I listened to this book on audio and loved it. This was the ending that I wanted. The book is so beautifully written with highs and lows. I had all the emotions running through this book. I was definitely on an emotional rollercoaster. If you’ve not heard of this series before please go and start reading it it was amazing.

Book review: 4/5 ⭐️
Genre: romantasy
Themes: rebels & usurpers, trauma, fated love, duty and honour
📖 Read if you like: From Blood and Ash, The Serpent & the Wings of Night, Powerless, The Witcher

Why oh why did I wait so long to start audiobooks! This was simply fantastic. For starters, this is an absorbing story of gods and mortals, magic and heartache, cruelty and love. Book 4 in a series that is equal parts storytelling, humane and spice this is one I am surprised I don’t hear more of. This installment sees our star-crossed lovers Cecilia and Rainer torn apart with lost memories and the charming king Xander dethroned and captured by the cruel usurper Vincent. Within a court full of vipers and a gilded prison, Xander and Cecilia must work to ensure peace and stability in the kingdom while maintaining a facade of obedience. With spies, magic and the rise of rebels this was a face paced story that was equal parts action and character development.

Cecilia’s confrontation with fear and trauma is one that reads so honestly. Her story line is both heartbreaking and hopeful as she seeks the path to healing, while reconnecting to her own power. Rainer’s memory loss is one I have read before, but this version did make me smile and their love was both selfless and endearing. His battle between duty and honour coloured his personality and actions, while that constant tug towards Cecilia encountered some unexpected hurdles. Xander remained the cocky and charming prince of storms, and I do so love his friendship with Cecilia after all they have endured together. His character arc also got some much needed closure.

A positive nest of love stories entangle this narrative with their friends operating in disguise. There is a lot of spice in this novel so be prepared for the bedroom door to be blown wide open. While there was a lot of it, it seemed to fit really well with the story line. A pet peeve of mine is when the characters randomly drop their clothes just for sensationalism, but this was not that.

All in all this was a very enjoyable romantasy and I will admit I haven’t read all the books in the series, but I sure want to now! This would be a rather long book, but it really shined as an audiobook with four fantastic narrators that mimicked the POVs so accurately as to intone emotions and uncertainty down to my bones. They did the voices of spine tingling cruelty, the tear cracked admissions of trauma and the heartfelt declarations so perfectly as to make this story feel cinematic. I could not have asked for a better trial for an audiobook! Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for a chance to listen and review this book.

The final book in The Godless Kingdom is a rollercoaster of emotions. The highs and lows kept me on the edge of my seat, but I’m really happy with the outcome. I don’t want to say too much and risk spoilers, but trust the process, it’s worth it.
The narrators, Caitlin Kelly, Will Damron, Tim Campbell, and Rusty Mewha, did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life and capturing the full range of emotions. Very well done.

I’m giving 4 stars cause I didn’t see that this was book four of a series. I wish that NetGalley would put a note on the top of the request page to let readers know.

What an absolute wild ride! This is the conclusion to this series and was absolutely worth the wait. So much has happened since we me Cece, Xander and Rainer and the wrap up to their stories was absolutely perfect. This has quickly become one of my favorite romantasy series especially the audio book. The different audio book narrators for the different characters is very helpful and each voice actor fits each character very well.

Running out of coherent thoughts after finishing this audiobook!
I love how well-rounded and perfectly written all of these characters are! Masterson has an amazingly eloquent writing style in such a way that it's so easy to immerse yourself. The series was completed so well and Im honestly heartbroken it's over! I haven't yet read TGK on paperback, nor have I attempted any of this series on audiobook before, and all of these narrators were new to me, but did a PHENOMENAL job at bringing everything to life. I've immediately went back to purchase the previous 3 so I can re-experience the whole series in a new light again and I am so beyond excited.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC! <3

I am completely gutted yet again that this series is over. The narrators did an absolutely phenomenal job and I can’t imagine anyone else doing their respective POVs!

What a great ending for a great series. 💗💗💗

This hurt so much 😭. But it was worth all the pain. Xander you’ll always have my heart.

