I had a really hard time getting pulled into this book. I'm not usually a fan of books written in 3rd person, and didn't realize that when I requested this ARC. I found myself skimming over parts as it felt like it dragged on in some parts, while others I found enjoyable. I did find the two main characters (Summer & Wes) likeable and pushed through to see to their HEA.

Sure! Here’s a more casual version of the review:

A Fun, Flirty Romance with Great Banter

Love to Hate You by Marina Adair is a super entertaining enemies-to-lovers romance with plenty of sass, humor, and chemistry. The main characters have that perfect mix of love and frustration, and their banter keeps things fun and fast-paced.

Adair does a great job making the characters feel real—you get both the funny, flirty moments and the deeper, more emotional ones. While the story sticks to some classic rom-com tropes, it does them really well, making it an easy and enjoyable read.

If you like romances with strong, independent heroines and a hero who gets under her skin (in the best way), this one’s definitely worth checking out!

The third person narrative in Love to Hate You was refreshing, and Summer is a lovely FMC with a lot of depth, The initial bookstore location was great .fun and I was a little disappointed when this quickly switched to the family holiday
The sections from the POV of MMC Wes didn’t really grab me, unfortunately, which came down to not finding the voice really evocative of him being British.

Love to hate you is such an entertaining read. I absolutely loved it.
Their banter, the pranks they play on each other, and their chemistry - I just couldn’t get enough of them. Their pranks and banter had me smiling and their chemistry was strong enough to break the bed.
Summer is a romantic who believes in everything romance and is very dedicated to her bookstore. Wes is a broody, grumpy CEO, who doesn’t believe in the power of love. Summers opposite and also her rival since he is opening a big bookstore right next door.
The close proximity give them a chance to see beyond the surface, blurring the lines, and leading to some steamy times.
A truly enjoyable read !

To be honest, I would never normally go for a book in third person, but I found this quite an easy read, and the enemies-to-lovers trope definitely helped.

When a rival bookstore is opening up right next door to her family-run bookshop, everything gets put on the line: family, friends, and relationships.
Both Wes and Summer have a lot of the same similarities, but they would never admit it. Both with big hearts and loved everything they had.

✨“His Grinch-heart didn’t just grow two sizes that day; it nearly exploded out of his chest.”✨

I loved the element of Summer being able to learn to stand on her own two feet and stick up for herself. To know she didn’t need anyone else but herself was enough.

✨“Every win you’ve ever accomplished has been because you are determined, passionate, and damn impressive. You’re one hell of a special woman. You don’t need a knight or your sister to fight your battles. You have yourself, and you’re enough.”✨

Also, some parts of this book had me laughing out loud with all the little digs and the quick comebacks from the characters.

✨“I don’t spoon.” “But do you fork?”✨

I only had a few faults with this. I found it a little hard to get into properly until maybe halfway through. The second half of the book made it for me, which is why I gave it the 3 stars.
Overall, this book was a good, quick read if that’s what you’re in the mood for.

Summer owns a romance store bookshop, and Wes is the big corporation who moved in across the street and built the huge shiny corporate bookstore. Hello, You’ve Got Mail! I will be honest that I had a bit of a hard time getting through this book. I liked that we were introduced to lots of other side characters, and that we got to see a ton of Summer’s relationship with her twin sister. Throughout all of the relationship dynamics in the book, including the Summer/Wes romantic plot, everything (characterizations, storylines, specific language) just felt a bit too cliched for me. There was not really anything new or fresh about the way it was done here, and mostly reminded me of more surface level versions of other stories I’ve read before. While I didn’t connect to this story in the way I had hoped, I did still find enjoyment throughout it! I enjoyed getting to know Summer’s dad, and I did also enjoy the descriptions of the Russo Scavenger Hunt.

Thank you to NetGalley and 8th Note Press for the ARC! My review will be posted to Goodreads on the publication date, and this review will be updated at that time with the link.

This book is adorable! Summer is trying to ruin a small independent bookstore until a major book chain decides to move in next door. Kingston is a grumpy CEO businessman who she is trying to run away from until by chance, she runs into him again. This book is beautifully written and love enemies to lovers.

This story had a lot going for it - nods to past romance movies, enemies-to-lovers, a British man with an accent, sizzle... overall I enjoyed it.

But when I break it down, it ended with an "it was okay."

I loved the concept - romance bookstore owner has to compete with a big named bookstore (sound familiar, a la Meg and Tom), but I never could latch onto the main character, Summer, and her infuriating sister, Autumn.

My main beef is with Autumn and the whole "borrowing" $10,000 to tour around for Taylor Swift. (I think we all have Taylor fatigue at this point). I also don't think there's many guys who are out there following Taylor other than to maybe find women? Although I suppose Randy would be one of the few.

I think, however, this is a great story for swifties and readers in their 20s.

Thank you NetGalley and 8th Note Press for an e-copy of LOVE TO HATE YOU to review.

I rate LOVE TO HATE YOU three out of five stars.

This was honestly just really poorly written. I hated the MFC. The pacing and writing of the plot was a mess.

