I have been a reader of Muted since it was just a wee baby Webtoon. Which then became a big, popular Webtoon before this final form of a printed book. I literally cried when the Webtoon came to its conclusion as a story I had been reading for years and was so invested in.
I adore this series. The art style is just beautiful and rich. The greenhouse scene with Dendro is probably my favourite - she's a favourite character of mine, her design is stunning and the background art of all the blooms and greenery just blows me away time. In general the background art is really lovely if you stop and pay attention to it. A swamp could be a kind of blah setting, but the team made it look so enchanting. The changes made between the print copy and the original webtoon are really thoughtful. This first book really lays down that initial introduction of the plot; following Camille as she navigates the truth behind who she is as well as your major plot characters and of course the main witch families.
I cannot wait to read Volume 2 and all future volumes. My daughter (13) has recently gotten in to webtoon and I told her the base plot and showed her some of the familiars (like best boy Toben) and she can't wait to read too. I think the length of the book makes you feel like you're getting your money worth while alsk being realky accessible for a range of ages.
I plan on purchasing the printed copies ASAP.

A supernatural graphic novel about a young witch coming into her powers and finding out family secrets.
Loved the illustrations, especially all the familiars! Lavender was SO cute 🥰
I would’ve like this to have darker vibes, even a darker colour scheme, especially considering the subject material. It was so bright and bubbly at times.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Clarkson Potter/ Ten Speed Press for a copy!

This was an INCREDIBLE first installment to a series I am so excited to continue to read! I am such a big fan of anything witchy with the bonus of a mystery so I had high hopes for this one. Camille is such a complex character and I really appreciate that her grief and trauma wasn’t glossed over but rather really builds her backstory as to why she is who she is and how this has affected how she interacts with everyone around her. The pacing and illustrations were fabulous and both aided the story to guide the reader with such anticipation as the story progressed. I am interested to see how all the characters stories progress!!

This fell a little flat to me. There wasn’t enough backstory on the witch families for the events to have any impact. The main character felt very two-dimensional.

I really enjoyed the story and character development. Mundt writes a better story in graphic format than a lot of full length novels. The artwork was really good as well.

I ate this up in an hour, sat and didn’t come out of this world until the final chapter was finished. The art design is stunning and the characters are fleshed out and endearing.
Follow Camille as she begins to unravel family secrets from her past. I really like that you get enough information to flavour what the magic system will become whilst it not becoming overwhelming.
A really solid first volume, and after that cliffhanger I can’t wait to dive into the next one.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Ten Speed Press for the ARC.

Really enjoyed the colourful and expressive art style. So easy to follow and has me dying to know what's going to happen next!

I really enjoyed the storyline and the artwork!! Can't wait to continue this series and learn more about what happened in the past.

This book was so good! As soon as I finished it I immediately downloaded Webtoon so I could stay up way too late reading the rest of it. I loved all of it. Redheads. Lesbians. Polyamory. Magic. Beautiful art. What more do you need??

I loved this witchy sapphic graphic novel! The art style reminds me of a Webtoon I love called "Down to Earth" and its so pretty. The colors are vibrant and fun and the characters are so expressive.
I can't wait to see where this story goes and I'm looking forward to continuing the series! There are some intriguing plot points and characters that I'm excited to see develop. Of course, as this is only volume one, it acts more as a in introduction to the story and doesn't provide as much depth and growth but I know it'll come because it was such a great first volume!
I loved the bonus scene at the end, it gave a cozy, in the moment feel that put me at ease with the characters.
there's a mystery to solve about the main character and I'd love to see her grow into herself outside of her oppressive home. the characters are so lovable and diverse and fun and ugh i just love it, okay?
I would absolutely recommend this one to others! Thank you to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you, author, publisher, and NetGalley for Providing me with an eARC of the book.
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book, and I was literally overjoyed when I remembered it's a webtoon and I can just pull up the app and finish the series!
This is book is fasted paced and the excitement never lulled. At some points I did feel like the main character was giving 'I'm not like other girls' but in the end I think they're angling for a breaking generational plot line not manic pixie dream girl break the status-quo. I will be finishing out the series later today on webtoon, so I guess we'll see. Definitely looking forward to it.

