5 glimmering stars made of Nightfire!
Nisha J Tuli has done it again. Queen of Shadows and Ruin takes us on a ride as the Nightfire Quartet concludes in an epic fashion. There was heartbreak, and real satisfaction in the events leading up to the ending of the series. If you’ve found Nisha through the Artefacts of Ouranos series then you will also love this one!
- Heartbreak
- Betrayal
- New loves
- Daddy issues
- Dragon shifter romance
- Found family
Thank you to Nisha J Tuli, Second Sky books and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Wow, this ride has made me feel every emotion possible and I can say this was a beautiful and well done ending to it.

Queen of Shadows and Ruin is a beautiful ending to the The Nightfire Quartet series. Nisha is a master at character development and ensuring that every plot point serves a purpose. Queen of Shadows is no different in that every characters' decisions and actions align with their overall purpose in the story. I enjoyed seeing how all of these complex and layered plot points came together and were resolved.
Although this series was a love story between Zarya and Rabin, it was also a story about familial love, especially with Zarya's found family. The friendship that developed over the series between Zarya and Yasen is one of my favorite found family friendships of any series. They were there to not only support each other but to challenge each other as well which was an essential element of their character development. An added bonus was seeing them both get their HEAs.
With The Nightfire Quartet, and especially Queen of the Shadows and Ruin, Nisha J. Tuli has solidified herself as one of my must-read authors.

This was a stunning ending to a fantastic series. I love how invested I became in ALL of the characters, main and not. Zarya and Rabin are two unforgettable characters, and as happy as I was for them, I was sad that this was the end.

Okay, I don’t trust the king (Zarya’s dad) at all. I swear he’s poisoning Rabin and messing with their connection. And I *hate* that they’re apart so much STILL. I get it, I do, but without even the dream plane, they barely interact for the first 30%?!
The tension in this one is not the fun kind—it’s like this looming dread, and my brain and body hate suspense. We know something bad is coming (please, not the bond being removed), but we don’t know when. And on top of that, everyone feels just a little off—like they’re dulled versions of themselves. Zarya isn’t questioning things, Rabin is way too subdued, and even Yasen isn’t his usual witty self.
Thankfully, around 50%, the tension snaps and it’s action-packed until the end. And honestly? I ended up really enjoying it! Book 4 in a series is so hard to be a 5-star read, but it’s still a series I’d recommend to romantasy lovers. Solid 4 stars. I will miss these characters even though Rabin wasn’t as intense as I wanted—I needed more *burn the world down*, and he was a little too passive and Zarya did a *lot* of crying. But to be fair, she was still kicking ass through the tears, so it wasn’t whiny, just… a lot.
We do get a nice little HEA, and most storylines get wrapped up (though some more neatly than others). For how important Amrita and Vikram were early on, their ending was like… a single page? Not mad, just *meh*.
There are spicy moments, but they’re also going through it, so it’s not super heavy. The one dream plane scene felt a bit icky to me, maybe even a little triggering, so heads up for that.

I have always loved Nisha j tuli books and this one was no exception. This is the fourth book in a series and it was amazing! I would highly recommend!

Queen of Shadows and Ruin is the fourth and final book in the Nightfire Quartet. Much like Nisha’s other work I absolutely devoured each book of this series at the first opportunity and the 4th book was no different so thankyou to Netgalley, the publisher and Nisha for my advanced copy!
It’s difficult to explain much about the book without giving things away but it was a joy to be back in Zarya’s and Rabin’s world (Yasen too of course). I did see the main plot twist coming but this didn’t detract from the story. Parts of the book had my heart racing especially with the vivid imagery Nisha creates in the high-pressure moments - I truly felt like I was watching a movie within my mind.
I felt the beginning of the book was a little slow but once we hit the action it was rapid fire from there til the end. Speaking of the ending I can’t not mention how grateful I was for things to be nicely wrapped up for the end of the series with no unanswered questions.
Nisha’s books are an automatic choice for me, her Romantasy books are immersive and exhilarating and I can’t wait to read what she does next (a step into the contemporary romance world)

**I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review**
I really liked the plot and the characters, all the magic system and the fantasy of it, the fact that it was inspired by a different mythology was so refreshing and some of the descriptions were so vivid I really hope yo see more about this world and folclore that it's so different from the usual..
But I felt something was missing, everything was too obvious or redundant, sometimes even childish, probably rushed. I've sensed a change on the author's writing, ever since the third book of this series, and I'm conflicted because
I enjoyed the journey and honestly hope that this author continues writing more books like these, but I'll love a little more character development, more conflict and complexity in the dialogue of the characters, I still recommend this series, just for the fact that is set in a different culture and represent different people that needs to be represented, just for that, this book and this author is so worthy!