Reviews for the final book in a series are so hard without spoilers. But I will say this was a fantastic conclusion. It is evident the author poured her heart and soul into crafting the ending to our beloved characters’ stories. There is nothing formulaic about this story and I loved the intricacies of all the relationships. This is a HEA that is fought for with every breath and well deserved. The journey was perilous and full of heartbreak but Cece, Rainer, and Xander built a unique happily ever after for themselves overflowing with love and acceptance. And all the new characters we befriend along the way created such a heartwarming found family. This series will undoubtedly stay with me for a while.

i actually really don’t have a coherent thought at the moment. i loved this series so much and i am so sad it’s over.

i am so speechless.

cecilia, rainer, xander, sylvie and evan are some of my favorite characters ever written. i love the way Sheila makes you love them, root for them, cry for them, and just really makes you want the best for them. each of them had their own stories to tell and they were told so beautifully. even though i definitely threw my kindle a lot (four times) and i cried sooo much (sixteen times) i am so proud of all of these characters. i felt so many emotions reading the final book in this series and if i’m honest, i’m still crying.

some of my favorite quotes from book four:

“falling in love was an unbelievably foolish thing to do, but he’d never been terribly wise”

“brave with my hand, brave with my heart”

“i’ve spent my whole life training as a hunter, working my ass into shape while you’ve been sitting on yours at tea. that’s one place you can’t compete”

this was everything i look for in a fantasy romance. The Lost God series is in my top five favorite series ever, and
i already cant wait to do a reread. ❤️‍🔥

The Godless Kingdom is a fast paced thriller that's impossible to put down. Join Cecilia and Xander as they try to fight the new tyrannical ruler and regain their power. The story is intriguing with lots of palace politics and magical world building. the audiobook is well narrated and the voice actors did a superb job bringing the characters to life.

I JUMPED at the chance to get to listen to the audiobook of this fantastic story. I often get asked why I would re-read a book
if i already know the ending and honestly I do have a hard time “reading” them again but doing my re-read with the audiobook is an ENTIRELY different experience. Listening to The Godless Kingdom had me on the edge of my seat and I already know the ending. The narrators did yet another amazing job brining my favorite characters to life. Their voice acting took a story that is already phenomenal and added another layer to it. I encourage anyone who loves audiobook to not only give this book a try but the entire series. If you are a fantasy romance lover you will absolutely become enamored with Cece, Rainer, Xander and Even.

Today is the day the epic conclusion to TLG series comes out in audio — and you do not want to miss it!

Once again, the narrators completely nailed the delivery and the emotional impact hits even harder the second time around. From the rage inducing moments to the heart wrenching ones, and all the quippy one liners and flirty banter in between, Caitlin Kelly, Will Damron, Tim Campbell, and Rusty Mewha absolutely nailed their roles.

To say that I cried myself to sleep after a certain chapter is no exaggeration. I knew it was coming, but hearing it and the raw emotion from these characters took this scene to a whole new level!

This series is one of my absolute favorites and the audiobooks do not disappoint! I highly recommend checking this series out in any and every format available!

In The Godless Kingdom, the narration draws you into a powerful story about characters navigating a world without faith, with a strong focus on their emotional growth during challenging times. Cece's journey from vulnerability to strength, as she faces loss and betrayal, resonates deeply, allowing listeners to connect with her experience and reflect on their own struggles. The narrator’s clear and engaging delivery makes this vivid world all the more immersive. This audiobook serves as a compelling reminder of our capacity for growth in tough situations, leaving a lasting impression as you consider your own path and inner strength. This story already gives so much depth but then adding in the amazing narrators is the icing on the cake. Phenomenal work!

The Godless Kingdom is one of my favorite books, and the narrators absolutely brought this to life. I am so impressed with the performances because this book holds some big emotions. I loved getting to relive this book through them. I loved listening to the final book in The Lost God series, and I know that I could revisit these audiobooks again and again. I loved them and would highly recommend the audiobooks.

This isn’t a book review. This is a letter to the author. SHEILA!! What have you done to me with this audiobook?! This was easily my favorite book of the series. I’m a sucker for emotional abuse from authors, but this wasn’t a mere beating — you took my heart and ran it through the blender. I should have been prepared with snacks, a box of tissues, and a bottle of wine.

I didn’t think you could write even more depth, personality, or growth into these characters, but you certainly proved me wrong. I feel like I know them personally. You’ve managed to make heroes into villains (okay, ish), villains into heroes (again, ish) and sometimes back again. Xander’s character will be a forever favorite. The sass, the incessant flirting, the way he has come so far *chef’s kiss* This entire story has been a wonderful journey, and I’m a little sad to say goodbye to these characters. I’m definitely going to need to re-read the series.