3.5 stars

I love a British MMC (Wes) 😭 this was a super cutesy read. I'm not big on the enemies to lovers trope, but this was done nicely. I love how the FMC (Summer) wore her heart on her sleeve. The MMC had a likable personality from the start. He was confident and just knew from the moment he saw Summer she would uncover all of his layers.

The story focuses on a independent bookshop owner summer who is at war with a new upcoming big brand bookstore owner Wes who can potentially put her out of business. The story focuses on the FMC navigating how to keep her shop open even if it involves a little sabotage. It doesn't help that her store is a romance only shop so right off the bat you see the FMC is a hopeless romantic who can't seem to catch a break in that department of her life. That is until forced proximity with MMC uncovers those layers he tried to hide beneath the suit and ties.

If the story was in actu dual POV I would have given 4 stars, Overall I enjoyed their love story and I enjoyed seeing them go from hating each other to loving each other 💕

Some quotables:

"If she weren't such a pain in his ass, he'd take the time to appreciate that ass."

"When you're tired of boys and ready for a man, just let me know."

Side note thank you for this arc.

This was a fun spin on the enemies to lovers trope (which is my fav). I did enjoy this book, but also felt some development was missing between the characters. It also seemed a bit repetitive at some points. Overall I did enjoy this book!

This book was just so cute and fun. I felt like I was watching a classic romcom! The setting of a bookstore initially drew me in but the funny, witty main characters made me stay. I think the writing of this book was also so refreshing and I couldn't stop giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. It's an easy, lighthearted book that I'd recommend to anyone who needs a fun read!

Books have always been my “happy place.” The genre that I can never get enough of is romance. Although my preferred genre is romantic suspense books, at my core I am still a fan of traditional romance. Although there are certain “tropes” that I enjoy more than others, one of my absolute favorites is “enemies to lovers.” Because of this, I was extremely excited to get a chance read this book.

I tend to be hesitant to read books from a new author, because it can sometimes take me a while to get used to their writing style. That was not the case with this book. This book hooked me from the very beginning. I also liked that I could see both of the main characters’ perspectives, and I wanted both of them to “win.”

Here lately, I really enjoy when the secondary characters made you care about them also. Not to be a spoiler, but the “main” secondary characters were not likable (at least not to me!)

Overall, I really did love this book, and I am glad that the characters got their HEA. I recommend this book, and I will definitely read more.

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

This was a super fun, easy going rom-com and I flew through it in a few hours! As a huge lover of rom-coms, I loved that it included to many references to the original rom-com elements and the main characters has great chemistry!

Overall, this was an entertaining romance. There were certain aspects of the story that I really enjoyed including all the "meet-cute" tropes mixed in. There were parts of the story, thought, really lacking some real chemistry where it could have been ramped up so much more. The very first "meet-cute" held so much promise but the back and forth mindset of the heroine started to grate. I could not find purchase in her actions which had me a bit disengaged. Conversely then the hero started to waffle and created the same reaction while reading. The parts where they really connected though were excellent and created witty banter and fun that I love to read in romances. The ending felt a bit rushed for me and I wish it could have been explored just a little more but overall Marina Adair created a good, entertaining romance novel.

Read this in a few hours. I really enjoyed the book, the pacing was good. I enjoyed the characters building up their relationship just getting to know each other, super cute. Wes was good cute mmc, had the fmc’s best interests at heart and just instantly protective and in love with her.
It was a super cute fluffy read

*Special thanks to NetGalley for providing me an ARC*

This was a very cute take on “You’ve Got Mail” with all of the classic rom com references and nods. Overall a very quick and entertaining read with interesting family dynamics and my favorite - the enemies to lovers trope! Catch this one when it comes out on March 4th!

If you love You've Got Mail, enemies to lovers tension, and sizzling banter, Love to Hate You by Marina Adair is just what youa re looking for. This book takes the classic indie bookstore vs. corporate giant rivalry and gives it a fresh, modern spin with all the charm, wit, and slow burn romance you could ask for.

Summer Russo is everything you want in a romance FMC—passionate, determined, and fiercely protective of her beloved bookstore. Her belief in true love is heartwarming, and watching her go toe to toe with Wes Kingston, the broody, grumpy CEO trying to take her down, was chef’s kiss perfection. Their rivalry is deliciously tense, packed with smart comebacks and undeniable chemistry that practically sparks off the page.

And then the forced proximity twist? Brilliant. When Summer and Kingston are unexpectedly thrown together on vacation, the lines between enemies and something way more intimate start to blur in the best way. Their push and pull dynamic is filled with hilarious antics, emotional depth, and some seriously swoony moments that make this book impossible to put down.

Marina Adair’s writing is sharp, heartfelt, and full of hilarious moments. She masterfully balances tension and tenderness, making you fall just as hard for the romance as you do for the small town charm and family dynamics woven into the story.

A witty, steamy, and utterly addictive rom com that will leave you grinning. If you love a grumpy/sunshine dynamic, bookish romance, and a modern You've Got Mail vibe, Love to Hate You is for you!

Thank you to NetGalley, Marina Adair, and 8th Note Press for the eARC of this book.
