I think this was my first book by this author. I know she is quite popular so I was excited when I was picked to read this one.
I was hooked at the beginning of the book....then it seemed to lag in the middle. The ending had me surprised and shocked. I think I would have rated it higher if the pace wasn't so slow. Recommended to those who like suspense and mystery.

Message Deleted was my first K.L. Slater novel, and overall, I enjoyed the experience. The premise pulled me in right away, and there were definitely some tense, page-turning moments. Slater knows how to create suspense and keep the reader guessing.
While I didn’t find every twist surprising, and a few parts felt a bit slow, the story still held my attention. Some characters could have been a bit more fleshed out, but the overall plot was engaging enough to keep me reading to the end.
As my first read from this author, I’m curious to check out more of her work. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with domestic drama and a few good twists, this is worth a try!

This one took me longer than I would have liked to finish. The story starts out promising but then ends up having a lot of filler details that detracted from the main story. I ended up getting lost in some of the smaller details and flashbacks. I also felt like the ending came together in a sloppy way.

This was a good read, but somewhat predictable. I do like how there are multi different things happening and main characters are intertwined in different ways. This was the first book I have read by this author. Took me a while to get through it, plot could have been shorter and still a good read.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC! This fast-paced thriller had me hooked from the very first page. The story follows Saffy as she works to get her life back on track. While waiting for a job interview, she receives a disturbing text from a friend—only for the message to mysteriously disappear moments later. Her friend insists she never sent it… and things quickly spiral from there.
Soon, the police get involved, and Saffy finds herself tangled in a chilling mystery as she becomes the last known contact before the family in question goes missing.
This book was a wild ride filled with twists and turns I never saw coming. It kept me guessing right up until the very end. A gripping, suspenseful read!

This was my second KL Slater book and I wasn’t super impressed but overall not too bad. Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to read Message Deleted before its March release!

Message Deleted by K.L. Slater is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story centers around the disappearance of Leona, the protagonist's best friend, and the unsettling events that lead up to it. When the protagonist receives a mysterious and urgent message from Leona begging for help, she rushes to Leona's house, only to find everything seemingly fine—Leona, her husband, and their young daughter are safe and sound, and the message has disappeared from her phone.
But just hours later, the unthinkable happens. The police arrive at her door with devastating news: Leona and her family have vanished without a trace, leaving behind signs of a violent struggle. Now, the protagonist is thrust into the heart of a chilling mystery, one that revolves around her missing friend and the horrifying secrets hidden beneath the surface.
Slater masterfully builds suspense, using twists and red herrings that keep the reader questioning what is real and what isn't. The tension is palpable, and the plot is fast-paced, with every chapter pulling you deeper into the mystery. The characters are well-developed, and the eerie atmosphere is maintained throughout, making it nearly impossible to put the book down.
With its unpredictable twists and an ending that will leave readers stunned. It’s a haunting and addictive page-turner that explores the dark side of friendships, secrets, and the terrifying things that can happen when trust is broken.

He has been watching the family, but they are blissfully unaware. He seems odd and at odds with the quier, affluent neighborhood.
Saffy is about to get called into her job interview when she receives a text from her best friend, Leona. Her text, asking Saffy to come to her, is suddenly deleted. And then, the family disappears.
They never indicated that they were leaving and didn't seem to have a plan.
What happened to them?
The book utilizes a calm, descriptive mood in the beginning and escalates as a series of events unfolds.
I flew through the last third. The reveal was shocking and made me think about how we can't swear for anyone besides ourselves, no matter how close we think we are.
A thriller indeed.
Thank you to the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Wow! I have read a few of K.L. Slater's books, and this is by far her best work yet. There was not one moment that I was bored. Due to the amount of thrillers I read, I am fairly good at figuring out the twists. However, there was so much going on and I did not guess one thing right. And just when I thought that was the only twist, another one came along. Highly recommend!!
Thank you NetGalley, K.L. Slater and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Gripping from the start! I kept feeling bad for the main character throughout the book. She was just trying to put her life back together but continuously dug herself deeper and deeper into more trouble. Overall, this was very enjoyable with unexpected twists and turns.
Warning - there are moments of abuse, assault, and controlling relationships.
Synopsis: Saffy gets a text message from her best friend asking for help, but suddenly the messages get deleted, and her friend goes missing.

3.5 stars. The pace was a little slow which led to me being distracted but overall was pretty good!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was an entertaining read, but a little predictable and slower than I prefer. I started to detach a little in the middle, then the ending turned out to be exactly what I thought. It was a good read, but I needed a bit more suspense and mystery.

Solid 3.5 stars. When Saffy receives a frantic text from her best friend Leona begging her to come, she rushes to her friend’s home. However the message disappears as quickly as it arrives and Leona denies sending it. The plot thickens after Leona, her daughter, and controlling husband disappear and Saffy finds herself the subject of the investigation. Overall I enjoyed this book and there were definitely a lot of twists and turns. It was quite slow in some spots and I felt the ending dragged on.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this intriguing ARC!

Wowww did not see that twist coming
This was a very good book. Could of been a five star if the pace was a little faster but this is my own opinion.
I loved the characters and they were developed well.

A heart-pounding psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns! Really enjoyed this one! This was my first time reading K.L. Slater and I will definitely be seeking out her other books! Content warning - domestic abuse.

I LOVED this book. It was a very fast read and didn’t want it to end! Will definitely be looking for more book by this author!

Because this was such a slow burn I almost gave it four stars. But the last quarter of the book and the ending was good enough to make up for it and I'm going with five stars. I enjoyed the story but really had to push myself through the slow middle. Thankfully I was invested enough to want to know what happened in order to stick with it. I felt like some of it could have been omitted without really missing much. Slater builds the characters well though so that you feel invested in knowing if they are going to be okay. It felt like three different stories combined into one which I feel is why it felt sluggish but what kept me hooked to the end. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the advanced copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank You Netgalley and Bookouture for my copy!
Saffy receives three text messages from her best friend, Leona.
Can’t speak…Don’t text or call…Pls just come.
As quickly as they are received, the messages disappear. They’ve been deleted. Saffy is reeling, but she knows something is wrong. She races over to Leona's house and when Leona answers the door everything seems fine. Leone has no idea what Saffy is talking about and invites her for a drink. Saffy can tell something is wrong, but leaves to go pick up her son, Fox, and promises to see Leona soon. Six hours later, Leona, her husband, Ash, and her daughter, Rosie, are missing and Saffy is the last person to see them alive.
I raced through this book in 2 days. I just needed to know what happened. The tension is palpable, and you can tell how scared Saffy is for her best friend. Saffy is desperate and will do anything she can to find them, which includes taking the police investigation into her own hands.
Slater creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and suspense with multiple POVs and jumping into the past to add to the unease. Both Saffy and Poppy were unreliable narrators, so I truly had no idea how things were going to end and if Leona and Rosie would ever be found. To say the ending was twisted is an understatement!
Message Deleted is an exciting and gripping read you won’t be able to put down.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a lot of surprises that kept me entertained. KL Slater tells a great story.

Was a very good book if all this woman whose friend went missing after sending her some mysterious messages that's only got deleted