Thank you NetGalley and Second Sky for the ARC
Another series has come to an end and though I'm sad it's finished I can say it went out with a bang! Nisha writes excellent as usual and I enjoyed the amazing ride she took me on. Queen of Shadows and Ruin wraps up the series perfectly and it was a bittersweet farwell to all the characters I've grown to love so much. I won't say anything more because of spoilers, but know that it's just as fantastic as the rest of the series

Holy Hannah, my anxiety was through the roof reading this. But like, in a fun way...? I never knew what was going to happen, at any point. This was just so, so good. Nothing in this book was easy. Zarya and co. were up against it and had to fight for EVERYTHING. And man, I hated her dad. HATED. That guy gave me bad vibes from the jump and I love being right about what a garbage pail he was. I'm not going to lie, I was expecting people to die. Like, lots of people. But Nisha knows what she is doing and her writing is just that good. This story wrapped up the series so well - it was everything I could have wanted in a final book. Zarya and dragon daddy Rabin 4eva. *chef's kiss*

This was a great conclusion to the series
I loved the found family dynamic in all 4 books. I usually don't read a lot of spicy romantasy but I had a fun time with this
4 stars

Queen of Shadows and Ruin was a fun conclusion to the Nightfire Quartet. Watching Zarya struggle with the weight of what she was called to do made for an emotionally charged and compelling journey not only for her, but those that care about her. The way all the moving parts from the previous books came together made this final book feel fast-paced, keeping me hooked from start to finish.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was seeing the friendships and relationships I’ve grown to love continue to develop. The bonds between characters felt real and meaningful, adding even more depth to the story. While the series as a whole had familiar romantasy elements, it also introduced unique twists that kept it feeling fresh and exciting. Nisha’s writing is always engaging, and she masterfully wove everything together in a way that kept me guessing until the very end.
Overall, this series was a ride—fun, immersive, and unpredictable in the best way. I never quite knew how things were going to end, and that made it all the more enjoyable. If you love fast-paced, character-driven romantasy, add The Nightfire Quartet to your list!

I've been heavily invested in this series right from the start and just couldn't wait to read this the final instalment. If I'm blunt I was kind of stymied initially as I wanted the journey to bowl me over but alas it just felt that I was waiting for something to happen . Okay I guess that makes sense because Zarya and Rabin were also been kept waiting around by her father but trust me when things start happening it was practically impossible to step reading !
This is a series full of action, emotion and love not to mention evil ! The second half of this book just felt like a juggernaut that had run away and there was absolutely no stopping it which trust me was fabulous . This central couple are tested again and again and boy do they go through the proverbial mill. The supporting characters are never superfluous and just add so much emotion and even humour to everything and yes I'm looking at you Yasen. I had a lump in my throat towards the end at the sacrifices that these characters are willing to make. This has been an epic journey full of heart and magic and definitely worth your time reading.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Queen of Shadows and Ruin is an incredible conclusion to this fantastic series.
Zarya is in need of allies. After the treachery in Gi'ana, Zarya and Rabin must find a way to continue freeing the the vanshaj and holding the dark magic spreading across the lands at bay. As soon as she learned of her parentage, Zarya has been told to stay away from Raja Abishek, but Rabin has been a close confidant of his for years, and swears the stories she has heard are not the full truth. With few options, they fly to Andhera, seeking aid and shelter, and Abishek welcomes her with open arms. But when ominous visions cloud her mind, and the bond between Zarya and Rabin being tested to its breaking point, is any place really safe from the darkness?
I really enjoyed this final installment in the Nightfire Quartet. I loved Zarya's story so much, and I thought this was such a perfect conclusion. The stakes are higher, the consequences greater, and the romance even deeper. This book is action packed - we get multiple POVs as well - from Zarya, Rabin, and Yasen. Our characters also travel to multiple parts of the world, so we see lots of old friends as well. I also loved Rabin and Zarya's romance in this once - they are so committed to one another, and it was great to see them working together. Overall, I really enjoyed this series, and felt that this final book was an excellent conclusion to wrap up Zarya's story.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Nisha J. Tuli, and Second Sky books for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

THIS BOOK! As always Nisha J Tuli's books have me HOOKED! This series especially has had a chokehold on me since I started it! Rabin and Zayras story is STEAMY and so romantic in one! This is the perfect way to end the series I am so SAD it has to come to an end but I cannot wait to add this book to my physical collection and cherish them for years to come. The whole series is just amazing and the writing of every one of her works never fails to amaze me. I will always look forward to future work and it will always be an automatic buy.