As for the narration on the audiobook- the multiple POVs were handled so well and the narrators were so emotive without overdoing it. This really brought the story to life. This audiobook is an easy recommendation for me.

Well, I don’t recommend listening/reading this book in public. You are either going sit there crying, look incredibly angry, or melt from the spice and hearing “good girl”. I will admit, I held a (loving) grudge against Sheila. Xander hung the moon for me. His heart being broken was too much to bear. Well, little did I know that she would rip my heart apart in even more ways. I mean, I should have expected it. ;)

Xander’s cousin, Vincent, is an evil man. The kind that loves to torment just for his own personal enjoyment. Using poor Rainer as a pawn, while he fights with why he cannot remember what is going on, or why his heart seems to remember what he can’t. He just wants to prove himself. Xander and Cece (Cecilia) are trying to keep it together and find out who can or cannot be trusted inside the court, while Evan works outside to pull together spies to form a plan. For anyone to be caught, it could mean being locked away or even worse, death. For Xander and Cece, the added level of having those they care for dangled as pawns to inflict more pain seems like such an added level of cruelty.

This one took me longer to get through. I had to stop to cry or let my hurting heart heal a bit. It is so worth all the tears. While we have heartbreaking ends, we also see beautiful conclusions. Even if they aren’t the ones we had been hoping for in previous books. I love that even through so much pain, Cece keeps up her feistiness. My favorite line is probably her letting a lady know that her a$$ would never look like hers, because she trains as a warrior, while the lady only sits on hers. I laughed so hard! Even if she paid for chaos she created, she had fun creating it.

This was a wonderful conclusion to the four book series. The audiobook narrators have continued to do an amazing job of pulling you into the story. Caitlin Kelly (Cece). Will Damron (Rainer), Tim Campbell (Xander), and Rusty Mewah (Evan), thank you for adding such an extra layer of emotion to the book. Especially Will. (IFYKYK…GG) Dreamscape Media also did a fabulous job with producing the audiobook. None of this would be possible without the amazing author, Sheila Masterson. Bravo!!! You can pre-order the audiobook (out February 11, 2025), or you can get the ebook, paperback, or hardcover now.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Sheila for giving me the opportunity to get an ALC/ARC of the audiobook, and give an honest review. Just let me know how to split up my therapy bill. :)

I devoted a good chunk of my day to this novel, feeling like I was always one step behind. Then it hit me - I'd jumped straight into the fourth installment of the saga. Once I realized my error, I promptly immersed myself in the preceding books. And let me tell you, it was an epic journey - easily one of the most captivating fantasy series I've had the pleasure of diving into.

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up. A wonderful conclusion to The Lost God Series. We continue with Rainer, Cece, and Xander behind enemy lies. Sheila did a wonderful job writing characters recovering from trauma and moving forward. I enjoyed Cece's journey to healing along with acceptance of the consequences from the previous book. Xander has grown so much as a character over 4 books, and becomes with fully realized man we all knew we could be while keeping his swagger and charm. The Epilogue ruined me in the best way. Bravo Sheila. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review your book.

Audio book review. The characters we know and love meet the conclusion of their story. The narrators brought the emotionally visceral story to life with such care and it broke my heart in the best way. Thank you for a wonderful adaptation and story.

This entire ensemble cast captured the hearts and souls of these characters and I am floored by how perfect this adaptation was for each book in the entire series!

The narrators deliver impassioned performances for their POVs and this audiobook took me through every emotion. I relived the moments each MC pieces together the missing and broken pieces of themselves. I felt their desperation, yearning, and unyielding devotion. And above all, I felt the power of their deeply rooted memories that bind them together.

In The Lost God series, Sheila pens heartachingly beautiful romances that are simply unforgettable.

If I could give this a million stars I would. This was such an amazing conclusion to this series!!! It broke me in so many ways and put me back together. The friendships throughout this series have been so wonderful and the way that they supported each other through this one and into the end felt so raw and realistic. The way that she writes such heavy topics and dives into grief and trauma is so detailed and well thought out. Then the way she wove humor throughout this book specifically was a much needed relief but also felt real as a way for these characters to cope. I am literally SO sad to leave these characters behind every single one of these books made me love them more and more. I absolutely adored this entire series and this was the perfect way to end it!!!