I received an e-arc of Muted: Volumes 1 and 2 from Netgally in return for a honest review. I read both volumes in one sitting. My rating for Muted: Volume 1 is a 4.25 stars and Volume 2 a 5 star. I will review them as 1, so there will be no spoilers for the second volume.
The artwork is stunning. Some of the images depict very dark themes, so if you are easily triggered it is best to look at trigger warns like, but not limited to, death of family members, abuse, and mental illness (like PTSD, though not clearly stated but shown through character reactions). The story itself is your basic good versus evil and though I think I can easily suss out where the story is headed, it did not take away from my enjoyment of the read. The story is strong enough on its own but coupled with the gorgeous artwork it really comes alive.
Camille's aunt takes her in after a tragic fire leaves her without her mother and twin sister. Quickly we see the effect Camille's aunt has on her mental well being. Where the story shines is in its depiction of Camille finding pieces of herself while finding out who she is and who she wants to be. The dangers she faces, though come from both inside and outside of her own family. It is clear that Camille will have to find the strength she didn't know she had while forging new relationships and learning to trust herself and others. I am not sure when the next installment will be but I will be waiting to see where Camille's story goes.

The first few pages of this story had me going, seriously? It felt a bit overdone, but that quickly disappeared and I found myself flying through this story eager to read more. It's tough at times, and dark, but full of hope and some really gorgeous art. Honestly though my favourite part was the rep, all the glorious rep! We got queer characters, bipoc characters, disabled characters! All there, all just existing in the world without having to justify or apologise for the space they take up and I fking LOVED that. I'm excited to see where this story goes, I'll be looking out for vol 2.

If you like witches, sapphic romance and beautiful art this book is for you! It was totally out of my comfort zone but I loved the story! The main character discovers so much about herself and together with the beautiful use of colors it sucks you into the story! The characters were very diverse. Now I have to read volume two because that cliffhanger has me intrigued!

I will post my feedback during the week of July 8th, 2025, as requested by the publisher. My review will go live on NetGalley, Instagram, Goodreads, and my blog then.

I fell in love with these characters!! I was instantly sucked into the world and was invested in the plot! I adore the amazing art style in this book as well! I can’t wait until I can read the next book. Hands down a new favorite author and series!! I finished this really quickly only because I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend reading this one! Thank you so much Netgalley for this ARC.

Camille is a witch. There is a family ritual to summon a demon and make a wish. Her type of witch is a blood witch. The blood witch are high society and while she lives with her aunt, she’s been trained for this moment, but knows things are going to go wrong. Camille is left with another family member after her disastrous demon summoning to find who they are, what it means, and what has happened in their life. Camille barely remembers anything before the fire that took her mother. Now it’s her chance to find the secrets that everybody’s been keeping. The artwork in this book is amazing. It’s easy to follow. It’s bright. It’s colorful, and it really draws the reader into the story.

Muted: Volume 1 is a stunning and fast-paced graphic novel that introduces us to Camille—a young witch trying to find her place in a magical world that doesn’t make it easy for her. She lives with her cousin (who she’s super close to) and her aunt (who, let’s be honest, can’t stand her), and it’s clear from the start that Camille’s life is far from simple.
She’s struggling with her powers, feeling like an outsider in her own family, and slowly uncovering secrets about her lineage and the rare type of magic she possesses. I absolutely loved learning about the different witch families and the unique magic each one holds. There’s a mystery at the heart of Camille’s story, and it grows darker and more compelling as the plot unfolds.
One of the best parts of this volume is watching Camille’s support system and self-confidence grow. The diverse cast of characters is a breath of fresh air; each one feels distinct, and they all bring something special to the story. And the art style? Beyond gorgeous. It’s vibrant, expressive, and brought so much emotion and energy to every scene.
With moderate-to-high stakes, good worldbuilding, and a fresh take on modern witches, this was such a strong start to the series. Also, it’s apparently setting up for a sapphic poly romance? Let’s GO - I’m so here for it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Ten Speed Press for the ARC.
The artwork in this was absolutely stunning! Seriously, even if the story had been awful (which it wasn’t by any means) I would have given this 3 stars just for that.
Add in an interesting story about witches and I’m in love.
The only thing that stopped this from being a 5 star for me was the ending. It was abrupt. I wouldn’t even call it a cliffhanger really. It’s like the author wasn’t sure exactly how to end it so just picked a random scene to call it good.
That being said, I will for sure be purchasing this when it comes out in July and can’t wait to read book 2.

The artwork for the story was beautiful and bright! I liked the story overall, but found there to be a lot of unneeded scenes in my opinion. I hate that it ends on a cliffhanger but that is what’s made me want to read part 2 when it comes out.
