A good read. I predicted some of it but not quite all. Good ending - some predictable but an extra layer to ensure a gripping plot. .

MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME is one of those books that had me doubting the characters and making up theories the whole time! It was a twist filled ride, and I loved it!

MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME is seriously, super fast-paced, and had me simply not wanting to put it down for even a second.

Do you think you can guess the who, the what, and why? I surely couldn't! I definitely recommend grabbing a copy today.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Make Yourself at Home was a twisty, fun and interesting read. Everytime I thought I had it figured out I was thrown for another loop. There were so many layers to the plot twist, it was definitely an edge of your seat book.

The characters were likable and had interesting back stories. Cath has to truly figure out if the man she married is who he says he is…and if he’s the one behind all the dark and mysterious things that are happening in her life. You never know who you can trust.

This was a surprising book. I was not expecting any of the ending. You just never know who someone is even when you’ve known them a long time. Not everyone is who they seem to be. Great narration and well written. Finished it in less than a day and loved it. I also listened to the audiobook as well.

I have previously read some of Wendy's books and I really wanted to like this one as well. But to be honest I only liked it. This was because I couldn't connect to the characters. It just didn't have the wow factor for me.

Catherine and Gary were both trained as teachers but Gary has since taken a different job. Catherine works with level 11 students, teaching English, and she absolutely loves it!

When asked to take on Lisa, a teacher in training, Cath happily accepts. Cath has come a long way over the years, successfully putting her troubled past behind her, and becoming a well respected teacher.

When Cath discovers Lisa has been kicked out of her house and is sleeping at the school, she can’t help but feel sorry for the young teacher. And when Cath’s husband Gary shows up at her school, they’re all shocked when it turns out Lisa is Gary’s half sister! Knowing that, Catherine offers Lisa to stay with them which upsets Gary for some reason.

While dealing with her guest, whom she also works with, the worst parts of Cath’s past come back to haunt her. Her car is burned in the school parking lot; someone leaves a lighter on the steps of her home; a video of her burning car is sent to her; and someone writes “murderer” on her rental car, again in the school parking lot.

As life at school and home becomes more stressful, Cath feels her choices are limited; she decides to meet the father and mother-in-law she’s never met to figure out why things are so strained between her husband and her house guest. But what she discovers does more harm than good. Someone is lying to Catherine and someone is determine to destroy her. Can Catherine trust anyone? And if so, who?

Thank you NetGalley, Wendy Clarke, and Bookouture for gifting me a copy of the ARC in exchange for a review.

I really liked this book. The twists and turns are great and keep you hooked till the end.

My only complaint is that it's a bit slow paced and I had to force myself to keep reading at times. But once I got hooked I had no problem finishing the story!

Really recommend this to anyone looking for a cozy mystery set in an English school.

This was intriguing, and had a strong start and kept me engaged for the first few chapters, but as the story progressed there were too many side plots and some felt a bit exaggerated. The characters needed more depth and to be explored a bit more, but while I enjoyed some of it, the ending didn't really work.

Katherine is a teacher who has set her sights on the head teacher position at her school. Her friend, colleague, and her husband's best friend Ross is mentoring new teacher Lisa, who is really struggling to find her footing. Lisa asks to work with Katherine instead, who is well-respected and known to be a great teacher while Ross isn't as helpful as what Lisa needs. But, it turns out that not only is Lisa sleeping in her classroom after being thrown out of her house by her parents, but she is Katherine's husband's half sister! Katherine immediately invites Lisa to come stay in their spare room even though her husband Gary is dead set against it. He has a tumultuous relationship with his father and much animosity towards his half sister.

Upon moving in, it becomes clear that Gary has just as many secrets and Katherine. And someone is out to reveal all of Katherine's secrets from her past life.

This book had a good couple of twists. It was a quick, easy read with a good story. I had a hard time with the author's style of writing, though. She just didn't have the type of flow that many great author's have. Overall, this was a book worth the read.

Make Yourself at Home by Wendy Clarke and narrated by Lucy Paterson was an utterly unputdownable and twisty psychological thriller. I was hooked at the beginning. This book was face-paced especially as it was full of twists and turns throughout and I found it hard to stop reading it.

A Great holiday read especially if you are lying by the pool or on a beach somewhere warm enjoying the atmosphere of your holiday.

I highly recommend it

Big Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

So many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this title!

What a rollercoaster of emotions!! This is a beautifully deceptive story of figuring out who you can trust with your deepest secrets. I did struggle through some portions feeling a tad mundane BUT there was constantly an anxious side to the story to keep pushing you forward over and over. Just when you think you have it figured out - there’s another wrench thrown in the mix to shake it up.

Well done!

I was not quite sure what to expect when I first started to read this, but it was great. I would come up with a theory, convinced I was on to something only to be completely shocked. This was a good one!

It took me almost three weeks to make it through this one because it was way too easy to put down and walk away from. I couldn't work up much curiosity about that awful secret in her past that the protagonist kept referencing. There was no sense of urgency when it came to the plot. As much as I love domestic thrillers, this wasn't the book for me.

This is one of those thrillers that had me gripped. The pace of the story was brilliant.
It had me totally captivated.
It really had me thinking on who to trust.
First time reading anything by this author and was well worth it. Loved every minute. Perfect thriller

A thrilling novel by an author I’ve never tried before! She kept up with some of my favorite authors in regard to the mystery and suspense. I loved the short chapters and single person point of view.

Make Yourself At Home had so many hidden secrets that I couldn’t put it down and had to know more! The twists and turns at the end are on par for the excitement throughout the book. Wendy Clark does a good job tying everything together and leaving you questioning things again and again!

Make Yourself at Home by Wendy Clarke is an absolute page turner that will have you hooked from the very beginning!

Cracks in Cath and Gary's relationship start to show when Gary's estranged sister Lisa moves in with them. In the beginning things seem pretty normal but then Gary starts to act distant and standoffish, leaving the room whenever Lisa appears. Now hidden secrets are being exposed and Cath begins to question Gary's motivations. But does Cath have something to hide as well? And what is really going on with Lisa?

This was definitely a quick and easy domestic thriller!! The twists and turns throughout really kept me engaged and the tension between the characters was intense. Fans of psychological thrillers and mysteries will definitely want to read this novel!

Thank you to NetGalley, Wendy Clarke, and Bookouture for this ARC. Release day is March 5th 2025.

Katherine is well liked English teacher at her school & is looking to climb the ladder for a new position. Yet once a TA enters the picture all things around Katherine starts falling apart. Even though drama is continuing to unfold she is still trying to get the best and protect her students & doesn’t know who to trust. I really enjoyed trying to figure out who was out to get Katherine & the twists that came about. It was not the most surprising twists or groundbreaking but a fun thriller to read. Thankful for my complimentary copy for a honest review.

A fast paced, highly gripping book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn't read it fast enough. From the get go, I suspected the sister of something sinister and as the book progressed, I was trying to piece together all of the "coincidences'. A true whodunit and I didn't trust anyone! I really felt the sibling connection and love for her brother Aled and the survivors guilt she felt. I highly recommend this book to anyone craving a fast paced twisty book. I enjoyed this book so much I even listened to the Audiobook version which added even more character with the wonderful narrators voice.

Ha! I have to say the synopsis of the book doesn’t begin to describe it. Catherine is constantly suspecting the people around her and with good reason! They all seem to have a secret. If you try to predict the ending, well, whoever you pick as the devious one, you’ll be right. It was fun to unfold the story.
