The first book of the Detective Gina Harte series that I've read and I can't believe I haven't heard of books 1-16 before now. One thing is for sure, I will be going back and reading from book 1 as soon as possible. This was a fantastic and gripping read. I was hooked from the prologue and devoured this in one sitting over 3hrs. Great plotting and pacing with so many fantastic twists. There is clearly a brilliant back story involving Gina which I am excited to explore through the earlier books. I've been searching for a really good series to read and it looks like I've found it. Absolutely brilliant book! I would highly recommend. Thanks to the author and publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm running out of compliments for Carla's writing the the DI Gina Harte series if I'm honest!

I feel like I'm constantly recycling my reviews but I just can't find a bad word to say. They keep me hooked and reading them within 24 hours. The stories drag you in, lock you up and never let you go.

They are never simple either. There is always multiple storyline going on at the same time but Carla always manages to make them all come together so nicely and wraps everything up. No questions.

I honestly didn't know who to trust in this book, and I won't give names of specific trust issues or who incase of spoilers, but just know this is a fabulous read as always. I love this policing team!

Then She Vanished (Detective Gina Harte Book 17) by Carla Kovach

Detective Inspector Gina Harte is called in to investigate a nameless suicide victim. He left a note that simply stated “Save her and tell her I’m sorry.” DI Gina immediately feels like something is not right and starts to investigate who this man may be. This opens up a whole can of worms that links to a kidnapping case from thirty years ago.

I have not read any previous Detective Gina Harte books before but I had no trouble following the story and did not feel left out in any details. I enjoyed this book a great deal: Carla Kovach is a great writer.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for a copy of this for a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review.

This was an engaging thriller with a gripping premise. The story is filled with twists and suspense, but the large number of characters made it difficult for me to keep track of everyone (which took away from the overall experience). While the plot kept me interested, the character overload made it harder to stay fully immersed in the story. While I didn’t read the previous books in the series, this worked as a standalone. I could tell there was some backstory I was missing, but it didn’t impact my understanding too much. Overall, it’s a decent read.

‘Then She Vanished’ is the seventeenth book in the Gina Harte series by author Carla Kovach. This series seems to be getting better and this latest offering is another solid read.

Mother Ruth Pritchard is haunted by a tragedy that occurred thirty years ago when her sixteen-year-old daughter, Elissa, disappeared without a trace. The case went cold despite extreme investigations, including suspicion falling on Ruth’s own husband. Ruth has been forced to face the unanswered questions and the unknown.

Ruth’s nightmare begins again when another young woman vanishes from the same streets where Elissa was last seen. A distinctive red scarf is found at the crime scene and Ruth immediately recognises it as belonging to her missing daughter. She is convinced the two cases are linked so contacts the police, but then suddenly disappears herself.

Tension builds as detectives race to uncover the truth, why has Ruth disappeared, did she discover a lead or is she in danger.

The characters grow stronger with every new book to the series and together with well thought out plots make fascinating reading.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I read about the first 7 of her books about Detective Gina Hart and loved the. This is book 17, and it doesn't matter if you didn't read the previous ones.
This is a good detective story as usual, what we can expect from this author. The story is about Elissa, she disappeared and was never heard of or seen again. It broke the marriage of her parents.

The story has some twists and the end is not what you expect. This author has a gift of presenting some really sick people. That makes her books so great. A long the way you realize that there are more girls.
The story is from multiple points of view. You also read the stories from the victims, which makes you very curious throughout the book.
Read this if you love a good detective story with some very sick perpetrators...

Loved!!!!! My favorite series of all time. I am truly invested in every single character. I don’t think I ever felt this way about a series before. These characters are so amazing and I feel as though I am living their lives with them. I feel everything they feel. You know an author is great when they can make you feel this way. Now let’s talk about plot. Any missing teenager book piques my interest but there was so much more going on than just that in this book. There were many twists and turns that you didn’t see coming. I was OMG what is going to happen next. I had to finish and couldn’t put this down for the life of me. I started this when the sun came up and finished when the sun went down. It was just that good. Last but not least my favorite part of every book the ending. I was speechless. I couldn’t say anything for a while. I had to sit there and take it all in. Wow, wow and more wow. If you haven’t tried this author and series yet you are missing out. This series keeps getting better and better with each book. Carla Kovach you truly are amazing and continue this series forever in my opinion.

Loved it!! The Detective Gina Harte Series is definitely one of my favorites. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put the book down because I had to know who was behind the kidnappings. Where were these girls being held? This was one of the creepiest books. Those poor girls, being held captive like that was unimaginable. What kind of person does this? Which girl did the scarf belong to? There seemed to have been more than one girl kidnapped. There were so many twists and turns. I was definitely shocked when everything was finally revealed. I never suspected this person. The book kept me guessing until the very end. Gary seemed like he was hiding something, but what? Would he really be connected to his daughter's disappearance? Something horrible needs to happen to Stephen. That whole family is rotten. No one can prove that Gina let her husband die. Who would even believe Stephen. Her guilt is eating her up, but she has nothing to be sorry about. Gina definitely got played. I don't know why she didn't go to Briggs for help and listen to him. She needs to make it up to him, big time!! For being a detective, Gina needs to tighten security around her house. Ebony is definitely not a guard cat. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Definitely recommend the book and the previous ones in the series. This was a great mystery/thriller. Loved the characters, writing style and story. I can't wait to find out what's next for Det. Gina Harte. I wish I had better news about DCI Briggs and Gina. Will the next book be about Hannah and Gina? Look forward to reading more books by the author. Loved the book cover.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Carla Kovach is a master at her trade.

The Gina Harte series never gets old. Carla brings you into her story and doesn’t let you go until the very last word.
You feel the pain, heartache, fear, and devastation.

