Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

first of all i want to thank the publisher and the author.

I really enjoyed this book and the enemies to lovers, what draw me to the book was the fact that the fmc Summer owns a romance bookstore (who wouldnt wanna own one, its my dream) and the mmc Wes is the owner of a big chain bookstore. Summer goes on vacation to spend time with her family and when her twin sister Autumn shows up with her new boyfriend, guess who is there? Wes. During the vacation they learn stuff about each other and maybe they dont hate each other as much as they thought. This book was so fun to read and it made me feel things, i was so giddy when they were butting heads, but also i really related to Summer and her feelings. The playful rivalry and gradual shift in their relationship keep the pages turning and made me finish this book in 2 days. This was my first time reading a book by Marina Adair, and i can say it wont be my last, really like the writing style and how easy it was for me to read it. But also i loved the story and the characters.

I wanted to fall in love with Love to Hate You, but I ended up with mixed feelings. Summer, the main character, had the potential to be a charming, relatable heroine, but her constant people-pleasing, martyr complex made her hard to connect with. The way she shifted between wanting to please everyone and then lashing out with aggressive, often contradictory behavior was off-putting, and it left me struggling to pinpoint her personality.

On the other hand, I enjoyed Wes, despite him being full of red flags and caught up in miscommunication, much like Summer. The mixed signals and back-and-forth made for a frustrating dynamic at times, especially when he would complain about Summer doing the exact same thing he was guilty of. That said, their slow-burn romance did have its moments, and I was happy they reached a happy ending.

I think the book could have benefited from some tighter editing. The dialogue during the spice scenes felt cringe-worthy to me, and while I was hoping for a more rewarding slow/medium burn relationship, it didn't quite hit the mark. The overuse of meta references to stay relevant was a bit too much for my taste and, at times, felt like an eye-roll moment.

If you're a fan of enemies-to-lovers and miscommunication tropes, this may be right up your alley, but I can’t fully recommend it to others. Still, I did manage to finish it, so it wasn’t all bad.

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC before its release!

This was such an entertaining read! I tend to inhale any book that has enemies-to-lovers, and this was no exception.

Every single scene between Summer and Wes had me kicking my feet. They were so cute. Between the banter, their chemistry, and their feud/silly pranks, there really wasn’t a dull moment!

This is a modern take on You've Got Mail, and in an era of copy-paste retellings, this was quite refreshing. It's unique in its own right and is entirely unputdownable. :)

There were a few formatting issues (Extra spaces in the text. A few jumps in dialogue.) All very minor mistakes that will most likely be fixed before it is released.

I'm willing to bet that this will be a hit for all you Swifties out there! I know how fun it is when your fav artists are mentioned. I'm not a huge fan myself, but I liked how it played a part in this story.

3.5 stars

I'm forever stuck on 'You've Got Mail' even though it's not too overtly accepted these days to catfish a woman and then lead her on in a way that most people back then sort of let slide just because it's a rom-com.

'Love To Hate You' hence, was one that I couldn't resist requesting for given it's similarity to the movie that I suspect will always remain one of my favourites. But it's just a surface similarity to the movie really; bookstore rivalry and a burgeoning chemistry between enemies aside, there's a bit more heart and family heartbreak involved here more than a single woman's romantic ideals that lie more in the clouds than in concrete reality.

It's a breezy read to go through nonetheless. Witty banter and smart-alecky, sassy voices that dominate both Summer Russo's and Wes Kingston's alternating POVs do make the pages go by fast. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it's a forced family gathering (and forced proximity) involving Summer's twin and Wes's younger brother) that make both Summer and Wes re-evaluate their opinions of each other, lending 'Love to hate you' quite a bit more backbone than 'You've Got Mail'.

But as much as I loved Summer's big heart, her people-pleasing ways and her insistence on grabbing the good bits out of every situation, I hated her meddling family members and her twin sister who took every advantage of Summer because she could...and Summer's attempt at further enabling that sort of atrocious behaviour. That she put everyone else and their feelings first made me feel for her...for that alone I was glad for the HEA she really deserved.

That said, it's all still a little tropey however; it's as though Summer - her name says it all - is the archetype of the romance-loving female who ends up with the rich man who finds it hard to commit, and is on the run from anything resembling a relationship after being stung by other women and some daddy or mummy issue. I wished this had taken a different turn instead, but well...it is after all, a story that colours within the same lines.

The tension and banter in this book was to die for and I ate every second of it up. The relationship dynamic is full of push and pull moments and a rivals to lovers trope that I personally love in a romance.

Modern day you’ve got mail.
Summer is the owner of a romance book store. The store has been in her family for years. Wes is a big boss at a big time bookstore. They hate each other and the story shows how they battle each other showing their hate.
It’s flirting really…
Summer goes on vacation, when her twin sister Autumn shows up with Randy her new boyfriend and Wes younger brother, and…. Of course Wes.
Summer and Wes get grouped together for some vacation games and start to learn they had the other pegged wrong.

This is a fun short read heart for if your looking to break up the heavier reading with something lighter!

The story was cute and entertaining. I couldn't put it down. The romance and chemistry were incredible, and the banter was phenomenal. I really loved the main characters of the story and the rivals to lovers trope. I loved the pacing also, as it never dragged. I smiled a lot whilst reading because of how cute the main character was.

I think the banter was the best part of the book. The flirting was dynamite.

It was light and easy to read and would be a great book in between heavier series.

There were some editing and formatting issues I would hope to be cleared up by release. I also had a hard time with some of the references to people and movies; they were so old I had a hard time remembering a clear picture of what those things meant. I was a kid in the 90s, so a lot of the references I knew about, but I had no idea what they "looked" like. Maybe adding a little more context clues to what we were picturing would have helped. There were also jumps in dialog that made no sense and some other errors in the writing. But all of these were minor things, and most should be fixed by release.

The only other comments I have would be it's a bit predictable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for romance, and it doesn't go too deep. They do have some emotional growth, but it fell slightly flat in this area.

I'd recommend to anyone looking for a quick romance with an easy story and some spice. It'll definitely give you some laughs and make you giddy.
