As a whole I loved this book. Yes there were things that I did not agree with, but I did not judge the whole book by these simple things. Just know that when you have sensitivity readers please listen to them. I come from a family of color( my dad) and it did make me feel bad to read those lines. On the topic of this book, I loved the FMC and how her inner thoughts! I can totally see where this is going and loved it!

I loved this book despite the backlash about the sensitive topics mentioned. I'm saddened by the fact they were carelessly tossed in there. I truly hope they can be edited and perhaps read by a team of sensitivity readers and published despite all of this I really want the stories for the other two Sparrow girls and to return to this world.

I only made it 13% in before all came out about stopping the publishing of the book/re writes. I will not be continuing to read it as is. Hope to be able to read it when it gets put out again.
Thank you for the arc and hope to read in the future!!

I was actually really excited to read this and I felt it had so much potential then I read the lines about Elon musk…? And the blatant racism of the “questionable work visa” line really really put me off especially considering these are coming from characters we’re meant to LIKE?!
Just considering the current state of the world they both felt very out of touch.
Now I did deliberate dnf-ing but I pushed through for the sake of my review and tried my hardest to ignore … all that and here’s what I can say.
The premise of this book was something I would usually love, it’s why I applied for the arc I mean an enemies to lovers marriage of convenience? Yes please.
The whole set up of it seemed great (again ignoring the obvious) but the romance its self had that … where’s the slow burn of the enemies turning into lovers feeling.

Family rivalries, drama, and romance combine for a wonderful contemporary romance from Lark. I am really looking forward to seeing where this series goes next. I loved the marriage of convenience aspect, but have to take a star off for the insensitive dialogue regarding immigrants.

I enjoyed the storyline of this book! I do wish the chapters weren’t labeled with a title, I feel like it gave a lot of the chapter away.

I hoped there would be more playful bickering or challenging instead of Monroe just going with whatever Sadie said.

Overall the story was good! It was a quick read once I started it!

I absolutely ate this book up! I've never read this kind of family against family, vineyard type plot before and I loved it. I was on the edge the entire time thinking there was going to be a big twist moment, but it was just the sweetest happily ever after.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced readers copy!

Edited to add: I was so upset to see this series was pulled! I loved it and didn't find anything triggering for me personally. I hope after the book is edited, the series can continue!

This book had so much potential. Unfortunately, the author made some racists remarks in the story that was out of left field from the character and didn't add any thing to the story.

The apology did not feel sincere and felt like the publisher made sure they did not take the blame for it. It just didn't feel right to me.

Sparrow and Vine is initially a fun, good time, it has much potential, but this potential is brought down by certain dialogue exchanges that left me uncomfortable.

Our leads Sadie and Monroe shock their respective families when they enter a bit of a fraudulent but oh so convenient marriage in a bid to save a long disputed vineyard from being sold. Forcing rival families to come together, however not every family member is for this, in fact some may plot against the abrupt couple, placing hurdles along the way. But those hurdles will have a formidable match facing the partnership of Sadie and Monroe.

The book features some fan favorite tropes and themes. That said, this is where I found a hiccup in my own engagement. It’s no surprise the use of these tropes can arise predictability in story beats, and I don’t mind that at all, as long as they are infused with their own unique charm. This charm felt missing at times in the narrative, diminishing my engagement. I found my gaze wandering off page at times.

However, what made me wander off most were certain choices in dialogue. Particularly an exchange related to workers' "questionable" visas. I did not catch this in my first reading, so I have edited my review to now reflect this. After being made aware it reframed much of this narrative for me, causing great discomfort. This line is disappointing and indefensible to see included. It further diminished my engagement. I sincerely hope if the book is not pulled that there are edits prior to publication, and a statement released to maintain transparency with readers.

Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for this advanced complimentary copy, I leave this honest review voluntarily.

This was a quick enjoyable read. I liked the characters, and the relationships between the other siblings was intriguing, which aim assuming is because they’re being set up for their own stories. At times the use of metaphors and similes was a bit distracting, especially in the beginning. Not everything needs a cheesy comparison. But thankfully the rest of the story was relatively free of them. There wasn’t much of a conflict in the end and it felt kind of rushed and anti-climactic. Hopefully something that will be fixed in the future books in this series.