And when you turn the last page and read the last word your heart feels just about full……..but only just about because there’s always someone who didn’t make it home.

Then she vanished is book 17 in the Gina Harte series and another fabulous books in the series.
A young farmhand finds a man dead in a car with a suicide note instructing to save her and tell her that I am sorry, I didn’t want to hurt her. I only wanted to lover her, but I failed.
When Police arrive, Gina Harte discovers that the unknown man and the note is linked to a missing girl. Gina and her team need to act fast before it’s too late.
At the same time, things are going wrong in her personal life, and someone is harassing her She needs to find a solution and she does, but Briggs doesn’t know about it. If he did it will be her job on the line.
This is another great page turner by Carla Kovach. This is another complex case that Gina must deal with that gripped me from the start. The subject matter is grittier then previous, but I enjoyed it all the same. 5 stars from me.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this book ahead of time in exchange for a review. It didn't disappoint! Must read!!
Finished in two days. Absolutely brilliant. It has bestseller written all over it. What a book! Fast, edge-of-your-seat stuff. Each time I set the book down I had to remind myself to breathe.

As much as I love this author I didn’t enjoy this book very much . I have Fybromyalgia so it could be the brain fog I get sometimes but I couldn’t figure out who was who with the characters ( except the police force ) . I kept having to go back and try to figure out who had done what . I’m still not sure too much of the plot in this book , perhaps there were too many characters in the story for me . I won’t be recommending this book , sorry

Then She Vanished by Carla Kovach is book 17 in the Detective Gina Harte series.
I read it as stand-alone and kind of a feeling that I didn't miss out a lot. It was easy to follow the story and characters and yes there were some small parts that were raising a question but didn't affect the love for the book.

This story was sad, heartbreaking, and emotional with an absolutely delicious twist! It was engaging from the beginning and kept my attention all the way through.

DI Gina Harte must deal with some complex case that starts as a suicide but slowly, like a spider creates a web with a complex crime that goes years and years back. Nothing makes sense, everything is somehow connected and not connected at all!

Thank you, NetGalley for this copy!

Absolute brilliant writing!

This book is so twisty and highly complex with character development. I loved it and was hooked from the first chapter! It’s full of urgency and lots of mystery characters.

Throughout the book the main character, Gina is dealing with her own personal dilemmas which threaten to end her career and home life. This particular part of the story, for me, could’ve been buried in the last book. I found the issue was blown out of proportion when it came to her handling the situation. Gina is grounded and very strong willed so to see her react in the way she did rather than front it out like she had done for years - felt off to me.

That’s aside, this book can be read as a standalone novel and you won’t miss out on the fact that this is book 17!! There’s l enough dialogue, backstory and character interaction for you to swiftly gain your footing and keep up with Gina as she investigates the case.

Absolutely brilliant and totally worth picking up. If you’re a fan of crime fiction - this is the book for you.

Thanks to NetGalley my advance copy in return for my honest review.

Wow this book is number 17 in the series and this one is still as exciting as when the first book came out, Carla Kovach is a brilliant author not only for this series but also her other standalone books.

There is a lot going on in this book which meant another long night of reading as I couldn’t put it down. A young farmhand finds a body in a car and alerts the police who find the man has committed suicide. The man has left behind a note which leads Gina and her team in search of a missing girl, and Gina is determined to find her and quickly. Next, a woman crossing an empty carpark to get home on a very cold evening is attacked and murdered, is there any connection to part of their current investigation?

Ruth Pritchard’s daughter Elissa disappeared thirty years ago, and she has never been found, nor have there been any clues about her whereabouts. Ruth has always feared the worst. She has recently separated from her husband and is now in another relationship. Ruth then sees a news bulletin on TV showing a picture of a scarf the police believe is a major lead in their investigation and Ruth contacts them as she knows this scarf is the one Elissa owned before she went missing. Ruth has also started receiving some cryptic messages and she believes they are connected to her daughter; the note asks her to meet someone at a specific place and against her better judgement she decides to do so. when On arrival she realsies the danger she has put herself in and calls the police, they hear her on the phone but she is then brutally attacked. The case becomes more complicated than it already is.

Privately Gina is also still haunted by Stephen, the brother of her previous partner who abused her for many years and whom she killed by pushing him down a flight of stairs. Stephen knows the truth of what Gina did and he will not leave her alone, taunting her continuously. Mentally Gina is a mess, and she knows she should let Briggs know about what is currently happening, but she has decided to keep things to herself. Journalist Pete Bloxwich is also back on the scene, and this complicates things even further.

Another fabulous instalment in this series, as always highly recommended. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.

I have not read any of the other books in this series, so this functioned as a stand alone for me. I could tell there was some back story that I was missing due to not having read the previous books, but not anything that impacted my opinion or understanding.

My issue with this book was the absolutely wild amount of characters. I read mostly thrillers, so I'm used to a lot of characters to give a wide suspect pool , but this was excessive to me. I couldn't keep them all straight and it really took away from the story for me.

I think if you've read the other books in the series and enjoyed them (assuming they are the same style), then you'll probably enjoy this book too. The story itself was good, I just feel that the amount of characters truly took away from it.

Thanks so much to NetGalley & Bookouture for the advanced copy to review!

Another brilliant book from this author in the Gina Harte Series, so glad to have her and her team back again

A great storyline that kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end with everything brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending this brilliant series of which I have read them all.

Absolutely unputdownable book and story.
The men in this book were the worst and reading their part made me so angry. Some of the things they wrote/said made my blood boil.
There were also a lot of parts which threw me as we had multiple missing people - so I kept guessing until the end who was who.

Only part I didn't like was the missing relationship between Gina and Briggs.. I do hope they come back in future stories.

Thank you Netgalley for the Arc.
