Oh I really loved this .
I think I will devour this seris .
It was very spooky girl autumn like hot girl summer ! I adored Cammie !
One character, the illustrations looked like coralline.
Such a fun read .

I was not a big fan of this book. I was looking for a little bit better disability representation and also a bigger font for accessibility purposes. The story was unique, though, and I could see how a different audience would enjoy it.

Muted: Volume 1 tells the story of Camille Severin. Camille is haunted by family tragedy; as a child, her mother and twin sister burned in a fire Camille barely survived. Camille landed in the custody of an abusive aunt, obssessed with furthering the family's status and blood magic. After a coming-of-age ritual goes wrong, Camille is left in the country. She begins to question all the bigotry imbued by her aunt and discovers much about herself.
The illustration is gorgeous, with lots of vibrant colors and color palettes that reflect changes in emotion/tension, etc.
I highly recommend this for those who enjoy modern fantasy with well-realized characters in interesting, complicated relationships of various flavors.

I got an ARC of this book.
I got this book solely based on the cover and the title. Do I even like stories that rely heavily on magic? Nope. This should not have been the book I requested, but I am yet again led astray by my inability to read a book description in entirety until I am confused in the middle of a story. In this case it worked out. I was hooked from the very beginning.
I needed to know every single detail of how the families worked. I wanted to know about the magic. I wanted to know how it all worked. I also wanted more familiars. So many of them were adorable and I wanted to know just so much about this world. I had to stop myself from immediately starting the second volume so I could actually review the first.
The characters are intense and alive. The coming out scene was amazing. I cackled. I can’t give too many details of that scene, because it is a bit twist (may or may not be in the description that I still have not read). But it was just perfect timing. It really createad a deeper connection for me to Camille.
The art was perfect for this story. It is able to blend dark and light, without losing either. This could go super cheesy or it could go super dark, but Mundt was able to strike that middle ground that kept it from being an extreme. Blood magic is often hard to keep a bit lighter, so Mundy being able to do this kept me invested even longer.
Overall, this was a wonderful read. I was a bit lost at some of the plot points, but I am hoping that book two really answers those questions.

I love the color palette used to illustrate this graphic novel.
i love that Camille is able to get some space from Athalie. Athalie seems like a very harsh woman with some antiquated ideas.
Looking forward to reading volume two to see where Miranda Mundt takes this story next.

I received this arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I don't know where to even start with this book, because it was just that good. I flew through it wanting to know more and more for every page I turned. The characters were fun, fleshed out and diverse and the art style was absolutely gorgeous. The use of colours and creepy images and contrasts in this book was absolutely phenomenal. The art style and colours of the cover was what drew me in in the first place, and the use of it in the book did not disappoint either.
The book was diverse in a way that was casual and fun. I loved seeing the queer rep, but even more so I adored the casual disability rep, as someone who uses mobility aids and is disabled. In the book it wasn't made a big deal, it was just included as a normal thing, which it is, even if a lot of people seem to forget when making books.
I cannot wait to read the next book, especially after that ending.

A fun graphic novel that brings a new addition to witchcraft stories and LGBTQIA+ tales. I liked the artwork of this and even though it tells a similar tale (one born not in the right family), I am interested to see where it goes next.

I am very very invested in reading the next book, and am so curious about this world’s forms of magic and the intricacies of not only the way specific magic manifests but how the protagonist is going to really find her place of belonging. I’m here for the journey and I love both the art style and am so curious about a specific part of the book and the writer and author has done an amazing job of mixing in the mystery!

Muted is a title about found family and finding your roots. When Camille is supposed to perform the traditional family summoning and make a wish, she gets more than she could ever realize: her magic is not typical. Camille embarks on a quest to control her magic as well as learn about herself, as well as the world she was sheltered from.
The art on this is beautiful and fluid. Camille's journey will have readers cheering for her and cringing for her. There are many things at hand here from grief, to misunderstandings, to finding out the world isn't what one thought it was.
After I finished the book, I actually went to Webtoon and binged the rest of the series. It was a great ride and there are many positive things in this story. Things aren't always as they seem and readers will see themselves in this series.

I love that I am getting into more beautiful visual books. Glad I was able to grab this one! I think it was a great palate cleanser between all the romance I've been reading!