First and foremost, I want to thank fellow Canadian, Nisha J. Tuli for ending this series in an amazing book. Additional thanks to NetGalley and Second Sky for the amazing opportunity to read Queen of Shadows and Ruin as an ARC.
Right from the start, I had the uneasy feeling that our dark couple were in for some bad news, but the depth of which this story turned was more than I ever imagined! Add in some delicious “get your hands off my wife” and some very best friend declarations, I found myself smiling and giggling just as much as I was rapid flipping pages to find out what came next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially to wrap up our characters in a meaningful way.
First Lor and Nadir had their ending, and now Zarya and Rabin got to conclude their beautiful story. While I’m disappointed that this series is also now over, I’m excited to try Not Safe For Work very soon to quell my #nishajtuli fix.

Another perfect ending to an amazing series by Nisha J. Tuli. I loved everything about this series, from start to finish this was a ride with lots of ups and downs. The spicy scenes were fire and the plot had so many twists that I couldn't stop reading. This is definitely a favorite that I plan on reading again and again.

this was so good and so tragic at the same time. Zarya is back again and honestly I love her. she truly lives up to the nickname Spitfire. and was so not expecting the big twists of this book! I was on the edge of my seat reading this. It was the perfect ending to an awesome series!

I can always count on Nisha to deliver a heart-pounding, exhilarating adventure, and Queen of Shadows and Ruin (The Nightfire Quartet) was no exception. It bleeds intensity, rich storytelling, and edge-of-your-seat tension from start to finish.
Book three picks up right where we left off, bringing us face-to-face with Zarya’s father. But is he the noble figure Rabin believes him to be, or the dangerous man Row and her mother warned about? The first half of the book unravels this mystery with masterful suspense.
Nisha excels at building tension, and Shadows and Ruin is no exception. If you love that nail-biting, anxiety-driven energy, this book delivers in spades. The sense of unease is palpable—something feels off, and with every turn of the page, the clues keep stacking up, feeding the reader’s paranoia in the best way possible.
Meanwhile, you are whisked into a snowy, magical world that feels equally oppressive, powerful, and beautiful, just like Zarya’s father. And when the adventure kicks in, and Zarya is forced on a harrowing adventure to complete her quest, the story meets its stride. Aside from her ability to write incredible visual landscapes, what Nisha does better than most is write adventures or trial sequences so well. She weaves crucial story and character elements into rising action, raising the stakes and making those moments much more emotionally heightened.
Our cast splits into groups and POVs at times so we can see what’s going on in the rest of the world. Row has been my favorite character from the start, and he and Yaren get to shine in this story. They are both genuinely wonderful, supporting characters.
When all seems lost, victory is impossible, and all the characters seem doomed. We walk right into the finale, where we are gifted the peace of loose ends everywhere being tied up. Nisha does not miss details, and I notice when they are.
If you’ve loved the rest of the series—or any of Nisha J. Tuli’s books—then The Nightfire Quartet is an absolute must-read! This series is a thrilling, fast-paced ride through dazzling new worlds, filled with characters as flawed as they are irresistibly charismatic. And let’s not forget the villains—scheming, terrifying, and nearly unstoppable. Every page crackles with tension, magic, and intrigue, making it impossible to put down.
Loved this!

“Get your hands off my wife.”
Oh. My. God.
I absolutely devoured this book. Zarya was such a badass. So strong and resourceful. She and Rabin faced so many trials in this book and overcame so much. Their character arc in this book was fantastic.
The plot continued to be exciting and fast paced, with so many twists and turns. I don't want to spoil anything, but let's just say this book will have you shaking your head and bitting your nails while at the same time anxiously anticipating what's up next all up to the very last page.
This series was masterfully written! What an incredible end to a fantastic romantasy!
