ARC Review of Sparrow and Vine by Sophie Lark
* * * * *
The start of a series that I am eager to dive into! A plan to save the family that ends with the bindings of enemies with a wedding that should have been.
Sadie and Monroe did something crazy, but it was to save the vineyard and their home.
Their families have been enemies for all their lives due to the choices of their parents, tearing about the friendship between their grandfathers, and leaving a glorious house empty...waiting for the owners to move in.
With one little ring and a signed piece of paper, that is just what happened.
Great read. With the hint of the two other siblings getting their own time to shine in future reads, I am eager to follow this series.
Even when their families hated each other, Sadie and Monroe never appeared hostile, just a few bitter jabs and teasing. Their relationship is almost somewhat healthy, and they immediately begin to bond. No heavy fighting or nastiness. Though it is different for the other siblings, one pair that appears to be hiding a secret and the other just annoying the hell out of each other.
Then there is the mystery of the past. What happened to Sadie's father and Monroe's mother to make it end it all? The betrayal? Is their more?
Can't wait to find out!

Will no longer be reading and reviewing since this was pulled by the publisher. Thank you for the opportunity.

This was pulled from publication therefore I do not feel comfortable leaving a review. Sadlyi have to rate this book. I did not read it die to all the drama surrounding it.

Dnf. Not a fan… of what i read. I have previously liked reading Sophie Larks book, but this one wasnt…good.

I'm a huge sophie fan so it's disappointing to see the things that took place in this book. I was over the moon to get the opportunity to participate in this arc but here we all are now.

This book has been pulled from publication, so I will not be reviewing it though I did read the provided ARC., Treating prominent, important issues as throwaway lines to illustrate unexplored character beliefs is not something I want to read in anything, but especially concerning main characters in a romance.

Ok...so I LOVED the cover of this book!
I couldn't get past the first chapter of the book though. The description of Pop Pop running through the field was the last straw for me. I felt the writing was a immature. Then I went online and saw the controversy surrounding the release. While I probably wouldn't let something like that keep me from reading a book, it sure didn't make me want to pick it back up after I'd already decided to DNF.
Good luck to Ms. Lark on future publications!
**Thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books via NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

DFN:
I will not going to be supporting an awful human being. Being racist is not okay and I’m not going to be reading this anymore

I will not be reading or reviewing this book, since it was pulled from publication due to recent events.

I would like to start off by saying that thank you for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. And although I know this book is pulled from future publication, I think it’s important to remember lines about visas, immigrants, Elon musk, as well as anything prominent to issues that have been happening and are very serious conversations should not be put in the book as a way to describe a “charcater flaw”. There are numerous ways to write romance books without including lines like this.

due to recent news, it was pulled from publication. therefore, i will not be reading or reviewing this book as of right now. however, i would still give a second chance to this book when or if it's republished with a revised version. nevertheless, thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me an ARC.

I was disappointed in this book, the premise sounded really good but the actual story was just not it.
There was good initial set up of the characters and I was intrigued from the first chapter, however the MMC quickly became insufferable and whiny and was just generally giving me the ick.
The feeling was solidified when he used to line “shouldn’t there be some people with questionable work visas picking these grapes for us?” No, this is not okay and should be removed from the book before published, the author and their team needs to do better.
That aside, the banter between characters was fun to read. I liked Sadie’s character and wish I had the level of enthusiasm about life that she has. It was also nice to see the characters trust each other instead of the typical third-act breakup which I had been convinced was going to happen.
The tension buildup between the MMC and FMC just wasn’t there, it seemed to just all of a sudden be that they were totally in love. The story did feel like it was dragging after the first 30% of the book and to be honest didn’t really feel like it went anywhere, making the book feel more like a set up for the rest of the series.
The spice just wasn’t good, it was open door sure but completely lacked the heat and passion it needed to elevate the book. Also, why are they so obsessed with each others smells, who loves the smell of sweat?
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this book, it wasn’t worth my time reading and was just very disappointing.

I read this unaware of the racist and problematic comments made by the author. I had completely missed the lines until it was brought to my attention. I am also very disappointed in Sophie Lark’s response to these comments and the lack of accountability.
As a result of this, I have removed my review and will not be supporting this author or release.

Thank you Bloom for the opportunity to read this arc, but as it has been pulled from publication, I am unable to read it. Therefore, the rating is neutral to reflect that I have not read the book.

This book was so cute!! Definitely a change of pace from Sophie Lark’s normal work, but a really great take on contemporary romance. I loved the main characters Sadie and Monroe, there is so much history in their story so it’s nice to see them fall in love after knowing eachother for their whole lives. I guess you could say this book was friends/rivals to lovers because their families both own/share the vineyard and have been at eachothers throats ever since. I’m obsessed with the history behind the other siblings relationships, Hazel x Heath, June x Gray, the three Sparrow daughters and three Beaumont sons. This was an easy read and one of my favorite advanced reader copies I’ve gotten from NetGalley. Can’t wait for the rest of the stories!!

I wish that they had not pulled this book. Not everyone’s opinion is the same. Sometimes people read things from other authors that they don’t agree with but we don’t cancel them. It’s a shame. Wishing all the best to the author and Bloom.
