Christian devotional for teenage/young girls focused on strenghtening their love for God, based on the issues these young women struggles with.
The authoress’s remarkable recovery from the horrible accident, leaving her without both her left eye and hand, is a lovely example of how it works.

Let me start with expressing a deep respect for the authoress’s inner strength and her love for God. Beautiful, remarkable and strong role model.
I also love how she respects her invidividual gifts (namely love for beauty and fashion) and is able incorporates them into a higher calling - to speak about God and His beauty in these areas of women’s life. God meets us personally on our human grounds and can us lead to follow His beauty there, too.

The reflections are lovely, honest and often on-the spot.
But I love most the ones what are most personal, like stories from Lauren’s life and recovery - she, young woman herself, can address a lot of issues that today’s women are facing.
But, being honest, some of the devotionals aimed on teaching about God (mostly in the first part of the book) are written with a bit of heavy hand. While I recognize the beautiful intent and I respect it, I think that young people don’t react well on "it is like that because it is like that" approach. I don’t think this is the authoress intent, don’t get me wrong! But working with young people for some years, I recognize that they have a lot of questions and doubts and need a lot of examples (say, story-based explanations), because actions means more than teachings in some cases. I understand that this is a book for quite devout Christian teens, I just wish it has more room for the doubtful, hurt, asking young people.
But this might be just me being from different culture (I live in Europe) and different denomination.

Having said all of that - some devotions are just beautiful and even I, being teen no longer for some years, have been able to take a lot from them. Lauren has a beautiful heart.
