The Letter Carrier was so, so good. The writing immersed me completely in Salento, Italy... and I fell in love with Anna, The Letter Carrier. It is a story about life... and so much more. It is about making a new home and trying to not be "the outsider" any longer. It is about returning home after being away for a long time. It is about family and friends who become family. It is about what you share and what you hold secret and how those things can alter your life. It is about making a difference in the community you live in. It is about love and loss. It is about being independent... yet still being a part of someone else and trying to find the balance between those two things. It really was the most beautiful story I have read in a very long time and it is one that will stay with me.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Crown Publishing for the digital copy of this book. It was published on 7/1/25.

What happens when you met your soulmate but they are married? This story tells that and more. Written during WWII, this charming story set in Italy is charming. Highly recommend!

Debut novel in translation. Brilliant story of an unconventional woman in a traditional southern Italy town. Set both before and after WWII this family drama centers on Anna and her role in the community, as the outsider and the letter carrier. Thanks to NetGalley and Crown Publishing Group for an advanced copy for an honest review.

Once I had all of the characters straight, I thoroughly enjoyed The Letter Carrier. It is a gentle read, not much happening but at the same time lots going on in the story.
A very satisfying family saga which includes mostly likeable characters and even the ones I didn’t care for added lots to the story!

THE LETTER CARRIER is a moving and well-written novel. I can definitely understand why it's been a big success in Italy. The small town setting is wonderful, and the author does a terrific job of immersing the reader in the atmospheric story world, complete with just enough period details to establish this time in history. Anna's sensibilities are shocking to the small town, and I loved how, when she became the letter carrier, she made connections all over town. At times tragic and overall lovely, I highly recommend this novel for fans of literary fiction.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in my review are 100% my own.
