Limited edition design plus an entertaining story? Sold! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I had no idea what I was getting into when I began reading this book. I wound up being surprised in the best way. I adore the sisters and even some of the brothers featured. The banter is well written and I was smiling a lot as I was reading.

A first book in what will obviously be a series. Two warring families own a vineyard that both desperately want alone, but they’re partners because of an ironclad agreement. To thwart that, Sophie Lark and Monroe Beaumont get married and the vineyard becomes theirs, infuriating their families even more. What starts as an agreement grows into more and families must start to work together.

For anyone wanting to read this book because you love Sophie Lark's dark romance, grittier vibes, this is not for you.

Sparrow and Vine offers a light romance that keeps things simple and surface-level. It falls more into the contemporary romance field with two families fighting over a vineyard. Sadie Sparrow and her sisters operate the vineyard their grandfather and his best friend started 2 generations ago. Their grandfather and his best friend each placed the vineyard in a trust that it would pass to their generations, contingent upon a Sparrow-Beaumont wedding that never took place. Now with one of the grandfathers on his deathbed, the vineyard is in danger of being sold. Enter Mason Beaumont with a plan to marry Sadie and save the vineyard.
The plot mainly follows the birth of the marriage of convenience between Sadie and Mason but again, there was not a lot of angst. It could've delved deeper into the forbidden love from a rival family aspect but failed. In fact, there wasn't a lot of plot movement or character development throughout the book. There was obvious mysterious circumstances between a Beaumont boy and Sparrow girl that sets the scene for their book. In fact, other than being a vehicle for the rest of the series, I just didn't feel a whole lot of anything for these characters. It was hugely disappointing because I do like Sophie Lark's books.

Thank you NetGalley, Sophie Lark and Sourcebooks for the ARC!!

2.5 Stars

First, I would like to thank NetGalley for the arc. But, all opinions are my own!

I am a Sophie Lark fan, well her Anastasia book specifically, so I was excited to give this a try. This one is hard for me to rate because I did find it entertaining some of the time, but I think there were also a lot of things that could have been done much better. I love the arranged/force marriage situation, but then the actual story didn't live up to my expectations.

I think the biggest issue is almost a lack of focus. Our MCs are faced with a million issues - an evil mother-in-law, an ailing grandfather, a failing winery (and all the legal issues re. the ownership), and super difficult sibling relationships. Then, on top of all that, we have this arranged/forced marriage between our FMCs. I can't give too much away but it felt like because there were so many random issues floating around that the story couldn't focus in and explore any of them in depth. Everything sort of stays surface level while our MCs are essentially playing house and hooking up.

The main relationship felt forced and again, lacked depth. While this was a slow burn, there wasn't any tension and I didn't feel the chemistry. I actually thought the tiny blips we see between our MC's brothers x the FMC's sisters (clearly will be the focus of future books) were far more promising than literally any other plotline we see in this one. I didn't fall in love with the MCs here, they were both fine but nothing special or unique (again the sibling characters were each 10x more interesting).

There were also a few random plot points that felt silly/frustrating, and overall I was kind of bored. So much could have been explored, instead we get pages and pages of the MCs sitting on their couch or cooking in their kitchen.

I will definitely read the next book, even the small teaser for the next book at the end of this drew me in.

I absolutely ATE this book up. I loved Sadie and Monroe so much as characters. Their connection although rocky at the beginning just did it for me. The marriage of convenience turn into real love *chefs kiss* HAZEL AND HEATH *CHEFS KISS* The world building in this book to start the series was so eloquently done. This book was so beautifully written and may be one of my absolute FAVORITES that Sophie Lark has written. Omg I can’t wait for the paperback to sit on my shelf.

3.5 rounded up!

This was my first Sophie Lark book! Overall thought the book was a good read, but lacked any compelling moments for me at least. Both Monroe and Sadie are fairly levelheaded MC's working towards one mutual goal with rival families. I kept waiting for some big plot twist or third act break up, but none. Which is fine!

If you are looking for a sweet simple story with some Romeo and Juliet vibes, this would be the book for you.

Thank you, NetGalley for my copy of an e-Arc!

ARC REVIEW 3.5/5

This was a light, enjoyable read with a fresh take on the marriage of convenience trope. The winery setting was a nice touch, and I liked following Sadie’s journey toward confidence, with Monroe offering steady support. That said, I wanted more depth in their connection—the romance moved quickly and lacked some emotional build-up.