First off, I really enjoyed the artwork for this one. The story has definitely caught my attention and I'm looking forward to the second volume. The magic system is interesting. I like how the families are easily distinguished not just by how their magic is described but through how they are also portrayed in the artwork.

TAKE ALL THE STARS. THIS WAS SO GOOD AND SO WELL DRAWN AS WELL. SUPER HYPED TO GET AN ACTUAL COPY FOR THIS ONE.

The first thing that stands out in this graphic novel is the beautiful artwork. The story is fast-paced and engaging, blending mystery, magic, and emotion in a really compelling way. It follows Camille as she navigates grief, complicated family dynamics, and a magic she’s still trying to understand. I’m looking forward to volume 2, which I hope will delve even deeper into Camille’s past.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC

I haven’t read webtoons in a good long while but I think that may have to change now!! I was really intrigued by the story being set up, there’s quite a few things going on and I got sucked into it extremely quickly. It definitely helps that the art style and colours are so eye catching and really well done, and I’ll admit, I am definitely partial to the lil Woodpecker familiar who manages to have such great expressions in a rather simplistic style—which I think is true of all the characters. You can really feel the emotions both through the expressions and positioning/movement of the characters which is something I find not every artist is able to capture, but Miranda Mundt definitely does, and it’s also really strongly conveyed through the story telling and the dialogue. All around it’s very strong graphic novel that hits a lot of really good beats, story, art, emotions, and leaves the reader excited to continue the story.

4.5/5 ⭐️s
🚫 - no spice, hints at romantic storyline
LOVES:
- With each chapter I became more entrenched in the witch society they live in and the familial backstory for these characters. Very interesting!
- The art is amazing 🤩 beautiful and clear about what’s going on, even amidst flashbacks
- Multiple times I found myself questioning or wondering about something and the next page would explain that exact thing. Well done 👌
- Lots of neat characters of been introduced (and some frustrating ones too) and I’m so curious to see how they all lend to the story
- Some mysterious things have been revealed, but mostly, it leaves more questions so I’m looking forward to getting more answers in Volume 2!

✨ Review ✨ Muted by Miranda Mundt
Thanks to Ten Speed Graphic and #netgalley for the gifted advanced copy/ies of this book!
This is part one of a new queer fantasy graphic novel series. Set in New Orleans-adjacent land, mixing a variety of magical families with different skills and styles of magic, Camille undergoes a summoning ritual that goes awry. She is torn, not quite feeling like she belongs, and this provides a coming-of-age adventure for her.
I loved the nods to queerness, and hope this comes out even more in the next release in this series. The variety of magic types and New Orleans cultural pieces were really interesting, and I'd be excited to learn more. This is full of gorgeous illustrations with blending bright colors, a range of greens, and lots of dark / light. There were places where I struggled to follow along a bit, or the plot seemed to jump, which kept this from being a knock out hit, but overall, I enjoyed it!

I kept up with Muted when it was being posted weekly on Webtoon and I am *so happy* to see that it is getting a physical publication to reach a wider audience, because this story deserves to be read by as many people as possible.
I'm glad it has been a while since I read the webtoon so I can give it fresh eyes as it is being published in these volumes. The art is vibrant and the visuals play an important role in telling the story, as all good graphic novels should. The pacing of this first volume is perfect - slow enough for readers to get settled in to the story but not so slow that they'll lose interest. When I finished the book, I was ready to get started on the second volume as soon as possible.

I loved how mysterious this feels. I love the twists! I love the growth, self discovery and acceptance. I can’t wait to read more! I highly recommend!

ARC Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for this ARC.
A great start to the series. For a world that seems like it's going to have an important magical system and complex social structure the world building was pretty smooth. Enough to help understand the implications of what's being revealed, but also leave you wanting for more.
The art is great. I love the witchy vibes it adds and I adore everyone's hairstyles. It always a huge bonus and big draw when the books is full color. 🥰
Even with the dark themes and obviously bad situations/home life this also carries a gentle romantic tone - adorable and cute. I'm intrigued and will need to read more of this series!

Muted, Volume 1 is a beautifully told graphic novel about witches, self-discovery, and stepping into your power. The artwork is absolutely stunning—each page is mesmerizing and full of emotion. Every character feels unique and thoughtfully developed, and I especially loved the themes of found family and first crushes woven throughout the story. I’m so excited to continue Camille’s journey in Volume 2!
