Echo Lake by Carla Neggers

The book's synopsis hints at a romance, a mystery... some suspense, perhaps. What I read did not feel like any of them. Echo Lake, to me, felt like women's fiction and that's not my cup of tea, unfortunately. I did enjoy the small town feel, and some of the characters (namely Brody), but I felt deceived by that back cover synopsis.

This wasn't for me. I got bored very quickly, felt the plot was really slow to build, didn't understand what Heather saw in Brody or how they really connected together, at all. It was such a major let down as it sounded like such a fun but sweet read and from an author, I hadn't read before but nope not for me at all. Just couldn't connect to any of it.

Echo Lake is a great addition to the Swift River Valley Series. I loved the main characters, Heather and Brody, and really enjoyed seeing the other familiar ones. The book is a very good contemporary romance, and I found it sweet and touching.