Despite this, it was still an entertaining read and a solid start to the series. Not my favourite from Lark, but a good pick if you’re in the mood for something low-stakes and sweet. Will definetly read the continuing books in this series.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

This was cute! I liked the modern day Romeo and Juliet vibes, warring families over a vineyard. I enjoyed the pacing of this novel, enjoyed that it was more of a slow burn than some of Sophie’s other books. I also liked that there is no third act break up and the character actually thought through a problem logically without any dumb misunderstandings. Overall, fast paced and fun!

ARC / Releases April 2025

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an advance copy.

———— All thoughts are my own.

This is my first Sophie Lark and I loved reading this. It's fun and so funny. A dry humor type sitcom/dramedy that's a little dark and right up my alley.

I went into this mostly blind, I read the synopsis and I think that's it. The story centers around a "wedding that never was" resulting in a decades-long family feud dividing friends into two rival families. When Monroe's grandfather is knocking at death's door, Monroe Beaumont devises a plan, which involves marrying Sadie Sparrow, so they could save her home and their grandfathers' vineyard to preserve a legacy.

"I'm not sure if we're joking or fighting. I don't know if I'm excited or afraid. Monroe has always had this effect on me—fascination mixed with deep discomfort."

I fell in love with Monroe and Sadie. They were more of a “I hate you, but I don’t, it’s just what we’ve always known” vibe, so dislike to partners to lovers. Their journey from partners to lovers was so fun and heartwarming. Their trust and faith in one another was beautiful. And the rest of the family? I love them too. My heart breaks for each one of them, and I find that's hard to do, because everyone has favorites, but all of them hold a mystery you can't wait to unravel, and I personally can't wait to see what's next for the Sparrows and Beaumonts. Bring on books 2 and 3! The little peek of the next book too? I'm excited!!!!

Definitely grabbing a physical copy to reread and for my shelf.

Based on the synopsis, I expected a little bit darker of a book-more enemies to lovers. My previous experience with Sophie Lark has all been dark romance and that influenced my assumptions.

As a contemporary romance, it provided all the things I look for in a more cozy genre. I loved that Monroe and Sadie had genuine care for each other, supported each other, and trusted each other. The relationships between the siblings were well fleshed out. There were plenty of seeds planted for future installments without sacrificing Monroe and Sadie’s story. However, there are still a lot of questions I need answers to, and I think some of those could have been addressed in this book.

The beginning of the book was very funny, as was the epilogue/ending and I wanted that comedic touch to show up more throughout the whole book. This was the set up book for more and I wish it leaned into the comedy and dark vibes it initially had set up.

Overall I very much enjoyed it, and I plan to continue reading the series.

Sophie Lark's Sparrow and Vine is steamy marriage of convenience at its best!

It's witty, steamy, and sets up for a classic Lark series with drama, siblings, a vineyard and I ate it up! Sadie and Monroe challenge each other, drive each other nuts but marry each other for the greater good of their families and in the process fall for each other despite it being business only. There's drama, family rivalry, marriage of convenience, banter, no third act break up and he's a former hockey player? I swoon, It's fun, interactive, full of intriguing side characters and two adults that are mature and communicate and form a strong unit and I cannot wait to keep reading this series. An amazing start to an amazing series!

As someone who typically never reads anything but thrillers and romantasy novels, I made it a goal this year to expand my reading into new genres. I was grateful to receive an advanced reader copy of Sparrow & Vine by Sophie Lark from Netgalley, and to step into contemporary romance for a bit! I immediately loved this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy five star read. Sadie Sparrow and Monroe Beaumont grew up parallel to each other, both as the third generation to their grandfathers’ winery. Their grandfathers had been bestfriends when they started their pride and joy, Sparrow and Vine vineyard & winery together, writing an ironclad trust passing down the business and property to their married heirs. Except Their heirs never got married, Monroe’s mother abandon Sadie’s father at the altar for his best friend right before the wedding that never was. In a last ditch effort to save the property from going to auction, someone has to take action. This fast-paced story unfolds in such a fun and heartwarming way, with kick-your-feet banter on every page. This book officially releases on April 22nd, 2025 and there will be two more books coming to complete the Love and Madness trilogy,

Contemporary romance, two rival families at war over a vineyard named "Sparrow and Vine". A contract marriage in order to inherit the winery and save it. Sadie Sparrow and her sisters run the vineyard that their grandfather and his best friend started years ago. Their grandfather and his best friend made a deal for the vineyard to be inherited by their children upon their marriage. But when the Sparrow-Beaumont wedding went up in flames and scandal years before, the vineyard is now at risk of not being inherited by either family. Until Monroe Beaumont finds a loophole. The contract never stated which family members had to marry.
So he convinces Sadie to get married in order to get ownership of the vineyard. But not everyone is happy about this, so the plot thickens and the sabotage begins.
This is different from her dark romance books, very green flag cozy romance. I found it lacked a little depth and character. I just didn't strongly connect to the story and our main characters and their love story. Good writing per usual, not my favourite of her works.

