable characters, and as happy as I was for them, I was sad that this was the end.

Okay, I don’t trust the king (Zarya’s dad) at all. I swear he’s poisoning Rabin and messing with their connection. And I *hate* that they’re apart so much STILL. I get it, I do, but without even the dream plane, they barely interact for the first 30%?!

The tension in this one is not the fun kind—it’s like this looming dread, and my brain and body hate suspense. We know something bad is coming (please, not the bond being removed), but we don’t know when. And on top of that, everyone feels just a little off—like they’re dulled versions of themselves. Zarya isn’t questioning things, Rabin is way too subdued, and even Yasen isn’t his usual witty self.

Thankfully, around 50%, the tension snaps and it’s action-packed until the end. And honestly? I ended up really enjoying it! Book 4 in a series is so hard to be a 5-star read, but it’s still a series I’d recommend to romantasy lovers. Solid 4 stars. I will miss these characters even though Rabin wasn’t as intense as I wanted—I needed more *burn the world down*, and he was a little too passive and Zarya did a *lot* of crying. But to be fair, she was still kicking ass through the tears, so it wasn’t whiny, just… a lot.

We do get a nice little HEA, and most storylines get wrapped up (though some more neatly than others). For how important Amrita and Vikram were early on, their ending was like… a single page? Not mad, just *meh*.

There are spicy moments, but they’re also going through it, so it’s not super heavy. The one dream plane scene felt a bit icky to me, maybe even a little triggering, so heads up for that.