Monroe and Sadie.....perfect. I enjoyed the rival family back drop with the marriage of convivence. Both Monroe and Sadie just want to help their families keep the family business. I enjoyed them as a couple. I devoured Sparrow and Vine in a few days and can't wait to see more from the Sparrows and the Beaumonts.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sophie Lark is one of my auto-buy authors, so I was beyond excited for this book—it was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it did not disappoint!

Sparrow and Vine introduces us to the Beaumonts and the Sparrows, two feuding families who co-own a vineyard and winery. At the heart of the story are Sadie and Monroe, the youngest grandchildren from each family, who are desperately trying to save the business from collapsing. Monroe, a wealthy ex-hockey player, and Sadie, an art school dropout, come up with a bold plan, the only way to merge the families and secure the vineyard’s future is to get married.

However, their families are completely against the idea, offering no support despite their efforts to keep the business afloat. With no one else to turn to, Sadie and Monroe rely on each other. What starts as a supporting friendship soon turns into something deeper, as they realize their partnership is about more than just saving the vineyard—they’re falling in love.

I absolutely adored this book! It gave major Hatfield and McCoy vibes with its feuding families, shared legacy, and star-crossed lovers. The mystery behind the long-standing feud adds another layer of intrigue, and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series following the Beaumont and Sparrow siblings!

4⭐️. A delightful enemies-to-lovers romance set against the backdrop of a family-owned vineyard in Rhode Island! Monroe and Sadie's families have been feuding for years ever since an engagement went south, but when circumstances force them into a marriage of convenience, sparks inevitably fly. I was initially hesitant to pick this up after reading Grimstone (which wasn't for me), but Sparrow and Vine completely won me over. Sophie Lark masterfully weaves together family drama, steamy romance, and a splash of the fascinating world of winemaking. The chemistry between Monroe and Sadie is electric, and watching them navigate their complicated family dynamics while falling for each other was incredibly satisfying. The vineyard setting adds a unique charm to this modern Romeo and Juliet retelling (I don’t think it’s an actual retelling, but had a lot of similar elements. Minus, like, everyone dying at the end). Full review to come on my feed! Definitely recommend for fans of forced proximity and marriage of convenience tropes. Also, I’m so excited for June and Gray and Heath and Hazel’s stories!

Thank you to Netgalley and Bloom books for the arc of this book. Sparrow and Vine is the first book in this series. This book is a contemporary romance from Sophie Lark. I was already a fan of Sophie Lark's Kingmakers serious. This is a different type of book than Kingmakers but I absolutely loved it. The female and male main characters are a marriage of convenience to save the Vineyard. Their families have a history/feud due to a called off marriage. This book has some secrets hidden by the parents and grandfathers. I was invested in this story. This book does have some spice. Once I started reading this book I did not put it down. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

4.5 🌟
This was a contemporary romance from Sophie Lark. Sparrow and Vine was a delightful and fun read. This sets up to be a great new series. The Beaumonts and the Sparrows have been feuding for years over the vineyard when both families discover that they're both about to lose it all. Sadie and Monroe decide that they can save the vineyard and Sadie's family's home since they live on the property by getting married. They're expecting both their families to be excited, only to be shocked when they see their family is not thrilled. However, Sadie and Monroe are not deterred. As they unite and start to work on saving Sparrow and Vine, they discover that they have more in common than they thought. What started as a marriage of convenience might bloss into more. Monroe's mom is determined to get Blossom and Vine instead of her son. After all, she was supposed to have the house and the vineyard she'd she was set to marry Sadie's dad, but then she left him for his best friend. She's determined to get it all back. Will she be successful? Sparrow and Vine hit all the right notes for me.

This book was such a breath of fresh air with a side of crappy family. It's very rare that I come across a romance book that doesn't have some sort of break up or huge misunderstanding between the FMC and MMC so reading through this story took me by surprise when it didn't have it. The 2 characters were 100% goals and as always Sophie's writing style kept me engaged throughout the entire book. Can't wait for the next one.
